Start what's up guys welcome back to news wve yesterday astrobot reviews went live and well it shocked a lot of people because not only do we now have our game of the year front runner we also might have one of the best rated games coming out of Sony in history so we'll go over all of that here today also we are going to be talking about Sony's 30th Anniversary for PlayStation as they did announce bunch of things like like board games a free-to-play version of one of their big uh big first party titles and the PlayStation 5 Pro reveal apparently it was some strange stuff happening there we'll we'll check in on that and also be talking about the vision of Mana sales that have been revealed in Japan because unfortunately it's not looking great right now for that franchise so if you guys enjoy these videos make sure you hit that like button helps out a ton and if new here to the spawn wave Channel make sure you subscribe down below and of course members for the channel do get news wve early if You' like to learn more about that click the join button down below this video and we're going to Concord Controller And Game Jump In Value On eBay start today with Concord specifically the physical version as well as the controller because seemingly as soon as it was announced that this game was getting pulled off of store shelves and online sales would stop all of a sudden people were looking for the game which in that Essence it's like okay I want to get this thing that could end up being a collector's item down the road because well the word is it sold 25,000 copies at most and we know how the physical to digital split is there's really not many physical copies that are technically out there which means of course supply versus demand well you can see for yourself over on eBay some of the copies of Concord going for $100 or more remember this a $40 game so it's more than doubled its price at times almost tripled it and then if you look at the controller that again was released alongside of the game Sony thought this was going to be a big thing well that went from $85 up to $26 it is very strange stuff because I don't think this is going to become a collector's item I guess technically the controller doesn't say Concord anywhere on it but that brand itself that name is completely tainted at this point and I I really don't think it's coming back even if it does as Concord so I guess if you don't mind potentially buying a $40 coaster in some cases $ 80 to $100 coaster you can try your luck and see what happens but I'm not expecting this thing to be any more than well another copy of Mag years down the line also we Balatro Heads To Mobile And Apple Arcade did have an announcement for batra where it will be going to more platforms and we'll probably cut down on productivity across the world we can see this on kamasu they say publisher play stack and developer local thk will release batro for iOS via app store and Android via Google Play on September 26 for $10 the company's announced it's also going to be available via Apple arcade for the so many people out there dozens who who have it LO I mean it's it's a good service for what it is since if you technically have a Mac and maybe you have a free trial for it it's worth checking in on there's no microtransactions that subscription and you just download all these different games which now would include batos that is a good addition and this makes a ton of sense by the way to go to mobile phones because if you have played it yeah it would work fine there and it is incredibly addicting which means at that point it will be following you around at all times in your pocket but perfect game to just pick up for a few minutes when you get a chance just trying to kill some time yeah that that would work perfectly and 10 bucks I mean it's pretty much a no-brainer at that point on mobile phones really on any device you can pick it up on oh and we're going Concord's Secret Level Episode Will Air to go back to Concord here for for a moment uh because there were still some questions around Amazon series coming up here that being secret level so this is just a bunch of separate stories of really leaning into themes around different games one of them was Concord and naturally people are wondering okay what happens with that again Sony thought this was going to be a big thing for people who say that they didn't back Concord oh no they seem to have big plans for this thing becoming a a big franchise seemingly well we do have this from IGN where they say Concord will remain in Amazon secret level despite its sudden cancellation IG has learned from a source close to production I mean at this point look it's it's done obviously the thing's coming out in December like they be streaming these episodes clearly it's ready to go I don't really know why you would pull it out of the loop then I mean at that point hey more people would probably learn of Concord as just an episode in this in this series I mean seriously there are many people who have no idea what Concord is because the marketing wasn't very good in general and in this case hey maybe they'll closely align it just with the fun series they saw on Amazon technically then it can't be worse than relating it to the the video game that it originally originated from Astro Bot Reviews Are In and guys with some of the quick news out of the way let's get into the bigger stuff let's start right away with t- Mobi and astrobot this has been a very very exciting release that I've been looking forward to and I can't wait to jump into this one and honestly by the time you're seeing this video I've probably already started it because I think I was just going to start playing it at midnight when it came out and I think I was thinking about making a video maybe just kind of recording some of my initial Impressions and gameplay as I was going through it because I do feel like that's a game that as you're playing through and you're discovering a lot of stuff it's just going to be fun which is what you want out of a video game right turns out a lot of reviewers indeed wanted that because you can see the current score on Metacritic coming in at a 94 that's by the way on 112 Critic reviews we're not talking about like oh it has 15 or 20 reviews and it's not even no no 112 Critic reviews I mean it's glowing pretty much across the board here many perfect scores and I mean the split was 110 positive zero mixed zero negative and I I'm not kidding when I say this is being viewed right now as one of the best 3D Platformers ever made in fact we can look on Metacritic you can actually sort by 3D Platformers I'll glude it on the list for you okay Super Mario Galaxy that's that's in the one spot along with Mario Galaxy 2 and Super Mario Odyssey those are all rated at 97 by the way and and then the fourth slot is astrobot at 94 that's actually above things like Super Mario 3D World Banjo Kazooie uh conquer bad Furay in there looks like Journey Mario Sunshine I mean look the the point here is this is actually would be considered a generational release overall I mean if you go over on open critic you can sort just by best games release and they even have it of the generation and then you start to scroll down I mean you see astrobot is above out of War it's actually a 95 on open critic by the way above uh above that game so that is that's impressive stuff just all the way around for this game that I mean look it's from teamobi we know what happened with Japan Studios Sony pretty much shut them down and then remnants of it work to form teamobi and then they of course were hiring on and they have grown in size and we've seen them do some really cool things with most recently we had Astros playroom which was awesome but it did need to be I think a big game to really reach that point of okay this is going to break into the mainstream as not quite a full price game cuz it's 60 versus 70 although people still look at that I'm sure as a full price because technically is on platforms like say the switch but but nonetheless this is a full-fledged release for them that has had the marketing campaign put behind it where they've done things like put big pinball machines in the middle of a like a like a Town Square or somewhere and they you see ads running all over the place for it Sony is fully behind this thing thing we have the controller coming up that I'm going to get in and we'll we'll unbox that as well uh but this I think is a big moment just right now for Sony to be paying attention to because we see the review scores it at this point team Mobi has done their job they've put out a game that is high quality it's a blast to play it's fun now the question becomes Will the Market respond favorably to this okay because this is in very much contrasting against everything else that Sony has done recently where we get the more mature mat rated sort of games right that are uh dark and brooding and and deals with more mature themes very narrative driven and astrobot I mean you start playing the game immediately and yes there is very little story technically compared to some of the other stuff but it plays like you would expect a video game to play that's Mark cery himself said hey wow this is a video game yeah I mean I mean it is but this is something that would lean heavy into the mainstream consumer that likes things like like a 3D Mario game so I'm hoping oping that this game catches on sells millions and millions of copies and maybe makes Sony do a double take the next time they go to Greenlight some of these projects which yes I know Concord is one that is really being discussed now but there are others that you can look around and be like hey could some of that money be a lot it to maybe something that's a bit different than the third person narrative driven over the shoulder experience like what we're seeing here with astrobot especially since now astrobot would technically be the front runner for Game of the Year it's the highest rated game it's now a couple of points above Final Fantasy 7 rebirth and it is very difficult one to break into the '90s as we've seen pretty much all year but two to get like 94 plus I mean that is like rare territory so uh this is it's impressive stuff it's going to be very interesting at the end of the year if we do indeed have astrobot there and it Wins Game of the Year not a very common thing to see so that's it kind of makes things very very intriguing as we get towards the end of the year but for now I'm just going to pick up astrobot and have a blast this weekend and I'm sure we'll talk a bit about on the podcast Saturday night and then also on click R3 the PlayStation podcast next week next up let's talk about Sony and Sony PlayStation 30th Anniversary Celebration Begins their 30th Anniversary for PlayStation Now the PlayStation brand was launched obviously with the PS1 in December 1994 in Japan so naturally we're coming up on 30 years of the brand so Sony as you would expect wants to do some sort of celebration for it now they did make some announcements here and it was kind of underwhelming but I do want to remind everyone that this as they themselves say is sort of the start of things to come and I have some suggestions for them which I'm sure they're all ears for but we'll we'll touch on that here in a bit as well as how this actually led to a pretty big oversight on their part because I I feel like they just leaked their new console coming up here soon but anyway let's start over on Playstation blog um this that you can see at the top celebrating 30 years of PlayStation so to start they do do have something called my first GT apparently this is just like a like a free version of Gran Turismo 7 it's going to include some of the favorite cars tracks race events and the idea here is to evoke The Nostalgia and excitement of the first GT experience just a way to kind of get people into the game right they they again called a free trial version so I'm sure it will be fairly limited but just a way to get your foot in the door and try it out now they also have digital game soundtracks that's in collaboration with Sony movie so each month from October through January they'll released for the first time on Spotify a set of digital soundtracks from fan favorite PlayStation franchises they list some of them here like the God of War titles they have Twisted Metal Starhawk Unit 13 which is okay sure why not they also have a uh an interesting we'll say playlist that they set up over on Spotify people check that out and they also announced shapes of play this is a collection of products that are crafted by the team behind the designs of PlayStation consoles give you opportunities to create fun memories with their iconic shapes so they have shapes of play that looks like I guess like stress balls or something and they have shapes of play create which are magnetic blocks and you can make stuff out of them obviously PlayStation themed colors I guess there and they have shapes of play Battle it's a board game so technically yes they they've announced especially recently more board games than first party games but I mean hey there you go shapes of play look they should have something coming up here pretty soon there's word that a state of play is coming up so sit tight a bit not too much longer and they also have free online multiplayer weekend and Esports tournaments and such uh coming up here now they do close out saying as we celebrate 30 years of play these upcoming activities and releases are just a taste of what's to come be on the lookout for more announcements in the near future so to me the obvious thing here is to have a control that's themed after the original PlayStation color scheme like a dual sense controller and probably something with the plates on the side of the PS5 system like you could do a gray color scheme with maybe some PS1 stuff in there I think that would be really cool they also play around with PlayStation stars but even that's kind of sketchy right now or maybe just other pieces of merchandise to go alongside of what should be a really big celebration for them I mean 30 Years start really from the start up until now that is a big that is a big thing for them so I'm hoping they have other fun ideas and plans set up as they go along and I mean think about it they have really one of the best games that's out during the holiday season for 30 years of PlayStation with astrobots since that has all these different cameos so it has lined up very nicely here for them so I'm hoping they're able to cap it off with something really really cool hopefully again a controller that I would be interested in picking up Sony Confirms PS5 Pro By Accident? but as they were going through this they released a graphic for the 30th Anniversary that that might have shown us the PS5 Pro early which we can actually take a look at here now Wario 64 was tweeting out all the different screenshots for this that go along with that 30th Anniversary blog post and part of that had like the logo up which you can see here kind of zoomed out with the with the 30th anniversary in the PlayStation logo however as people were looking around it because you can see it's like a white background and then you have shapes of different controllers accessories systems there's a UMD in there but they're like a lighter shade of gray so it's kind of hard to see initially but then people started zooming in just like oh let's see what exactly they have where and they noticed something so at first you can see there is a PlayStation 5 which is pretty obvious from the side view where it has that one line kind of slightly diagonal down there okay yeah that's the side of a PS5 and then people noticed oh wait there's one here that has multiple lines going across which okay they have four lines and then obviously three that are solid which is exactly the same design that uh dlabs had had sketched if you remember now there's also one here that Wario 64 posted where people were going through an editing kind of fill it out and yeah it looks the side view of the PS5 Pro that we're expecting I to go a little further Insider gaming did have a write up and also mention that they're expecting based on sourcing that the PS5 Pro is coming out in November which yeah we're in September now you give it a couple of months to hit production and distribution I mean this this point November makes sense you're not going to put the thing out in December that is way too late because you do want a probably a sellout and then an an an initial restocking ahead of the holidays I just thought this was really funny because it seems like miscommunication or just they had their timing slightly off maybe they thought no one would notice although the question here is would we have noticed actually if that dlab sketch didn't come out I mean I guess you would look at and be like oh what is that I don't I don't really know what that maybe you would have kind of drawn up like the comparison and then kind of put two and two together and said oh maybe that's the Pro Design but now we look at and go okay that's the Pro Design because we had the sketch from DBS who saw the packaging like the the box that's going to be on store shelves so yeah weird stuff here from Sony but the idea now is based on stuff going around that in the next week or so they'll announce the PS5 Pro and then the following week they'll have a state of play so the expectation I think right now is next week trailer press release any other information probably pricing as well right uh for the PS5 Pro just to get that out there and then the following week they start talking about a ton of games ahead of Tokyo game show that hopefully include some first-party stuff because people are definitely looking right now at you know Naughty Dog Sucker Punch uh Sony Santa Monica blueo like okay guys what do you have for us because we've gone most of the generation just waiting to hear something substantial so here's hoping they're able to deliver and in our last Famitsu Sales Chart bit of news let's talk about the famitsu sales charts in Japan they track week to we sales and well we got our look at Visions of Mana which if you remember the studio was basically shut down or B or pretty much cut down to a skeleton crew as they worked to close it down on release for the game so like the plans were in place and I guess the marketing that went into it kind of reflects that because it it wasn't like a ton but now we see some of the numbers here which we can see post up over on install base forum and we can start at the top here gunam breaker 4 coming in at 52825 copies on the switch we have umam masum pretty derby party Dash that's the 37,9 39 on the switch Gunner breaker 4 then again on the PS5 and then visions of mana on the PS5 3,696 emo The Smiling man in there on the switch at 25,000 copies which again we've talked about this uh this franchise not exactly being the biggest selling ever so I think at this point they're pretty happy with even like sales numbers like that just to see that the franchise is I guess trending in the right direction as it has been again one a while since one came out I know they've remade him on the switch but it's it's been a bit since a new entry then we have Gundam Breaker 4 then we have Nintendo switch Sports Star Wars Outlaws then visions of Mana again this is on the PS4 10,068 copies and then Mario Kart 8 Deluxe moving over to Hardware the switch had a pretty big jump 63,65 which seems to go alongside of the top two games that we just talked about clearing uh I mean that those two together almost 90,000 copies with party Dash and Gundam Breaker 4 so does kind of make sense why there's an uptick although it's a bit more than I would expect and then you can also see the PS5 33865 as people were rushing out to buy them ahead of the price increase that happened at the beginning of this week on the 2nd then the Xbox series even saw a noticeable jump to 778 systems and the PS4 as well to 91 as for visions of Mana when compared as some were doing on install base 4 and pulling up some of the older numbers there something like Trials of Mana it's it doesn't look good I mean okay so this is a this is a game that should do fairly well in Japan on release and it's at what 40,700 copies combined PS5 PS4 if you go back to just Trials of mana on the PS4 that cleared 880,000 units just on Sony's platform at that time that's not to include the the trials of mana on the switch that was just over 70,000 copies combined there 150,000 copies Plus yeah that doesn't look good and it's it's hard to say at this point when it comes to the Mana series I know it was very popular obviously with the Super Nintendo and stuff super famicom and when it made the return there with with uh with Trials of Mana did very well visions of Mana just really hasn't caught on much I mean we saw the review scores were very middling they they weren't great and after that happened we really just haven't seen anyone talk about it also because it may just be getting kind of lost in the shuffle right now there is a lot of stuff coming out and I mean I really have haven't had a lot of time to play the game much at all at this time and I was looking forward to it but there's so much hitting I spent like an hour on it and I would like to get back to it but now I'm thinking about like astrobot we have Zelda coming up and then you get into October and there's a ton of other stuff happening so it's unfortunate stuff here for the Mana series because I kind of think this is basically it for it at least for a long long time with the studio behind it being shut down and it not really showing a lot of sales potential I just don't really know what studio or publisher whoever is jumping up out of their chair to fund another one right now and before we go to the Poll comment of the day we'll take a look at the poll that I posted up yesterday where I ask now that the reviews are in are you buying astrobot look at that we have 46% say yes we have a poll where the majority of people are buying the game now I did put I don't have a PS5 as an option because I realize there are probably people say no because they don't have PS5 so I'm learning with these polls okay I'm figuring it out but yeah 32% don't have a PS5 I'm curious if anyone will go out and buy a PS5 or seek one out even in the Ed Market we'll say uh to play astrobot I'm curious if people consider that a system seller and then no is just at 22% so like I said I'm ready to go I may have already posted a video of me playing the game with some of my initial Impressions by the time you're seeing this video so I guess keep an eye out for that one and Comment Of The Day we'll finish up with the comment of the day as you're seeing here this is from Jason who says Sony could have made bloodborne 2 and three with the $250 million they blew on Concord so I've been trying to figure out where a lot of these budget numbers are coming from because there are some Wild Ones getting thrown around at times I wonder if some of the people creating like these budget estimates follow gaming that much I'm not sure because we do get a lot of information coming out around this and estimates from different analysts and like we even had some of the developers say oh yeah 2019 we were working out of an adct there's a couple of us so it hasn't been in full scale production for eight years okay again conceptual stage they start pre-production and then eventually you ramp up production based on some of the conversations I've had and some of information is getting thrown around I'd say the current estimated budget for Concord is anywhere from I'll say 60 to100 million somewhere in there I would probably lean closer to the100 million Mark so yes still a catastrophic failure for what Sony was expecting from it clearly with a lot of the effort they were putting in even outside of just the game but it's not necessarily on the level of $250 million but they absolutely could have funded something else completely provided they were able to put the team together that's the other part people forget when it comes to making games it's not just about the money can you find people that can actually come together and have the passion to create what you're asking them to and ladies and gentlemen that's going to do it here for news wve if you enjoyed this video guys hit that like button if not hit the dislike leave comments down below about everything we talked about here today if you missed yesterday's news wve I'll have it up here in a card and hopefully I'll posted that astrobot footage by now some of my initial Impressions and I'll be posting that right below at them thanks guys for watching and I'll see you next time
