Doesn't stop a party, huh? Doesn't stop the party. But if you will be out enjoying southern decadence or anything during your Labor Day weekend, please bring an umbrella or a poncho or something. Or maybe you could just brave it because it is gonna be a soggy Labor Day weekend. It is a weather impact alert day. Now, for street flooding, it's possible we could see some more street flooding today. But so far the trends are looking good, our rainfall rates are starting to calm down. But so far this morning, we've seen street flooding in a few areas. It's been a soggy morning. We have a flood watch today until seven o'clock. This evening. The storms can produce anywhere from 2 to 4 inches of rain in less than an hour. So that is a lot of rain. Make sure you drive carefully. If you do get stuck in one of these downpours, you may have to deal with some big puddles and ponding on some of those pretty susceptible roadways. And for that reason, we do have neutral ground parking allowed until 10 o'clock tonight. So we could see some more nuisance street flooding in a few areas, especially across the metro area. We had a big flash flood warning for the New Orleans Metro that has now expired, but there could still be some puddles. Of course out there looking at radar trends. Now again, things are looking a lot better than they did earlier today. Rainfall rates have calmed down. Still looking at a few soaking showers though across the south and north shore, especially for plains perish, seeing this heavy downpour and it's still moving up to the north. So we'll see some scattered showers continuing for Bell Chase and the city of New Orleans, we continue to see some more rain later this afternoon or later into the early part of the afternoon. Right now, the metro area is seeing a dry break, but there's more rain to come up from the south North shore seeing some scattered showers as well. Kentwood seeing some heavy downpours dry breaks though for Washington Parish. However, Saint Tammany, seeing some heavy downpours from Covington to Mandeville also slidell seeing some heavy downpours moving through at this point, but they are moving by pretty quickly right now, some steady showers along I 10 and parts of Lake Gorne, New Orleans East. But there's that dry break for the city of New Orleans, but expecting some more rain getting into the next couple of hours coming up from the south. Here's that flood watch that's in effect until seven o'clock today for pretty much the entire area So it is gonna be a soggy Friday and a soggy weekend. The good news is with the clouds also, look at those ominous low clouds rolling in over the city, keeping those temperatures down. 77 degrees will take, that will be in the seventies. For the most part, maybe some low, mid eighties this afternoon, clouds will stick around. We'll have a few passing showers and storms and then for your Labor Day weekend, much of the same, we've got more wet weather tomorrow, Sunday and then Monday finally seeing some changes. So Monday should be a little drier for Labor Day itself to expecting temperatures in the mid to upper eighties tomorrow. And Sunday, maybe some of us only staying in the low eighties with the clouds and showers. So expecting more downpours tomorrow. And on Sunday plan for more rain for your holiday weekend, but Monday for Labor Day will heat up back to near 90 degrees with a little less rain in the forecast Monday and it's all associated with this area of disturbed weather in the Gulf of Mexico. It does not have a name. It's not being highlighted by the National Hurricane Center, but it is bringing us a lot of tropical moisture and tropical downpours and that will be trend into tomorrow. And Sunday, it's not until Monday, this pattern pulls away and changes. So a lot of rain for Texas and Louisiana, we're seeing that this morning and we'll continue to see it throughout the early part of the afternoon, but things should be kind of calming down by this evening. So by later afternoon, early evening, we could see a few more passing storms and tonight things calm down. So if you have any evening plans tonight, looking mostly dry tomorrow, though, we'll pick this up again, scattered storms across the area tomorrow morning into the afternoon, some heavy downpours possible tomorrow that could lead to some localized street flooding on Saturday and then will be like similar tomorrow night where things calm down during the evening and then we pick it up again, Sunday in the morning, scattered storms across the area into Sunday in the early part of the afternoon. But there will be dry breaks in between. It won't be raining the whole time. But our rain chances are high 80% today tomorrow and about 70 80% on Sunday. Then that drops down to 40% on Monday. So more rain chances expected next week, but still can't rule out a few storms heading into next week as well, but a little bit more respectable closer to average 40 50% next week. We'll take that. Our rainfall totals of course, can vary up quite a bit. Some of these storms can dump 2 to 4 inches in an hour but generally expecting about 3 to 5 plus inches of rain over the next few days on the South shore, especially closer to the coast. And then 2 to 4 plus inches on the north shore. But again, that can vary. Some of us, you only see an inch, others may see 34 inches now quickly out in the tropics. We are watching these two areas really far away in the Atlantic Basin. This will be a long term area to watch, especially for the lesser Antilles in the coming days. So we'll just be watching the Tropics vigilantly the first week of September, but too far out to know exactly how this is going to play out. So we'll be watching that closely. Overall. What you can expect is just some wet weather heading into your holiday weekend, keeping our temperatures down in the eighties with a little less rain by next week.
