all right guys so in this video I'm going to be going through some MLB teams currently going through some attendance problems what is the future hold what is the 2024 Outlook and could any of these teams be in danger of relocation if their attendance does not kick up you can see this is the 2023 MLB attendance now attendance across the league was very very good you can see San Francisco who would have thought the Giants outside of the top 15 in terms of attendance and even they had 30,000 it's just attendance was so up across the league in part due to the pitch clock in part due to unseasonably really good weather we had last year but let's take a look obviously the number one team when it comes to attendance issues it's going to be the Oakland Athletics they are right now the only lame duck franchise they're expected to move to Las Vegas in 2028 and will likely be homeless as early as 2025 this could be the last year at the Coliseum we would would expect an average attendance probably around 7,000 I would say they were the only MLB team to draw under 1 million people this past year and the fan base has a horrible relationship with the ownership obviously it's going to get very bad in Oakland they're also theoretically could be the idea to we they're a lame duck team for three years after this year if they do sign a lease extension in stay at the Coliseum from 2025 through 2027 they are completely uncompetitive they are not trying to be competitive they will lose 110 games again and it is just a horrible horrible situation for baseball I would imagine something is going to be done to remedy this issue in terms of 2025 whether it's moving into a minor league ballpark in Sacramento or Nevada you've got to move into a smaller Stadium the Coliseum is just a complete decrepit mess and it has a ridiculously high attendance and there are always a bunch of empty seats so that is the number one attendance issue for MLB and it will be fixed fixed when the move finally happens but it's just going to be an issue over the next four years on where the A's actually will be playing the next team that always famously has attendance PRS it is the Miami Marlins playing at a relatively new Lone Depot Park now I don't know where to begin with the Marlins I mean they started closing the entire upper deck of Lone Depot Park five years into its existence this Stadium opened in 2012 and at this point if this was not a new stadium the Miami Marlins would be on the verge of relocating they would be the next team everyone would be talking about it would be them the Athletics and the Rays their attendance is always terrible they're always bottom three part of that is just the area a lack of demand for baseball the fact that it's Florida another part of that is the fact that they originally built this Stadium really deep they have since moved the fenses in slightly but the Miami Marlins have really never had a good offense ever inside this ballpark John Carlos ston had that one Elite year but even then they were kind of just an average offensive team they play a very boring brand of baseball and I would expect them to finish in the bottom 10 in all offensive categories again this year and when it comes to their attendance I'm expecting bottom five but there's going to be no relocation rumors simply because lone Depot Park is too new it would be seen as a complete waste if the Marlins left it within the next 5 to 10 years so they will be staying there and maybe if the Marlins get really good they could have one year where they crack the top 20 in terms of attendance but their Stadium isn't even big enough to you know bring them inside the top five it only seats around 37 people and obviously it normally never gets filled moving on to the next team with attendance issues obviously it is the Tampa Bay Rays they're the only team to play in a fully domed Stadium now the Rays situation is to be honest really not going to be solved because the plan is to build a new dome stadium right next to their current one and they're saying the way that it gets solved is by putting up a huge development it's around a$6 billion project with residential areas restaurants a$ 1.3 billion Stadium it is a total ballpark District however that is quite the risk you are taking considering what we just saw with this team's attendance last year quite possibly one of the most embarrassing things I've seen the Rays drawing 20,000 people for playoff games back to back one of the games it was under 20K it was legitimately 19,000 like 500 people for a playoff game even after they removed all the tarps and you can see all the empty seats in a playoff game that's really embarrassing there's just a lack of demand for baseball in the State of Florida I do not think even though they have something in place they will be building this Stadium I think this team will be moving there is just not enough demand for baseball in this area and I know they're trying to to say well if we build up the surrounding area in St Petersburg that's going to make it a lot better that's a big risk you're going to have to take for the next 20 or 30 years we just saw with the Marlins try and do that build a stadium you know in Florida it's not working out it'll be interesting to follow their situation but I would expect them yet again another team that closes the upper deck to games they're going to be struggling with attendance in 2024 it really doesn't matter how good they are there is a team that started 13-0 last year was in first place throughout the entire of the season and still finished bottom five in terms of overall attendance moving on to the next team with attendance problems this is an interesting one it is the Arizona Diamondbacks So In fairness to the Diamondbacks I will say it is a bad look to finish 20th in attendance when you made the World Series but they did have kind of a Cinderella run everyone knew they were never going to win their division it was looking for a little while like they weren't going to make the playoffs so I I can understand last year maybe having a a little bit of a worse attendance but if they're outside of like the top 18 in terms of attendance coming off a World Series appearance that's going to be a bad look considering the dialogue surrounding Chase Field the rumors that they might move to Scottdale it'll be something to follow in the end I think they do improve their attendance in the Phoenix area possibly get inside the top 15 this coming year because they did just win the pennet and they will likely be getting around a $500 million renovation to Chase Field that would be my prediction but it's an intriguing one to watch nonetheless another team with attendance issues it is the Pittsburgh Pirates now the Pirates have had issues for years mainly because of how bad they are also just the fact that Pittsburgh it's not the biggest city but they're not going anywhere PNC Park it's one of the top three best parks in baseball and the big issue for the Pirates is just their ownership the lack of spending and recently they just haven't been competitive at all even in a pretty watered down NL Central I would expect expect them to struggle again with attendance this coming year maybe not nearly as bad as years past as they continue to try and rebuild but in general it's still going to be probably pretty bad moving on to the next team with attendance issues it is the Cleveland Guardians so it got really bad for the Guardians around 2012 2013 this is a team that's actually had to change drastic areas of their Stadium because of horrible attendance problems like the right Field Upper Deck changing it a few different times removing about 10,000 seats total and now the Guardians are in a spot where they struggled last year Terry Frank cona is gone and they did not do a single thing in the off season I believe the only offensive bat that they got was Austin Hedges who is one of the worst offensive hitting players in MLB history I don't even think I'm being dramatic about that I honestly think the guy has a non base percentage of like 220 in his career and they were horrible last year in terms of home runs by far worst in the league the Guardians just play a really really bad brand of baseball it is not sexy at all they do not hit for power and they have had attendance issues for a while but I think it's even going to get worse this coming year possibly finishing in the bottom five in terms of it just based off of their team structure the AL Central is just a horrible division a lot of bad baseball we will see where they end up finishing in terms of attendance the next team with attendance problems it is the Baltimore Orioles so I would put them in a very similar category as the Diamondbacks they are a young team who played really well last year but they also struggled with attendance now we saw when the Orioles were decent they had Adam Jones like back 10 years ago they had some pretty good attended Seasons back in like 2013 2014 we'll see if they can replicate it what they've been doing recently is they have been closing off their entirety of their Left Field Upper Deck and now there are rumors that because there's a Planned renovation to oral Park at Camden Yards in the future they might decide to change up the Left Field Upper Deck similar to what the Rockies and the Guardians did and put some type of bar out there it'll be interesting to see with all of their young stud players coming off the great season that they had last year if they're able to use that Left Field Upper Deck if it doesn't get used a lot I do think they will be renovating their Left Field Upper Deck but they do need to have a better season in terms of attendance especially with a young really good team the next team with attendance problems it is the Chicago White Socks so this is pretty meaningless because it's already come out that the white socks are moving on from this area this is just not a good area for an MLB team to be where they currently play at Guaranteed Rate field another reason they've had attendance PRS just they're not very good I I think mainly no matter what happens to the white sock this coming year it's not going to matter they're already moving out of this area into a new ballpark within the next five years and then the Royals are in a very similar spot so the Royals actually did finish in the bottom three in terms of attendance this past year that's mainly because they were just horrible I mean they were legitimately terrible they lost well over a 100 games and they are another team that is completely moving out of this area they're moving to downtown Kansas City with new brand new renderings and caufman stadium is very likely going to be demolished by the year 20129 so that is just some teams that are dealing with some current attendance problems when it comes to relocation obviously the A's are pretty much gone at this point and then the other team that I would say to watch is the Rays the Marlin would be another team but they have two new of a stadium that's going to do it for this video guys make sure you follow me on X link to that's always in the description
