like back there you like dve back there okay hey everybody it's uh jiren again and we're live from uh uh the team hotels here in uh in Louisville Kentucky and waiting for some of the Husker commits to uh hop on here as uh we do our um our hus hus commits uh live stream um in in preparation for the ABCA for serve showcase um and just a quick wrap up from today uh very different mentalities I guess from the four teams during their uh practice sessions and the Big 10 teams came in with Nebraska and Wisconsin and very focused um very quiet very prepared almost like uh a final four if you will and Lille in Kentucky a little more relaxed a little more Loos uh at least behind the scenes in and out and uh let's see if we can add hey Jaden Hi how are you good how are you I'm good I'm good you're uh you're our first of our Nebraska commits here I think we'll we'll have yep and just as I say that Gabby how are you I'm good how are you good I think we're gonna have about eight or nine of you uh eventually but uh we'll have all of husker Nation so uh we'll just I'm just going to click you guys as you come but I was uh just saying we'll just keep going and I'll keep adding you guys as you come but uh I was just saying I was in the gym today and or at the arena today and uh the difference in uh the approaches and when Nebraska came in it was almost like coach Paulie and I were talking and when they walked in a they were huge and um B it was almost like a final four like they almost marched in like an army troop and there wasn't a word like they were on a mission today and they almost intimidated me um with their with their game faces uh but so they definitely looked like uh they were focused uh uh for tomorrow and hey Ryan but you guys know um do you guys know so do you guys know um I guess Gabby you um you know uh at least uh one of them is your Club bate but do you guys talk with any of the current players like do you guys communicate with them like Ryan I know you've gone to camps for a couple years is that something you guys do since they're going to be some of them will be future teammates or or no like do you guys reach out to current players or is that something you don't do until you get to college I mean I know I talk to Campbell quite a bit um just because she's out obviously but as far as like people at Nebraska right now I don't really sometimes I'll talk to Harper but um that's about it for now yeah um and like Harper was in the front of line um she was like the leing the uh leading the troops in and um her game face was on already if anybody's uh wondering she was um locked in as they uh as they all walked in uh today but Carrie how are you I'm good how are you uh we're good we're good but uh it was uh so I asked you guys a couple questions and I guess maybe it's a little bit different with Nebraska um like I said coach Paulie and I talked today and when we broke down each team you you know we almost talk differently about Nebraska with expectations and preparation when you sign on at Nebraska is isn't it almost like you know what you're signing on for when you commit to Nebraska and I and I don't mean that in a bad way but you know you're signing on to the most popular program in the country would would that be an accurate statement Ryan let's start with you yeah totally um I feel like Nebraska is very open with what their program has to offer and that was very very helpful when deciding what um school to choose so yeah and and Jaden let's let's go to you I I think you guys know and and I don't want to make I don't like want to make it sound negative at all you guys know what you're getting into you you guys expect to play on ESPN in final fours when you go to Nebraska yeah um with picking Nebraska it was it was like I'm signing up for the whole entire State because Nebraska is like really big with volleyball but also the state also like feeds in with the volleyball program as well so you're you're not just signed up you're not signing up with um just the program you're signed up with the entire State and that was a big aspect of my um when I committed Well Carrie you can uh being from Nebraska you can probably um is Jaden 100% right you're you live there so even before you were a Nebraska commit you were in Nebraskan and and is she 100% right on that yeah she is 100% right like I feel like everything here in Nebraska is all about like volleyball because it's like one of like the like the most well-known Sports here and with like Nebraska volleyball there's always like this expectation of them like being one of the top like sports teams in Nebraska so I feel like there's always an expectation there with NE baset volley ball and yeah it's very well known well and and uh Ellie Glock is the the setter for Louisville and Ellie won three state championships at Wahoo Nebraska so she was a All American multi-time uh allster um very very decorated uh high school player in Nebraska and now she's the uh Setter for Louisville so she's she's been where most most athletes would like to be and I asked her um when you were a freshman in high school did you ever think that volleyball would get to where it is now like do you kind of pinch yourself and she actually gave you know the state of Nebraska a huge compliment and she said hey I'm lucky that I came from Nebraska where B ball has always been a big deal so I was lucky and Carrie your high school team has been very successful and she said hey high school volleyball has always been this big of a deal so I've been lucky I've experienced this my whole career um so things like tomorrow night haven't been they're not brand new to me because it's always been treated like that in Nebraska and Carrie is would you agree with what she said said is it that big of a deal yeah it's like a huge deal so we always have these like State like events for State Sports in like Nebraska like which like all states do and like Nebraska like the volleyball they get a play at Dean like the championship is at Dean so I feel like like it's volleyball it's like the number one in Nebraska I feel like and Ellie Glock like my sister played Ellie Glock in the state championship like in Dean and I feel like there's just always like this amazing atmosphere there and there's just always like I said this expectation of like Nebraska volleyball is like so legit because like even with like clubs like coming from Nebraska like they're always like so like good and strong so Gabby I want to ask you because uh you and I talked right after Triple Crown uh this year and I I'm a slow learner to this whole club thing so I I I hadn't got to watch you guys when you were younger and I was so impressed with uh with your game face and just what a competitor you were um and it takes that it takes that to survive at Nebraska right you guys all know how competitive the gym is and everything is that is that one of the things that really attracted you to Nebraska because I think you guys all know how competitive you have to be from day one yeah I think you know day in and day out they go in there and it's super competitive and they have to work really hard um and I know that's something I really like that's something that Legacy kind of preaches so I really wanted that like a coaching and a program and so I think that's one of the reasons they hold each other to such high expectations and that's one of the reasons they're so good because they have to go in there every day and they have to fun um but I think they well and and we asked some of you know even some of the other recruits like do you do you pinch yourself when you think about hey it's the NCA opener and it's on the ESPN and the whole country is gonna be watching and I think that's my school I would be right but I also wasn't an elite athlete like you guys were and then I think Nebraska commits have to expect that and and not in a vain way not in a cocky way but when you sign in Nebraska you better expect that because that's what they expect every year Ryan I I see you shaking your head yeah absolutely I feel like when you commit to Nebraska you understand that there is a standard and there's a legacy behind everything that has to do with Nebraska volleyball so it's just like when you walk when you walk in the gym you kind of understand that you're here for a reason they chose you for a reason and you kind of just have to live up to that and trust yourself and know that you are where you are supposed to be and you're there for a reason the yeah I sorry I didn't mean to cut you off we um coach Paulie and I got got into this conversation today and you know the athletes better better than I do and and Gabby like I said you um uh you have well they kind of have a pipeline going with uh with Legacy right with uh you know one of your Club mates on the team and then uh Campbell going next year and then yourself um but you guys talked to a lot of the current players do you think they feel a lot of pressure being there and knowing how high the expectations do you guys get that feeling like there's [Music] pressure to win every year or is it more of an honor to play at Nebraska does that make any sense like is there pressure like we have to win because we're at Nebraska or is it more of an honor that we get to play at Nebraska does that make does that make any sense to you guys what I'm asking yeah anybody want to answer that I mean I think like when you commit to playing Nebraska I think the pressure is like a privilege um and like like I mean like Nebraska go like it's obviously a great school and so I think like the honor just comes with that and like knowing like how great it's been for as long as it has been but um I just think the pressure is a privilege and I think that when you commit you want that pressure you know to playing those big games and stuff like that well I think we talked about I I added that you know we talked about um the sophomore class with you know um to boy and Harper and and Bergen who's from my hometown and I'm like man they're they're so talented and they were so great last year I I mean I get it they came up they came up just short right and they were so devastated I get you know you beat yourself up a little bit right because you you came up short but man I I just hope they they don't beat themselves up so much and put so much pressure on themselves that they don't you know what I mean like you are some of the best a you know uh some of the best athletes in the world if we really break it down right like yeah put that pressure on yourselves but I also really hope they enjoy themselves because they're so so talented and he had a bad night right like that's human nature you know I and you guys talk to him like like I right is there joy in playing there and and I hope they really enjoy because some of them it seems like they put so much pressure on themselves that you know none of us are exactly perfect and um I I I think sometimes there's that pressure to be perfect and and you guys get that is it Carrie you you would understand that right because you've been around the camps your whole life and and is it a joy there or is there so much pressure um I think like what Gabby said like pressure is a privilege and I think like from like being like around all the girls and everything and like getting to know them I think they find joy and like having the pressure and like they realize that not everyone like gets like the same experience and like the same like Honors that they get so I think that they take it as like a privilege like Gabby said and they find like the joy in everything that they're like doing there and I think they find it like very cool how like Nebraska volleball is like the spotlight sometimes in like that aspect so I think they find joying it yeah and do you guys say ke how are you hi I'm great good good good well want say hi I mean because I hope you all think that a you literally are one percenters there's you only get the opportunity to do what less than 1% of the people do and they don't recruit just anybody right so to get the opportunity to do and do what that person is an honor in itself right and it's just something that a not everybody gets to do but not everybody can do um is there but what what is it like when you guys watch tomorrow night um first of all are you guys able to or do you have high school games uh I don't think I'll be able to yeah I have I have a high school game yeah I have practice so game tomorrow so I'll probably to watch it I'm going to watch it yeah I'm definitely watching it yeah well whatever technology you guys have and then um hustle home and watch it because a I don't know if you heard our interview with uh Jamie Gordon the director of the ABCA but um The Fan Experience it's gonna be different than watching any other uh college game so record it watch it when you get back um and then I mean the Louisville Wisconsin game might not get over till midnight so um you could watch that but uh the when you watch it when you think about it just I mean do you guys still get to be like high school kids a little bit and pinch your and be like I'm gonna be there right like Ryan like I'm gonna be there next year yeah does it ever yeah yeah it's it's so surreal because I never would have thought I started volleyball at a very late age so it's just like to think that I will be able to you know have that college like Nebraska volleyball experience in less than five months and I basically started like volleyball and like four and a half like four and a half years ago it's so crazy just that like one day like that will be me and I'll I'll be in their shoes eventually well and it was weird today when they walked through right when they when they all walked in and seeing Skyler and Livy mock right and I I just had to kind of double take like seeing them actually now in uniform and walking in with the seniors right and I kind of a double take like oh yeah they're they're at that level now and in a couple years they'll be the seniors right but it it's weird that you guys I would think that it still like use the word surreal that's perfect um that you're you're part of that now and you guys have well I guess I you're still verbals I guess but uh doing that but so do you guys do you guys have like a chat group you guys communicate or is it still like how does that work when when y all verbal do you guys chat with each other or is that something you wait until you commit how how does that how does that go yeah I feel like with like the USA like NDP stuff and everything you like get like a really good bond with the players and you kind of like get their like views on colleges and like what they're looking at so like I'm just going to like for example like when like Ryan committed I was like really happy and we already had like a really like strong bond so that was like also really cool and like I know Campbell and T like they like go and play like overseas together with USA and I know they're like very close so I know like in our class and then like manah committed like later and I know like we all like a very tight Bond and we like keep in touch like recently like we keep in touch a lot so yeah we all have like a like a Snapchat group chat of the 25s it's nice because we all we all already know each other so it's easy to connect and just communicate with each other yeah Gabby Jaden ke what do we have a 26 Snapchat group yet or what's going on there yeah we for sure have a group chat um on messages and we like we've been texting each other about our officials and just like getting like not getting to know each other but like also just like um C like catch in up with each other as well yeah well uh I think that makes it a lot easier when you guys transfer in I got to ask you before I let you go because um I like I said I'm not making fun of myself I'm just being real um I never came even close to even getting like a college cool College pamphlet let alone an invite to a Dream Team Camp okay so I get to live like vicariously through you guys what tell me the inside scoop on who how cool Dream Team Camp is Dream Team Camp is like really cool um I think I got my first invite when I was going into my freshman year I'm pretty sure and it's like basically just like an outlook on like how like Nebraska volleyball does their like systems like their styles of practice and everything so I think dream team is really nice for like an eye opener to like all the recruits and everything and like what you're getting yourself into and they always like tell each other like what their why is and like the Nebraska culture is very tight and I feel like they like showed us that aspect in dream team because like when we huddled up and like we cornered up they always made sure that we figured out like what each other's why was and what our purpose of like volleyball is and our goals in each other so I think they're like I don't know like their bond is like really like together and like their team culture is just really special and you really got a taste of that like at the Dream Team camp and then is it true they take you like get a big time tour of the locker room and Ryan you're shaking your head how for us mediocre athletes out there um how is that Nebraska locker room oh it's beautiful it's kind of like a I'd say like it's kind of like a man cave like it's like it's it's nicely decorated there's like a whole bunch of snacks it's just like whenever you're probably not playing volleyball I think that's like definitely hands down where everyone hangs out because it's just it's so nice yeah Jaden what other what Hidden Treasures or recruiting tricks do they have at at Dream Team Camp um for me I haven't been to a Dream Team Camp so I haven't really like visited the campus yet well I mean you probably get an automatic invite next year I gotta I gotta behave so I get invited but maybe next summer that's our maybe we both get our first invite yeah Keon what about what about you you gotta um tell us what's one more thing about Dream Team camp we got to see um well like krie said the bond is like crazy like I never felt like I was just there it was always fun like being with the girls and obviously playing volleyball but I would say also just like us being in the locker room um like as she said Ryan said it was really nice and like just being there with the girls and like putting on music and like looking around and being on the couches and stuff was just fun and like not only that but like being in the court with everyone was fun I now Kona now that we finally have you here I mean you young lady you almost gave hus Nation um a heart attack you made him wait I mean you really they you had him on pins and needles for like a month and a half young lady yeah I just really want to be sharing my choic I always love Nebraska but I just wanted to wait it out but waiting out really showed me that like that's where I want to be so I'm really happy that I waited out and saw like Nebraska is definitely where I wanted to go so it was fun hey I was okay with it because you made their chat board so much more interesting so I I wish there have been more people everybody else made it boring so thank you okay I'm just teasing you I'm just teasing you so uh so we have uh predictions um does Kentucky give him a match is it three z um how how do you guys think um do you guys think Nebraska comes out really focused tomorrow and just really takes care of business do you think they um there's a little rust I mean obviously there's the answer is they come out extremely focused but how how does that go after after a long off seon and I mean I know how hard they've worked but Ryan I'm gonna ask you the veteran and and put you on the spot but how does that go when you train so hard and you're so ready to get back on the court does sometimes that put a little extra pressure on you and maybe you're little sloppy or do you think they just come out looking like they did all last season um I feel like there definitely will be a whole bunch of pressure um as far as them I'd say last year was pretty great but also at the end it got a little rough so I feel like there's pressure there for them to um you know show what they've been working on and show how hard they've been working on their offseason um as you know like they play Beach and so I feel like when when you have the beach you kind of focus on the fundamentals and all that so I know that that's something that they'll be you know locked in on but as far as the pressure um I feel like they'd come in focused because they know like again with standard they know that like okay we set this standard last year now let's come back in and [Music] yeah and just uh I think it'll be nice for them just to get back on the court don't you and and uh do what they love to do and play volleyball um and uh block out all the noise as people say but uh they uh well guys I'm gonna I'm GNA let y'all go I thank you for your time uh be excited to follow your high school seasons and congratulations I think it's cool cool um well I think it's beyond cool that you're going to Nebraska and doing what so few people get the opportunity uh to do and uh uh when you get there uh make sure you guys enjoy it you know how hard you have to work you know how hard you guys have work to get the opportunity but well make sure you enjoy um you enjoy the opportunity okay um and as you can see by how many people we have tuned in uh you're going to have the fan base Carrie knows that um you guys know that you're going to have the whole state and Husker Nation Carrie it be it expands Way Beyond just Nebraska doesn't it yeah for sure yeah yeah for sure all right well guys thank you for your time uh make sure tune in to ESPN 2 whenever you guys can and everybody this is uh part of the bright bright future of Nebraska volleyball and ladies thanks for your time and have a great High School season okay thank you have a great day
