to you know a Eastern Standard Time and just excited I missed all the games last night which I'm really upset about because it looked like there were some really good ones but just happen to be back in body acclimating back uh and being you know back to normal for the most part as much as we can be at this point I think you you're TJ you're a little younger than me so you kind of got uh adjusted a little quicker than I did but I think today was the day I needed to get that two hour nap after work um and then obviously texting you getting the timeline ready for today and really excited to talk about you know BC coming up on Monday night I think it's going to be a you know I I don't think I'm overstating things extreme important game for Florida State yeah um yeah got a lot of thoughts got a lot of thoughts after the way last week went we've talked about Georgia Tech enough at this point that um man every time I look at this okay I I just need to get to I'm not trying to wish the season away or anything but like I need to get to St Patrick's Day because like every time I look at this hat Richie it like it sends like a shiver up and down my spine so as soon as we get to like the first St Patrick's Day I'll be good like I be like oh well that's my St Patrick's Day hat that's not an Ireland hat that's a St Patty's Day hat and I'll feel great but until we get there I just need to hide show this week and I was asked what the mood is or what the mindset going into Boston College is for Florida State and I if if I put one on it um it is it's got to be desperation right and and not so much in the way of like oh you're you're fighting for your life if you're Mike norell or like he's built up enough Goodwill to this year you know nothing's happening or anything like I'm not implying that but their season is over Richie if they lose this game like there is I yes could in theory could they still win out make the ACCC Championship with enough chaos yes I understand that it's not happening you lose to BC you're probably not beating SMU you're probably not beating Miami you're probably not beating Clemson to be honest you're probably not beating Notre Dame or or Florida I know those are out of conference they don't really matter for um for getting into the playoff uh you know as an ACC champ but yeah you could lose to BC and then run the table and potentially finish you know what that' be uh 11 and two as an ACC Champion if enough stuff went your way I I don't think enough stuff could go your way I and I really don't think that you could find a way to beat other teams if you're losing to BC and so I think think Florida state is significantly better we'll break this game down in a minute but to me it's got to be desperation like because again they're not a desperate team but if they want their season continue they have to find a way to win this or and I find a way is not maybe the right word to you know way to put that but they have to come out and win they have to play well play like they're the better team play like they're a three-score favorite and come out and win because if not I think it's over like I you know we're we're we're one week in to cut the football season and your week your season is over right that wasn't even the case back in uh you know the BCS era you could at least fight back if you won your next 12 but yeah so desperation gota got to be the mindset right yeah you know outside of last year TJ I think 2014 was probably the last year I guess you could say argue 2015 when your season was not over in September you know you know obviously 2015 you had that Georgia Tech loss right before on the kick six right before the Clemson game um but every year outside of last year your season's basically been over in September and luckily with the 12 team playoff you have a little more grace now and that's a good thing for us but there's no way you can start 0 and2 uh with both games being ACC games and convince me that there's any chance of us making the playoff this is a must-win game luckily if you're going to play another ACC team on the schedule this is the one that I would want um you know we'll talk about that with the ACC media days here shortly um in kind of where Boston College was projected but this is absolutely a must-win game and it's not a must-win for Mike norell and his tenure at Florida State because he he's done enough he has enough Goodwill built up he he's gonna be around for a while um there's a reason Alabama wanted to hire him but at the same time for the 2024 season you lose this game this season is a lost cause um and what worries me the most about potentially losing this game you think about guys like dju and in other transfers and guys that you know it's their last year like a like a a Jackson and a farmer and a Payton like do they start to check out I don't think they would I think Mike norell has enough command of this team that he's going to keep them but it's a fair question to ask to say hey do these guys just check out and say hey I got the NFL draft coming up I'm not going to go out and bust my tail and you know as the saying goes do these guys start makings business decisions Beat Boston College you know get into the buy and you know start stacking together some W's and I think you're right back on track but you have to win this game there is no doubt about that yeah not to move too much past this game but you're right like if you just come out and take care of business the next few weeks um you get Boston College and then you get the buy that you talked about then you get Memphis who I think is a good team I think they're a very good group of five team there there really would be no excuse to lose to Memphis um you get Cal right they've got a really good running back there would be no excuse to lose to Cal and then you get SMU who will see more of SMU soon but in week zero just didn't look great um probably looked worse than Florida state did just played a much worse opponent almost had a 28 point uh almost as a 28 point favorite lost and so I I don't want to say that it would be forgotten but if you get to four- one because you beat those four teams and so you're 4-1 Clemson's three in one coming into dop um Clemson might be a favorite then they might not they might be two and two because they got to play NC State which NC State didn't look great last night either I know you didn't see it but you know they they might not be amazing either and so you uh you know I if you get to 4- one nobody's going to forget about Georgia Tech but you'll you'll it'll be pretty far in the rearview mirror hey this team's turned it around they've turned it on they've found ways to win they've got four wins they've got it you know they're they're they're almost at the Midway point and honestly what happens in that Clemson game is really going to probably determine the the trajectory of your season from there on out but yeah you you dro this one and yeah I I wouldn't so much worry about the wheels coming off um but you might just be seeing a lot of young guys playing from there on out because it would be about getting ready for next year I will say this like they're is it possible that Florida State loses to Boston College figures things out through the bye-week and then play in those next three bad teams and then goes on a run to win 10 straight games and sneaks in as the 11 or 12 seed like I won't say that's impossible if there's enough good wins on there which I think Miami will be a good win I think Notre Dame will be a good win we'll see what Florida looks like later but if you just lay waste to the rest of the schedule maybe maybe you could do it um but I just I I don't have the confidence that you could actually beat those teams if you can't beat Boston College I guess is the bigger thing right it's it's not about like could you sneak in at 10- two which you know you'd have some good out of conference wins you you'd have some stuff that goes your way but yeah I have no confidence that you could beat other teams if you um lose to Boston College so all right let's talk a little bit about BC uh you wrote this BC's opener I've talked a lot about this this week whether it's on double frer or the national Channel or just wherever I think it is a super super important help to the Florida state to have already played a game now I know that game didn't go the way we wanted but I think it helps Florida States who have played a game be able to put Band-Aids be able to put duct tape be able to put chewing gum or or whatever adhesive you need to shore up some gaps and know where you need to improve uh because of the way you played poorly last game the lessons you got to learn because of that game I think it's a lot like duaine in 2022 um obviously that's a much lesser opponent and so you probably couldn't take as much away from that but I do think that helped Florida State when they went to New Orleans and played LSU and I think having played George Tech will help Florida State against Boston College on Monday night I think much like that 22 LSU game as well you're playing a coach that's in his very first year I'm not sold on this Bill O'Brien hire at all um and so I think there's there's some things outside of the game itself that are pointing in Florida State's Direction and certainly helping us um again outside of just the you know guys hitting each other on first and second and third and fourth down yeah no I think that's a great Point um you know part of the reason if you go back and listen I I think you and I were kind of on the same page when we said the LSU game in 2022 we both liked Florida State to win that game because you had the tuneup game against Dukan again different from what we just saw in Dublin against George Tech but you had a brand new coaching staff in their very first game in the preseason predictions we both predicted Florida state would be LSU if that game were week seven week eight week nine I probably would have picked LSU based on Talent alone and knowing Brian Kelly is a very good coach I don't know how good of a college coach Bill O'Brien really is I think he partially got that job just because of his time with the Patriots and being in Boston and and all of that good stuff but I do think brand new team for the most part they do return 15 starters um including their quarterback but a new coach new DC who spent most of his time in the Canadian football league if I remember correctly um just a weird situation for Boston College Florida State should win this game and it should not be really remotely close um just because of those few factors alone yeah I feel um again I feel really good about that I think that helps now I would have loved to have found a way to win last week and not have to learn those lessons through a loss we've gotten to win games at Florida State and and it be ugly and every team does that right like that's not just us um you at times get to win games that you should have lost and it and it helps you a ton um but unfortunately in this one it didn't Stephen appreciate the love here let's see if I have a let's see if I have a good Super Chat for you here you go jayen you a recruit and you ain't going to Florida State what you doing what do one more put a smile on your face okay because super generous and uh we appreciate you hanging out with us tonight um Richie a weird one last year half the team had the flu you wrote just about everything that could go wrong did go wrong we were up 31 to1 at one point and uh man 19 straight points from Boston College got that thing real close real quick they score actually we we were drive we we had a drive and and dropped a long third down pass um it was just kind of right in the receiver's hands drop that um have to punt the ball they go score we have a fumble six they score again uh and then cut that down to to 19 uh or cut it down to two on a 190 run and all of a sudden 31 to10 tur into 3129 but Florida State found a way to win thankfully um we wouldn't even have having the conversations at the end of the year about if we were going to get in if if we had dropped that we would have known what was going on but um a weird one last year hopefully guys not sick this season or they you when we play Boston College it feels like every year there's something when we play BC it's either the bandana it's the bandana game every time we play there but it's the bandana game which you know means a lot and and is very special and and I'm not trying to make fun of that but play that against somebody else please uh some teams are sick remember the jayen year and James the second year it was the Jaylen scored that um fumble six we won 14 nothing were you there I think you were there right were you there for that yeah um B that one rain snow sleep like everything going on the weather was terrible so it's always something with BC but a weird one last year hopefully a little bit more normal this year yeah it just really was because you know that you're you're kind of on cruise control and then everything that seemed that could have gone wrong did and you kind of mentioned some of it one thing that a lot of people for forget you know when it was that two-point game I think it was a two-point game at the time um Boston College punted Keon Coleman misjudge the punt it hits off his leg and thankfully goes out of bounds because it stayed in bounds that's Boston College ball and that's probably ball game so it it was just it just again a weird game that one that happens every three or four years you don't get those every single year um especially given all the circumstances from half the team actually having the flu um you know kind of like the um 96 Sugar Bowl against Florida where half the team had food poisoning it just doesn't happen often but you know the Stars aligned for Boston College to win last year and Florida State somehow hung on to win um you know just looking back at um Thomas cus numbers he was 20 for 33 305 yards 9.2 in attempt one touchdown one interception with a 91 basically qbr but at the same time there were I think two or three just completely busted coverages uh where you know he got the majority of his yards but you cannot have that again like you cannot allow that to happen again to to Florida State's credit they found a way to hang on and win and you know if they were playing a more formidable opponent they probably do lose that game but Boston College again they're still you don't have a new coach this year if everything is is hunky dory in in Chestnut Hill that's not the case right now there's a lot going on there so I I think you know this is a great spot for Florida State to catch BC in and last year again just a weird weird game but they did find a way to win I think it'll be more comfortable this year we'll get into predictions at the end of the show but I I feel good heading into Monday as of Friday night at 7:30 p.m. yeah you remember just two years ago Florida State played Boston College and won 44 to 14 and for you know it was at at halftime it was um shoot what did we have something like uh 30 I think it was 31 nothing at halftime and so uh you know that was the Benson kick return to open the thing up the place was so sell out absolutely electric I know that the the the attendance is down a little bit this year with with the renovations and stuff but it should just still be pretty phenomenal in there um I I know people are let down after um you know after Georgia Tech in Dublin but I I think people are going to be pretty pretty excited to see this and I could see this getting away from from Boston College and and the nlls winning pretty big again I don't know if they'll win by 30 like they did uh with JT and those guys and and Benson but uh they could they could have a really nice night so BC picked 14 and and backing up just to Tad they were up 31 nothing at half one year and then they were up 3110 at half the next year like you could jump on BC right and I know that you know what they've done the last couple years isn't necessarily A predicting what's going to happen this year but you could certainly jump on this team and you can get out lead and you can kind of Blitz them early and uh 2020 22 shut him down didn't let them come back defense played really well 23 was a weird second half um where guys a lot of guys just look Gass and so hopefully you can kind of shut him down this year too uh BC picked 14th in the conference ahead of wake wake was a dumpster fire last night UVA and Stanford at ACC kickoff um great addition to the ACC yeah hilarious really bad um you know David hail ranks all which which I gave David Hae a lot of credit about Georgia where he was ranking Georgia Tech and that certainly came back to bite me so maybe I shouldn't be telling you all this but um yeah he's got BC ranked really low in a lot of places quarterback very mid you talked about where what casanas was able to do last year last year he had you know oh you have this you have this in the stats of cup so I won't say it but yeah you know they're not a great team okay running backs they've got a really good left tackle um they've got a tackle that rates only behind Darius Washington in the in the ACC uh but I don't think they have enough on the offensive line for Monday night say what I think he's out Monday night I think they're is he out yeah I'm pretty sure we'll we'll double we'll fact check that um but I'm pretty sure their top two left tackles are both out for Monday night hold on hold on I just saw clay tweet about it clay Shout Out My Guy Kay Fink who we hung out with in Dublin a little bit um that'd be weird if he just tweeted about it unless they just went out hold on I'm going to look this up um Boston Aussie trapo no no another big test for pat p i don't think he's out let me Google his name real quick and see if he's out no no he's in he's in they've got some other guys out but I think he's in they have several guys out for a season opener which is you know unfortunate you never want to see that um one of their top defensive backs is out um but yeah this guy's in unfor okay unfortun for us um I'm not wishing injuries but no if he would have happened to have missed the game I wouldn't have been upset um so they've got some solid pieces but you not not enough to me to really keep this competitive if Florida State can limit casianos he's in a special he's a special athlete um who can do some really special things but you've just got to limit him you've got to take him away you know remember when we played John Morant in the in the in the in the postseason and you're like well eight guys on him and if anybody else beats us no big deal I almost think that's what you got to do you got to take casanis away they don't have enough outside of him to beat you and so that's what I think the game H has to be uh I like that they've shortened up some of the rotations on offensive line I like that they've shortened up the depth chart safety and linebacker and made some changes and I'm hoping that we spy a little bit I'm hoping that we don't just bull rush the edges I'm hoping that we play a little bit of contain because I think they're going to try to use his legs pretty extensively you have this stat in here which is a great stat he had three touchdowns against Florida State but on the season he had 15 passing touchdowns and 14 interceptions that means in 11 games he had 14 interceptions because he didn't throw a pick against FSU when he was bad he was really bad and threw over an interception a game getting up to there was actually another game he didn't have interception so he's getting up to like almost one and a quarter a game which is not good at all and so I think if you can and now again he's do for some I would think right he didn't throw any last year like it's time to give us a couple of this year but he is I to me if if you look at his statline after the game um and he hasn't gone off Florida state has won and probably won comfortably um so it all runs through him people and people it's almost like what people used to say about Florida State's Jordan Travis um oh it's just all about Jordan which wasn't really the case like Trey Benson and some of those guys were just doing ridiculous things too um but that truly is the case here like it is the talas C show and and if Florida State can limit him they'll be fine yeah I 100% agree you know they they don't have a ton of weapons um they do have a solid running back room you know I'll give them that but you know I'm really interested to see it and we'll talk about this here next about the trenches for Florida State they kind of got bullied a little bit by Georgia Tech which was surprising but looking back on it Georgia Tech does have a lot of experience on the offensive line and again Brent key and his you know I I I think he's a very good coach he he I think he's at top five in the ACC minimum um and he kind of you know he had this team prepared to play so if Florida State comes back and looks like you know you know I might have you know overrated them a good bit by saying they were a top five defensive line in the entire country I still think they can be a top 10 top 15 but it was almost embarrassing what we saw from them in Dublin but I do think a lot of that again it's first game it's weird you don't you never want to overreact to anything in every team you typically see the most growth in any game- to game scenario from game one to game two do they take that step this week on Monday night in do and it kind of get to that next level if they come and play pissed off I really like their chances we'll see what happens but yeah I I just think it's a scenario where Florida State this is a great opportunity Mike norell talks about response all the time how do you respond to this this is a great opportunity to respond to see what happens my guy Steph coming back with more heat will answer this in a second but let's play him another Sound fire up the war CH and fire up the war chant and plant the spear NOS wind NOS wind a little upsetting that we haven't been able to hear that yet um but obviously hoping to hear Cole Hayne say that um this weekend uh my apologies has already been mentioned but the footage of Dustin Hill practicing um in a regular Jersey yeah I think that's just kind of he's able to do straight line stuff you can run pretty straight lines Destin will not be back this year I mean maybe if you made the championship game and it was late Fe you know or early Fe you know late January early Fe like no it's it's late January not even early February maybe if you made the national championship game like you know I but even then feels fast you really want like at least nine months and that would be pushing it there so if he hasn't played all season and if Florida State's good enough to get the championship game I don't know that they're relying on Dustin Hill but yeah so again I don't know Florida State's prospects of of making the championship game in college football are super high this year but to me that's the only way he would play is if you went really deep into the playoffs and but I think he's out you know he would be he wouldn't be in shape he wouldn't be ready like if you've made the championship game some guys have stepped up and you're a pretty good team like that's the only way I could see him playing he ain't playing in a regular season game there there's no chance so straight line speed way different than be able to cut on those needs um I was uh you know even just walking like I had I had knee surgery my senior year in high school and um I was able to uh my senior night of basketball play but I just played like half a quarter like I just it was like I and I couldn't really play defense we played a Zone when I was in because I couldn't really cut or or follow guys around or anything like that it was and I was kind of told like you're not really cleared but you can run up and down the court and uh I hit my first three and I was like all right I'm out I was so winded I was so yeah I don't I don't think Elite athlete specimen so if TJ takes that long Dustin Hill is gonna take much longer well I was pretty I was I was bringing to high school Richie me and Dustin were kind of the same kind of cut from the same cloth I think but no not not at all um yeah my 1A little private high school so uh do you think that Florida state will open it up a little bit more I think M you know as much as I love Mike this is not me jumping on Mike or anything like that but as much as I love Mike I I um I I thought he was a little timid in the play calling I thought he wanted to keep DJ comfortable I thought he thought he could you know run the ball to a win and um by doing that you let Georgia Tech bring seven eight in the Box all the time and even when you were throwing it you only throwing it a yard or two down the field or or behind line of scrimmage guys were able to get to it and recover and so getting guys up in the Box didn't never hurt Georgia Tech ever and so do you think Mike open I I think well I'll give you my answer he better yeah he better open it up some this week cu I think the the the blueprints out on how to beat Florida State you put eight in the box and you make DJ throw and if DJ doesn't throw you ain't gonna it's gonna be tough to win a lot of game so I'm hoping Michael open it up some I I think he will I don't know if you have thoughts there Richie I think it was a learning experience I think if you remember Jimbo against NC State in 2012 um you know with Florida State opened up a two-score lead and Jimbo just kind of said okay we're good let's just get out of here with a win I feel like that was kind of Mike's mentality based on the way he called the game in Dublin last week where he kind of had the opening drive Got The Touch went for two phenomenal play call on that two-point conversion um but I think it his mentality kind of changed a little bit to say all right we're gonna win this game let's just take it easy we're not going to do anything crazy and that was the wrong mentality to take and again coaches have these learning moments does he learn from them and I think this Monday will tell us a decent bit of did he learn from them because he needs to you know go for the neck you know for her lack of better words I think this is a great opportunity for Mike noell to say hey guess what guys I messed up I didn't call the best game I got way too conservative and we're not doing that anymore we're going to play Florida State football back the way that you know what you're used to seeing with me in going back to his Memphis and even Arizona State days I I think this is big for Mike norell I think this is more important for Mike than it is for the players as a whole in terms of a bounceback game because again I thought he just that opening drive was so perfect I just think he thought in his mind he's like all right we're winning this game I don't want to show anything else we're just going to take it easy you know we might not blow him out but we're just going to get this win and get out of here and fourth quarter you're you're you're down and again on that game tying touchdown phenomenal drive that fourth and eight call that Norville called um just amazing but again he did not call that game the entire way that way he he only picked the spots and if he had called the entire game the way he did that first drive in that game tying touchdown Drive I think Florida State probably wins by two or three touchdowns to be honest but he he just didn't again learning experience let's see if he learns from it if he does that's awesome um if he doesn't and we're in another dog fight in the fourth quarter this week again I'm not giving up on Norvell because he's he's more than proven himself giving what he inherited where we are now but I'm going to start having questions saying like Mike what are we doing man like we need to make sure you you run this offense you trust Fuller to Wi the defense or to run the defense but this offense needs to be better than what we saw in Dublin yeah no no doubt about it um it was a little discouraging but we're you know we're not necessarily close to giving up just yet so um would hope that the defense improves a little bit we'll kind of move on from this a bit and we'll um maybe go into let's let's flip I'm gonna flip a couple of things around let's let's move on to our pick six Richie Just because I looked down what time it was we've actually had a really good conversation for like 30 minutes now um but let's move on to our pick six we'll pick the Boston College game in just a moment so hit the comments the big games that matter Clemson ug Penn State West Virginia Miami Florida Texas A&M nutre Dame LSU USC and then of course Florida State Boston College over on our college football addiction Channel Richie Clemson this line has been 14 for a long time and it's dropped all the way down to 11 and a half against ug man I loved ug at 14 I love him even more at 11 and a half but the line is making me kind of wonder what Vegas knows that we don't or what the betters know that we don't I'm sticking with ug here but the line movement is insane in this game this line movement reminds me a of a lot of Florida state Georgia Tech I'm going to take Clemson in this game just because outright or just the points just the points the 11 and a half and I might I might sprinkle a little on the money line you know you think Atlanta oh that's you know that's Georgia that's basically a home game for them no they're they're separated by 70 78 miles um of road from Clemson to Atlanta or to Athens and Atlanta's even closer it's two and a half hour trip it'd be like me or you Tj going up to Gainesville for the Florida Florida State game that's going to be a 50-50 crowd I don't know much about either team heading into the season I know the key players obviously but seeing the line moving like that that tells me the sharps are in heavy on Clemson um I think Dab's got some magic I will bet Clemson on the spread but I will also put maybe like 20 bucks on the money line just because I I would not be surprised I'm gonna stick with ug but I'll tell you that line movement scares the crap out of me Penn State a seven and a half Point favorite at West Virginia kind of two scores kind of one score cuz I guess you could have an eight-point win and that' be one score but that's always a weird thing to say but essentially a touchdown favorite at West Virginia who you like in this one uh give me West Virginia Pat McAfee was there did a show today it was electric you know those hillbillies and West Virginia are just nuts I think there will be a very real HomeField Advantage it's not the Backyard Brawl just quite which is normally pit versus West Virginia but those fan bases are very close to each other um I like West Virginia to cover again maybe sprinkle a little on the money line but I do think Penn State wins this game so I'm going West Virginia with the points and I'm I'm taking them to win I think they win this game now I'll tell you my confidence level is not like 110% Penn State's a really good team and has a really good front and really good running backs um but I'm gonna take West Virginia to win the game so let's ride um South Dakota State we saw North Dakota State last night get close-ish to Colorado it they were close but never really felt like they were going to win um South Dakota State plus 10 and a half at Oklahoma State I I don't understand this line I I think OK Oklahoma State wins this outright um not even outright but I think they cover and then some um I'd take them up to 13 and a half maybe even more so I'm going to roll with Oklahoma State this line again week zero week one it's so tricky in college football because it's like nobody really knows but but just on the surface I'm going Oklahoma State here I'm going to go the other way I'm going to go South Dakota state I'm going to say that the way that North Dakota State like I I'm almost just betting this side first of all I've never I haven't watched a game from either of these teams in a long time second of all um so like you know I'm some expert on this one this was not a game we broke down on college football addiction today um second of all I'm just betting on I'm just taking South Dakota State because of what North Dakota state did last night covering the spread and I don't think Oklahoma State's that good like they got boat raced by UCF last year so I I think Oklahoma State's a little bit overrated that's a little name power hey uh 10 years ago to the day that jamus had the hurdle at Oklahoma at at Jerry's World against Oklahoma state did you go to that we didn't know each other then I was I was there were you at the game yeah yeah that was front row in the end zone for that game it was amazing oh man I was s up right where Nate Andrews had the pick six I was literally right in the front row where oh that's epic that's epic we were on like the 50 but we were way way high up those you know the tickets boosters give us man so um but I'll take South Dakota State here all right I'm going to save the Miami game because we'll we'll go in a little bit more on that um Notre Dame plus three at A&M give me the Irish to win the game I don't know if that's still the Guinness flowing through me or not but I think it's a little bit disrespectful that Notre Dame is a dog here I think A&M's gonna take some time to get things turned around a little bit and um I I think no Dame wins this I you know I know they think Kyle Field's kind of like the swamp or or Tiger Stadium but it's not so Notre Dame plus three Give me the give me the money line I'll take the little extra juice of of Notre Dame winning 100% I I take not day money line I think Marcus Freeman is a phenomenal coach um you know I think he's one of the top 15 potentially top 10 coaches in the country uh he's done a great job at acquiring talent in South Bend I I just I don't understand this line like you know I I get the game is at Texas A&M and I get they're going to have over 100,000 plus people there but that's not a daunting environment it like you can have a 70,000 oh boy you better hope they don't find this my comments will be you you better you can have a 70,000 seat venue that's a much more daunting I'd rather play at Texas A&M than I would have to play at Virginia Tech which is like 65,000 Raleigh yeah with with the I go to Texas 10 times out of 10 before I went to the swamp that's not even that's not even a question yeah 100% so you remember when they rank T&M like number one overall toughest places to play and then uh and they adjusted that real quick down to like 15 or something so oh man no I I love Marcus Freeman I think he's a I think he you can never say a coach is gonna win a national title because only three coaches coaching this year have won a national title um Kirby Dabo and mat Brown so that's a high high high expectation but I I do think margus Freeman is a guy I don't know if he'll do it at Notre Dame I think he might have to go somewhere in the SEC or the Big 10 Notre Dame just their their admissions are so difficult but I really do I'm a huge believer in Marcus Freeman I think he's a great coach so we'll see what happens there but yeah I'm I'm taking Notre Dame and I will bet them on the money line I'm not even going to bother him the spread yeah uh Fresno State against fraud State that's Michigan the cheaters uh fighting Conor stallions uh Fresno State plus 21 I think Michigan covers here I think Michigan's going to have to make statements any and every week that they can um 21's a ton of points I don't know why you put this on here and made it so tough on us but um I I uh I think they cover um I I I think they get it I I think they man they three toughest games are Texas Oregon and Ohio State I think they lose all three of them maybe they could beat Texas um but that's next week honestly so that'll be the game of the week next week um but I think they know that they got to make statements if they want a chance uh to get in at 9 and three maybe 10- two if they can steal a win somewhere um I think they they put pedal to the medal I think Michigan covers here I'm gonna go Fresno I mean I I would love to have the hook um at 21 and a half but at 21 even then I I just think again these lines are funny because when you hear Michigan the defending national champs versus Fresno State you would think the L be like what 34 and a half and it's at 21 yeah there's a reason it's right there I'm going to take Fresno and I I'm not going to bet this personally um for the purpose of this podcast I am going to bet it um in terms of what I'm saying but I'm not going to put any of my actual money on this game because I I have no idea what's gonna happen here um all right let's talk a little Florida Miami so let's talk about the game and then we'll we'll do that spread um I might split this off into its own thing um depending on how quickly I could get it out but Florida and Miami as a Florida State fan I've actually this week I've I've I've thought one way Richie I'm going to it I'm going to the swamp yeah um first of all how hilarious is it that like the two things I think Florida fans are talking about more than anything is the stadium noise like hoping that the stadium will will win them the game and then uh second I think they're talking about the white out like they are so pissed that their admin is making do a white out and Miami did you see the Miami tweet did you see the Miami like somebody told us to wear white um amazing like I hate to give the canes credit for anything that was phenomenal and so Florida fans are like you know they don't like the white out because they think like people aren't going to buy into it and not going to do it they want to wear orange and blue because those are their colors um and I get it I wouldn't wear white either um great you know tailgating in white sounds terrible I'm G to wear white to the game tomorrow Richie I can't wait I I I already I texted Ally I'm going with allly I'm like hey I got my Polo I'm ready to go I'm wearing white like you guys want me to and so it's a it's a double fries Polo but whatever uh but it's all it's a white Adidas polo so I'm excited for that um I've heard arguments both ways for what's better for FSU and I actually heard a better a new one this week my guy Jay over at rapid SEO um host who we do some work with on on some videos through the week um he said man if we're not as good as we think we are we might need a really quality win and um you know Notre Dame will give us that but Miami could give us that too and I'm not usually one that cheers for Rivals to be good so that when you beat them you look better but this might actually be a week where I'm sorry a year where that matters you know I I think Florida State just needs to worry about the next game ahead of them but I don't play so I can worry about things like in week nine week 10 like it ain't a f my focus doesn't need to be on you know blocking and Route running and stuff so that's not a bad argument I and you know what I want personally doesn't matter as much as like what's better for Florida State and I I'm almost leaning that if Miami i' I've thought for a long time if Miami wins this that's bad for the nolles um Florida States in it with a lot more of Florida's recruits than they are miamis and uh if naier gets canned that that probably works out bodess out well for Florida State maybe grabbing one or two um so Florida and Florida State are are going head-to-head recruiting wise um Miami again you might need a quality win at some point Miami could be that quality top 10 win at some point so I don't know I I hate to flip and I keep going back and forth but there's some advantages to Florida winning too uh and that's just smacking down Miami and and not having to hear their mouth so much on the internet for the next three or four weeks but uh what do you think man where where are you lying with this because I I'm going back and forth on what's actually better for Florida State so I'm not rooting for either team obviously I will watch the game and enjoy it um but I think it's better for Florida State if Miami wins this game I I I think Florida is going to get absolutely you know whooped in the the back half of their schedule to where by the time we play them they might already be eliminated from Bal potential um Miami has a chance to if they win this game against Florida which I think they should we'll get into that prediction in a second um and continues to win games it's not a conference game if if this was a ACC game I would want Miami to lose because we we crapped the bet against Georgia de so we kind of need some help now but considering it's an out-of-conference game and Florida has in my opinion at least five losses on the schedule already want that Miami team to be top 15 potentially even top 10 when you play them and if you do get that win okay now now you're cooking with grease right you're okay what seasons back on track yeah we lost to Georgia Tech but you know potentially we beat Clemson and now we beat Miami and now okay we're we're right back in the thick of this thick of the discussion I I think the best thing for Florida State which is all I care about is Miami beating Florida because I don't think Florida by week 10 11 12 they're going to be Beyond an afterthought at that point Billy n Pier may not even be the head coach at that point yeah okay so here I'm gonna I'm gonna test you or get your thoughts on this I agree with that in a micro sense like just for this season in a in a macro s zooming out 30,000 ft right um I kind of think about what this game would mean for both programs what the season could mean for both programs and I won't lie if Miami wins this I think they their only games that they could really lose on their schedule are this one Virginia Tech Louisville and Florida State maybe Georgia Tech maybe so like five they got five they could win well let's say they go 500 there well they're either going to go 10 and two or nine and three right they're it would shock me if Miami was to lose any game that's not one of those you know they're I don't see them losing to Duke they're not losing to FAMU they're not losing to USF like the only games they could lose are Florida Florida state Georgia Tech Virginia Tech and uh Louisville and I I'm not really even sold on Louisville they nearly beat Louisville last year and and and I think they're going to beat him this year too so all that said part of me thinks that big picture it would be good for Miami to lose this and then maybe lose one more soon so that the wheels kind of come off because Mario's already recruiting at a top five level when they're like terrible like they were seven and six this year and he brought in a top five class I I mean just let's be honest you know as much as we Troll and and make fun of him for bad coaching and and clock management and personel decisions and this that and the other I would not necessarily want to see what his recruiting class looks like um if they start to put together eight nine 10 win seasons and um so in a very micro sense I think we're you know and so yeah it's kind of a win-win either way it's kind of a lose lose either way like somebody's gonna have to get this win but I could see a situation where you could say like man Miami could put together a 10- win season this year um we don't really want Mario to be recruiting with a 10- win season uh he's recruiting really well with a seven- win season in a five- win season and so I'm not asking if that necessarily changes your mind but do you have thoughts on that either way no I I I think that's definitely it's notable because I do think think Mario could probably survive a seven and five season or a six and six season this year I don't think b and a pier can survive that same record yeah you know I think the Florida fan base has more High aspirations high expectations Miami they're just okay they've been so not bad but you know they they've not been in the National conversation outside of 2017 when they beat Notre Dame back at Hard Rock and then went on to lose their final three games of the Season you know outside of that year they've not been in the National conversation Florida has been Florida has real aspirations Miami doesn't their fans you know they're kind of happy with the idea of hype and just what they could be they don't really care about the results on the field based on what we've seen the last 22 years since they won their last National Title so I I I do think Mario is going to be safe and if you start letting him stack more and more top five don't let him make it a top three class and beyond that could be problematic Nate Pier he's not going to be there in three years I think we all know that doesn't matter what happens but I do think for strictly the 2024 season I think a Florida wins best for Florida State so I uh I go back and forth on it I also just think like for okay so like on a personal level I'm gonna be there tomorrow do I want to see now as much as I would love to see like 90 th000 upset people walking out the stadium and me with a big smile on my face from year to year um because my team didn't lose I already got the Tweet ready to go for whoever I got two Tweets in my draft so just you know I'm not gonna say it on here because I know one of you guys will steal them professional right there yeah yeah i' I've got my I've got my tweets drafted and locked and loaded because I y'all been trolling me all week so um just get ready for it but um part of me as well like I I I would never cheer for Florida like I I will not no clap once I will not root once I might clap after the national anthem uh but um I part of you likes to feel the excitement of a thrilling win at the last second and hear that Roar of the crowd like not enough to cheer for the Gator like that don't don't get me wrong there but there's something to be said like when I went to see Clemson Notre Dame I I kind of wanted Clemson to win that because I wanted to hear I wanted the Clemson crowd to be in it for as much as they could because it was a phenomenal crowd when I went to LSU B same thing I wanted LSU to win um just because I it was it was that crowd and and I wanted to hear 95,000 people or 90 whatever the number is just lit and out of their minds and so again I'm not going to cheer for Florida to so that I can experience that but kind of personally that that will that's cool to experience man I was in the swamp and they should have lost this but I was in the swamp for the heave to cleave when they we losing to Miami and they just threw the ball up at the last minute and it comes down he catches the ball walks it off for that win and as much as that annoyed me because I was cheering for Tennessee that day like I was all checkerboarded man I was I was gos I was that ugly or that real ugly orange that they wear um it was It was kind of cool to see that he to cleave now obviously it pissed me off because it was it meant uf1 and I had been cheering for Tennessee the whole time but it was it was cool to I mean you know it's hard to not be excited when there's 80,000 EXC you know when your team's not playing so I don't know personally I could go either way do you who do you think wins the game I think Florida wins oh man I'm me okay so I I think Miami wins but I want to hear your reasoning behind it then I'll tell you mine and then we'll wrap up and talk BC and get out of here I'd feel a lot better if it was a night game a 7:38 PM kickoff at the swamp um Graham Merz you know I I talking about trolling TJ I got all my trolls off on Graham Merz when the gator brought him in he surprised the hell out of me he was really I'm not going to say really good but he was much better than I expected him to be um I do think Miami has a better roster but I just think you know cam Ward's first game in Miami system you know it's going to look a lot different I just think Florida everything sets up in their favor so they have a less talented roster but not by a ton like Florida's roster as much as we like to have fun they're still talented um is more talented but I think Florida has more camarad and with Bill and a pi you know we like to joke about him I I he's not a great coach he's still a better game day coach than Mario Chrystal ball and if this comes down to a fourth quarter game last possession somehow I'm going to trust Billy ner more than Mario Cris ball despite having the less talented roster um I will probably not bet a lot but I will bet money on Florida on the money line and I think Miami goes home upset with a loss I again back and forth back and forth here to me the game comes down to it's not merch it's not Ward it's not the coaches it's not special teams it's not kneeling down it comes down to Florida's offensive line against Miami's defensive line and I said this in the I said this in a lot more words over on the college football addiction uh preview so if you're getting to hear me say this go over there and watch that long thing that you shouldn't you know waste your time on but I'm asking you to and I think that because of that I think that because of the the fact that it's going to be Florida's o line Miami's defensive line I I don't see how Florida Texs Graham Merz enough I don't see how Miami's defensive line doesn't make the KN just an absolute living you know what um and for that reason I think Miami wins this now I think it's close I think it's incredibly close I could certainly certainly see a situation where Florida wins it but I like Miami to cover maybe win going away um just because I don't trust their offensive line against that uh front from the canes so I hope I'm wrong I but I Florida State and Florida State obviously loses by essentially that score um I'm taking Florida State again I'm taking Florida State again I I I will probably bet on Boston College to cover I think something like 31 to 23 um so I'll probably be taking I don't know that's the under or the over I'll have to double check on that but I I think Florida State wins and it might be a backdoor not not backdoor cover yeah I guess it would be a back to recover by Boston College but I I think Florida State wins the game fairly comfortably but I don't think we cover the I think 16 and a half is way too much I just based on what I saw last week and maybe it's still some PTSD from last year that game when when casianos and you know we're all on the edge of our couch at the the last four or five minutes of that game um so yeah I'll say 3123 Florida State yeah I'll go uh I'll say we do cover I'll I'll say something like 314 38 17 maybe I'll go 38 seems like a lot five touchdowns but 3817 I'll
