Welcome back. A new pilot program is now putting Amber alerts on tiktok, it'll put the face of the missing right on your phone. Sydney persing shows us how it works. The biggest struggle I had 50 years ago, Jim Walker's teenage sister, Carla Walker was kidnapped, raped, tortured and strangled to death. I miss not having life with her doing life with her. Back then in 1974 solving crime was more complicated. Technology wasn't advanced and Carla's case went cold. Of course, DNA and internet was, was, was was science fiction, but they're not anymore. And in another new effort to use technology to keep kids alive. Tiktok users in Texas will now see amber alerts directly in app because they're going to help us get in front of that right audience. John Bishop is with the National Center for missing and exploited Children, which helped develop this new pilot program effective immediately in Texas. He told me if there's an amber alert near you, you'll see a card like this in your tiktok for you page as you're scrolling through videos. Tiktok's Lily Wynn said, unlike the traditional alert on your home screen, the card will include photos of the missing child suspect and car if available, knowing that people may be on the app if they're waiting, you know, at the doctors or they're waiting at the airport. I'm thankful that we've got the technology. Now, Jim said he's not a Tik Tok guy himself but is a big fan of this new program because he knows how modern day technology can crack a case. 45 years after his sister was taken new advanced forensics, finally convicted Carla's killer. I'm glad to say because technology had advanced, everything came together. Jim believes using the tools we have now that he didn't 50 years ago just might bring a child home before it's too late. I believe we'll save lives in Dallas. I'm Sydney Persing.
