hey I'm Dylan Bell the new Cross Country Coach here at Post University I'm a bethl native I graduated from there in 2017 then went on to my undergrad and graduate studies at hotton University over in Western New York uh where I'll graduate with my MBA this spring and I've spent the last two years at hotton University as a grad assistant for the cross country and indoor and outdoor track programs and what I'm looking forward to most here at Post University is building a team up into a conference Contender what I'm looking forward to most in coaching is kind of starting this team from the ground up and introducing that team culture that develops kids from where they were at their previous school to new levels as athletes and as people my coaching philosophy is built heavily on development and sustainable um growth in mileage and in intensity um I found in my years as a runner myself and in the last two years of coaching is that mileage makes Champions but um there's a balance to the intensity and the nuances of hard workouts and when to race and when to kind of peak your athletes so as a coach I want to meet kids where they are at physically and emotionally and kind of mature maturity wise so building a team culture where we can all depend on each other and we all have that love and looking out for each other um both off the practice scene but then once we come to practice we're able to kind of focus on task at hand whether that's just going easy on an easy day or hitting the prescribed Paces in a workouts that we're ready become Rees day pump-up song for a run I think you can't go wrong with a lot of alternative or even uh Happy music rap something with a high BPM uh in the summer I'll find myself running to a lot of Taylor Swift world famous runner could have beaten a mile I think Usain Bolt because he's been retired for a couple years and he doesn't notoriously go over 400 met I think in terms of recruiting here at Post University I'll be looking to add a wide breath of experience and current talent and people with a lot of potential and the ability to work at developing over the course of their time here in terms of times I'd be looking for uh anyone that's run kind of on the local courses knows that you can run like a 19 flat 5K and still have potential to grow into what's eventually a very successful Collegiate Runner so I'll take anyone that's kind of willing to work on mileage get their mileage up and work hard for the next couple of years uh I'd love to get some well-rounded 17 minute 5 kers all the way up to 19 1930 on the men's side as for the women's side we'd love to kind of add a wide range of Runners again from maybe the 19 minute Range High 18s all the way up to maybe the 23s 24s and just kind of decide how much mileage they've been doing um where we can get them for their freshman year and build up off of that so my immediate goal for this coming fall is to field a full team of Runners that's at least five in each gender I'm confident we can get five S8 if we get the right conversations going uh there is scholarship money available so I'd love to talk with people about what their expectations are what the school fit they're looking for is regarding location size uh cross country program Etc but my goal is to get an established team for this fall what that looks like in terms of times we'll have to find out and we'll see who's signed up come summertime but um my goal for both sides is to establish a team that will compete at conferences this fall in terms of long-term goals I'd love to build a lasting program that is uh healthy and roster size from like 15 to 20 kids on each side um to then also competing for conference championships in the fall developing in the offseason with like a healthy mix of freshman to seniors that can kind of push each other to grow over the summer and into the Fall Again
