NFL LIVE | Adam Schefter rips how Brandon Aiyuk, Trent Williams' handling 49ers contract standoffs

welcome to NFL live it is roster cutdown deadline time teams are now down to 53 man rosters basically right now the defending champs making moves today in the wide receiver room what more can you add Adam schfer well L the most interesting one was that the Kansas City Chiefs released Kadarius Tony who made some huge plays for them in both ways the past couple of Seasons since they acquired him we saw Tony involved in key touchdown play in the Super Bowl made decisive plays but also had some key drops also had some missed assignments also made some mistakes and today the Chiefs moved on from Kadarius Tony officially waving him from their roster however micle Hardman who might have been on the bubble as well did make the team at least he made the initial 53 man roster so the Chiefs have opted to keep micle Harman who also has made some big plays for this team team leans on his speed and that speed will be available to Kansas City this season and part of the reason they made some of these moves is because the team did add Juju Smith Schuster the former wide receiver who's played there in the past he still doesn't know whether he'll be ready to play a week from Thursday in Kansas City's week one opener against the Baltimore Ravens he said today it's two early to tell whether he'll be ready but he's certainly going to give it an effort to be back out there and if he can't play week one they he'd have 10 more days to rest up but juu Smith Schuster will be on the roster and micle Hardman will be on the roster and cadarius Tony will not yeah a lot to still figure out we're now just nine days away from kickoff Chiefs and Ravens is how it all starts out can't wait for that lots of moves being made we're so glad that you're with us today we are working on getting Booger specifically Hawk what do you make of it all yeah they're trying to get stability I mean that's the big thing for the Kansas City City Chiefs I mean they're going with players that they have known to be consistent for a guy like Patrick Mahomes now look cadarius Tony has helped them win Super Bowls that is a fact but we saw that the inconsistency from a year ago really put a lot of question marks around the offense and for them this year they're going with the guys like Juju Smith Schuster mle Hardman obviously there's a lot of questions around rashed rice and what that suspension if at all will look like but for Patrick Mahomes he needs to know what he's dealing with going into the season so on a week in week out basis they have something to base their pass game on for Patrick Mahomes yeah we'll H continue to talk about the Chiefs as we get closer to actually kicking off this season let's get some more top stories though with Adam let's go to San Francisco we continue to follow the story with Brandon iuk what is the latest there Adam well it has not reached its k inclusion yet Laura the 49ers continue to sift through options for Brandon auk obviously the two sides have been unable to come to any sort of agreement on his value clearly the Niners have a certain number in mind Brandon auk has another number in mind and they've had trade discussions but none of those have materialized and no trade right now seems close to happening at this point in time meanwhile they also wait on hold out offensive tackle Trent Williams who's determined to get his contract reworked restructured revised and he does not intend to show up to the team until he gets the raise that he believes he deserves and so he is not on their 53 men roster because they placed him on the reserve did not report list but now they are 13 days away from their season opening game we'll see if they can figure out something yeah look at the numbers right there Trent Williams 35 years old last year but that didn't stop him from being the most dominant tackle in the NFL he let all tackles in pass block win rate and he allowed just just one sack one sack that was tied for the fewest in the league Hawk how big of a deal is it that Williams is currently not on the 49ers roster I mean it's a huge deal that's your security blanket one of the pieces of your security blanket for Brock pie you want to keep him upright this whole offense obviously is predicated on Brock P continuing the level of play that he has over the last two seasons Trent Williams is a big part of that whether in the past game or the Run game he is the enforcer he is the team leader he also is a big reason why why this team will feel so confident about continuing to make that push for winning the Super Bowl because he sitting there in that locker room yeah let's go to the other big story that Adam was just referencing waiting for a deal still Brandon auk and everything going on in San Francisco makes you think Hawk that we need to consider how the offense would look if he's not out there week one in your mind what does it look like without auk yeah I I mean it's it's a different offense Brock P's development has been en large part because of Brandon iuk down the field we saw what this offense did when Debo was hurt right and it started to evolve a bit and and Brandon iuk was a big part of that he gives them that weapon down the field he gives them that flare control on both sides of the field whether Debo's there or not and for that vertical pass we may have lost Hawk there Adam so I'm going to ask if you have anything more to add here on the 49ers go ahead well Laura I think they're in a situation where we're getting close to where they need to get resolution because this is the week we saw the Dallas Cowboys already make a move with CD lamb and they felt like the timing had to be right now and I think the 49ers are in a similar spot right now with 13 days to that regular season opener against the New York Jets they know how important Trent Williams is to this offense they know the value of Brandon iuk and yet these two particular situations have lingered on throughout the summer this is always the time where teams and players with situ situations like this make a move to get something done but the two sides have been unable to get anything done and right now today and these things can change awfully quick but right now today it doesn't look like they're close to a resolution at least they weren't as of last night now anything could change at any moment but again this one just continues to linger out there with no end in sight right now such a great thing to have you with us all show along Adam and more news flying around to today what other their notable roster moves are going on let's start in La well Laura the Los Angeles frams traded a team captain their linebacker somebody who had accumulated an awful lot of tackles they had been at odds over whether or not to get a new contract for Ernest Jones and so today they essentially trade him to Tennessee in an exchange of late round picks they don't get very much for him that's partly because of the contract but it's a situation where there were a ton of moves to today we saw players cut we saw players left on the physically unable to perform List look at some of the more notable releases today Bailey zappy Desmond Ritter Nate subeld CJ be terce Marshall Jr and players left un pop meaning that they are ineligible to play for the first four games of this season TJ hackinson Tyler higgy Jonathan Brooks the rookie running back from Texas Kendrick Bourne in New England and Odell Beckham Jr these players now will miss the first four Gam games of the Season at least I think all of them are expected back this season but again this is not a big surprise on most of these players and I think all these teams are looking forward to getting those players back in time by the way Laura you know booger we
