slim otherwise and it's been a while since we've gone back to the WNBA they didn't disappoint us the last time with uh the fever getting a surprising win over the Mercury and so we thought hey let's give the let's give him another shot and now it's Angel Rees versus Caitlyn Clark again Chicago Sky versus the Indiana Fever tonight on another stupid Sports show I'm Jim B here on 1069 click FM hello to everybody who is here a little bit early I hope the week has treated you well and you are ready for the extended weekend over here in America it is Labor Day and although we have weakened our Union severely over the years we like to still you know pretend that we're uh focused on supporting workers but that's a that's a topic for a separate show I think we I think we move on to the important thing which is I knew I was going to have some [ __ ] to talk about this week what with uh well the NFL allowing private Equity to enter the conversation I'm I'm I will officially get the the ass talk thing on Bob up so that we know what we're in for we're just going to hang out for about a couple for about 15 odd minutes before the game starts they're currently doing the pre-show pre-show over on the ion Network which is where it is over here in the States but meanwhile game two of the double header between the Brewers and the Reds Brewers won 54 in 10 Innings currently tied at zeros in game two best of luck we're going to be checking them out tomorrow looking forward to that myself if only to get a good look on what to expect from the Brewers when the Major League Baseball postseason finally arrives and oh oh looking looking through that that postseason I was uh I was uh absolutely absolutely caught off guard but hey you know I am impressed by the fact that the Diamondbacks are trying to be for real and the Padre's are again but you know don't let her hear about that um Kansas City I think I'm going to have to jump on the Kansas City bandwagon for what when it comes to the playoffs just because like I've said every once in a while the Royals pop up and just punch the rest of the league right in the face and then the team gets sold off for parts and we never hear from them again I do apologize Logan if this happens be the year that the Brewers get to the World Series but if they go against the Royals I'm going to have to cheer against you I help you understand and it's nothing personal it's just it's just the situation really I wonder how many people in Chicago are taking care of those taking advantage of those dollar tickets for the white socks games hopefully it's not too many I mean we've already destroyed enough third places that people will go to coffee shops libraries well we haven't all destroy the libraries we're working on that bit by bit but I could see people accidentally being subjected to that just for something to do and well if I cared more about it at the moment maybe I would put out some kind of PSA but no people make their own decisions forget it where was the other news I wanted to find other things to talk about just because I didn't want to be yammering about the awful news of today but uh I did see that uh one of the another guy from the Indiana Pacers got paid a guy guard named TJ McConnell uh 4year 45 million contract just so yall know it's pretty much a $2 million pay raise from what he was getting paid before and considering you know bench player who ended up averaging 10 points game during the playoffs I think I'm okay with it I'd just like to see him uh continue with that the only thing that kind of got me a little I will just hey what's the word I'm looking for what's the word I'm looking for um concerned is that the guy's 32 but I'm not sure if his style of play is something he has grown into or something that has been holding on to if he's more of a physically aggressive player or what so this season is just going to be a uh watch and learn as far as Mr TJ McConnell goes so hey good for him for getting his money it doesn't look like it sound like it's going to ding the team too badly let's just hope it will be worth it and of course congratulations to Los Angeles Chargers player Cameron Dicker Dicker the kicker got himself a four-year contract $22 million 12.5 million of it is guaranteed so maybe they don't have to worry about field goals anymore it would be nice if that was the case for the Los Angeles Chargers but yeah they also had to they had to sign T Taylor hinei this week they gave the Falcons a sixth round pick for him because apparently the backup QB that they had planned to use a guy named Easton stick fell apart in the preseason a little bit and was not really showing the promise that he gave last season season when he was filling in for Justin Herbert and also hopefully Justin Herbert will be 100% to go but now we're not quite there yet we have to wait for the stupidity of the NBA season to get in and oh no they have moved on theyve moved on to other sports and other and other athletes for state for him besides Aaron Rogers I guess that's comforting to see um I did find something uh pretty interesting and it was this was a story that came out a couple days ago I'm not sure too many people uh may have noticed it but you know there's the whole thing about you know the uh Diamond Sports Group you know they distributed under the Bley name they've been in bankruptcy proceedings and so a whole bunch of rights are up in the air and well the Anaheim Ducks are going to be uh showing uh 65 games on an over theair channel in Los Angeles specifically Fox 11 plus kcop Channel 13 and now they're also going to be on a uh some sort of streaming service called Victory for regional coverage that will be uh free but ad supported whatever whatever but it was the over theair channel that really caught my eye I didn't think we after years of of seeing the rights battles just go up and up and up and you know cash upon cash get thrown at different networks for every League I mean I was alive when the surprise announcement came that the fo that fox was going to take away the uh NFL broadcast from NBC and here we are 20 years later and now every single major broadcast network has their own football thing and it's not a big deal anymore but I just can't wait until more Niche sports like hockey are more easily available like this I don't know how long that'll take but uh well let's hope soon let's hope very soon and yeah this will probably fill up the last five minutes before the game is going to get started and it's just going to be me getting it out of my head um I am positive that all of you had heard at some point today about what happened happened to Johnny and Matthew gdo the details are all out there they're really [ __ ] depressing um driver that essentially ran them over in attempt to pass another car on a County highway is being charged with uh a few things involving open container so if you want to know how bad this is and had already F had five or six beers beforehand yeah that's as far as I will go um and as I thought about it more it even goes beyond basic bike safety which when I was taught driving the the priority of protection that you're supposed to give to other people who are sharing the road with you which includes pedestrians and bicycles pedestrians you give the most protection to see him at a crosswalk you stop no matter what bicycles you know you give them space you slow down if they decide to participate as a car you yield you just keep an eye out and make sure you know what they are about to do because a lot of cyclists Unfortunately they don't signal they don't make it clear what their intentions are on the road I know that's rough but also just like motorcyclists they are out there essentially unguarded by the welded frame that all of the car drivers have and so when even when I am driving down the streets of the very small downtown area um I get nervous because I know how motorcycle heavy this particular area is and after I got doored riding my bicycle downtown in this area I realized around me that just not a lot of people were looking and how many people around here really Drive Dangerously so no it surprises me none not it does not surprise me at all what happened to Johnny and Matthew goodro because something like that is inevitable I hear complaints from people who still love live in Chicago about how the outer parts of the city which were built more geared toward cars cuz that's when they really started getting built up of how aggressive cars are getting towards cyclists over in that part of the city and Chicago has so many bike paths already it's a pretty damn bike friendly City but the further out you go the more the pych more the cyclists have to literally fight for their lives among the drivers and I know it's not kind to wish horrid things on a person but I hope that driver doesn't have a good night's rest for the rest of his life I really hope he doesn't I would be completely fine if he felt like if he he was living with the consequences of his actions every day because his own mind wouldn't let them go that's what I hope for this driver because that seems like the best punishment that I could wish upon him and also for the rest of you if you are on the road watch out for the cyclists be they pedal or motor variety they will very much appreciate it all right I think I've gotten all of the talking that I have wanted to get out of my face so yeah let's move it back to the game screen we've got two minutes until tip off trust Arena let me I'm having trouble remembering where that is actually in Chicago I never went by there I know the United Center had to go there many of times when I was driving but okay home court of the men's and women's basketball teams for toal University serves as an event center for McCormack's place that's a convention place that's over on the south side of the sh the city it's right near Soldier Field if in case y'all were wondering but don't worry it's not just going to be the game we wouldn't just leave you hanging for that no we are going to have Bingo as well that's right link is things going Clark will simply hand it off to Aaliyah Boston and just as quickly Kelsey Mitchell drains it too all right card number 25 gotcha meanwhile with Lindsey Allen will drive the boards and even things up and a fantastic pass inside to Alissa Smith puts the fever back up again they are not they are not slow they are not slowing down for anything here at the start of the game and a good feed inside is patient enough to wait for the Defenders to just leap over her easy bucket for Camila cardoso all right Clark being defended well will pull up and it's off the back of the iron Angel Reese nearly steps out of bound she overcommits be taken away they throw it back for Clark who immediately gets a defender in her face will throw it under for Nelissa who draws the foul on the shot o and I think yeah Indiana had the had the first possession so possession arrow should be with Chicago cool taking their time with that foul shot set up and a first one for Nelissa Smith is off the back of the iron some polite Applause from the crowd she does switch the second one and a foul gets called on Alysa Smith that time as she was guarding Angel Reese wasn't quite sure what she did underneath the basket but it was only a floor foul not worthy of a shot and a good fade away markof off balance if you have that on your card dang and then Clark of course what else is she going to do she's going to get a three and then we have another another whistle for activity away from the from the ball but not sure who it's on maybe it was on Caitlyn Clark must have been because Chicago's got themselves another Thro in on the far sideline again all right great move in to cardoso but unfortunately Indiana just threw it out of bounds again in an effort to try to get it unfortunately Aaliyah Boston couldn't bring that ball under her hand a fresh 14 to work with and get underneath not the best but the shot doesn't land cardoso gets the rebound throws it right back out and a three from Chicago puts them back on top Lindsay Allen with the three for the Chicago sky from Hull around to Smith who gets it batted away they thought it was going to be a foul I think they might have held up try to trap him back then they'll throw it up for another three-pointer and Lindsay Allen again all right now was going to say you know Chicago isn't having the best season they have a worse record currently than the fever who just crawled their way back up to 500 but right now Chicago carving themselves an advantage from the Baseline swish again that's Lindsay Allen again now Clark will try to drive in she'll find resistance she'll she just throw it off to her friend Aaliyah Boston she'll make a couple attempts it won't happen and he'll be out on Boston wow a couple of Threes And then a baseline shot and everybody knew it too they called it from the crowd man I have called shot on here don't I yeah oh my god did they do it again holy crap they got another three again as M onion wary all right Clark again looking for room finds the path blocked by cardosa and Company she she back up and take the three doesn't want won't get any love for that contact so they're just throwing it around the perimeter then finally attack the inside Alissa Smith drives it down ends up in Clark's hands Boston game physical and who is it called on oh damn it was called on Chicago it's going to be either car cardo re underneath I'm not sure who which one is going to get dinged for it but now that is the second foul for Chicago in this first quarter all right Le Leah Boston first one from the line no problem oh yeah we could definitely check check off calling the shot second one off the rim and out to the near side gathered up by Angel Reese Lindsey Allen will take it up the court she'll break to she'll break inside again loser Defender briefly cardosa will try to stretch the court by threatening inside the paint and a great pass underneath Tes wow great start for Chicago they currently have a ninepoint sorry 10-point lead on the Indiana Fever and unfortunately Nissa Smith had all the room to make that three did not fall and another two from Michaela and I think we have a top time out from the fever yep and the crowd is loving it here at windust hot start for the Chicago Sky we'll see if the fever can turn things around when the next break comes back we're current we're currently at 4:38 to go there we go that's just fine while we have our requisite slate of commercials we'll go over to the baseball scores see what disappointment awaits us over there okay Red Sox beating up the tigers Three to nothing in the top of the fifth Red Sox I think are still trying to find their way into the wild card race in in the American League Braves are annoying the Phillies four nothing top of the fourth that game Brewers have scored now and it's one- nothing over the Reds bottom of the fourth for them Cubs are leading the Nationals 7 to3 at the end of the third meanwhile Padres are beating the Devil Ray silly 7even to2 in the bottom of the second and well the Guardians are trying to remind themselves that they're first place for the reason two nothing over the Pirates top of the third and I was hoping for an easy weekend I wouldn't have to wouldn't have to worry about awful news but it just keeps on happening also uh bit of a blow for the Kansas City Chiefs uh Hollywood Browns not going to be playing this week because he dislocated his shoulder on the first play of the preseason and oh yeah I got to imagine that's a at least a few weeks of uh nothing doing until you can get back to normal I've been fortunate I've never dislocated a shoulder myself I've known people who have and yeah even though it's a simple fix it's it's rough recovery oh and Shaquille O'Neal is in the crowd do we have any former player things on the list I don't think I added them just because I was unsure that I'd recognize any of them but yeah Shaq is just there and he's talking up angel Reese of all people okay all right this will be an inbound to Caitlyn Clark and she will charge in for the hard-earned bucket so Chicago responds with a three-pointer of course and meantime Indiana gets the bucket and the foul oh no Caitlyn's getting into it with the referee oh no oh no she wasn't even the one who got fou fouled on that play that was Kelsey Mitchell and she completed the three-point play by the way so though and what do you mean I didn't have three-point play oh there's three-point play had a little bit of trouble finding it meanwhile cardoso gets another rebound off the shot at the Baseline they had to work it around to find room again Unfortunately they gave a little too much room not only for three-pointer but the rebound that follows and fever are having trouble recovering all the boards until they until this guy just plain missed the three-point attempt out of bounds wow and also I have no idea who 24 is because there's nobody nobody listed by that number on the Chicago Skies roster Good Times inside to Aaliyah Brown she'll throw it back out to milel and she'll get the try off balance and everything wow so yeah mark off that off balance three on your card meanwhile we'll get a foul on the rebounds and they'll be on aiyah Boston for supposedly knocking knocking over over Lindsay Allen from the sky I didn't quite see it from my angle but L dah oh yeah I know Kelsey michell's trying to make sure that there's no blood coming out otherwise she has to go out and get that treated oh they it's a f on Alysa Smith why are there why one two three four five okay all right they made another one well actually they made both their foul shots back to a nine-point lead for the sky guy nice post up by Mitchell unfortunately she cannot stick The Landing off the iron again and up comes the sky kosa will throw it back out to who is that again Lindsay Allen unfortunately the shields can't get the shot to roll to roll in from the Baseline here comes the fever again pass deflected from Clark Boston is able to grab it Hull gets a little bit of a shield and she will drain the three all right look at that we get a little bit of a fall down by Lindsey Hall they give unfortunately more room than they should to that three-pointer but it's off the front of the rim we're about 8 seconds behind on time 152 to go in the first quarter open Lane but unfortunately Miss handled they got eight seconds left Mitchell good effort but not high enough cardosa with a rebound Allen driving it up the court threatens it smacked away Clark will get the steal and she'll throw it up I think yeah I thought that was traveling myself okay wow I am amazed that was not traveling yeah well I shocked so they gave him the bucket and we got three-point play oh mki you shown up just in time Indiana's pulled back after an early lead nearly got another steal there and they're getting a little bit more bold about trying to swat the SWAT the ball away Clark out to guard again running out of time and it's a 24 second violation ah oh well they'll have to take it off the sideline what a shame Chicago is up to four fouls they have not reached the bonus I don't think oh yeah I already I already went on my little little ramble earlier mki it's very sad and oh my goodness did she get it again oh no she stepped out of bounds a few inches from Glory damn so instead of down by one is a turnover all right eight seconds left to Shields being guarded by Hall they'll try to get inside cardosa was being guarded by Boston that shot way off Target Clark will nearly got it stolen again but a great feed up the court for Erica wheeler to get the bucket oh they also got some AJ perine good for him and bayy zappy very clearly a block but it went out of bounds hopefully he will do well enough that it will feel Justified and it will be a complete disappointment for dolphins fans whatever counts for that these days all right meanwhile still one nothing been a pretty fun and competitive game between the sky and the fever I'm not sure who's doing the best at the moment but they are also not really giving us the there's the box score okay all right so far over on the Indiana Fever side of course Caitlyn Clark has gotten to 11 points already well she also has six assists so I think she's a pretty good candidate for getting to the double double first meanwhile uh not so much the case for Kelsey Mitchell she's got 10 points I'm sorry 12 they this must be ahead of me but nothing else to speak of meanwhile onion wary is up to 12 points but only one rebound Lindsay Allen got her 12 points from those very helpful shots four assists three rebounds for her and Mitchell will try her own contested shot I believe that to two yep there we go and I will shut that off so I don't get spoiled any further all right that's Isabel Harrison and Allen has to dribble it around they have to try everything but unfortunately they were able to get the rebound unfortunately the pass is too far for Clark who is trying to get it on the fast break damn they give it away all right now Melissa trying to contain things at the line and as the shield she'll try to get a quick setup for the three and a great grab by Nelissa Smith for the rebound Erica wheeler couldn't lose her Defender goes around to Smith to Mitchell great job ahead try to set up the open three down low grabs her own rebound does Erica wheeler Mitchell will follow up with one that counts and I think we've got another time out out coming yeah and that's the kind of rebounding that's uh really 20 to nothing forgive me meanwhile League one transfer just closed yeah I thought you know I thought I had seen a number of uh a number of notices about uh players team hopping and going around going over Elon no not that one three to nothing and oh here's the game that I'm sure Logan is excited for the first game of the season for Wisconsin against Western Michigan opener at the mad house that doesn't start until 8:00 pm but a transfer free Rec transfer free record got broken wow safety and touchdown not three field goals oh okay meanwhile great job ripping the ball Away by Lindsay Allen unfortunately the layup can't land and Nelissa Smith will end up grabbing it wheeler will wait take her time as Mitchell gets some space she'll get the is that another three oh wow three for four rebound will throw it to Clark gets bounced off of cardoso's foot a risky pass attempted off across the court meanwhile it'll get thrown back out banon to cardosa and it'll get bouted out of bals by down to try to make the rest of the team get on their get on their action that pass knocked down that one as well she'll throw it back out and give it to Wheeler unfortunately her three is in and out occurrence of see what they did but we got them both from Caitlyn just in that moment so yeah she got one all right Lindsay Allen from the line and damn Chicago has reached the bonus here in the first half so if you have home team gets the bonus in the first half mark that off on your card as well so here we are Clark being covered fairly closely she'll throw it into Boston who's trying to find room around cardosa Lissa goes up for the foul for the rebound and they can't get it off in time for the shot but at the very least they St either at the end of the the crowd and oh no did she just
