The Snake and Pat Tillman there's nothing quite like a great rivalry matchup in college football the bitterness the intensity the lifetime of memories that will come as a result of what we're about to see in this one as we'll see the number 16 team in the country the Arizona Wildcats taking on another team from the Big 12 the Arizona State sundevils for EA Sports college football I'm ree Davis Jo joined here in the booth as always by David Pollock and Jesse Palmer guys let's tee this one up the Sun Devils will kick it off to get us underway and he takes this from inside the five and he'll be brought down after a solid effort on that return the will take over first and [Applause] [Music] on first down here comes this offense defense going to jam these receivers right off the line still running at the 40 and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end and the wild cats want to move quickly they're going to ride this running back and he won't quite get there but boy after that pick up just a few inches to go for the first an array of possibilities here Zona Zoo had a huge celebration with a big win the last time they saw the devil and it just felt like in that game everything Arizona dialed up was working Arizona State's defense in this game David they have got to play better they got to play better they got to step up cuz last time the Sun Devils got that Pitchfork stolen and the wild cats used it on him over and that pass intercepted he'll try to take it back he's at the 40 and a big return after the int sets up the offense with this possession it's a defense that Prides themsel on taking the football away they believe they could impact this game with turnovers and they get an interception on the opening drive wasn't a big return but that doesn't matter they stole a possession that is huge for their [Music] confence first down here for the offense Black 2 they'll run it in the Red Zone it's scattero and that defense doesn't allow a cut back and they get him out of bounds after a short game hey five to six yds a pop I don't know if you guys are really good at math but that usually equals a first down every couple carries so don't forget about the Run game keep them honest pound that rock got it going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down here's the handoff he almost punched it in for six they'll get him down at the one yd line and you know big chunks like this don't happen unless you commit to the Run game you got to get those big boys up front into the game understanding I want to knock people off of the football create some holes like you do here for my running back make the game easy on the and the sundevils trying to cash it in on first and goal he'll try to get it in with the run into the end zone he goes touchdown Arizona State offense did exactly what it's supposed to do with a start like that one when you're set up with that field position you're thinking touchdowns you're not thinking field goals it's exactly what the offense does takes advantage of great field position [Music] they'll try to add another to their lead exra point and with the extra point they get the first seven of the game quick strike offense on that three-play scoring drive and they capped it off with a one-yard pun about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown the returner will field it and try to do some business nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the [Music] [Applause] 22 Arizona sending the offense onto the field boy they had that last Drive moving a little bit David but then the mistake just crushed them yeah and those mistakes are going to happen you going to throw the football you're going to throw interceptions but I think I stay aggressive with this offense I get back to what I did in the first part of that drive what made me successful I agree David just turn the page if you're a quarterback right on this drive he did a lot of good things there leading up to that pick forget about it move on play the next play back to throw it's favid fires to the tight end and the defense settled in to stop that one for a short game the first time the Sun Devils and the wild cats met Arizona wasn't even a state yet it was 1899 Reese Davis a college football effici Auto and a history buff too great history between these two schools though yeah and it goes back obviously that long so many classes so much hatred it's beautiful when rivalries really matter and it matters to the people in Arizona and he unleashed the RPMs on that pass man this sophomore has an arm quarterbacks are just like anybody else they get in rhythms and to get in a rhythm early on thir down and have a little success here and get the sticks moving great chance to continue to get this offense moving down the field to get some little points great job of contain by this defense and in order to do that the end man on the line of scrimmage defensively has got to be able to set the point and force the football back into traffic that's exactly what happened as they get set to snap it just about to reach the end of the quarter [Applause] and after the tackle we are headed to the end of the first [Applause] quarter of the zero back on the field after the break and we'll start the quarter here on third down from the gun wants to pass fires it incomplete every defense in the country talks about getting offenses in predictable third and long situations where I can bring on more speedsters and I know the pass is coming so I can have more success I don't know if this is the time for this type of risk offense going for it inside its own 40 on fourth down looking to pass complete and looking for enough for the first down it's a fumble how about that alert play from the defense to scoop it up well it looked like he was going to get the first down there you're the quarterback you're the coach you're thinking all right fresh set of downs offensive coordinator's already looking at his play sheet getting ready to dial up the next play but not so fast David defense comes away with a massive takeway huge takeway and think about it you're trying as hard as you can to get him down stop him on this fourth down get the ball back he gets the first down it's a little bit demoralizing but because you're run to the football you get get a hand on it you get the football out now you get it's like it's like stopping them on fourth down anyways cuz you got the ball and you're getting it back to your offense and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pickup but with the weapons this offense has you knew it was just a matter a time in the Run game before someone was going to break a long one they' just been running into a wall that just couldn't seem to find their creases and get enough movement up front but they finally got it there picking up the first let's see what happens next takes a hand off and he's going right found a little running room and they get him stopped after a pickup of six to the 32 I know that's not a huge game but those run plays add up they make you tackle the back every single play physically you have to get some guy on the ground it takes its toll throughout a fourth quarter game second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute warning give to Brown and he's brought down after a nice game it's the two-minute warning and we'll see if the offense can tack a little something extra on their lead before the break the sundevils will line it up on First and 10 to the ground he's got it again they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and if you want to bring all your tight ends in the game you know what I'm going to do I'm going to bring in more linebackers more defensive lineman get ready for the Run less speed on the field especially when you get down here in the Red Zone I feel like I can match match up manto man with those tight ends in the back end nice job understanding a run was coming lost one on that last one it's second and 11 he's looking to throw fires toward the end zone and it's caught touchdown sundevils it's hard for a defense to have to cover so much space when the offense goes empty you get receivers and tight ends and running backs lined up out wide you got to expand and it's harder to cover on the back end they'll try to attack one more on their score and the extra point makes it 14 nothing a very efficient five-way scoring drive and they finish things off with a 21 yd touchdown pass on the move from inside is five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 Arizona has it back the offense coming out to Bear down that last fumble proved to be costly as they cashed it in for a touchdown yeah and so this defense now is Juiced they're excited and ready to go so this offense David they've got to get something going yeah those turnovers can be contagious man it gets you excited and then when your offense takes it down the field and does something with it this offense better be ready to play against a motivated defense to the air it's favid fires to the right and it goes through his hands oh he had an explosive play right there for the Tak but couldn't reel it in hey man if you're going to force incompletions when the QB's thrown at the tight end you better be physical nice job with the hit forcing that incompletion throws to the wide out he makes a catch found a bunch of room and got it to the 44 yd line they'll rush to the line clock stopped for the first down they'll set the chains and wind the clock looking to move it through the air throws to the tight end makes a connection slicing and dicing through this defense and they've got it down to the 23 Arizona in a hurry Corner showing press they want to be physical here able to pick his way forward for a decent game before the defense gets him down clocks running and they'll try to get to the line warped speed for second down he's looking to throw to the end zone and it's picked off not
