up here we go Western Michigan in Ohio State in addition to this game we're also going to be talking about Boise State Oregon Texas Michigan and Nebraska Colorado we'll also have our upset sec pick for the uh for the weekend as well that we'll give you Chris and I have the same one we have the same one if it's different it's different it is what it is but let's talk some Ohio State Michigan right now Chris obviously Ohio State favored by 38 in this game this is not going to be a contest at least it should not be a contest if this is a contest Ryan Day seat just got hotter than what you know a lot of people have been saying it is however this should not be a contest contest Western Michigan did give Wisconsin a little bit of a game but mostly if you're Ohio State here you're just watching that offensive line you're kind of watching that defense a little bit underrated player for me that I'm going to be watching in this game is Caleb DS he had three missed tackles last game when I went and did that rewatch like he was playing free safety so it's different for him but I don't know what are your thoughts Chris is there anybody you're going to be watching specifically that you want to see play well for Ohio State um this is a slight step up for mackan but this should be a game that obviously is no danger um what I what I will say is the thing that I'm really intrigued about is this defensive line rotation I want to see how they continue to use it to see if we still get more of the rushman package stuff um I would like to see a guy like Kaden Curry may maybe play a little bit more in the first quarter it felt like whenever he got in the game he wreaked some Havoc I know kinata Jackson be getting a lot of flowers but I'm really intrigued and what a guy like Kaden Curry does really for this game instead of specific players I mean I know I mentioned Kaden I'll be paying a close attention on rotations right I want to see like like how many guys we get in early um Lorenzo Styles played really early against akan are we gonna see that again um I mean we we saw arvel ree pretty early and Ryan you know he got 38 snaps Ryan Day said we need to play him even more I want to see kind of what his role is but really that's that's what I'll be keeping an eye out on I don't expect Donovan Jackson to be a go this week maybe I'm wrong but honestly I'd be okay if we didn't see him because he is nursing that hamstring until Michigan State um but for me for me at least it'll just rotation and the big one is defensive line rotation because I think late in the year those guys being burned out kind of allowed teams to go on Long sustaining drivve and by teams I mean Michigan so that'll be the number one thing I'll be keeping an eye out for this week yeah for sure I think you have to see those rotations you have to see them uh have that rushman package as well you definitely want to get this uh Western Michigan offense in third and long situations because if you're not going to get Western Michigan in third and long situations guess what you're going to get the big boys in third and long situations very often so it's going to be imperative for Ohio State but uh that offensive line has been kind of the Talk of the Town but on you guys' show you seem to have a little bit of a different perspective you still are critical of the offensive line but maybe not to the aspect of what some Ohio State fans are you're kind of looking at the tight ends a little bit too can you just talk through your thoughts on the offensive line is it as big of a concern as Ohio State fans are making it or are you like listen guys move on there's some other stuff to look at here other than that so I it's funny I'm I'm in year um seven or eight I believe of covering Sports and for football at least I've always found that the first couple weeks of the year you always see the worst offensive line performances across the country always been that way um even teams with experienc offensive lines look tough to start the year because that's such a jelling position um I think Oregon has a pretty decent offensive line I think probably a top eight defensive line they struggle with Idaho last year we saw Ohio State I know that they had their struggles against Michigan but nobody else blocked Michigan's front four better than Ohio State in week one they couldn't block Indiana um did they have at moments struggled against akan yeah a lot of that I think was Austin's fault um and I think Austin's gonna grow and be a better player at some point but early season offensive line play I more look okay are you when things click do things click when when things click are you moving guys off the ball the answer was yes um the tight end blocking was pretty bad and and some running plays got blown up with that I think the offensive line probably played at a at a at a B level um no sacks allowed which which and and no tackles for loss allowed so if you give me that I'll take it but I think early season offensive line play is always going to be clunky um and then you'll see guys gel but hopefully by week four so I'm not super concerned about offensive line yet yet I reserve the right to be worried about offensive line because if we get to Michigan State and they're blocking the same as they blocked against zachan I'll be the first one hey Justin fry it's not good enough um especially because I've been the guy on the front line saying that he can develop so um I will get off that boat if if by week four by that Michigan State week by that Iowa week um they they haven't progressed at all yeah and it's important to know like you said Austin he is starting in place of Donovan Jackson at least he did against akaran we'll see if that same thing happens here and then they also had the right guard position uh they had that rotating as well you saw Carson Hinman in there for a couple drives you saw Tegra in there to to to begin Tegra chabola uh so it's going to be interesting to see but at the end of the day I kind of like them putting them in this situation where it's like look if you're a young guy you need to get in there and you got to play I was very impressed with Seth mcclaflin I felt like he was a good offensive lineman and I felt like the snaps were good I I mean there was maybe one low snap I think that I can remember but other than that there really wasn't you know issues with snapping or anything like that uh if you notice Alabama had a number of issues yes they did yes they did High snaps again yeah they went from low to high I think that kind of proves the thought process Ryan day was talking about that it could have been a Cadence thing with jayen milro because it just seemed to be uh not that not that bad for uh for them so yeah I talked to a couple players on the team too they said when when he first got there um one of the things he was doing was snapping the ball really really hard and I think kind of having him know that look you can ease up on the snap speed because we would rather you have a slower snap that hits our guy right in the hands rather than a rocket snap that's liable to go wild um so I don't know exactly what the philosophy is over there b but it does feel like this new center whether it's a Cadence issue whether it's a pacing issue um it feels like the the Alabama Center thing isn't a Seth McGloin problem at some point you look it's okay if this is happening with this player this player this player and this coach and this philosophy is a common denominator or this place is the common denominator at what point do you look around and be like oh like know that that teaching is wrong not the kid is wrong so um I'm not too worried about Seth I thought Seth looked really good too in Run play especially um being strong getting downhill I mean he looks like a guy that could be an NFL guard so I was really pleased with him week one I was as well I was as well all right let's get to some uh score predictions you gonna do score predictions Chris or is it just me I'll do SC what do you mean yeah well I know you got a show tomorrow I didn't know if you were saving them till then or anything so all right my score prediction for Ohio State Western Michigan I think it's going to be a little bit less I'm going to go with 42 I don't think they get a field goal in this G I think that ran day really goes for it and says uhuh we're not doing the field goal thing uh have a seat what's his name Fielding Jaden Fielding go have a seat dude uh we're going to score in the Red Zone every time we get there so I'm going to say 42- three in this one maybe one defensive touchdown but I'm not banking on two listen we had two last time you won a bet with two so congratulations to you I turned I turned $25 into 700 with the two defensive touchdown bet isn't that ridiculous that's ridiculous ridic so if you have any bets for us make sure you share them with us something we I haven't cooked anything up yet but that one got so lucky so so Jr it was two defensive touchdowns and over 51 and a half points the gab power touchdown put them at 51 and then the field goal put him at 52 that's how I cleared the BET um but for for this game I've got 49 to 10 I think Ohio State uh gets the job done I don't think they get a defensive touchdown today but I do think um they they allow a touchdown maybe late with some of the backups in there yeah that makes sense that makes sense all right good stuff
