Christmas party started shall we please welcome Ricky jaas Jack White Hall and Sam [Applause] Ryder Christmas like a wonderful it's like the three wise men or not maybe yeah um lovely stop I stitched myself now anyway moving on we have realized that you all have one thing in common which is wembly Stadium because you were there weren't you last Wednesday yeah this Wednesday I just gone yeah yeah Jack you're there next week yeah Sam you have performed there mhm but I think you can actually beat the other two because apparently you built it uh Loosely like I very I put a couple of hinges on some doors and uh leveled some floor about it you're in the cre you picture of the place I'll show you I'll show you what we did yeah exactly yeah uh Ricky let's start with you man I mean the armor getting tour it broke so many records it lasted am I right just over a year you you're there doing it is that one of those thoughts when you finish it you go or do you miss it yeah no I it feels good um and I'd filmed it and you want to get it you as soon as you film it you want to finish it and get it out as soon as possible so it was pretty perfect I filmed it in um October and I I I finished it uh day before yesterday and it's out Christmas Day so it's it's perfect but yeah um and it doesn't get any better it's so luxurious it's not like I'm in a back of a Transit van you know what I mean I'm going to lovely places staying in lovely I can't moan it's um it's fantastic but yeah I it's probably my biggest one ever um but um it was uh it was it was my favorite as well so we can all see it as you said Christmas day on Netflix yeah what can we expect then in this one Loosely uh it's just more me really it's the mo if you like me right you're going to love this it's more me than ever if you don't like me you are going to hate it don't watch it don't watch you know you're not going to like it you know you're not going to like it so don't watch it all right well you you've had your warning let's have a look my last show super nature dropped on Netflix last year um big back Clash wasn't there big oh big back Clash people were going you can't say that you can you can I did um yeah the inevitable backlash which made it the most watch special of the year so I've learned my lesson I love it go you won't believe how hard it is to find a clip for the one show oh no we know we know that is the only 30 seconds only bit it was the only clip rest absolutely not no no it was the only thing we could show but it's a lovely clip nonetheless you know we mentioned it a second ago ticket sales broke records unbelievable right you're you're traveling around the world doing this why do you think you know your comedy why do you think it travels so well um I don't know I think I talk about Universal subjects you know AIDS Hitler famine we've got that clip as well yeah um I just think I talk about big subjects you know uh I don't know I think people I think people are tired of being patronized they want to they want to go there they want to laugh about bad things I even say in that that's what humor's for to to laugh at bad things to get us over bad things to face too in the face they're not that scary I think the more people go I I when I first did this tour I put out a tweet I said tell me the one thing you should never talk about in comedy yeah thousand people said a thousand different things and I knew they would that was my set list yeah nice but the thing is loads of people came to see it they did but they all helped in a way the animals yes because you know there's a side of view this is that people don't know about lots of people but go on tell us um well we put the sort of most expensive seats um uh on sale to cut out the touts cuz that touts usually buy um the best seats and they put a huge mark up they they sell them for five in a quid so we put them out uh you know a market price like 2300 and people who could afford it bought those you know the seats and I donated the money to an animal charity and we raised nearly 2 million wow thank wow that's incredible I mean as well we saw Golden Globe nominations come out as well you you're nominated for a Golden Globe I can't believe it yeah I mean what being on the the nominee side of things would you prefer to be hosting an award show or receiving the award uh well there's less pressure receiving the award that's fun I it's like um the last time I did the Golden Gloves was 2020 and they invited me to do it and I said yes they I kept saying no and they persuaded me and I thought well that's Christmas ruined do you know what I mean cuz you're worried about it and I write I you have to write it and then you get one go at it so it's the most nerve-wracking thing I ever do I'm never nervous with doesn't matter what it is cuz i' I know I can say what I want and I I've done it you know 100 times but with the Golden Globes it's there's a lot of pressure cuz you don't all I don't I don't want to fluff a joke I don't care what the reaction is I don't care who's offended I don't care what the papers say yeah but I don't want to fluff that joke yeah you know so you and I can't practice to you know a million people beforehand you get one shot so that is more nerve-wracking than sitting in an audience waiting to win an award well that well there you go well you got that luxury this time yeah exactly this is better um Armageddon is out on Netflix on Christmas day yeah more from Ricky throughout the show plus Jack will be telling us about his bad education Christmas special when Sam's performing his brand new Christmas song but first we're talking Christmas traditions now there's been Lots in the papers recently about how some are dying out whilst others are still going strong now one of this is strictly gang Nikita cander has been finding out more there are lots of Christmas traditions that have been handed down to us through the generations like lighting the Christmas pudding going in or sending Christmas cards but a recent survey has suggested that some of these Traditions are dying out with the younger generation turning their back on them so I've come to Birmingham to see how people are planning to celebrate this year do you do anything like watching The King's speach on Christmas day no what about going Christmas Caroline no roasting chestnuts no why do you think that might be definitely cuz it's boring I think it's a bit sad cuz Christmas is all about G together but a long young people don't really want to be doing that kind of stuff and I think a lot of older people aren't teaching the younger kids how to do it properly anymore is this tradition that you have to wear the lights of course well you won't be able to lose him will you so what do you watch at Christmas cuz everyone's got the TV on well I must admit it's strictly for us big fans and this one loves bouncing to the theme tune do you still send cards to your friends and family yeah I do get quite sentimental with stuff like that like a nice little card for your neighbors usually oh I'll get you one you need to get me one I got text like as a Christmas card which makes me sad like you know what happens to the old tradition of like a beautiful envelope you feel like they value you actually do you think there's any New Traditions that younger people are doing instead definitely secret Sant I know I'm doing it at school as well with my friends doesn't feel like Christmas if we don't do it we all have to do like a little performance a song or a Caroll or dance or Santa Claus traditional Christmas dinners could be at risk too it said that 34s of young people are ditching the Christmas spread and going for things like Curry and Pizza on Christmas day we're really untraditional and we actually go out for a curing so you do on Christmas day so what are the benefits of going out for Christmas and not having it at home no preparation no shopping no washing off what do you think about some people now are going for a curry or pizza or Christmas day well I think he would like to as long as you put a bit of tinsel on it I wouldn't mind though you can have that any time of the year need to have Christmas dinner and Christmas Day and what is on the Christmas dinner plate we're doing Christmas pizzas so you're all for the pizza and what are the toppings going to be got turkey PX and blankets cranberry sauce and stuffing so you're sticking with the toppings they're traditional but you don't want to be in the kitchen for hours I think family time is the most important for our for our first Christmas [Music] Christmas oh look at the babba see you see you're you're talking about the baby because you're upset with what people were saying I can't I can't have a curry and a pizza day have it boxing day go for your life but not Christmas whatever you want I think have whatever you want we actually had uh some uh some traditions from you guys at home Diana said uh it always been a tradition in our family to have a pork pie for breakfast on Christmas day oh that's quite heavy with what you're going into yeah isn't it the jelly yeah 100% yeah yeah and Alan says our Christmas starts with circling the radio times see like do that well um now I imagine Jack that your parents are traditional sort of people are you going to be talking about the whiteall family Christmas traditions next week on tour does it feature I mean we had the weirdest tradition we have was my dad used to make a stand for the queen speech every year but not just for the national anthem for the duration of the speech really and even on my first birthday my mom found some old like home footage of him holding me up by the arms as as a baby to make sure that I was standing for the spee which is INS will not be doing yeah he still has to do it um the tour is called settle down and of course you've had a little baby a little daughter called Elsie how's it all going then being a dad uh yeah good yeah I mean it's quite a lot it's quite full on it's quite a lot I uh they don't off boarding school a lot sooner and I'm having to do a lot of work my girlfriend is doing way more work to be clear um but she's yeah she's very sweet and I'm also finding myself like turning into the parent that I swore I would never become like well I said that I wouldn't be that guy that's like showing everyone photographs of their children first thing I did when I saw you I had the camera phone out I was like I'm that person now she's gor a King speech precisely you'll be holding up hey now look it is Christmas everyone loves a Christmas special bad education Christmas musical special is this something you always wanted to do I I think my problem is I don't really know what my limitations as a performer art and so I came up with this idea to do like a big all singing all dancing musical Christmas special I can't sing I can't dance like tonee two left feet so I come up with these ideas and then realize that I'm not capable of actually delivering them thankfully Leon Williams is in it as well who is incredible at all of those things so he carries the the show and he's the star of it and I have a sort of fleeting Cameo that they had to go to town on with the autotune afterwards CU it was an absolute disaster I mean I proud must be as well of liting in the strictly final amazing I mean he's just been incredible he yeah he's so great and and he's brilli obviously for 10 years and he was on the show like back in the day and I've watched him kind of flourish and seen his career take him to you know these headyy Heights and now watching him on Strictly every week and seeing him in the final yeah I feel a little bit like a sort of proud teacher he's he's amazing well there's a lot of pressure on him but he's risen to the challenge hasn't he yeah that jump split try it now yeah I T him that move but I couldn't in his Che it's time to see you performing because we've actually got L and J in bad education uh putting a strictly performance uh together take a look you will be visited by Spirits three each here to teach you a lesson he their words or become like me AAP with a case of depression and a boring song and a badile Steven please you must listen to the spirits yeah I think it's fine you're screwed SC was never me to be able to sing brilliant exactly so so Alfie makes a return in this one to AB gr is that right yeah I mean only only as a ghost in that one scene only as a GH now I'm really gone now it's just I need to stop going back to it now but uh yeah there's a new series in January as well with Leon and Charlie and and the whole new cast so that that kicks off in January as well but a lot of The Originals were in this one and that must have been good fun having everybody back together for a special yeah it's nice nice and it it does feel a little bit like a kind of school reunion every time we get back together and do something like this and I'm so fond of all of the cast and obviously you know have been doing it with them for a while so yeah it's always fun to sort of dip back into it but maybe no more singing if I do yeah when when you you know when you were filming that that show and you know still being a part of it now do you find yourself slip back into who you were at school do you know what I mean uh I mean I definitely I think when I'm hanging around with them like I feel way older though than I've ever done before because it's now a new cast of new kids and I felt old back in the day when I was doing it and now I feel even older and even more out of touch and even more cringe and everything I say just I hate myself but like that's why I can't go back to do it any longer CU that will only get worse as time progresses and iome even more tragic I mean but to be fair Sam I can imagine you at school did you have the long hair but did you not not so tragic but did you have the long hair at school you'd be spot on though to I bet you were a good boy though I was I was a bit I just cheeky I just um like being in the music room trying to learn the drums and yeah but we can guess about you Ricky we I I was a good boy were you I love school i' I'd love I love learning and I was cheeky I'd say things the teachers would you know not like sometimes but to make the rest laugh but I was good I I I went to school I never missed school I uh I I wanted to do all my o levels and a levels which I did and I was I was good mod pupil yeah yeah well the bad education yes um tell us about writing this one then uh was done in August and it was for a film um that was was on Amazon called your Christmas on mine oh yes we had the cast on yeah and it's funny you didn't know the name at the begin cuz nor did I really because this song has totally come out and no I was just saying a jack like in the break I was getting my mono brow plucked before this because we're so unexpected that this song is doing anything that music video I can't express how little money was spent on that actually and not offence Amazon if you're watching but you know as well as I do that but it was it's just so much fun we we kind of wrote it for for the movie uh thinking that you know like besides the audience watching that film it wouldn't bu asmosis kind of reach anywhere else into the charts or or anything like that but um just been totally taken by surprise so cool I mean people people are loving it I mean what does it take to write a Christmas tune in your opinion ah you nickel the best fits okay um well for me like my favorite era of Christmas songs late 80s early 90s so very like darling love focused um Tina Turner sounding saxophones so those big like Tim Tim Capello like ripping saxes yeah uh Julian guitars um like very much like the darkness um yeah like that wall of sound Phil Specta approach as well um I think it's really cool and a great jumper that always does it you see always yeah it's you that's why that's why people love it they love you um Ricky we worked out it's 20 years since the office Christmas special yeah yeah the day I mean people still love that watch it every Christmas yeah that's that's lovely look at me dancing jack was worried about him dancing the worst it's the worst thing it's nearly as bad as a sex scene which I'll never do or a nude scene but dancing is nearly as embarrassing as a new team we have the most iconic dance ever Brent one yeah you can get away with it if you're meant to be the worst dancer ever yeah but if I was ever out to Dance seriously I don't think I had to dance in the Muppet movie and they just got someone else to do the leg brilliant and I was embarrassed by that I was even embarrassed by sort of singing a dancing sort of Sil well I mean they I I said there's no way I'm going to do that so yeah it was it's awful but yeah it's this lovely people are still watching it it is um now whilst we let Sam get ready for our Christmas finale there's another treat on its way yes ahead of the strictly Grand final tomorrow we caught up with some of the show's biggest fans to hear how strictly has changed their
