WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of Sid Udi better known to the WWE family as Sid Vicious Sid Justice and psycho Sid make no mistake about it Sid Vicious was bad to the bone Sid made his initial impact in WCW where his imposing 6'9 in frame struck fear into his opponents today through this video we'll look back at Sid's Incredible Journey in the world of professional wrestling love him or hate him there's no denying Sid made an impact in the world of professional wrestling his Pres pres and intimidating look were a promoter's dream back in the 9s from three runs in WCW and two in WWE along with stints in ECW and uswa Sid consistently found himself in Main Event spots wherever he worked he also commanded a big price tag from promoters eager for his Services Sid's career wasn't typical many of his decisions were based on money rather than how he'd be booked he didn't have the same passion for pro wrestling as others he often took time off to pursue his real passion softball this sometimes made him difficult to work with leading to some legendary stories within the wrestling industry without further Ado let's dive into the wrestling career of psycho Sid Sid was born on December 16th 1960 in Arkansas he worked on a farm growing up and as he got older he realized he had a knack for sports the story of how he broke into wrestling is conflicting Sid himself claimed that Randy Savage approached him in a gym and asked if he'd ever thought about getting into the business and the rest is history however Lanny Pao tells a different tale suggesting that Sid approached him at a wrestling show in Memphis asking how to get into the business according to pafo Sid was told to wear a tight shirt and return the next week to catch the attention of Jerry Jarrett or Jerry Lawler what's interesting about these conflicting stories is that they paint Sid in very different lights Sid's version suggests he was approached to become a wrestler while pao's story hints that Sid was eager and desperate to break into the business Sid has said my wife got pregnant and it sounded like I could make money faster so that's exactly how it happened I didn't have the same love for the business as others either way Sid got his break and made his debut in a tag match alongside Austin Idol against Nick bowinkle and Jerry The King Lawler Sid then adopted the ring name Lord humongous Sid went on to wrestle in Continental championship wrestling working under a mask as Lord humongous from there he also found work in New Japan Pro Wrestling and world class championship wrestling it was in world class that Sid began calling himself Sid Vicious a tribute to the basist from The Sex Pistols after gaining a good amount of experience Sid signed with WCW in 1989 still using the Sid Vicious name he formed a short-lived tag team with Dan Spivey known as the skyscrapers but an injury in a match against the Steiner sideline Sid leading to his replacement by Mark Callas and the team when he eventually healed up Sid was introduced as the newest member of The Four Horsemen in mid1 1990 filled as the muscle of the group however his first televised match back from injury was less than impressive he was defeated in 26 seconds by Lex Luger at Clash of the Champions one Sid's son later revealed that this might have been a punishment from the higher ups after Sid was seen playing softball while supposedly rehabbing his injury this wouldn't be the last time Sid was seen playing softball while under a wrestling contract still as a member of The Four Horsemen Sid began a feud with NWA Champion sting leading to a match at Halloween Havoc 1990 a fake sting led by Barry Windam was used in a plan for Sid to win the belt but the real sting eventually appeared in retain his title after Halloween Havoc Sid worked as a tweener for a while before being attacked by Curtis Hughes known as the big cat at Clash 19 prompting a brief reunion of the skyscrapers at starcade 1990 after the horsemen split in April 1991 Sid began negotiating with both WWF and WCW Dusty rhods the new Booker for WCW at the time wanted Sid to be a big attraction but Vince McMahon managed to lure Sid to the WWF with Promises of a main Main Event spot and big payoffs at WrestleMania however Sid later regretted his decision admitting that he was driven by money rather than promises and he ended up making significantly Less in WWF than he would have in WCW Sid's WWF career was marked by ups and downs including a failed Wellness test injuries and the infamous squeegee incident where Sid returned to a fight armed with nothing but a squeegee back in the WWF Sid was rebranded as Sid Justice and initially brought in as a baby face though it wasn't long before he turned heel he served as the special guest referee at SummerSlam 1991 but after an injury he missed Survivor series that year at the 1992 Royal Rumble Sid made it to the final four and eliminated both Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan But ultimately lost when Hogan upset over his elimination held on to Sid's arm from outside the ring allowing Ric Flair to eliminate Sid and win the title following a brief t team with Hogan Sid turned heel after walking out on Hogan during a match against the Undertaker and Flair this led to a WrestleMania 8 match between Sid and Hogan which was marred by a botched ending and poor in ring chemistry after WrestleMania Sid failed a wellness test but was allowed to work the European tour before he was expected to serve his suspension instead Sid chose to quit to play softball abandoning a planned Feud with the Ultimate Warrior Sid returned to WCW in 1993 teaming with Big Van Vader and facing sting at Halloween Havoc however an Infamous Hotel fight with Aron Anderson in England which resulted in both men being stabbed with scissors led to Sid's release this incident prevented Sid from winning the WCW championship at starcade 1993 a title he was originally slated to capture after a brief stint in uswa where he feuded with Jerry Lawler Sid returned to WF in 1995 during a time when the company was losing big names to WCW this second run with WWF proved to be Sid's most successful Sid Udi better known by his ring names Sid Vicious Sid Justice and psycho Sid is a retired professional wrestler who left an indelible mark on the industry born on December 16th 1960 in West Memphis Arkansas Sid quickly Rose to prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s he held multiple World Championships including the WWF and WCW world heavy weight titles and was involved in several
