last night we got to see the debuts of a couple of different players saquon Barkley Zack Bond but a rookie quinon Mitchell looked really good in his debut and what I wanted to do was deep dive into the film and show you exactly why I think quinan Mitchell could be the next big thing at the DB position for the Philadelphia Eagles the versatility the dynamic that he brings I am excited before we jump into the video comment down below a record prediction for the Eagles but more importantly if you want another one of these videos comment down below part three earlier today dropped a Zack Bon dive into the film all right here we go first play I wanted to show you guys we're going to see a lot of great communication here by a rookie you know a lot of guys come into the NFL and I went say they're nervous to communicate but maybe they don't know as much as a guy like CJ Garner Johnson or a guy like Darius Slay right avonte Maddox but he came in here had the confidence to just make some calls right tell CJ Garen Johnson all right come up in the Box you know you need to get up here Boom Read react attack and then come up here and make a nice little stop on the running back right the goal the G game plan here and we could tell from the jump was make Josh Jacobs struggle to get going early and force Jordan love this offense to pass the ball to some of these young targets and Romeo dos and Christian Watson Jaden Reed which they did look good but man they completed their goal at least in the first half stopping that run and forcing them to pass the ball I thought this was great communication here by quinon Mitchell and these are the things that you want to see in their debut in the NFL man again Reed react never overc commit to an angle right I mean he could have easily just went right in here and you know maybe got blocked but his patient comes around stutters and boom gets the tackle on the other side of the offensive lineman this is this is amazing right great job here by quinan great first play all right here's a play that doesn't go in the stat sheet but I thought he had some really good coverage here now we're basically just going to get a gold ball towards the bottom of your screen on quinon Mitchell uh just to the sideline now the first read for the quarterback here this is what you call a yes no read after this snap we want to see what this deep safety does if he comes down here and goes into a cover one Robber look we want this match up every single day as a quarterback right you got a rookie DB versus Christian Watson a bigger Target six foot whatever he is the dude's a big guy right we want to throw this ball in my head after the snap he circles yes in his brain and is going to throw this every single day of the week because it's a rookie and because it's oneon-one coverage Boom the defensive lineman wasn't in the right position he's late once that DB CJ Garner Johnson drops or into a hook curl or a midre that robber look Jordan Love's like I'm throwing this ball no matter what I I thought quinon Mitchell did such an amazing job here one keeping up hip to hip with Christian Watson but giving the man no space at all man I love this look at this right doesn't draw too much contact doesn't get in the the eyes of the officials good job looking back for the football as well let's go man this is what we need to see a lot of times you'll see the DB not even look back for the football and that's why the penalty will be called because they're not looking for the football he looks back incomplete love it let's go man look at this turns around knows what he's running now again this was a stop rope this was a comeback rope could have been a little bit different here but man great job by quinan Mitchell and then realized hey talk your man look at actually we kind of see Reed Blake be like hey go go talk to him go talk to him about it look at that that is actually kind of funny and then he's like okay yeah yeah all right jump back into the film all right here we go another big time play flip sides of the field the quinon still going to be on the left side but the opposite side for the camera angle really good job going to get some more pre- Stam motion to me this looks like full Zone coverage we're going to see a lot of these guys stare at the quarterback here uh they like to run this formation a ton just because they wanted to sell the run a lot look at this play Here by quinon great adjustment great play great recognition love to see it so basically what we're going to see is a typical cover three defense where you get Devonte Maddox dropping back into a flap you got a deep Zone here a deep Zone here right actually um I believe this man is going to be in a hook curl you got Darius Slay dropping back midre another hook curl over here that's pretty much what your defense is looking like here so typical Zone first thing we're going to notice is Luke Musgrave he's going to be running a route to the outside and they're going to try to get this man down the sideline just to draw out quinon Mitchell right if they're able to get quinon to attach to the hip to this guy and make a bad decision they'll get this wide open and right now I think quinon Mitchell does such a good job keeping his eyes on the quarterback a lot of guys will be like okay I got to go with this route let me just turn my hips and not get beat down the field but he keeps his eyes on the quarterback vonte Maddox does a really good job as well Ball's coming over here we need to adjust we need to get to this football and let's see how they do it right throw is not bad but quinon Mitchell and avonte Maddox do such a great job tipping that thing up in the air and um you know getting a little pbu love this play Here by quinon thought he did an amazing job in the zone keeping his eyes on the quarterback and making sure he can read where they want to go with the football at all times love it let's go man quinan looks good all right now this wouldn't be a real good video unless we talked about some of the bad things that happened during quinon now this wasn't a terrible thing I believe there were two penalties on this play one of them was on quinon Mitchell we're going to see a little bit of a stick route over the middle he's going to open up toward the sideline um and we're going to get just a really good pump fig now the reason being is we're going to get a fake stick and then a double move down the field really good defense by quinon just gets there too early right and the reason being we're going to see here and we'll break it down after we watch it there is one thing that quinon does here not great so once Jordan love drops back looks like a three-step plant which one when that back foot hits the ground ground you want to pump and then lead him down the field now that's exactly what quinan Mitchell does right he reads the quarterback and once he sees that little pump he thinks the ball is already coming he can't really see too much so he now at this point locks in I got to go make a play on the football boom makes contact thinks he already has the ball which in reality doesn't right now the DB move comes Jordan love throws it but look at the defense by quinon I I get it right he innerfield innerfield kind of held him as well but he's right there he doesn't get beat at least right once you draw that defensive pass interference it's kind of a free play threw it up there at least forced him not to be able to catch the football there um yes it was Defensive pass interference but sometimes it's going to happen I think he just overreacts to the hitch the pump fake I think it's a really good play uh by the by the offense here we can tell this is manto man coverage on CJ goes boom nice pump ah that sucks but you know what don't mind all right here's another play where quinon does get beat here we're going to have a great route here by Romeo dos he's going to fake like he's going to go on a on a post or a slant or um you know just a dig over the middle he's going to cut it to the outside completely turns around quinan Mitchell here now again you're a rookie right quinon Mitchell I think in a couple of years will be really good this is tough right here though this is just a great route I got to give credit to not only Jordan love for the anticipation but Romeo dos the route as well boom right look at that head swivel just beautiful beautiful execution here by the Green Bay Packers we're going to see him plant that foot boom right turn that head just for a second that completely turns around quinon Mitchell there gets about 12 yard pickup listen again you're a rookie I don't expect you to make every single play I don't that's just a tell this is most likely zone defense we're going to drop back keep our eyes on the quarterback going to get a speed out here uh by 83 or 13 D Tavon Wix here so again good rout this time doesn't get beat by it they said hey they probably went to the other said hey you quick move to the inside get back out you're going to be able to turn this guy around boom great anticipation throw but all honestly kind of behind him great adjustment by quinon Mitchell gets his hand in there for a pbu again if this was a better ball probably a completion here but quinon mitro already showed a little bit of adjustment not to overc commit too much to that false step to the inside I thought this was a good one by quinon Mitchell again if it was a better throw probably a completion just a little bit behind the receiver you're Jordan love that's got to be a little bit better but again quinan Mitchell makes a good play on the football gets his hand in there and makes it so much more difficult for the the wide receiver to make this catch love it come on quinon let's go I can see a big future for Mitchell man I really can go all right here we go one1 coverage here you got off soft coverage here by quinon Mitchell versus Christian Watson you also got one1 here you got one1 here one one to the top side then you got a Midfield close safety and probably a robber I would assume um for the defense so since we're in off coverage second and 11 we probably want to get this ball out really early so boom quick low hitro ball is out pretty early probably even want out a little bit earlier quinon Mitchell does make a really good tackle here in open space again this is kind of what the defense allows you to do where we're saying hey if you pass it short we'll give it to you all day that's kind of what this is doing so I wouldn't even say this is quon's fault I think he he uh reacts pretty quickly here makes a good tackle I can't I can't fault Quon Mitchell for this at all maybe you want to step up but again if you get be on a double move that's that changes the ball game so I think the off coverage here is smart and uh you know you force a third down for your defense to potentially uh get off the field so nice tack by quinan don't mind it all right here we go now this was the last play we'll show you this is such a tough play to really read especially if you're a deep corner here they're going to really try to attack him so defensively we just have a cover three we got a bunch of these guys coming back we get him coming up into a hook curl you got a flat over here now row concept wise we're going to see this tight endic come over here try to get into the flats we're going to see same thing here by uh jayen re is going to come over to the corner and then get up the field and then we're going to see Christian Watson kind of get up and in right trying to move quinan Mitchell with him and then getting behind avonte madx guys this was a beautifully drawn up play here by the Green Bay Packers on this last drive again right get this quick little out here we're going to get a deeper similar route here for Jaden Reed but he's going to cut up the field once quinon Mitchell kind of attaches to Christian Watson he's going to go to the middle of the field kind of getting him away from this side right really good execution here you get this avonte Max to bite up on this route thinking he has a safety behind him or or you know a guy behind him just such a great play here we need CJ Garner Johnson to really overcommit here and tell him to get back over on this side but again boom we're going to see qu quinon actually look back for the quarterback and boom once he realizes that's such a quick adjustment almost gets there in time to make a play um gets a big hit but unfortunately does stay in bounds here just a great executed play for the Green Bay Packers offense man you got to give him some credit because that was insane quinon I thought made a really good adjustment right looking back at the quarterback the entire time getting back into the play man I honestly thought it was a good one for for quinon with all things said and done I thought he he dealt with it pretty well that could have been a huge touchdown play um just a really good job R the quarterback's eyes man and let me know what you guys think thing now we're going to end the video
