THERE WERE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT HOW THE PROCESS WORKS, AND THAT CONVERSATION IS LIVE AND ACTIVE. >> LET'S BRING IN SOMEBODY WHO HAS OPERATED AT THE HIGHEST LEVELS AND HAS BEEN TALKING TO PEOPLE FOR ALSO BE CONFINED TO WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THOSE CIRCLES. PRESIDENT OBAMA'S CAMPAIGN MANAGER IN 2008. DAVID, I KNOW YOU HAVE BEEN TALKING TO SOME OF POLITICS INCLUDING WHAT WE GINGERLY CALL THE DONOR CLASS. WHAT WAS YOUR PERSONAL TAKE ON WHAT YOU SAW TONIGHT AND WHAT ARE YOU HEARING FROM THE PEOPLE YOU HAVE BEEN SPEAKING WITH? >> I THINK CONSISTENT WITH YOUR REACTION AND OTHERS. KIND OF A DEVCON ONE MOMENT. I DO THINK THEY GAVE AN IMPORTANT CAVEAT. I BEEN DEEPLY INVOLVED IN PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN DEBATES. SOMEWHAT WELL AND SOME DIDN'T. THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS. YOU WILL KNOW FOR THREE OR FOUR DAYS. OUT THE VOTERS WILL REACT. I ALSO HAVE DEEP SUSPICION THAT DONALD TRUMP WITH SWING VOTERS BOMBED AS WELL. THAT IS THE TRAGEDY BECAUSE I THINK JOE BIDEN. THE BIGGEST THING IS BOATERS CONCERNS WITH HIS AGE, AND THOSE WERE COMPOUNDED TONIGHT. WITH THE CAMPAIGN IS GOING TO DO IS TRY TO RUN ADS TO BIDEN WILL GO OUT TOMORROW AND THE NEXT DAY BEING AGGRESSIVE. WAS NOT JUST HIS CRAZINESS AND LIES. DONALD TRUMP WOULD NOT EVEN ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT CHILDCARE OR THE OPIOID CRISIS. TALK ABOUT SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN CONSUMED WITH HIS SELF, WHICH IS THE MESSAGE THEY WANTED TO LAND. THIS REMINDS ME A LITTLE BIT OF 2012, BUT IN REVERSE. WE HAD A SMALL BUT SIGNIFICANT IMPORTANT LEAD IN BATTLEGROUND STATES. A REALLY BAD FIRST DEBATE. BIDEN IS BEHIND IT NARROWLY RIGHT NOW. HE IS THE ONE THAT HAS TO CHANGE THE EQUATION HERE. THE BIGGEST BARRIER THAT IS KEEPING HIS CEILING LOW IS CONCERNS ABOUT AGE. I THINK THAT IS A TRAGEDY BECAUSE I THINK TRUMP HAD SO MANY OPENINGS THAT YOU COULD HAVE JUST SCISSOR THEM UP TONIGHT. BIDEN DID HAVE A COUPLE OF GOOD MOMENTS, BUT I THINK AT THE END OF THE DAY THE OVERALL REACTION DOES NOT MATTER WHAT PEOPLE LIKE US SAY. IT IS WHAT THE VOTERS IS A. IF THEY WERE ALREADY CONCERNED I THINK ABOUT IT SADLY AS THEY ARE THREE YEARS APART. THEY SEEMED ABOUT A 30 YEARS APART TONIGHT. I THINK THAT WILL BE THE THING THAT THE VOTERS REALLY WRESTLE WITH COMING OUT OF THIS.>> IN TERMS OF PEOPLE WHO ARE HAVING THE KIND OF INFLUENCE THAT VOTERS HAVE, WHICH IS A PHD THESIS TO BE DONE RIGHT THERE IN THE PREMISE OF THIS QUESTION. WHAT KIND OF REACTIONS ARE YOU HEARING IN TERMS OF WHAT CHANGES THEY WANT TO SEE, AND WHAT REACTION THEY WANT TO SEE FROM TEAM BIDEN IN RESPONSE TO WHAT HAPPENED TONIGHT? >> THERE IS REALLY ONLY TWO SCENARIOS BUT ONE WOULD BE HE DECIDES TO STEP DOWN, AND WE HAVE A FASCINATING SEVEN-WEEK CAMPAIGN TO GET THE SUPPORT OF DELEGATES IN CHICAGO. THE ONLY OTHER OPTION IS SOMEHOW TO WRITE THE SHOULD.. I AM NOT SURE WHETHER HE WILL DEBATE AGAIN. FASCINATING. YOU MIGHT THINK THIS WENT WELL FOR HIM. YOU CAN CERTAINLY SEE HIM SAYING I AM DONE, SO THAT IS A HUGE QUESTION MARK BECAUSE BIDEN NEEDS THE NEXT DEBATE NOW. ALL YOU CAN DO IF YOU ARE A DEMOCRAT IS ASK YOURSELF WHAT CAN I DO? WE MISSED AN OPPORTUNITY TONIGHT. A SIGNIFICANT OPPORTUNITY, BUT IT IS STILL A CLOSE RACE. THIS WILL COME OUT, BUT I TALKED TO PEOPLE DOING FOCUS GROUPS WITH SWING VOTERS. AS MUCH AS THEY WERE CONCERNED ABOUT HIS PERFORMANCE NO ONE WAS SAYING I AM REALLY EXCITED ABOUT DONALD TRUMP COMING BACK TO THE PRESIDENCY. HE RECONFIRMED ALL THE REASONS THEY VOTED AGAINST HIM IN 2020. I LOOK AT THAT AS A HUGE MISSED OPPORTUNITY BECAUSE HE PROVIDED A LOT OF OPENINGS FOR THEM TO REALLY EXACERBATE THAT. I THINK DEMOCRATS WILL SPEND
