good day congratulations thank you yeah good day um how did that feel when you hit that ball down here for four and that the evation you got was Sensational yeah it was it was nice obviously pretty cool feeling but um yes it's same as last time we spoke really just I'm not got much for you to be honest is that it I mean you make baty Look So Easy oh I've just gone past alist cook sir aliser cook in the 3400s 700s here at Lords most runs by anyone else here at Lords most runs by an English test batsman in this country 200 test catches oh okay no worries it should been a few more catches I'll come on to that later one the other day no but a a proud day for you and your family surely very proud nice to share a moment with my dad as well walking off the field so that was really quite special um and like say it's they're all things that in a few years time when I'm um I washed up veteran that I might be able to look back and enjoy him but I feel like um at the minute I've got a lot of cricket still to play but yeah that was really really nice moment I thought you going to blank him no I didn't I didn't realize he was there to start with just wanted a bit of TV time didn't M and family here Carrie here yeah yeah car's we've been up um in the Box as well so it was really nice yeah come on that that little boy in Sheffield growing up wanting to play test match cricket wanting to play for England yeah be buzzing yeah he would be buzzing yeah is he still inside there he still you just can't on air no definitely still in there um but yeah be pretty happy today what gives you the desire to keep going I do enjoy batting I'm not going to lie um but I I think like we walked out today and obviously it's a nice position to be in we're so far ahead of the game but there's there's never you're never B in the same situation twice and it's always like a like a a a new opportunity to go and you know get your team into a position where you can win the game and I I actually really enjoyed the the tempo that you had to find out there today we wanted to move the game forward as quickly as we could and give ourselves maximize these conditions as well with the overcast and lights on if we could get there get to a a good number sooner rather than later then and give ourselves more time when it's overcast like this at Lords you know how much of an impact that can have here in particular when it's cloudy and the light R it does generally do a little bit more so um we we spoke about that I think as a as a group to to score I know the the fields were back and stuff but to be smart and get get them to uh consistently score in at 5 six and over was you know made made that I guess um made us get to that position earlier you talk about Tempo the last three Innings we've watched the one at Old Trafford the first 100 in the first innings in this one all three different temped Innings do you enjoy that challenge yeah and and that's I guess that's the yeah what you judge yourself on as a player is can you play the situation the scenario and and manage it well for a period of time and that's kind of what wanted to do today was you know the only time that was started getting frustrated was towards a back end where you don't want the game to stand still and you don't want to drag out four or five overs where you're getting one and over and it becoming all about you you want to get get going with the game um so yeah I was a bit tchy towards the back end because you know that's that's not what we're about as a team we want to keep as much as we can moving the game on and and applying pressure when when we're on top did you think olle was going to declare on before he got there I'd have loved it if you so funny um I might not have enjoyed it at the time but no um like I say you you play to win um the fact that we still got such a long time left and maybe meant that he didn't have to um but yeah it would have been it would have been F an interesting conversation at the close of day's play what about the state of the game though because enormously frustrating I guess that you had to come off because of bad light just explain the reasons why you did come off OE decided he wanted to bowl the seamers again and it was just too dark was he worried about making the ball soft for potentially tomorrow in the seamers yeah that's that's generally been um you're wanting to keep that that firmness towards the ball especially the scam you want to make it it's it's it's generally felt like wobble Seaman has nipped around a bit with that harder ball if we can maximize that then we're going to give ourselves the best chance you know you you feel you always feel like you you got an opportunity in in these conditions where if you get one it could create chaos but um yeah I think that was the deciding fact to was we we gave it a chance we we tried Spin and felt like we didn't want to put too many overs into that ball going into tomorrow special day for you be more special if you can get that win tomorrow it would it would yeah congratulations don't blank your dad when you later on we'll see you tomorrow Play Congratulations play Boss B makes it look so easy doesn't he when he plays and you can just tell it it ain't about the records it will be maybe in years time when he sat there with his grandchildren on his knee or something but at the moment no don't mean a thing really no no not at all and he is exactly the person that you see that's how he is almost Ed that he's scored the amount of runs that he has and a little bit slow to getting or maybe sacrificing a bit outside the team to get to his 100 when he completely wasn't at all he's an absolute joy to have played with him for so long but like I said earlier to to sit back and watch a master Craftsman at work is just brilliant there are so many lessons within his batting for young players out there the balance the Poise the the foot movement um getting forward forward back almost at ease You' said it just makes it look so easy yet so simple
