back on your TV it took the first game of the season to already change the tune of the college football playoff conversation cuz Florida State a 10 and 1 Half Point favor against unranked Georgia Tech lost yesterday in Dublin Mike norell seminal entering the season ranked 10th in the country after an undefeated regular season last year for Tech it was their first win over a top 10 team since 2015 the team they beat then interesting Florida State as Paul fine bomb joins the program college football season can start Cuz Mr fine bomb is now on your dial Paul good to see you what was going through your mind as you watched the seals dropped the season opener abroad yesterday I kept expecting an attorney to walk out to Midfield and and slap U Ireland or or Guinness with with with a lawsuit they served too too many beers last night and because Florida State always finds someone else to blame when things don't go their way and and we saw that last year when they blame the media that they started suing their own league and it was really uh the worst possible start for a team that so many people expected to make the playoffs and I realize that's not over yet but the way they performed yesterday especially offensively uh this team better better better better go to better better called judge Duty or somebody because I don't think they're going to make it I mean getting run over by a middle of the road ACCC team it was music to the year of a lot of Florida State haters yesterday okay but for the ACC see maybe this opens the door for some other teams to rise to the top that two other ACC teams in the spotlight next weekend it's Clemson taking on Georgia and then Miami takes on Florida so between Clemson and Miami who do you have more faith in this season as a whole well not only next week but all season long I I believe in the Hurricanes it has been a a rough couple of years for mariio crisal remember he moved over from Oregon to try to resurrect that program down there now he's about the third coach in a that's tried to do that but they they have they have the tools this year they have the quarterback I think they have a lot of the compliments necessary in Gary I think in spite of a of an interesting schedule uh they're going to start off with Florida I think they can do it uh I I really believe it's time for the U to return maybe forget the turnover chain this time around try to try to win a couple of games before they start declaring the U as back but I think it starts next weekend in Gainesville okay can Miami get to dou digit wins in this regular making that was a major issue for him a year ago but his Dynamic playmaking ability was so key for this offense that completion there to Singleton late in the game sets up the game-winning field goal by bur the defense which was a big question mark heading into the season for Georgia Tech that looks completely different now under new defensive coordinator Tyler santui they got a really really tough schedule this season but after making this kind of statement win against last year's ACC Championship there's a lot of question marks and parody in the ACC this year this Georgia TCH team they look like they're for real now Jesse I have to ask you this is Florida state with a number 10 next to their name with DJ oui unle and other huge transfers that came in thinking you're going to contend for a national title where does this leave Florida state in the 12 team playoff format you can afford to lose one early you can probably afford to lose two and still get in the college football playoff but there right now for Florida State I think losing 10 NFL Draft picks losing the ACC player of the year last year in Jordan Travis that was a lot to have to regroup from and Mike norell certainly went out and he got a lot of talent in the transfer portal I think the more alarming thing today Joe is how Florida State got dominated in the trenches they couldn't run the football effectively after that first drive and defensively they got pushed around up front that is going to have to change it is going to be a long flight back for Florida State going back over the pond they've got to get themselves ready they got to get their mind right and flip the page before they take on a physical Boston College team next yeah Brent ke loves that offensive line play the head League zero and knocks off number 10 Florida State 24 to 21 and clearly not the start the sem old wanted to this season for a football team you know it's it's about you know where our response goes from here and uh you know obviously it's you know we're all hurt I mean you you come you work you you want to start off a season a certain way um and you know we we came up short of that tonight we've got to take a take a step as a as a football team and not let this one game uh Define you know the the outcome of what our season will be you know we get to respond and um you know here in a week from now you get to play another ACC opponent and um you know we got to we got to go get better our college football reporter Heather D didn't have to wait for the Mayhem the seminal they were double- digigit favorites coming into this match up against Georgia Tech and obviously this seol team looking to prove themselves after being left out of the college football playoff last year what do this lost mean for Florida State moving forward this season well the 12 team college football playoff is a much more forgiving system so if Florida State goes on to win the ACC and it won't if it keeps playing like that it's going to be guaranteed a spot because the five highest ranked Conference champions are guaranteed a spot in the 12 team field the four highest ranked Champs get a first round by Florida state has plenty of chances to impress the selection committee down the stretch they're going to be at Notre Dame they play Clemson they've got a really great schedule they have an SEC chance against Florida but everyone needs to have some patience to see how Georgia Tech fares is this a bad loss if Georgia Tech is out of the committee's top 25 on selection day then yes it is and remember Florida State if they don't win the ACC and they're being compared for an at llarge bid with big 10 teams and SEC teams how Georgia Tech fairs and how that loss is valued in the committee's meeting
