Maple Leafs sign Max Pacioretty to PTO!

what's going on guys Andrew pilik hockey here back again with another video today I'm going to be talking about Max Patch ready and the PTO that the Maple Leafs have handed out to him before the start of the Season uh I finally got to drag myself out of bed for a few minutes before this pain medication for my back knocks me out for the rest of the day so if you guys are new here make sure to like this video And subscribe for your boy please I'm on the injured reserve list to start this season uh dragging myself out of bed I can only sit for about 8 minutes so uh this this is all I've got for you guys right now so hopefully you will enjoy this video but like And subscribe for your boy as I go through pain sitting in this chair but uh I want to talk about Max Patch ready for a few minutes so max patre will attend mela's training camp on a uh PTO professional triy out and uh this is something that we were kind of expecting but the follow-up to this was Chris Johnston this morning saying Max Patti will attend Leaf's training camp on a PTO expect him to sign a contract before the season so before even seeing how he performs in training camp and even in preseason games the Maple Leafs are likely to sign him regardless of what happens to to a degree I'm sure but it seems as though the map Leafs are pretty set on patch ready becoming a leaf and that they want to add him to their depth and we'll be looking at every angle of this in as fast as possible uh because there's a lot to look at here uh but it seems as though the Leafs are pretty confident that Max petetti is going to be healthy and be able to play for them this season and that it's not going to be a bad option for them uh because there there's a lot to talk about and uh this is this is the first thing I wanted to just bring up was kind of the press release to show a couple important notes and we'll look into his points in a second here but the map Leaf signed Max patre as we said but he's 35 years old that's that's a big thing here as well he appeared in 47 games with the capitals last season recording four goals and 23 points he added an assist in four playoffs game playoff games before the capitals were swept in the first round by the Rangers now the uh the 6'2 Winger returned to NHL action this season after tearing his right Achilles tendon for the second time and again the second time in January 2023 while being a member of the hurricanes and he's coming off a oneyear $2 million deal so there's a few things that we have to touch on there first of all the the Achilles tendon now being a hockey player and tearing your Achilles twice is pretty dangerous this is a pretty serious injury as many people know like all you have to do is look at all of sports like remember when Kobe Bryant rest in peace God Rest his soul Tores Achilles as well he walked off the court on his own power but he himself said it was like excruciating pain and for for Max pater ready it's taken him out for Seasons at a time and in and in baseball and basketball the kill's Tenon will take you out for an entire season uh depending on how like serious and you know how much how many times you've done it and with patch ready doing it more than once that's something that should be a little bit concerning to people and I'm and again I like Max Max petetti I've I've watched him his entire career I've been a fan of the guy I think that he does a lot of good for a lot of teams and he has for a long time when he's healthy and that's the key word when he's healthy and if the map Leafs feel like he can produce for them and he can be a guy that can you know impact their their forward lines and their depth that's great but again the the other thing that scares me a little bit here is the $2 million deal I hope that the map Leafs extending a PTO and the fact that and again this is no dis to to patch ready but the fact that teams seemingly weren't interested enough to sign patch ready straight out of free agency that this number is likely going to be around a million or less or potentially just over I don't want the MS overspending uh and have to move on from players just in order to fit Max Patch ready into their lineup now again I do want to take a look at his numbers you can see in his career he's been a very effective Point producer and goal scorer uh he's a plus in his career but again we don't take a look at those numbers as much uh but if you look at his career in Montreal this guy guy was an elite goal scorer like he put up huge numbers but if we're taking a look at even the co seasons and his time with Vegas he still was very productive and you know look at look at the last time he was actually very productive and and I would and I would look to the 2020 2021 season and the 2021 2022 Seasons where he had 51 points in 48 games including 24 goals uh and then he had 37 points in 39 games with 19 goals he he spreads out his numbers pretty well but you can see over his career he's he's been a pretty Elite goal scorer uh and even with Carolina you know three goals in five games this guy when he's healthy he can put a puck in the back of the net and he did it in 13 minutes of ice time but you can see over his career he's always been you know pushing the 19-minute Mark he's always been over 17 minutes and uh with Washington he only played about average about 14 to 15 minutes uh with them and he only got into 47 game so the health came in there as well but 23 points he still was effective but not enough to probably earned that $2 million because he didn't play a lot of games and again in the playoffs he only had the one point but this is a tale of which Max Patch ready are you going to get because if Max Patch Ready's healthy and he plays over 60 games you're likely getting good production out of him and I'm not talking like oh he's going to return to his point per game and almost Point per game stat stat I'm saying he's going to chip in 10 to 15 goals maybe even maybe even pot 20 and give you decent minutes but when I look at the map Leafs lineup and especially after they just added Nick Robertson back to this team there's likely trades coming and I know a lot of people have been excuse me mentioning uh Cali Yar crook but I don't think the map Leafs are going to be moving on from him I I just don't see where it would make sense he's perfect defensive depth uh in the in their bottom six and I you know a lot of people are mentioning David Camp which I can see because he's making I believe $2.4 million this season uh Connor derer could be another guy that gets maybe sent down uh and then pontis Holberg is another name potentially getting sent down or moved uh I would rather see him push for a fourth line Center spot but this lineup here and I know people are saying Ryan Reeves but I think baru will want him in the lineup this this lineup is intriguing because like I said where does Nick Robertson fit in where does a potential Max Patch ready deal fit in and where does a potential Easton Cowen or a Steven lorence who's also on a PTO where do all these guys fit into the lineup the question or the answer is they don't so what what's going to happen here what are the map Leafs going to be doing to start the season in order to get this team cap compliant and for it to make sense so um I'm starting to hurt sitting here so I need to get out of this chair and go back to bed so if you guys are new here make sure to like this video And subscribe join the squad thank you guys so much for the support on the last video I know I had mentioned the injury uh to my back uh in a previous video and a lot of people were telling me just you know get better um and I'm trying my best it's been mentally and physically draining uh over the last week or so uh and it suck to not be able to make a lot of content for you guys uh and I'm trying my best but like I said I literally I I just can't so um hopefully you guys understand and uh yeah Max Patch ready sound off in the comments I'll see you guys in the next video or stream peace
