what is up everybody Welcome to heads up play SEC preview of The Old Miss land sharks or the black bears or the or the we don't say we don't say the other one we're not allowed what was that ESP commercial the the am roll enroll Act I don't remember that one you didn't see that it's like it's not crazy it's just Sports oh yeah yeah I but we are here today to discuss about the Old Miss Rebels I'm trying to get my camera looking around so y can see me looking sexy beautiful face oh we're here to talk about the Old Miss Rebels so let's get into it you know there's a lot of hype about Old Miss this year I think this is might might be the most hyped even in the freeze kind of error I mean this is the most hyped Old Miss team I think anybody's ever been absolutely you know you've had there's a deep history with Old Miss football obviously going back to uh the days of Archie Manning right uh and his success uh but overall you know you've had some good teams here and there but you you haven't won an SEC Championship in your entire history heck you haven't even made it to Atlanta uh let alone that the best seasons that you've had let's be real have been the past two seasons under Lane kein and he has brought Old Miss to real prominence there have been some good teams like you said uh the hu freeze days in 2013 14 15 remember the couple years they beat Alabama Houston nut had a few good teams they would I remember seeing old miss you know in the top 10 every now and then back in those days but for the most part it's been kind of lackluster and that's due to uh lack of uh resources for recruiting people don't want to be in Mississippi it's a little bit poor um and it doesn't really have the history but you're right absolutely laye kein has got the train rolling there in Oxford Mississippi and he's been doing it because of recruiting and especially out of the transfer portal oh yeah the portal has been massive this year for the Old Miss Rebels I mean now they did lose of course it by it was massive it really was before I think it happened before sain left because you know of course the biggest transfer was Caleb downs but before Sabin left the biggest transfer was uh Quan Judkins yeah Judkins I mean that was by far the biggest transfer I mean he led the SEC in rushing yards I believe yeah you know what Ohio State's been doing and look we're doing SEC stuff here and this and we're doing Old Miss but really you know it's it kind of seems like the second that old uh Ohio State took Quin Shawn Judkins the Ohio State snowball of all the transfers that they got and and the recruiting sets that they've had so far in 2024 that really took off when they got Quin Shan Judkins out of the portal and Quin Shan Judkins had one of the best seasons for a running back uh in the SEC in a very long time in 2022 little bit lackluster I don't want to say lackluster still really good but not quite as good as his 2022 season in 2023 gotta wonder if maybe there were some things going on for Quin Shawn that he wanted to get out I don't know maybe there were niil opportunities that he felt he wasn't getting at ol Miss who knows but Lane kein has killed it in the transfer portal gotten a ton of great guys especially on defense you and I were not huge fans of Pete Golding the defensive coordinator but Old Miss fans seem to love him I'm telling you I mean they landed this is their transfer portal they got on defense you got the number three player on 247 Sports and Walter noan defense massive dog dog first round pick dog you get Edge rusher princ Ley um manle imen yeah I learned how to say that not too long ago he from he has an nil deal or maybe it's uh I believe it's nil deal with um could have been records you know could have been records is it dusi could records I love it so they they land him on defense you also get Trey Os from Alabama you get Chris Paul Jr AKA CP3 and don't remember a guy you and I know pretty well South Alabama cornerback yam Banks safy safy safety def we ain't even talking about the offensive players they got on trans for I mean you got in Antoine Wales Jr wide receiver from South Carolina you got running back Kendrick ranone from no my bad he transferred from moment my bad read that wrong but you got TI end decoin Wright from Virginia Tech running back Logan Diggs from LSU got a interior offensive lineman Nate calipo from Washington and then you got running back also Rashad alos to from Maryland I mean you you got some transfers from oh miss yeah he's really built the entire I don't want to say the entire program because he is building he is doing good recruiting you know out of high school but I mean Lane kein is doing things in the transfer portal that I really no other coaches doing you'd have to say that he's been the best utilizer of the transfer portal since its Inception you know there have been some other good uh coaches who have utilized it well like I think Dan lanning's done a good job Ryan day has done good um and some other guys but Lane kein is the transfer portal King right now and hey why not I mean it's a place where the expectation is isn't super high I mean because Lane keen's given these guys the best seasons that they've had why would you not want to go to a place that you know is probably going to win you've got a coach that's I mean let's be honest he's one of the funniest guys out there on Twitter right absolute troll um and the expectations aren't that high so if you don't actually pull it off then hey so what uh but this is going to be a really interesting year for Miss um return one of the best quarterbacks not just in the SEC in my opinion but probably in the country and Jackson Dart do you have any expectations for Jackson Dart do you think that he takes a step up a step back does he need to because I don't really think he does I think he's gonna need to in order to go further than what they think I mean if they want to make playoffs you need Jackson Dart the kind of Step Up in my opinion did he have a great season last year yes but he needs to kind of pick it up a little bit in my opinion okay okay I agree with that um so let's get to the schedule so I've got a couple games on here you've got a couple I think we're both in agreement and I did not put our cameras on here uh but you know what it's okay that you know it's a Monday we're recording this um my well you know what we'll we'll stick here for just a minute and I like the Georgia Southern logo that you put on I like that logo real old school real old school yeah so but uh you know let's take a look let honestly John Rivers the hardest games on here are Georgia LSU may maybe Oklahoma that's it I mean since since we don't have the camera on there I'm not going to stick it on there too much longer but I mean I I the only really reason that I think you maybe lose to LSU is because it's back in Baton Rouge this year they probably want revenge for last year you know it was kind of a g there was a offensive shootout last year I'm sure Brian Kelly wants to get some Revenge from that game but uh you know I think this Old Miss team will really really um do well just because they don't have that bad of a schedule and you get you get Georgia at home so who knows maybe you go crazy I don't think you beat Georgia you ain't gonna be Georgia and Oxford you ain't gonna beat Georgia in damn Albuquerque New Mexico you're just not gonna be Georgia that's not going to happen um I mean right now they got the line right now oh miss LSU you got LSU minus two and a half the game I kind of think if I had to pick another one and it's just maybe I'm not saying it's gonna happen but I'm not saying I wouldn't be shocked either South Carolina it's at South Carolina you know that's that's a good point and I think I brought that up uh not too long ago on maybe it was our Tennessee one or or something South Carolina every year seems to pull some upset out of their butts whether it was Tennessee in 2022 or some other sh game with the Shane Beamer has even going back to the Sten Garcia game the big guy what's his name from South Carolina um sellers is his last name yeah yeah uh why is it Lamonte or something like that um but they're very high on him um and uh I I I watch out for South Carolina that is in South Carolina who knows who knows well let me ask you what is [Music] your if you are the athletic director of om Miss what is your expectation for om miss this year I think compete for an SEC Championship I think you absolutely can do that and that should be your expectation going forward this year just due to uh the schedule that you have the team that you have and the culture that you've set in place I think if you can't go nine and three at least with this schedule you're failing but I think the expectation should be compete for an SEC Championship and make the playoffs I agree I I think playoff what if if they don't make the secd championship what seed will they be in the playoffs you think so well the winner well okay okay so the winner of the SEC Championship will get automatic the automatic bid so they'll be one two three or four then the losers should also get in I don't think you should punish the loser of a conference Championship Game especially the so they'll likely get that you know five six or seven spot so I imagine if Miss is third or fourth in the SEC I can see them anywhere from you know like seven down to 12 anywhere around around there likely probably in the 9 or 10 range um but I I definitely think you have to make the playoffs this year going forward and I don't think you have to win them I really don't I think I think Old Miss fans will be perfectly fine with saying hey we made the playoffs hey we we lost in the first round we lost in the second round but we can forever say we made the playoffs we got to see a home playoff game I think they'll be perfect perfectly fine with that I agree I agree and they just need to get in because I mean I do think they can make some moves they just need to get in the thing but well guys I think I think that's it I think that does greatest El Miss player of all time I'm channeling my inner Al Miss fan give me what were those two twins names that they thought they were going to be oh I forgot about that you know who who also you could throw in there Robert kimichi I wanted him so bad in Alabama that's the TN the kichi yeah yeah yeah the kichi twin Robert was the was the big one and then his brother uh but guys that does it
