from the xports network this is the unaa report presented by first class Charter here at the Liberty Bowl where North Alabama took on Memphis right here last night the lions were looking to make some progress here in week one of the 2024 season but the Tigers in the end Pro too much here are the highlights second alltime meeting here between the Lions and the Tigers here in the first quarter first possession here for Memphis Mario Anderson Jr going muscle his way in from four yds out the extra point is good as the Tigers lead at seven to nothing anding possession here for North Alabama aru it's picked off here by Matt Hudson moving ahead now to the second quarter it's Seth Hanigan rolling out to his right he's going to find Anthony lampir here for the two-y touchdown connection as Memphis now leads 14 to nothing and suing possession here for North Alabama Patu feeling the pressure rolls out to his right and gets picked off here by Davon Ross ensuing possession here for the Tigers hening it going to find an open Brendan Doyle he makes the catch breaks a tackle and does a r breaks it in from 32 yds out to make it 21 to zero Tigers after another lion turnover it's Anderson Jr again punching it in from two yards out Memphis would lead 31 to nothing at the half and go on the win 40 to zero I mean they're a really good team they're they're projected to being the the playoff for a reason um but I I was proud of our defense for coming out the way they played that second half um can show that we we can play with some of the better teams in the country we just got to clean up the offense one thing the Lions have struggled with in the first two games have been turnovers it killed him in the FCS kickoff in Montgomery and it did once again here in Memphis on Saturday night you'd like to see us come out and and perform a little better you know offensively we got to find a rhythm um I thought we had times this game where we were moving the ball um we we shot ourselves in the foot uh turnovers have killed us these first two games we got to find a way to um to take care of the football one of the bright spots though was the defensive play despite the 40 points given up Lions only gave up 367 yards tot the offense including just 59 on the ground here to Memphis I would say you know I like the way the defense played I me as a linebacker I liked only giving up 60 yards rush and that made us you know as a linebacker room feel good obviously it's not fun to get beat 40 to nothing um you know we got to get something going somehow uh we got to keep working our butts off every day showing up to work going to meeting meeting as much as we can just learning about ourselves and learning how we can get better and that's just our main focus you know Lions will try to regroup as a head back home for their home opener next Saturday night as Illinois State comes to town from the xports network this is the unaa report presented by first class Charter [Applause]
