I Stay On The QE2 - NOT What I Expected!

growing up my parents used to watch a TV show called wish you were here and I always remember them talking about oh wouldn't it be lovely to go on the qb2 and when I was growing up it was the height of luxury it was the ship that everybody wanted to go on if you had the money so it was bought here in 2008 it has been completely refurbished although I say it's been completely refurbished there is some original parts still that we'll go and check out and I thought if I'm going to stay on the QE2 I might as well stay in the Royal site so I booked the Royal Suite which is just right at the front of the ship let's go and check it out cuz I'm absolutely sweating it's 60% humidity in the B at the minute I'm surprised the camera's not steep up I've got to touch the bow lines if I can I reach them don't think I can no perfect time to go and check out my room because it's Sunset and we also have an amazing view of that sunset on the three different balconies that I have it's a huge Ship by the way these werey propellers that H the QE2 around the world they are huge my entrance is just up here got to get on the lift get me in some AC ooo so warm now first of all when you step in here it's like stepping back in time wow look at this is this like a little Lounge it's really great on the walls all the places that she's visited through the wars New York and Sydney now the ship can get a little bit confusing good job there's Maps everywhere and it's really confusing how to get to my room because one lift will only go to a certain floor so I am on the right level to take the lift right to the top and to my room they do have a pool here a Sund deck a restaurant we'll go and check all that out as well but first we'll check out the room now obviously this looks a little bit dated doesn't it brand new carpet but they've kind of left a lot of the original stuff look at that very 80s lights love the old photos so do tell me if this is haunted by the way I'd rather know after I stay here so we're going right up to the signal deck and my room is 80 two all the way level to the top up the front door ising the front door is opening the lights do come on so the Royal Suite has kind of been split into two so you got two rooms now on the right and the left I know I'm not very good with boat talk starboard yeah now the first thing I notice about the ship uh is the air conditioning there's a a bit of a damp kind of smell in the air everywhere welcome to the raw Suite where I've got two different levels the bedroom's in there the bathroom's around the cor the bathroom is totally amazing and I've got one two different balconies we'll check those out in a minute but first let me show you downstairs so coming down here I've got a nice little welcome board with some macaroons and some chocolate with a qy2 logo on it very nice I feel like there needs to be a slightly bigger table here cuz it's quite small for the room that's better now I don't know what all this is because I tried to open it earlier and couldn't I think it's does it open oh it does oo a hidden space wow that's hot in there blimy it's like steam's coming out also it does uh oh no I can't shut it properly now how do you shut it oh no I better close it up because weird it feels like a heater under there but no that's just from outside the heat from under there it's woo hot check out the woodwork though this is just absolutely beautiful I love the lighting all the way around the room and to control the curtains and the lights I just wave this this comes on so I've got Master ceiling light ceiling light two and the bar area which I can control and this controls the curtains opening them up letting the light in or the sunet well actually I think I do this look at the original window wow I thought Millions had been spent on this for the refurbishment but obviously they left some things out to keep the original windows in maybe but yeah it's very nice and this is where I guess back in the day you'd have all your alcohol no alcohol obviously in here but there is a fridge nothing in the fridge oh look I bet if you take these These are chargeable that is actually a huge huge mug can do the very British thing and have a cup of tea I've got a Tassimo some water tiny Kettle ever couple of glasses there let's walk up here this is a really nice space up here and at the end we've got a nice big TV I love all this wood though this is really nice and the carpit obviously just empty drawers I mean really if you come and stay here for one night would you really use all these drawers of course not notepad love the little touches Queen Elizabeth 2 still making history look at that leather and a good old HP British pencil for once I'm very happy with the phones in a hotel room that looks like a brand new phone system funky light as well look at all the the the brass going around Ott on the tissue boxes there's two there I know the windows look a little bit rough around the edges but it kind of makes you realize that you're on a ship that has had had so much history I mean think about the famous people that must have stayed in this room after the raw family I mean I'd love to know if you do know just put it in the comments so the balcony opens up into an air conditioned little room with two nice couches it's quite nice to have done this it's almost like it's a uh a little Conservatory before you go out onto the main deck let me just shut this door oh that's so nice even the lights got a sweat on now earlier there was a tour going on and they were standing just over there but I kind of like waved to them I didn't expect them to be there when they used to come into the port obviously they would stand on that side and position it in look at this wow that Sunset Over The Bu do that look beautiful you would have thought they have touched this paint up a little bit because uh it's looking a little bit worse for wear the seats out here quite grubby nice little light and over the other side oh no hang on right let's head back in before you melt okay let's head into the bedroom room and we have another balcony here oh it's like an iPod that is so sensitive to touch the bed though very Art Deco absolutely love it with a nice otoman at the bottom a TV that should appear out of nowhere so many remotes is this one there's this one and there's this one so I guess it'd be this one let's find out I never normally have much luck with these I can hear something going on the last time I stayed in a hotel with one of these this clicker thing the TV got stuck which happens quite a lot with these it's not working I'm going to have to see if I can get someone up to sort that out but we can open the blinds we check out the door and then the windows oh dear man one step doesn't feel overly that Royal this uh this balcony it looks a little bit battered don't think I'd want to spend any time out here there's nothing soft on the sun beds either it's just uh it's a little bit groty out here I think I'll probably give this area a Miss apart from just checking out the sunet door is well battered look at that let's check out the bed now I did ask them to put a mattress encasement on here and I have checked and they have done just that let's give it a test nice and firm wow I wonder what this would have been like when you was at Sea to open up those windows and just see the sea or New York coming into the distance or Sydney be amazing wouldn't it do like this chair though oh yes very nice little table on here to maybe have a pins while I look outside these lights are Ultra sensitive as well look and they're touch sensitive you barely have to touch them and then again the controls for the lights once again you've got a nightlight which illuminates the lights just under the bed so you can make your way to the bathroom in the middle of the night but like we can put the lights on calming if we want um energized I do love the lights though around the ceiling and the lights all the way around here no qy2 slippers though that's a bit of a shame let just appreciate the wood though how polished varnished it is so smooth it's really nice so let's check out the bathroom cuz when I walked in here I actually did say wow I love that they've still kept the old fashion style to it but given that modern touch as you come in more this beautiful wood two big vanity mirrors two sinks with Queen Elizabeth 2 branding on point and everything you could possibly need including a loofer like this light on the top but this is special because it's a bath and a shower I didn't expect to see the bath in here but the shower it's massive two showers it's a wet room obviously and then there's a a bath in here so it's probably difficult to judge how many people I can actually get in here because the bath is in the way but I would say you could get quite comfortably around about eight people standing in here and if you want to know where the toilet is that's just here I'm surpr I'm surprised they just didn't leave I'm surprised they put a door on it though they could have put the shower in here there you go there's the toilet and there's more towels under there and then the final room which is a dressing room just excuse my bags that I've got in here dressing tables people to do their makeup and how much wardrobe space have we got we' got loads look look at that the lights come on we've got the Posh hangers going on pretty big deep wardrobes so we got the TV working facilities there's a gym there's a pool there's a theater now there's a um there's an awards ceremony going on tonight so I don't know if I'm going to be able to head in there there's a salon dining wise we've got the Lio which is international cuisine so I guess we could maybe eat in there the Pavilion where we can maybe start and have a drink Golden Lion which is a British pub and the Queen's Grill one of the most famous restaurants at sea but the TV doesn't seem to work I can change the channel but nothing comes up oh well I know I'm not here to watch TV so it's a mixture of the room really old and new some of it still a little bit old and Tatty the rest of it a bit new and a bit retro I still like it um I don't really know this ship that well so we'll probably get lost together we'll explore the ship in a bit more detail like the pool deck uh I've got breakfast included I don't have dinner included in the price so we'll go down and we'll see where we can get some food and explore some of the ship come on it's kind of spooky how the lights just come on as you walk otherwise it's a very dark Corridor it's going to sound weird but it does actually smell like an old cruise ship if if you know what I mean what's in here wow this is so what is it ' 80s '90s look at the lift is this lift being used I don't think so let's go down to the boat deck where we've got the grill restaurant The Grill Lounge and the shopping AR but the Sund deck Club is here actually let's go to that first that's on this that's on this is it down here then oh my I've just realized the carpet resembles The Shining badly doesn't it [Music] I do feel like I'm stuck in a Time War though like 80s '90s I idea won't go in now hang on oh what's this is this the sun deck look at the seats look at all the books okay I don't know why but I do get shining Vibes I am here so I guess this would have been for VIPs it's like old hotels I just absolutely love exploring them and because I don't think it's at full occupancy at the moment it does seem quite quiet I'm sure we'll meet a few people soon but as yet I haven't seen anybody well I've seen two people I think oh I'm just on the other side and there's another Sund deck on here which mirrors the other side this one though has a uh a model of the Arcadia we've got some photos of her magesty what are they what's down here wow look at this see it's not open there's the Queen by the aisle of white obviously there's a lot of photos of the Queen the humidity outside look at the condensation on the Windows that's on the outside look at this from when she launched in 1967 look at that and you can see her through the years that's pretty clever Captain's bedroom look how old the doors are alert where would the captain's bedroom been in here wow this ship really is timeless the boardroom I tell you what not all the air conditioning is working cuz it's pretty warm in this part [Music] yikes there's no shops and [Music] uh ceiling doesn't look very good I think there's something going on in there not quite sure wow the smell of the old wood I can smell in here what's going on so the there's nothing there's a whole shopping arcade up here look at it but the shops are empty why is what's going on someone have tell me in the comments gold shop must be open right wow look at the carpet there's a lonely old chair why do I feel like I'm in a worst rated hotel this is so odd qy2 souvenirs yeah no hello why are all these shops open with lights on and then there just it's like something has happened like an apocalypse or [Music] something should weay for the cards I don't know look there's more shops here just completely and utterly empty look even the lights are all flickering that's actually the lights flickering not the camera by the way this is just so very odd is this getting done up I don't know I'm going to ask actually but look wires just hanging down oh there's the stage in the ballroom looks like riveting entertainment theater balcony the door is just left open wow look at this it's like the hotel is partly open but partly closed this way I'm not going to get any dinner no way there's a casino there's a casino gambling is illegal in Dubai right so you can just come in here and just look at the old machines all the American ones as well are they open normally do tell me in the comments I'm so confused to this ship at the minute what's going on is a grand piano there a special relationship loads of History here about the ship oh there's the PB good old British pub wow this is so nice just go to the bar get a drink it's just like being in a British pub back home but this was at sea I can't let this ship out it's kind of derel but part of it has been refurbished some of it looks open some of it looks closed but this is the kind of um hotel that I love you know the history um just walking around seeing the old lift panels some of the old signage I know it sounds weird but you can smell the old wood you can smell history cuz I saw a document I didn't really see a documentary on TV about it but I kind of did but it looked all really Posh so I'm a bit confused so I've just been told that the restaurant is closed because of an event uh the grill is only open for afternoon tea so it's the Lio that's the only place that is open which is on this level apparently wow look at [Music] that that is incredible what a model the Queen's room is that what this is oh wow can't get in there now that does look elegant and so does that it doesn't really fit in with the rest of the ship does it the chart room it's just a spooky music and that there's nothing or anybody here have you seen the movie go ship that's all I'm going to say right now cuz this place is just I'm just so confused oh there's something there some life down there some people I'll go and check in the moment because I've just seen this huge portrait wow look at that just quickly go deu didn't see this advertised what's this [Music] hello what's this area please office office oh wow what lovely space again I guess this is just for events nothing being used at the minute though seriously am I the only person staying on this ship where is everyone maybe they're in the Lio how we go I don't think this is the entrance though com in the rear entrance I think oh we've got some food finally I was a little bit worried and there's people and there's real stuff going on so how it's like a buffet it's pretty basic food though so just looking at some of the food doesn't over look that great this is £33 have as much as you want um I mean look at that fish don't think I want to go near that I might just go for some croats some chicken popcorn and maybe some of the desserts just been given a glass of white wine look how small the wine glass is it's so tiny I've had some bad experiences with um food served on hot plates so I gave it a miss and a lot of it did not look very appetizing so yeah for £33 some potato Croquettes some poppadoms chicken popcorn and some chicken sters skewers skewers well dessert looks better there was some fresh cheros so I put some sauce on them black forest gateau there some Turkish delight and a little minia CLA so the Lio is closed at a minute which is a bit of a shame cuz you could have a shish and a drink they said the reason why it's closed is because it's too hot we're in Dubai and they actually said they've closed it because it is too hot can we get these stairs there's a lot of people in the restaurant such a shame nothing is uh is open no lights are on Wow the humidity tonight is crazy Another Empty room come down to the bottom of the ship now so these are i' still love these paintings I'd love to know the history behind them these are the cheaper rooms that you can get here on the Queen Mary and you can still see it's very Timeless check out the oldfashioned lighting at least there's brand new carpet what the heck I keep discovering new rooms Queen Elizabeth's second Silver Jubilee Throne wow how Grand the ship used to be eh I'd love to have known what all these rooms were back in the day what they were used for feels very different down here here this ship just gets odder and odder I'm almost in the bows of the ship this just says reception I don't know what's going on here what I don't get why all the rooms are just open for people to to walk around and are these meeting rooms I'm guessing is that me or is it really Smokey looks like it's smoky in here there toilets ooh ooh get out of there Arabian SE meeting room got weird vibe in there these these are our these must just be meeting rooms I think what is going on with this really oh it's the conference center it's just the fact that all the doors are just open and there's bits pulled apart and everything and just this is so OD whoa look how long that Corridor is again we've got a a door that's open to what looks like a reception nobody here I don't think there's been anyone here for a while because someone has just written their name in dust so all right walk with me here you can see that hasn't been used for a while look look at the dust on it what is going on if the camera's steaming up because the humidity is ridiculously high at the minute all right back at the room it took me probably around about half an hour to get back here cuz I got completely lost I just don't get this ship this level at the top is really nice I mean yes there's a few ugly bits but the room is you know amazing but the rest of the ship nothing's open I wish they' have told me this when I have booked in that none of the restaurants were open apart from the buffet restaurant and and the pub that was it there wasn't any Spa I'll show you the spa tomorrow it's just shocking so uh yeah I'm going to try and get some sleep and uh I'll see you for breakfast in the morning morning cup of tea to start the day as always thankfully we've lost the humidity it's not as bad as it was last night I mean obviously you got to remember all the water around here heats up throughout the day so at night it just evaporates hence why Dubai gets so much humidity and uh yeah it was just oh it was horrible last night the humidity literally you didn't want to be outside at all so it's better now that the sun's up dried things out a little bit so let's go and check out breakfast so before breakfast we actually while I try and find where I go and get breakfast I think it's the same place I had dinner last night I thought I'd have walk around the ship definitely a problem with the pigeons there's bird mck everywhere there's crows too what's this whatever it is it's um it was something and there just been left I thought that was the pool up there is it not you can't go up there but it's just uh I've looked through the gaps and it's just a whole load of mess maybe that was where the pool was I not sure have to ask someone well breakfast seems a little bit Spar it's well spread out uh there is a fried egg section over there but I've just gone for um some french toast a cappuccino and a panda Chocolat there's nothing else with took my fancy so I thought I would show you the onboard Spa now this is still advertised oo treatment room I guess that's where you would have had a massage maybe another massage in here oo and that's the spa I think it's been closed since Co but just been sadly left but let's see what the swimming pool is like but the salon is open and actually is quite is he oh wow here it is there's a gym all right let's see if we can go up to the bridge the gate is open so I guess we can I mean there's a lot of people on the ship but there's obviously nobody walking around it's just obviously too hot wonder if this will be open so this is what they would have used to kind of anchor the ship into port with the battle thrusters I bet this will probably locked cuz you can normally do tours to go in here they are free but I'm not going to have time to do him no can't head in there some my experience on the QE2 I actually packed a suit because I thought it was going to be really elegant to go to dinner in a bow tie on board but obviously in that nice Grill Restaurant it was booked out for a private function which would have been nice actually for the staff to tell me when I checked in there was also another restaurant that wasn't open so it was just the buffet restaurant and the pub where I could have had some bar food I love walking around hotels so walking around a cruise ship like this is totally amazing the smell of the old wood you can see a lot of the original woodwor and windows of the ship as well even though it has had a full restoration but since covid it's fallen on hard times as we saw walking around the areas in the shop the spa and it's just really random that they've left all these areas just open and just health and safety is probably not a thing so how much did it cost me to stay up there in the Royal Suite it cost me me this much in pounds to spend one night in the best room on the QE2 is it worth the money you do get breakfast included in that I'd love to know your thoughts if you stayed on here maybe you actually went on the
