visit Guth chick.com [Music] [Music] welcome back courtside at colan Coliseum the Alabama Crimson Tide taking on the Auburn Tigers so glad to have you with us for this matchup an important one obviously in Southeastern Conference play as Bama and the sixth ranked Tigers score off for the first of their two meetings on the year the second one will take place down on the plains in just few weeks it'll be February 7th when Alabama and Auburn meet down at Auburn Neville Arena my apologies the uh the home of the Tigers in that matchup time for us to take a look at some of the uh quick game facts actually we'll do those later right now we will will take a look as I remember the format I'm brand new to all of this the little things how about that the little things are what the ti needs to do in this one to be successful in addition to reading of the four things are presented by Chick-fil-A Bri passing we hope Bama does little things better that I did the read for that just moments ago dead of turning your mic on listen I was too busy laughing at Chris to turn your mic off sorry listen I if the guys in crimson and white score more than the guys in orange and blue it doesn't matter what we sound like but as long as we're all format I met roll willly night and I just met Nick Dunlap who's sitting to our right yes he is PGA Tour winner oh that's awesome so all the all the Legends here in tuscala at Coleman Coliseum But to answer your questions or question what does Alabama need to do what are the little things looking at the offensive end obviously it starts with ball security Alabama coming off a performance against Tennessee where the tide turned it over 22 times can't afford anywhere near that number this Auburn team really good defensively and that's the strength of them is creating turnovers Alabama's got to be secure with the ball but besides that I I think if Alabama guards are getting in the lane against Auburn it should be a good night offensively for Alabama I thought a big reason for so many turnovers against Tennessee is they guarded the ball so well Alabama perimeter players get downhill in the lane creating for themselves and teammates Bama just four for 21 from the three-point line but all threes are not creating equal Alabama did not get high quality looks and it was because Tennessee did such a great job on the ball Alabama got out of their Rhythm on the offensive end so taking care of the basketball but also paint touches so important for Alabama offensively game day at home with Chick-fil-A just Tor her head through the Chick-fil-A app and score before the game even starts eat more chicken and roll tied when we come back we'll be taking a look at our keys to Victory and the starting lineups here on the Crimson Tide always a win with the F-150 proud sponsor of the Alabama Crimson tie Brian passing you played in this rivalry before what are the keys for Alabama to get a victory in this ball game well the defensive then it starts with Janai broom I think Mark Sears dton connect and maybe janii broom are the three Front Runners right now for SEC player of the year he can score inside and out he's a really good Defender but Alabama's interior players starting with Nick Pringle have to stay out of foul trouble Muhammad wagi looks to be a little more healthy but both of those guys when they played guys that can score on the inside have had a tendency to get in foul trouble so important to defend the rim also jayen Williams might be one of the most underrated players not just in the SEC but in college basketball he's having a first team all SEC caliber year at the power forward position so Alabama offensively the guards need to get in the game get in the lane on the offensive end defensively you got to defend everybody because Auburn absolutely has Firepower on the perimeter but it starts with Janai brim and Jaylen Williams for the Tigers the starting lineups are presented by W on Sports beastro for Alabama Mark Sears Latrell right getting the start along with Aaron Estrada Grant Nelson and Nick Pringle for alurn Aiden Holloway Denver Jones Jaylen Williams Janai broom and Chris Moore assistant coaches are Ira Bowman Cory Williams Chad puit and Mike B Master the associate head coach is Steven Pearl and the Tigers head coach is Bruce Pearl B they have dropped the lights here at Coleman Coliseum Brian passic we're going to hear the Bama starters we will uh not give away the secret because I actually read that earlier but Latrell ritel getting the start for the Crimson Tide your thoughts on the transfer from Cal State forson getting the opportunity well he's been really good and you Alabama has a deep back court the trail writel is essentially a starter coming in as a six-man Ryland Griffin's been really good to many turnovers against Tennessee but he had company in that area hopefully Ryland will be in and play well here tonight the trell scored a season I 19 twice this year January 13th at Mississippi State and also against a very good Liberty team back on December 30th made his first start on December 16th at craty at average the team High 16 points per game along with four rebounds and 2 and 1 half assists when he played last year at Cal State ports and that was in route to being a first team all Big West Conference selection I would be surprised if we don't see again a very talented Ryland Griffin very early in this one but it will be Latrell Ru will be introduced along with the other starters in just a matter of moments here before a sellout crowd at Coleman [Music] Coliseum now please Stand and Deliver a rolling time for Alabama starting five and forward a 611 seat from Devils Lake North Dakota number two Grant [Music] Nelson and forward a 610 senior from C Brook South Carolina number 23 Nick Pringles at guard a 63 senior from Omaha Nebraska number 12 lell rysel Jr half guard a 63 graduate from Woodbury New Jersey number 55 Aaron estron and at guard a 61 senior from muscle shs Alabama number one Mark Sears the assistant coaches are Austin clout Ryan Bon and Preston Murphy and Alabama's head coach is Nate oats ladies and gentlemen this is Alabama basketball Brian passic Alabama has struggled out of the gate of ball games this year you do that against this Alber team it's going to be a long night here at home yeah Alabama needs to to start off while get this crowd into the game it's already an electric atmosphere and has been since about an hour and a half prior to tip off the student section jam packed well over an hour before game time they have been into the pregame so let's get them into the game and Alabama hopefully will start well and give them a reason to cheer Alabama coming off off a season low four made threes four for 21 against Tennessee the volunteers defense had a lot to do with that Alabama guards need to get dribble penetration create some matchups where you get in help and recover situations Tennessee had no help in recover situations or very few in the matchup on Saturday so important for Alabama to get going early on the offensive end and get higher quality threes Alabama didn't shoot enough threes compared to what they typically do and they didn't get the quality of shot against Tennessee obviously way too many turnovers got to do a better job in both of those areas and just got word from the Alabama bench Ryland Griffin not starting no issue just a matchup situation he'll be in this game early looking forward to seeing Ryland and his teammates hopefully play their best game of the year against perhaps the toughest opponent in a season in which they have played a ton of tough opponents today and you look at these teams and obviously Alabama's record not nearly as good as Auburn's both teams have a similarity they don't have that big Marquee win this would be a marquee win for both teams the Apple watch just telling me that I'm in a loud envirment no kidding it'll be Nick Pringle who will jump for the Crimson Tide andai broom will handle that for alurn they're wearing the road Navy B with the home white Pat Adams our lead official puts the ball in the air and the cap is controlled after a couple of tips in the back court by the tigers where the lights that would help we're having some issues there and they haven't been turned up yet Auburn with the basketball driving down the lane kicking it to The Far Side broom steps into a three and knocks it down well Auburn didn't need him they did just fine with the lights below full capacity everybody recognizes it but they may be stuck and now the official will stop play and they realized H we don't exactly have them back up yet and we don't they're having an issue I say we start over with the lights on I would agree let's just let's just start the game over with again Janai broom only his 10th made three of the season a 27% three-point shooter knocks down the first one well unplug it and plug it back in again try that it always works at [Music] home so far not the best of starts we gave up a three to Auburn and we can't get the lights to work well couldn't have said it better myself part did not anticipate this wanted a quick start we thought we would actually be able to play the game and it's getting darker in here as they try to figure out what's going on with the lights the historic Coleman Coliseum struggling right now the uh the bag Gem's probably open how many can we funnel back there anyway we'll uh we'll tell you got close go ahead no good got close to 14,000 here at capacity little bit of a later ring crowd 6:30 start but great crowd energetic before the game and I thought they were going to stop it in that first possession but Janai broom gets the three to go down Alabama was averaging 13 made threes in SEC games before Saturday just four made against the Tennessee Volunteers Tennessee a team that does not shoot nearly or or make nearly the amount of Threes that Alabama does outshot Bama from the three-point line This Auburn team shoots a pretty good percentage from three but they don't shoot nearly the number they average eight M threes on the year Alabama 12 Obviously good start for Jan Brun we talked about SEC Player of the Year raced week or so ago I would have said Mark Sears and then Dalton connect maybe Janai broom third D connect has been on a tear he's probably leading the way but those three guys right now probably your three Front Runners for SEC player of the year we talked about in the pregame one of the keys for Alabama defensively is stopping Janai broom on the post now he gets going from three in that first possession he is a versatile player he he starts hitting the three ball going to be very difficult to defend you know I'm not glad that this has happened but you know I'm I'm fine with TV waiting on somebody else for a change we always have to wait on television so let's them let them tap dance and they're doing a pretty good job they're talking with Jaylen milro to our left for a few moments but I think we're going to play with the lights that we have look there's plenty of light to see to play it's just not ideal this is unbelievable pull up our cars yeah get a little more light in here it's uh P up our cell phones guys are going to shoot just to stay loose right now as what do you got Roger Hoover what are you hearing well right now the electricians are working on on the P that's been the latest from Alabama Athletics to our officials so again just trying to reset a few things should only be a couple of minutes according to what we're hearing here at the scores table yeah you look I don't know anything about how light grids work but I know that this is not a matter of just going to the wall and flipping one switch you got basically a light board and you've got some different things tied in so we'll see what uh ain't ain't be called the man for you Andy griffi Show fans that is that's what Paul always spits in the back and WS on it is what I started to go with from No Time for Sergeants but anyway for this one Babas just try to stay loose and look we had the initial uh we had the initial start Auburn did just FAL their initial attempt in lights that are halfway lit but they're going to get this thing fixed momentarily the Crimson Tide taking on the Tigers Alabama on Pace to score 2700 plus points during the regular season if they keep their current average that is 197 more than last year's record setting team that finished the season with over 2500 in Brian it's amazing to think that historically one year later from an offensive standpoint you could be better than they were a year ago well this is on track to be the best offense in Alabama basketball history now the area that they need to get better is defense now the area that they focused on on practice is on the off offensive end and that's taking care of the ball against a team in Auburn that leads the SEC in creating turnovers so that's been a issue in the last game and a little bit of an issue since SEC play started but Alabama offensively is so good so much fir power that's why in a game like Saturday where you turned it over 22 times uh that hurts you in so many different ways but it really hurts you because you don't have as many opportunities there was a point in the game or throughout most of the game where Tennessee had 20 more field goal attempts than Alabama did and was able to to cut that margin to about 15 at the end of the game but it was because of turnovers and offensive rebounds for the volunteers and those are both areas that alurn thrives in they create turnovers they get Second Chance opportunities and as you mentioned with Coach oats in the interview Alabama should be prepared for that because the two teams in the league maybe along with Mississippi state that do those things the best are Tennessee and the alurn Tigers Brian we talked about Mark Sears and what he's meant to this squad and look he's he's good all the time but he's at his best against the best he's averaging 21 A2 points per game against quad one opponents that's sixth best in the country he is Elite against the elite he has been so good this year and that was the over lining of Saturday is the health quickness explosiveness of Mark Sears coming off of that ankle injury before the Tennessee game we didn't know if he was going to play how effective he would be and I think moving forward so important for Alabama one thing that he and his teammates weren't able to do is get in the lane with downhill drives and and that's what natos preaches he wants paint touches on the offensive end whether that's from passing or the dribble Drive typically with this team it's come off dribble penetration from their guards drive kickouts force the defense to help and recover get in scramble situations and when you have the Firepower that Alabama does that usually votes very well for the Crimson Tide and the focus for Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers is to guard your man it sounds simple but keep your men in front and don't let them in the lane so that will be that could be where this game is one is which guards can get in the lane and create for themselves and teammates look nobody wants to see this happen where you got a delay for any reason let alone cuz the lights not taking full effect again after they had been uh dimmed for the introduction of the starters but in terms of getting one trip down the floor and then you get to go and loosen up again does that maybe give everybody a chance to be a little more calm and settled or I'm not not that you would design it this way but well listen we won't know until we see it it's it's a weird situation that probably nobody's ever been through something like this in a game of this magnitude now I mean I I hope it doesn't affect the crowd I mean the crowd the students into the game this has kind of let the air out of the building there was a ton of energy in this building since about an hour before tip off and now everybody sitting around looking at the lights yeah uh so you know I would I would say in this situation if I'm Bruce Pearl I'm not hating it yeah and Nate o wants to keep this thing going the energy in the building going and right now everybody's just sitting around confused on what's going on when are we going to play are we going to play and right now there are no answers I say we have a putting contest between Nick Dunlap and Roll Tide Willie uh to to see if we get the crow see let's let's let's do that that let's see what we got uh moving right along Bruce Pearl along with n oats standing at Center Court looking up at a couple of light stanions or fixtures basically they look like a lot of us do stand around Home Depot you know those might look good what about these I don't know but Don Daly's coming over to talk to folks court side maybe we can pick up up what he's got in with of the commission charg basketball see CU both coaches I think we want to agree to try to goe and play we got to make sure the SEC AUST is okay with these D we don't know if they going to let us go or not so we'll see glad we got a chance great job Tom styp EES dropping there on the conversation between Don Daly our referee and uh Jay Williams from ESPN and and you understand as far as the coaches are concerned and the players themselves come on we all played by street light before let's let's go play but you've got to have approval from the SEC office to do that and that's what they're trying to get approval for at the moment either play it in the the dim lights here in Coleman Coliseum go in the back gym play this thing as long as they let the uh which I bet I bet 13,000 in there would be cool send the Fire Marshall to the house and let's pack him in the practice gy I just think Tom needs to uh get us an extension court if we're going to have that happen but yeah not ideal but again they will their kids they'll adjust we forget that sometimes but it is definitely not what we had hoped for scheduled tip off time for just after 6:30 and now here we are at 643 hey look at the bright side Brian we got this delay but there's not a hole in the roof it's not a tornado that brought us to a to a stop we've done that before we or you actually you you should write a book we we've learn to read I will no you don't have to read it you just have to to write it uh but yeah we we've been through a tornado trying to figure that out and this is much better but uh maybe equally is confusing can kind of understand a tornado hitting this is uh something that we've never experienced in our 20 plus years together yeah and uh it's about time we had something new happen for crying out loud it's getting boring well yeah that'll that'll be in our book that it will indeed uh by the way um if you are just joining us we are in a delay we got started on this game played all of 29 seconds Janai broom hit a three on the left wing for alurn but it was just prior to that shot going up that a lot of us realized you know what this place is not fully lit they drop the lights and obviously have a uh programmed light not a light show but it's it's a special lighting program where it's it's fancied up if you will for the introduction of the home team starters the problem is the lights hadn't come back on you talk and Pat Adams will talk I'm going have to go through my routine Pat Adams says he's Pat Adams just came over and said I got to go through my stretching routine again SE all the lights are going to be shut off except the 45 seconds to so 45 second period of darkness in Coleman Coliseum please remain in your seats we'll get the game going again as soon as possible Chris they they heard you they did shut them off turn them off turn them back on off turn them back on and that's what Tony Giles just told the crowd you might want to get in your spots be quiet we're going to or or turn turn your flashlights on on your phones lights up lights down all over again like we did before the introduction of the starters but they're going to shut him down and then flip the switch after 45 seconds and dear Lord let them work we we wait for these matchups all season two of them in basketball one of them in football we get three in baseball and in softball usually one in the other sport sometimes home and Home in others it's just Alabama alurn we'd like to get it started restarted I should say 29 seconds in down three to nothing holy cow let there be [Music] light oh and let there be dim lights and then let there be lights back on again nobody move so somebody hit the dimmer switch I got has somebody gone to the garage and flip the switch like Clark grisell's family did so the officials are telling both benches you got two minutes to warm up okay and and listen this is a mindset situation adverse handling adversity it's not your normal adversity it's not foul trouble it's not an injury it's just something that is out of the ordinary that you got to get ready to play again Pat Adams official came over and said I got to go through my routine again so do these players and as much from a mindset standpoint as from a physical standpoint it's easy to get loose doing layup lines for 2 minutes but you got to get your mind right and that is going to be a key in this game especially the first few minutes and as you talked about as we talked about 10 minutes ago 15 minutes ago whenever it was so important an to get off to a good start to get this crowd into it and Alabama is getting loose right now physically got to be dialed in and sharp mentally Brian look we certainly hope this is the last time we have to deal with this but how if it's got to happen how much better that it's happened 30 seconds in as opposed to Midway through the ball game certainly you know 5 minutes to go in the second half well I mean let's not uh assume that that's not going to be the case I understand here tonight but I bet we don't drop the lights for anything else again not tonight probably a good idea tonight and moving forward but you know you got to handle adversity this is something yes it happens to both teams but on the road it does take a little bit of the energy out of the building now I don't know if any of the students are listening to the broadcast right now but I we're depending on you guys you got to get these players and this crowd back into the game we do indeed need him back involved making some noise and enjoying having the home court for this matchup between the Crimson Tide and the Auburn [Music] Tigers once again Holloway Williams broom Mo and Jones to five on the floor for Auburn Sears Nelson ritell Pringle and a St of the five for Alabama Auburn with a three nothing lead 29 seconds into this one and in just a matter of seconds play is going to resume at this pace we're going to be here until next Monday if we were to stop every 30 seconds but I don't think got fingers crossed we're not going to have this issue again let's go play ball bamama inbound at side Court Aaron Estrada to trigger it in ball on the sun he will get it in to Pringle in the corner Nick will hand it back to Sears hits the deck and a turnover by the Crimson Tide I don't know if that was a bad pass by Pringle the spacing was bad or what happened look like Mark Sears lost his footing and did they get the timeout yeah got the timeout and not the turnover Mark Sears and a dribble handoff obviously a set play coming out of the long stoppage in play dribble handoff situation it looked like Mark and Nick got their feet Tangled Up thought it was a turnover the official pointing towards the alurn Tigers side but it was actually pointing to the Alabama bench mark here's apparently got the timeout before the travel was called so two seconds in to the restart after a 20 minute delay Alabama gets a timeout so yes Chris we are on track for a long night we are we are indeed as long as we win we'll stay here as long as we need to inbounding it will be Estrada right in front of the Auburn bench gets it into Sears Mark looking to his left calling for either a screen or someone to catch a pass it'll be Sears who slips it or excuse me Pringle who slips it gets the catch drives into the lanee kicks it back Sears had his three attempt blocked scrambled the loose ball saved by Estrada but picked up by the Tigers and they'll bring it the other way they'll get it in the front Court work it to the left side open three up no good Pringle came crashing in trying to save it but all was touched on the Baseline by Auburn it'll belong to the Crimson tied or did they point the wrong way wait a minute don don Daly said my fault I pointed the wrong way that's all it was honest mistake he corrected it Chris Moore touched the ball last and B will have it now for the tie great effort by Nick Pringle to force that ball off the Alburn Tigers Bama will inbound it to Nelson Grant picks it up on the left wing gives it off to Sears now he dribbles to the right side 20 on the shot clock 1850 on the first half game clock Sears plays through a foul drives in dishes it out to estada gets down the lane try to give it off Pringle had it deflected and stolen Here Come the Tigers more leaving it for the trailer Holloway floats to the right wing three is up it's no good rebound tipped into the hands of Estrada and here comes the tie the other way you got to be tough fellas got to be awfully tough tonight Estrada spinning away from traffic and R will traveled as he made his way into paint the physical play that we saw in Knoxville not surprisingly picked up by Auburn which is their style anyway but Bama not hand Ling it very well early two turnovers in the first minute and a half of this game for Alabama not a great start on the offensive end three nothing Tigers 1818 to go first half broom inside an and one opportunity scores off the glass and Pringle is called for the foul not a good look in the eyes of the Bama players here early in this one but again it is extremely early we're less than two minutes in and it's a 6 nothing Auburn advantage and it's all Janai broom knocked down the three with the lights turned down the first 30 seconds of this game before the stoppage in play and a three-point play opportunity broom hits the n one and the Tigers grab the six nothing Advantage Here Comes Estrada bringing the ball front court for the Crimson Tide he'll work on the left wing gets cut off there brings it down low to Pringle Nick will drive in Dish to Sears getting into the paint cut off he'll back it out Beyond The Arc 15 on the shot clock block RIT will trying to drive goes down the lane little tear drop hits the back iron no good rebound tipped into the hands of Jaylen Williams for alurn Williams leaving it for the trailer Holloway Holloway off a screen trying to back his way out and now will'll reset it near the Center Court strip 6 nothing Auburn early in this one tigers go onto the far wing with it toore and then the ball goes out of bounds touch Last by the Crimson Tide good look from Latrell rightel who got the start for Ryland Griffin in this game a little bit of a surprise to start the game Ryland has been a starter all year long should be in this game pretty soon just a matchup situation in the way Latrell writel has been playing nice floater inside just a little strong with it and Alabama still scoreless 0 for two with a couple of turnovers Chad Baker mazara in the ball game for the Tigers Williams with the basketball now giving it up to Jones Jones trapped unloads it to broom kicks it on the left side stolen away by Sears mark on the drive goes downhill tough shot high off the glass in he bamas on the board 6-2 Auburn 1721 remaining first half could have been a travel on Janai broom great job defensively as Mark Sears jumped the passing Lane and defense leading to offense for Alabama's first points crowd in it Holloway with the basketball directing traffic looking to his right now drives to his left gets into the paint no look pass and Beauty to broom who throws it home for two what a pass from Aiden Holloway well defended no look able to spin and find Janai broom who's been really good here in the early going Estrada on the drive kicks it over to Nelson On The Wing gets into the paint gets the rim missed the layup hit the back iron came off for the finger roll and Here Come the Tigers the other way near side Williams thought about a three drives left picks up the dribble throws it down low and sett Away by Nelson Grant flips it ahead to Sears barking transition going downhill to the rim that should have been gold tiing and it is basket interference is called on alurn and Bama will get the bucket it's now 84 alurn with 1631 to go opening half nice job defensively another steal leading to an open floor opportunity for Mark Sears and that is what NATO wants to see Mark Sears in transition making plays jiren Stevenson in for the Crimson Tide Auburn getting Cheney Johnson Alabaster native into the ball game for Auburn Here Comes Holloway flipping it to broom top of the Ark broom goes back to Donaldson left side Donaldson to KD Johnson who's checked in he'll work inside the ark his jumper from 177 is up and good Tigers Mak it a 10-4 Advantage with 1608 to go here in the first half Bama gets it into the quarter catch and shoot three ball two strong by Holloway or excuse me by jiren Stevenson and here comes Auburn into the front Court Holloway throwing it to Johnson on the left wing he'll flip it back out toay now with 1550 to go in the opening half Albert on top 10 four Baker maera behind the back with a dribble picks it up shoots the 15-footer and got it to go had a sze advantage overseers and took advantage there getting the bucket to add to au's lead it's an eight-point advantage here's Sears with it bounce Past St now to the right High pick and roll well executed Mark Sears drops the diamond and easy dump for jiren Stevenson alurn with the basketball Bama down six here early tigers with it working it left side over to Johnson Johnson flips it on the left wing now to broom in the low post broom trying to back his way down spins Baseline tough shot left hand got it to roll over the rim as he muscled his way past Nelson and a whistle and we've got a scoreboard excuse me a backboard issue now I think a dunk or excuse me a uh move to the basket may have affected the light there on the backboard it brings us to a media timeout 1506 to go first half 14-6 Auburn leading Alabama on the Crimson Tide sports network from learfield here at Payless drugs we continue to be just what the Bam's down 14-6 to the Auburn Tigers keep up with everything Alabama with the Alabama Crimson Tide mobile app presented by Cadence Bank download it now for free at the App Store and Google play Tom styp Chris Stewart Brian passic we are in the light in Coleman Coliseum across the way our sideline reporter and part-time electrical contractor Roger Hoover glad to be in the light as well on this side but right now the Crimson TI trailing 14-6 to Auburn and the key word in the Alabama huddle was competitiveness the Tigers have made the last five shots so Alabama looking for competitiveness Brian on really both sides of the ball but especially on the defensive end with the way this game has started great start for Auburn offensively six for eight from the field Jan bro a 27% three-point shooter starts the game off with a three and they have been hot ever since Alabama getting some good looks some open opportunities Latrell righto with the Miss floater jiren Stevenson with with a wide open three but couple of steals leading the offensive opportuni for Alabama Mark Sears Leading The Way with four and both of his buckets have come off of Auburn turnovers Alabama doing a better job defensively creating some open floor opportunities did not do that nearly enough on Saturday so that's a good sign but defensively they got to do a better job defending the rim Janai broom right now scoring inside and out in Auburn hot on the offensive end whatever was the issue with the [Music] light that basically frames the glass backboard and it's normally tied with the shot clock or the actual game clock going off and so the officials can tell better when in those are in sync so that when there is a end of game or end of half situation you've got a clearer uh picture literally of whether the shot was off in time or not and that seemed to go off just before or right as the dunk by Jared sevenson took [Music] place we have had some issues here in the early going with lights with technology and we're getting stops and right now the focus is getting stops Auburn 75% 6 for8 from the field a little too easy around the rim Auburn a team that can really shoot it and they go inside with Jaylen Williams Janai broom one of the deepest teams Dylan Cardwell in right now Alabama's got to do a better job defensively and when they do good things typically happen turning to Def turning defense into offense which is what we've seen on a couple of occasions well they checked and ran the shot clock down the light that frames just did not go off so we just don't have it available put that one on the list I wouldn't think the shot clock would be an issue in this game I wouldn't think so either Sears on the drive sees parted laid it up got it to go andama is back to it in six with 1451 remaining in the opening half everything Alabama's gotten has been at The Rim all created by Mark Sears Dylan Cardwell in the basketball game driving is KD Johnson kicks it in the corner and they'll give it off a bounce pass goes inside Cardwell able to step through two Defenders and got slam dunk to go 16 to8 Auburn we've got 1430 to go in the first half bam with a basketball front Court Sears fires a pass to Stevenson to mohamd W who's come in now to Sears on the left wing Sears crossing over stepping back goes left gets into the paint flips it outside Ryland Griffin three B great start for Ryland Griffin the Bain first three-pointer in Alabama is two and then five once again created by Mark Sears it was close to a turnover he was off balance but able to get it to ran Griffin who knocks down a big three for the tie thaner bazer working on the right wing with Grifford guarding him it goes off the leg of the Auburn player out of bounds possession will belong to the Crimson Tide great start for Riley Griffin Off the Bench for Alabama making plays on both ends of the floor knock down the three this time knocks it off the Auburn Tigers great defensive play by Riley it'll be ritel to inbound it gets it into Sears Mark will bring it front court with Johnson defending he goes left he goes by him he steps back Beyond The Arc another Defender picks up on the switch Griffin all alone three again HS it again and a baby Ryland Griffin loves Coleman Coliseum he's been hot in this building his last two times out in bama is two andin two and Coleman Coliseum loves Ryland Griffin Listen to This Crowd Baker mazera trying to shake free throws it into the low post ball fought for scramble Cardwell almost walked and he then threw it away and Alabama has a chance to tie it up with 1315 to go here in the opening half a little energy Off the Bench Ryland Griffin making plays on both ends of the floor also Mohamad wagi forcing the Alburn turnover Sears with the basketball for Alabama Johnson will wisely back off of him he hasn't shown that he could stay with him Sears directing traffic working against Johnson plays off the screen Blows By him again kicks it in the corner ritel all alone three B three in a row from deep in the tides taking its first lead of the night a 901 for Alabama in a minute and 13 seconds getting stops defensively starting to knock down shots Here Come the Tigers the other way Baker m Sarah working at left of the circle Williams drives in the lane shot blocked by W Bama running the other way ritel going down the lane left-handed layup no good in the rebound control by Auburn they'll run the other direction Donaldson flips it to Johnson on the wing crosses over they're going to call a foul of the Crimson tied Nate oats didn't argue with Pat Adams on that one as the trip did indeed take place and you got a verbal exchange or two KD Johnson in the middle love it and Alabama has got to show Poise against the Auburn Tigers there's not two bigger trash Talkers in the league than ktie Johnson and Dylan Cardwell Alabama's got to show composure great job the last couple of minutes of this game mentioned the 90 run for Alabama five out of their last field goals Au six out of seven but Bama creating turnovers getting stops with deflections some live ball turnovers as starting to knock down some open shots Alabama three for five from Deep if KD Johnson played for my team I'd probably like him a lot but he does it 1225 to go I know you I'm not sure 12 I'm just leave it there 1225 to go in the first half to say 177 16 and you are a nice guy and it was a nice thing for me to say no more Tigers Drive they get the layup to go and they regain the lead as Baker bazara gets the layup to go Bama inbounding it to Sears and they will put Donaldson or excuse me they will put Katie Johnson on Ryland Griffin because he couldn't guard Mark Sears Sears with a basketball timeline Far Side working right side off the screen mark gives it up to Griffin catch and shoot three and a m again red smoking hot Ryland Griffin doing it again he's got nine Off the Bench and Bama leads it 20- 18 Ryland Griffin doesn't care about starting three for three all from Deep Here Come the Tigers Donaldson to Baker bazer pulling up left side from 17 no good rebounded a strata give it to Ryland he's got it ahead to diabat who's checked in and he gets fouled they call the foul on the floor and Bama will have the ball and listen to this crowd at com time out on the floor 1128 to go in the half 20- 18 our score Good Guys on top the way Roger Hoover thank you so much Tom well the talk was all about defense in the first hudle it was also the talk once again in this second huddle for the Crimson Tide but everybody really positive about the way Alabama was able to shut down Auburn in that last 4minute stretch only four points for the Tigers so we're still shooting the basketball 8 of 12 to start this ball game but the energy was there defensively that was certainly good to see and then the rest of the Huddle was really player Le talking about the great play of Ryland Griffin every single Crimson tied player congrat ulated him on that last stretch because Brian he was the difference in that last sequence for the tie a spark Off the Bench to say the least ran Griffin may not want to start anymore he's been so good Off the Bench three for three from Deep Alabama on a 12-2 run you go back to Saturday Alabama got outscored in points off turnovers 23-4 by the Tennessee Volunteers already 10 points off of four Auburn turnovers for Alabama as you mentioned Roger the tiger shooting at at a high clip 8 for 12 from the field 67% but those turnovers are leading to open four opportunities for Alabama the tide led by Ryland grien Off the Bench and Mark Sears he's three for four doing a good job of getting downhill he's got six points he's already got five assists sharing the ball finding open teammates Alabama starting to knock down threes four for six from Beyond The Ark Sears dishing out the assist and Griffin's picking up the tag he has got nine points three of three shooting all from deep and he's done that in only 4 minutes on the floor not surprised to see Nate Oak tell him you're good get back out there again it'll be Ryland Sears diab body Pringle and Estrada the five on the floor for the Crimson Tide of Alabama everybody Auburn countering with Jones Burman broom Williams and Holloway is their five and just one team foul for Auburn they are a team that fouls a pretty good bit but so far just one team foul it's been called Pringle giving it off to the body Drive in the lane tough shot blocked out of bounds by broom in possession will stay with the Crimson Tide didn't result in a bucket or even drawing a foul but love the aggressiveness for Mohammed de body yeah Auburn will foul or they have that has been really the only issue they've had on the defensive end you mentioned only just one called in this game but got to attack the rim but they do a good job of blocking shots as Jan broom got that one The stata Fakes a three drives it against broom tough shot with the left hand no good shot it a tad short anticipating the shot blocker coming over and broom Alters it even though he doesn't get the block and then he grabs the rebound Tigers front Court to hour right Holloway trying to feed it off to the man on the wing Williams lost the handle good defense again mod deab body making his presence felt on PS bran that don't always show up on the stat sheet it's not an accident that mod deab body was the guy that was guarding jail in Williams He seems to always make plays he's always around the ball the hustle plays typically go to mod body here's Sears bringing up front Court Bama leading it 20 to 18 with 1053 remaining in the first half Pringle to Griffin throws it down low Pringle underneath throws it home the double team went to the redot Ryland Griffin and he made him pay he's hot but he's also unselfish and understands that two guys came at him there was somebody wide open it was his teammate Nick Pringle who gets the easy D broom with it top of the Ark feeds it off to Williams fre ball up no good long rebound fought for they're going to get Nick Pringle for the foul as he went flying in and accidentally knocked Jones to the deck for the Tigers good call there tough as you had about four guys going for the ball but it was a foul on Nick Pringle that's going to get him out of the game and we'll get Alabama's talented freshman jiren Stevenson back into the ball game Nick pringle's been in foul trouble a lot this year but those are the kind of fouls that you don't mind an aggressive defensive rebound attempt it was the right call as Nick goes to the [Music] bench Tigers get it into the corner they'll bring it to the wing with the dribble is Holloway has it out near the center court strike working against estra goes left stops almost walked but unloads it to broom seven on the shot clock broom trying to back down against Nelson spins left shoots it off the glass and it drops in ji broom one of the best in the league Among The Bigs and looking like it right there with 10 minutes to go in the half Bama's lead cut back to two Nelson a dribble to his right another and a hand off to Griffin gives it off to Nelson who dropped it then gave it back to his one more Griffin three and tell you what Ryland if you touch it shoot it baby he knocks home another one his fourth bank first three of the half he is four of four and B leads it 25 to 20 because of the dribble penetration Auburn had to switch had the 610 Center Janai broom on Ryland Griffin he wasn't up close enough and R got it off Holloway puts up a wild shot no good tip follow no good broom gets a second opportunity a third and on the fourth he puts it in bama without an answer for him on the inside Stevenson now driving spinning shooting tough shot no in the rebound claimed by Williams for the Tigers Bama up by three with 911 to go in the first half Tigers drive and then throw it away but it bounces around into the hands of broom while shot no rebound tipped out of control by Alabama Here Comes Sears the other way down the left sideline Sears lets traffic go by gives it off to Nelson fakes the three gets it into the paint trying to back his way down spinning pump fake twice three times shot out no good and bro with another board for the Tigers that is his fifth Alabama getting some good looks around the rim the three balls are falling it's been all R and gripping but some missed opportunities at The Rim pretty good defense but one ran Nelson normally makes jayen Williams just popped Alabama's freshman Stevenson in the face no whistle Holloway now tries an off balance three no good in the rebound control by Nelson Bama up three with the ball with 822 to go in the half Sears Nelson top of the arc three to strong and wide left that was not his best effort and here comes alurn the other way he may have fix the shot clock though Here Comes Auburn working to their right giving it off top of the circle to Williams he'll drive to the Elbow leaner is up no good rebound snatched out of the air by of course rying Griffin he's doing it all here in the first half well that's a big time rebound from a guard in traffic Griffin playing off the screen from Nelson down the lane got hack no whistle got it back Estrada left wing three short in the rebound control by the Tigers great effort by gr Nelson to get it a Estrada Alabama way off in a couple of three attempts Ryland Griffin four of four from three the rest of the team one of 18 from Beyond The Arc Here Come the Tigers down the lane leaner up and good off the glass by Jones a beautiful move to make it a one-point game 25- 24 is our score Bama on the drive layup is up and they're going to say it's a foul on the floor correct something I said I was way off on the numbers and I apologize we'll get it straighted out on the three-point numbers when we come back I do know that Ryland Griffin's four of four I do know that Alabama leads Auburn 2524 with seven 14 remaining for Alabama basketball Bama's up two 25 uh uh up 1 2524 uh 714 to go in the first half Roger who we started in the dark but it's really Ryland Griffin that's lighting up Coleman Coliseum right now yeah he really is and Alabama coaching staff talking about he can do it all by himself right now everyone's got to contribute and really make tough plays that the one message Coach O had make tough plays as well as rebound the basketball right now the Crimson side being outrebounded in this game 13-9 so those are some things he's talking about as we still have 714 left to go in this first half make tough plays rebound the basketball yeah got to stop janii broom he's been so good for the alurn Tigers their best player leading score already with 14 points 6 for eight from the field he's got six rebounds Alabama has had no answers for Janai broom a guy that could be in the running for SEC player the year playing like it here in this one fortunately Alabama as a team shooting it well from the three-point line but really it's all Ryland Griffin Alabama 5 for n four of those coming from Ryland Griffin who didn't get the start but he has been a huge spark Off the Bench four for four from the three-point line Crimson tied so far 10 of 22 from the field five of nine from three-point range Auburn's 11 of 21 overall they have made just one of their five three-pointed simps and Brian it's Alabama that is not only forced turnovers by the Tigers they've had five to the two for Alabama but tied with those 12 points off turnovers great to see Bama has only allowed Auburn to get two off of Alabama's giveaways well so important to try to get easy buckets against the Auburn Tigers yes Alabama has Firepower but this Auburn team number two in field goal percentage and scoring defense in the SEC they're a great defensive team in the half court Alabama's been able to get out in transition off of their defense just four points off turnover Saturday against Tennessee already 12 in this one bam inbound it from the Baseline ritell trying to get it in Tigers knock it in the back court and after a scramble Auburn thankfully knocks it out of bounds boy what Hustle by Mark Sears Alabama not able to get the ball to get the ball in cleanly and that's something that Bruce Pearl does as well as anybody in the SEC they deny inbound passes underneath out of bound situations they're looking for turnovers almost got one right there the hustle play by Mark Sears and right now Auburn pressing Mark Bama inbounds it they get it to ritel in the front court near the Auburn bench he'll work to the center of the floor then flip it to Griffin Ryland fakes a shot now puts up a shot and that one amazingly was halfway down before it went out ball knocked around into the hands of of ritell and he gets fouled and they called it let me clarify it was KD Johnson who is called for the foul and that is just the second foul on Auburn's team check that third foul the third team foul thank you and the second personal on Johnson inbounds goes to ritell and the fifth three attempt by Rin Griffin halfway down and popped out to a given four and a half makes here is Sears driving tough shot right hand it wouldn't go and the rebound is controlled by Auburn it was challenged by Cardwell even though he didn't block it and the Tigers come the other way Johnson on the drive gets underneath the basket throws it away boy he's had a good start had he 632 to go in the first half and Alabama enjoying a 2524 lead and the tide will inbound it to Griffin nice job defensively Mo wagi matched up on KD Johnson got him going with full steam ahead and Auburn turns it over again Sears drives to the left side Sam Walters has checked in for Alabama the ball goes to ritel and he got a little look the pass was not the easiest to catch but he tried to catch it with one hand and it was a high pass slightly to his left but instead of going up grabbing it with two hands I don't know why he tried to grab it with the off hand not sure if he was trying to maneuver himself to catch it and go but that one looked like one he could have had and Alabama turns it over K Johnson on the drive the kick into the right corner for Auburn they'll try a step back jumper and miss it rebound tipped fought for and saved into the hands of Mark Sears Mark will start the break look out behind you bounce pass into the corner Griffin flips it it hits the side of the glass and now Auburn comes the other way Johnson about to pass a terrible one a turnover and here comes bam in the other direction w Walters light him up Sam oh it was halfway down and rattled out but Auburn is going to be called for a foul right there great hustle on both ends by both teams up and down that's what we thought we would get in this one Sam Walters didn't catch it cleanly it was a little bit behind them but able to rise up and fire Alabama attacking the offensive glass forcing Auburn to come over the bat 2524 Alabama lead the sixth ranked tigers by a point with 541 to go in the first half bamama to inbound it Estrada from the Baseline gets it into to W lays it up and in for two confusion there by the Tigers and a nice read by Estrada dagi but when you take chances and denying the pass out of bounds somebody can slip three free Alabama was patient Aon estra waited it was about a 4 and 1/2 second count until Mohamad w Broke Free B ends up with an easy G oh they're going to call a foul on Alabama it looked like Auburn simply lost possession but they say Estrada was the reason for that a hack on the arm is Ry and Griffin will check out and get a breather and in to replace him will be I believe jiren Stevenson for the Crimson Tide Alabama going with a bigger lineup with Mo J Stevenson and 69 Sam Walters alburns turn it over seven times Alabama four Johnson on the drive goes down the lane a wild shot and a great one got it to go off the glass beautiful bucket there at Auburn his pull back to it in one 27 to 26 Alabama with the lead inside wag spinning in the lane lost it and then had it taken away in transition it's Auburn bacon Baker Z excuse me missed the layup ball Stripped Away and stolen here comes ritel the other way ritel lets traffic go by Bama looking to add to a onepoint lead Whit will going downhill kicks it in the corner waltter three too strong rebounded to Strada goes in puff fake shot he had it knocked away in a whistle and the Tigers come the other direction Alabama when they get the ball around the basket is looking for the shot blockers missing at Point Blank Range shots they normally make Johnson working against EST Str driving to the left side steps back deep three short rebound grabbed by ritel he'll push it to the left wing he'll stop he'll let traffic catch up he'll play off a screen from Stevenson he'll give it to jiren left side three ball B nice pick and pop there from Stevenson he had one earlier that he didn't take drove in and turned it over that time let it fly with no hesitation six bank first three by Alabama and a timeout called by Auburn and Bruce Pearl who has worked himself into a froth has called a timeout over on the Auburn 353 remaining in at the half for the Toyota Halftime Report with first half stats scores around the SEC and a quick chat with Coach Nate oats presented by Cooks best control Cooks best control the Centron system the unbeatable combination for termite protection and that chat will be coach oats with Roger H yeah right now really positive Alabama huddle once again for the Crimson side is Jay milro I more introduced here at Coleman to a great Ovation uh but Austin CLA said first thing I really don't have anything for you Auburn only scored two points in that last stretch defensively that's where Alabama wants to play and then one other player was really praised in that last huddle that was Aaron Estrada for especially what he was doing rebounding the basketball especially on the o boards so he earned a lot of Praise from his coaching staff as again Alabama defensively had another good stretch Brian yeah nice job defensively again forcing turnovers right now 14 points off of seven alurn turnovers Alabama doing the job defensively getting some open floor opportunities need to get Aon Estrada going on the offensive end now he's doing the job defensively and rebounding finding open teammates but he and Grant Nelson Alabama's two of their top three leading scorers have not scored Aaron Estrada in this one 0 for three's had some good looks at it Grant Nelson 0 for four from the field those guys need to score for Bama to be successful so far it's been Ryland Griffin and Mark Sears and some contributions Off the Bench you've got uh Nick Pringle playing well muhamad diab and jiren Stevenson two for four from the field just knocked down a big three forcing the Alburn timeout Auburn has been really good closing halves this year this is where they've stried the under four timeout Bruce Pearl gets the timeout Alabama needs to finish this half strong got some momentum with the way they've shot three could have extended this lead with some point blank looks that bam has missed but important to finish the half strong Sears Nelson Griffin right soul Stevenson the five on the floor for Alabama Tigers get the basketball Baker bazer shoots a jumper from 15 no good rebound tipped into the hands of Stevenson out the pass to Sears Mark front Court leaves it for the trailer Griffin fakes a three drives to the basket all the way to the right got fouled he'll go to the line to shoot two when you've made four of five from the three-point line line and the one you missed went halfway down and popped out you're able to sell a shot FL fake ring Griffin pump fake drove the lane got fouled and it'll be Alabama's first two free throws of the game and I thought the free throw line would play an important factor in this game Auburn a team that typically fouls a lot because of their depth because of their aggressiveness but just five team fouls for alurn in the first free throw attempt for Bama Alabama number one in the SEC and free throw perent one of the best in the nation at 78% Ryland Griffin did not start he's played 10 minutes he's got 13 points a chance for 14 right here and he gets it to go first two free throws attempted by Bama Auburn's one of one they're one of seven from the AR b a six of 13 Alburn on the drive and a reach is going to be called or is that a tie up it's a reach in it's going to be called a Latrell ritell and latr did not like that call Great defensive play love the energy of this Alabama team and the pride they're taking on the defensive end the TR rightel didn't like the call he is playing hard on both ends Tigers inbounding it for the Baseline broom looking gives it off in the corner to Williams Williams back to broom posting up on Stevenson broom spinning spinning spinning left puts it up left hand no good tipped out back into his hands spins Baseline again off the glass no good rebound clay by Sears bark the other way Sears front Court Sears top of the Ark Sears to his right a couple of dribbles hand off ritel three another fank first three for Alabama seven of 14 so far in the first half the tide leads it by nine with 3 minutes remaining in a half and Mark SE with his six assist of the first half Tigers give it up top of the circle to Jones Jones dribbling away from a double team Jones up top to Holloway Brown losing it blessed mind here's Holloway giving it off broom down the lane that should have been an offensive foul instead a whistle and he gets a bucket for two running the other way is Sears pushed all the way and you couldn't hear the whistle because he was hit about three times and finally Don Daly blew the whistle but you could not hear it it was so loud and Things Are getting a little tense they may go to the oh they're going to go to the monitor to look and see if he threw the ball how about this call the first four fouls that were committed so he's not frustrated when you finally blow the whistle on the fifth foul and maybe he doesn't get upset I agree with you and with all that being said you're exactly right Mark can't throw the ball in frustration I'm with you I agree now the intensity of this game is about as high as it gets in college basketball and both teams playing extremely hard and the physical nature getting to Alabama a little bit they played tough but you've seen the fight the intensity in the eyes of the Crimson [Music] Tide officials are at the scores table now the question will be he he tossed the ball did he throw it did he kind of you know was it Worthy you threw it at is I mean it his feet from 20 ft away it's not like he threw it at his head or anything I can see this going either way but the point is got to maintain your composure whether you get fouled five or 10 times in a row and they don't call it you can't give Auburn free points in this situation if they end up calling the technical foul or anything that's going to slow the momentum and that certainly could fall in that category Roger Hoover I don't know if you can hear anything or see anything better we don't have benefit of the replay you may have a look at it yeah they're continuing to take a look at the Sears throwing the ball away and again the incident the contact right before that again Birmingham talking with the officials about that call right now should have know something soon but they have been looking a lot at Sears with the ball going away for just a few moments yeah Chris while you were asking the question they showed it here in Coleman Coliseum and he threw it towards an Auburn player I don't it was hard to see in the in the shot where the Auburn player was but it was a frustrated move by Mark Sears it wasn't a big deal in my opinion but something he probably shouldn't have done but again I'll say he did it from about 20 ft away it wasn't in his head it didn't result in any type of injury or anything I'm not even sure the k for alurn knew that he threw it his way and really the thing I don't like about it is how this is taken weight too long we've already had too many stoppages in play had about a 20-minute delay we couldn't get the lights back on after the player introductions and alurn comes out hits the three Janai broom to get things started in the first 30 seconds then we stop it for 20 minutes to try to get the lights back on and Auburn got up early I think they were up eight the first couple of minutes of this game took the crowd in this Alabama team a few minutes to get going but once they did it is been Electric in this building oh let's see KB is the one that started this mess Roger what have you got a common foul going in Miss Baker bizar and then a technical foul will be issued against Sears I'm going to guess never mind I'll be nice I'll be nice [Music] his first personal foul of all the stuff now here's here's why that's a big deal if he gets another one even on something that doesn't relate to anger it could be anything that by definition is a technical foul if he gets hit with that Brian one of the best scores in the country is out of the ball game and I can assure you that someone on the Alabama bench has let Mark know you can't get another one and Mark is a veteran he's a leader he's one of the best not best players if not the best player in the SEC so he understands the situation and I understand what he did the intensity of this game just frustrated with the physical nature that a few fouls weren't called ultimately it was a mistake by Mark Sears but the intensity of this game is exactly what we thought it would be Chad Baker mazera an 89 % free throw shooter on the year hits the first of two technical free throws and then Sears will go to the line to shoot no is it on the floor I guess I think it was on the floor so you're right just the 15 fou for alurn so mazara hits them both and Alabama will have it underneath the basket leading 35-3 with 2 minutes at seconds remaining in the opening half that's actually the 16 foul for Auburn so next foul on the tiger should send Bama to the line inbounds goes to Nelson On the Block he'll spin to his right pump fake shot off the glass and in could to see him get one to go especially having to muscle his way there yeah it could have been an n one physical around the basket but Alabama able to finish through contact at The Rim something they haven't done with consistency in this game Tigers work it left side three ball up and no good ball batted around scramble B's got it here comes Sears tied on top 37- 30 2 minutes remaining in the half Sears front Court going down the lane gives it back out to Nelson Grant flips it left side to Stevenson Jared on the drive stops at the free throw line Sears Let it Fly had it blocked got it back goes down the lane shoots it and got it to go what a play by Mark Sears it was a great defensive play B andai BR one of the best shot blockers in the SEC Mark thought he was free from the three-point line but able to get the offensive rebound and finish at The Rim Holloway a bounce pass to Brun skips it over on the left wing three ball Williams no good rebounded by Griffin and Ryland will push it ahead for the tide Griffin into the front court for Alabama playing off a slip Screen Works Center the floor drives left goes down the lane tough shot of the lane no rebound tip f for Sears battling but the Tigers come out with it and they've got numbers Johnson leaving it for the trailer in Hollow Holloway a deep three no good again rebounded by Griffin Auburn now one of 10 from Beyond The Arc Sears on the wing held no whistle Baseline Skips a pass out Latrell Let it Fly baby bottom LR ritell Jr gives Bama a 12-point lead 48 seconds to go in the half after Alabama's eight B first three of the half deflection steel Sears numbers Sears down the lane to the rim bucket is good defensive play by Latrell ritell Alabama on a 90 run in the last 2 minutes and N seconds the tied six for their last eight holding alurn one for their last [Music] nine Aiden away at the strike 82% free throw shooter on the year one plus the bonus and he missed it and Nelson clears it in Alabama will hold it for the final shot Ryland Griffin will walk it ahead what a half he's had with 14 points six Griffin five bounce pass thrown away stolen back though by ritel two three at the buzzer no oh man just about the only thing that didn't go right but the Coleman Coliseum crowd on its feet as Bama leads by 14 here's Roger coacher th in the first down I mean once we settled down and started getting some stops at the first four minutes we were good we just haven't had very good starts we got to nine points for Alabama Five Points by jiren Stevenson and then for the Auburn Tigers really one player dominating on the stat sheet that is Janai broom he has 16 of the 30 points for Auburn so over half the scoring output for the Tigers from one player toy room he's got 16 points seven rebounds nobody else with more than six points for Auburn and that was Baker mazara with six points thanks to but I I would love to keep this thing rolling Alabama with an incredible final 15 minutes listen it didn't start off the way we wanted to with a 20 minute delay Jan broom hits the three and then we have the delay because can't get the lights on Auburn go HS up eight early and all of a sudden Ryland Griffin checks into the game and he put on a show he goes 4 for five from the three-point line uh actually I think it was better than that actually ran Griffin yes four for five four for six overall goes to the free throw line knocks down a couple but the great thing about the lineup change that NATO made is both guys responded in a big way with dra ritel gets the start he resp responds with nine points three for four from the three-point line and Ryland Griffin comes in Off the Bench he wasn't mad he didn't start he just produced in a big way knocked down his first four threes and got this crowd into the game in a big way talked about important to finish the half strong Auburn's strength has been finishing each half really strong Alabama was able to extend the lead and a big reason why is a three-point line Alabama eight for 17 from the three-point l line and also creating turnovers Auburn had nine first half turnovers Alabama with 16 points off turnovers in the first 20 minutes had four points off turnovers the entire 40 minutes in Knoxville on Saturday Alabama getting it done creating open for opportunities off their defense right now first five minutes first five minutes so important in this game for both teams I'm sure Bruce Burl talked about that with his Auburn Tiger team and Nate oats wants to continue to put the gas pedal down and continue what they did late in the first half very important for Alabama to get off to a great start here in the second half well we got a quick second let's pause 10 seconds for station I Crimson side Sports Network Alabama will have possession first to begin half number two Sears Nelson ritell Pringle and Estrada same five that start of the game start the second half as well Fado Crimson tied to get it in the front Court ritel handing it off to Sears Mark surveying the floor looking to his right picks up the dribble gives it off to Nelson Nelson will bring It Center of the floor now with a shot clock under 15 Sears with it in his hands at 12 dribbles away from a double team finds Nelson over to right so left side he'll try it eat three no rebound fought for and claim by Auburn big rebound Inside by Williams Tigers will push it ahead Jones on the left wing steps back deep three attempt that one is up and good and Auburn makes just its second three of the night its first one with the lights on here at Coleman Coliseum they made the first bucket of the first half from three didn't make another one the rest of the way hopefully same thing will happen in the second Pringle with it pivots hands it off to Estrada Estrada going Baseline spinning away from trouble gets into the lane kicks it over to Nelson left wing nine on the shot clock Grant to Sears fakes a three goes downhill in the lane tried to dump it off but Pringle had gone to the basket another Bama turnover Here Comes Jones the other way wild shot but got it to go really should have been an n one talked about the importance of a start alurn knocks down the three and very easily could have had an an one opportunity at The Rim wres him with a basketball for Alabama gives it off to Sears a nine-point Alabama lead with 1835 remaining here in the second half of play Sears driving right going downhill getting to the rim L it up no follow up Pringle no in the rebound claimed by Jones who brings it into the front Court Jones trying a three right side no good in the rebound is controlled by Bama Pringle gives it off to Estrada Estrada on the near side crosses over goes Baseline reverse layup no tipped by Sears no and the rebound claimed by Williams Williams Outlet pass Works to the head to Holloway trying a three it's up it's no good but he rebounds his own Miss finds Jones left side three no good in the rebound Claim by Sears Alabama struggle with some open opportunities at The Rim Auburn shot blockers changing shots some Miss opportunities here the first few minutes of the second half Crimson Tide looking for its first points of half number two as where more than 2 minutes in Sears driving at the Block left side gives it off to right or to Estrada who brings it all the way to the right corner defended by broom step back three short in the rebound controlled by Auburn Here Come the Tigers the other way they throw it underneath to broom who catches it throws it down and Nate oats livid and he'll call a timeout and bring his squat over a break of the action will pause as well 1725 to go here in the second a frustrated Alabama huddle first from the players being frustrated the way this second half has gotten off to a 7 nothing lead for aubing Coach O talked about intensity especially with a large lead finding a way to maintain intensity we've seen Alabama's lead cut in half at this point from 44 to 30 now to 44- 37 thanks to Au starting off on a 70 run so again Brian the key word of this pass subtle intensity well you knew you were going to get Auburn's Best Shot coming out of halftime Alabama 14-point lead all the momentum and Auburn has come out you mentioned the 70 run Alabama 0 for six a little loose with the ball some opportunities at the rim and Alabama had those early in the first half not able to convert need to get Aaron Estrada going in this game he's not scored and it's been a struggle 0 for five from the field he's Alabama's second leading score in Alabama's third leading score Grant Nelson just one for five fortunately it's been Ryland Griffin Mark Sears leading the way for Alabama LR whes also with nine but right now it's about getting to the rim and converting Alabama not able to score the rim or really even get to the free throw line in the first half thought the free throw line would be important in this game and it still may very well be Alabama the leading free throw shooting team in the SEC does a great job of getting to the line but they haven't been able to do that in this game just two for two from the line it was Ryland Griffin going to the line early in the first half or Midway through the first half but with Auburn's aggressiveness defensively they go after block shots they and needs to either score at The Rim or get to the free throw line and they've done neither in this game fortunately they've been able to light it up from three in the first half Alabama 8 for 17 from Deep they missed a couple here in the first few minutes of the second half see if Auburn picks things up with their defensive intensity as well already big in the half court they're going to pick it up full court at least on the inbounds pass they may drop off of that once pamama gets it in if they do so RIT will get it in to Sears and Grant will bring it front excuse me Nelson will bring it front Court dribbles away from trouble gives it off to Griffin Ryland looking left no movement from Alabama offensively Griffin dribbles right gives it off to top of the arc Grant a couple of dribbles left between the legs to his right gives it off now to Griffin nine on the shot clock Griffin a step back deep Bree short rebound tipped f for and a scramble on the deck and Janai broom will come out with it that's a tough shot from R grien he was making those in the first half but Alabama 0 for seven here in the second half 4437 Alabama with the lead but momentum wearing orange and blue at the moment Donaldson gives it inside brooms pins and throws at home nobody picked him up when the ties lead has been cut to five again bamma let it by 14 at intermission it's all Alburn to start half number two 90 Run for the Tigers here is Sears with it top of the Ark dribbling to his right gives it off left side Griffin thought about a three tries to shake free from the defender Jones seven on the shot clock Griffin going left going downhill tough shot in the lane no good tip no good broom clears another Miss by Alabama and Here Come the Tigers Baker bazer gets it in the corner tries a three misses it thankfully in the rebound claimed by Mo diabat Big Mo will bring it front Court himself diabat near side diabat still with a dribble on the near Wing gives it off to Nelson takes the dribble to his right a couple of them picks it up tries a three short caught underneath by ritel flips it back to Nelson back to ritel back to Nelson again Nelson getting into the Lane wraparound pass intended for diabat somehow got it five on the shot clock down to three Nelson to the rack oh mercy a reverse slam Grant Nelson an and one opportunity and that is one way to knock the lit off here at Coleman Mercy 4639 Bama Timeout on the floor 1533 to go Crimson tied Sports network from Le field you took the first step and quit smoking but even former smokers may still is here covid-19 continues so don't wait back toate visit alabamacu health.gov slimm to learn more across the way to Roger Hoover couple of key points in this last Alabama huddle defensively taking care of things in transition is a huge priority and then on offense coach I was talking about getting the ball moving around a lot more a lot more energy around the ball is what he wants to see so all about transition defense and again energy around the ball get him moving to two major points of Brian well one thing Alabama did incredibly well in the first half has turned defense into offense something they didn't do Saturday against Tennessee and they haven't done the first few minutes of the second half Auburn efficient on the offensive end they've gone to Janai broom and he has been so good throughout this game he's already got 20 points nine rebounds 9 for 13 from the field and Alabama struggling on the offensive end getting good looks Auburn gave up some open threes Alabama capitalized off of those in the first half but their defense has been really good around the basket they're defending the rim and doing it without foul and Alabama has missed some point blank looks at The Rim throughout this game Alber one of the best shot blocking teams in college basketball they haven't blocked a ton but they've changed a bunch and Alabama not confident going to the basket they're going to have to either get to the free throw line or get to the rim with uh more consistency here in the second half Brian this team this Bama team did not start great offensively in the first few minutes but boy it picked up in a big way not long after that is it as simple as seeing the ball go through the basket once or is it more a case of just like you were talking about you got to find other ways to score well when Alabama was struggling to score early what did they do they turned to their defense they got offense opportunities off of transition because of what they were doing defensively Auburn never really slowed down during that Alabama Run Shooting the ball but they turned it over and you had Mark Sears and Ryland Griffin and charl ritel in the open floor making plays this Auburn defense in the half court one of the best in the country in transition nobody's as good in transition Alabama with more transition opportunities to kind of break the the game into a double digit lead for the home team but alurn has been efficient on the offensive end and forcing some difficult shots for Alabama in the first 20 minutes but a big dunk and three-point play opportunity for Grant Nelson Nelson with a steel three boards and now Five Points as he converts the end one a big bucket and here comes the crowd again at the urging of Nate O's players and everybody else Katie Johnson nearly lost it but unloads it to Donaldson B swing it on the right side of the Tigers throw it away that's is that unforced it's an unforced turnover but it's because you're pressuring the passer you're in the passing Lan and you force a guy to make a pass just maybe a half a foot further towards the sideline any otherwise would that's why NATO wants to see defensive intensity bad pass nearly picked up by Stevenson but then he commits a foul Mark Sears thought that Stevenson didn't come to it or needed to maybe make another move but coach oats is saying they better get in there cuz Auburn's about to bring the ball in yeah got to be careful with your passes and come to the ball Mistake by Alabama Auburn's Taking Chances defensively back door cut to Johnson missed the dunk Stevenson defending well now here's ritel the other way flips it in the corner to Griffin Ryland to Nelson driving into the lane got bowled and he'll go to the line to shoot two shots smart play by Alabama had an Auburn player down after the missed dunk attempt Johnson laying on the ground Alabama had five on four looked initially to take it a little slow but got the ball to Grant Nelson who struggled mightily for the three-point line but doing what he does best attacking the rim gets fouled and gets back to the line Nelson shooting a pair for the Crimson Tide gets the first one to go perfectly six points for him he's only two of seven from the field but again three boards and a steel in 17 minutes of work while he gave up a number of buckets to Janai broom in the first half and route to 20 he's continued to battle and try to make it tough as we've got a bucket made another free throw and now we've got Pat Adams talking something over with Don Daly the two senior officials on This three-man Crew along with another veteran in KB verett what are they looking in all right another official review taking place with 14 57 to go it was a quick look and I don't know if they were trying to identify exactly who the foul was on or what it was about but whatever the [Music] circumstance first personal on Cheney Johnson they changed it couple of big plays by Grant Nelson late shot clock situation got the reverse dunk got fouled the end one this time attacks the basket gets to the line quick five big points for Grant Nelson BMA by 10 4939 with 1446 to go Donaldson looking right feeding it off toer bazer lost in the lane but they're going to say Ai and cause that fouls going to be whistled on the ties Ryland Griffin I believe they've got Mark Sears both of them aggressive against the dribbler well love the fact that it was a foul call but love the aggressiveness by Alabama Ryland Griffin Mark Sears trying to make a play on the defensive end Tigers inbound it they throw it into the paint to Brun spinning spinning spinning in shooting and scoring well that was good Patience by the veteran he just has a size Advantage KD Johnson deflected the inbounds pass out toward midcourt but it goes out of bounds touch Last by the Tigers and B will keep possession not a height Advantage an inch difference between Grant Nelson and Janai broom but [Music] a weight Advantage as he's able to use his body has great footwork in the low post and once he gets it that low very difficult to guard Bama working at top of the arc Stevenson jiren fires it to Griffin they're going to wipe off the three because they say there was a holding foul prior to that on the Tigers Baker mazara Boy that's tough that takes away three from Alabama at least at the moment [Music] good to see Ryland Griffin see the ball go through the basket again though even though it did get wiped off Bama will inbound it they do so but then a traveling violation is going to be called on Grant Nelson and Pat Adams who took the three away then takes The Possession away with the travel call right there like Grant Nelson was going to pass it to Mark Sears alurn tiger got in the passing Lane tried to put it down but may have picked that pivot foot up up a split second too early couple of tough calls both probably right but making it tough for the tide up eight with 1407 to play ktie Johnson driving right stepping back Beyond The Arc driving down the lane again fires the pass left side Donaldson three ball is good Trey Donaldson makes it 4944 as the Bama lead has been cut in half Here Comes SE front Court crosses over had it knocked away and a foul is going to be called on KD [Music] Johnson third personal on [Music] Johnson as The Tigers will make a change and they'll get leor Burman from Mountain Brook into the contest and another change it's going to be Cardwell who will come in also Dylan Cardwell the big for the Tigers here's Sears with it here's side ritel he'll drive the lane he'll get to the rim and Cardwell swatted it right back down Tigers run the other way Johnson Drive again lays it up at in for two Bama's lead is down to just three 4946 Sears driving the other way tough shot missed the layup and Auburn can tie it with a three right [Music] here front Court Donaldson going down the lane leaner off the blast no rebound Cardwell kick to KD Johnson is fre missed in the rebound fought for saved by the Tigers and then stolen away by Bama ritel with one man to beat goes in had it blocked but into the hands of the tide they'll kick it back to ritel for three Hallelujah knocking it down on the assist from Jaren Stevenson and Alabama's lead is back to six 52 46 with 12 47 to play huge play by Latrell ritell after getting his shot block Alabama gets the offensive rebound and a huge three by rightel Williams inside spin shoots misses Nelson clears that outlet pass to Sears Mark getting it front Court Mark playing off the screen nearly threw it away and did bad pass by Sears he jumped to make a pass and now the Tigers run the other way inside Burman wild shot no good but the tip follow drops in for Williams and Auburn is back toin four once again Mistake by Mark Sears you mentioned he got up two and didn't have anywhere to go with it Sears to the rim lays it up and in for two he blew past Burman who got no help defense and the Bama leads at six again as we hit the 12-minute mark the help came but a split second too late Mark able to go off his off foot the shot blocker not able to time it up Donaldson a deep three oh he banked it in in Mercy three-point game again he banked it in from 23 ft Sears the other way for Bama to Nelson to ritel now driving stepping back again giving it off to Sears Martin working shooting baking to make first three for Alabama and the tide now leads it 5751 Sears with 15 for Alabama couple of big plays after the mistake Mark Sears able to get in the lane and rock the defender back one step rise up and KN down the three Tigers get it to Williams top of the Ark he'll hand it off to Donaldson he'll stop at the elbow he'll flip it back outside to Johnson Johnson working against Griffin Johnson steps back three attempt blocked into the hands of nson who is fouled and with 1101 to go a Timeout on the floor Bama 57 Auburn 51 here in TUS scoa on the Crimson Tide sports network from learfield it takes hard work to be the best in the game planning commitment resilience sweat that's why Old Dominion Freight Line the number one National LTL carrier for Quality works hard to be the best in the game and is proud to support those striving to be the best in theirs Old Dominion Freight Line official Freight care of Alabama Athletics helping the world keep promises this is the moment you've been waiting for ladies and Gentlemen please welcome our home you step onto the court and into the spotlight the moment to show that hard work and long days pay off because when that final shot leaves your hands and we leave our seats that powerful moment connects us all Alabama power is a proud supporter of the Alabama Crimson time power for a better Alabama Bama's up six 11 minutes and 1 second to play over alurn 5751 T-Mobile is proud to bring 5G to hometowns across the SEC T-Mobile is a proud partner of the Crimson side Roger Hoover across the way looks like this one's going to go 15 rounds yeah absolutely a lot of energy right now in the Crimson TI hle that was a long stretch about 5 minutes of basketballs for these guys definitely a little bit tired at this point but intensity once again the focus of this Alabama huddle and really doing all the little things defensively it starts with rebounds that was a key message for Alabama BR in this last time out yeah Alabama finally put in a few stops together the defensive intensity has been really high after the first few minutes it was a 70 Alburn run they got back in this game quickly after Al abama going into halftime with a 14-point lead but Latrell ritell Jr with a big three making plays on both ends of the floor what a defensive play by Ryland Griffin he's leading the way for Alabama with 14 actually Mark Sears now with 15 leading the way but Ryland with 14 points four for six from the three-point line but a great defensive play on the last possession KD Johnson trying to take Ryland 101 he got the block shot Grant Nelson got the rebound the foul Auburn with five team fouls only three team fouls in the first half and the reason that's important is Auburn is a team that typically fouls a lot they're great defensively but they send teams to the free throw line Alabama only two free throw attempts in the first half they've been to the line a couple of times since halftime Bama now five for five overall from the three-point line this is the best free throw shooting team in the SEC at 78% as a team and I thought Alabama would be able to get to the line and hopefully convert and with 15 fouls a couple away from the bonus hopefully that'll be the case as this game progresses Brian this is such a crucial time coming out of this under 12 minute timeout even though we got 11:01 to play in the second half but Alabama has been in this position against top 10 teams Toe to Toe barely ahead barely behind up 10 even at this point I believe in the matchup against Arizona but they've got to find a way to finish it in these final 11 minutes and 1 second yeah and hopefully that experience will help them I believe it will and I think something else that will help him help them are these guys and girls standing up behind us and that's Crimson chaos in this sold out Coleman Coliseum crowd it's been Electric in here and that can really help the home team down the stretch Alabama with Sears Griffin Pringle Walters and Estrada Ryland will inbound the basketball he had 14 points in the first half and the Crimson tied leads by six Sears working at front Court playing through contact from Cardwell backs it out now tries to go downhill against him goes to his right gives it off left side Griffin three ball short miss it on the right side of the rim and the rebound is controlled by Aubry Tigers working ahead to Jones leaves it back for Donaldson left alone for three it rims out a rebounding foul is going to be whistled I believe on the tides Nick Pringle they trying to get defensive rebounding position Dylan Cardwell in good position to go for the offensive board and Nick Pringle hasn't played a ton of minutes in this game gets called for the foul 10 33 to go alurn inbounds it down six Moore throws it into the paint picked up by Williams gives it off right side to Jones he drives to the top of the arc step back jumper no good long rebound goes to Jones swings it left side Donaldson Donaldson surveying the floor Donaldson driving right takes it to his left hand now back between the legs with the dribble kicks it into the right corner open look more three ball is good three opportunities on that possession for Auburn couple of offensive rebounds that's why Grant Nelson is sitting at the scores table Alabama not able to get their blockouts and Auburn made him pay Pringle being defended tightly we hand it off to Walters catching two three short rebound off the hands of pringle it was right there but it cared pretty rapidly couldn't hang on to it Walters will exit and Nelson will come into replace it for Alabama 950 to go big offensive rebounds for Auburn in the last possession Alabama's done a good job when they got the lead of defensive rebounding and taking care of the ball here in the second half not nearly as good a job Bama up three Auburn with the ball Jones with it giving it off top of the circle to Donaldson pivots away from a double team to Jones left of the circle working against Estrada Jones trying to drive goes down the lane had it stripped and a late whistle comes in on Aaron Estrada he thought he'd gotten it clean the guy with a whistle D Daly didn't agree 14 fouls this half on Alabama five have been whistled on the Tigers Jones shooting the first of Two Shots able to knock it down L trell ritel will come in Ryland Griffin will exit for Alabama 928 on the clock 5755 Alabama with the lead but Auburn trying to make it a one-point game free throw up free throw rattles in 5756 now the score D oat says let's push Bama does Estrada into the front Court lost it had it stolen and driving in is donalson and he throws it down and Auburn has come down from 14 or back from 14 and the half to take a one-point lead 5857 with 910 left to play Nelson Far Side pivots nearly lost it but maintained possession dribbling to his right hands it off to Sears mark on the drive into the lane had it knocked away out of bounds touch Last by aubert [Music] got to maintain your composure Alabama another turnover just loose with the basketball Aaron estr never really had it lost Focus Trey Donal unable to slap it away in an easy dunk for the Tigers and right now it's Auburn with the momentum estr to inbound gets it in the corner to Sears Mark working against the defender plays off the screen takes it top of the AR reverses back to Estrada whistle away from the basketball it's going to be on Auburn and Dylan Cardwell holding Nick Pringle second on Cardwell 16 foul now on alurn B again has been whistled for four tied scoreless in the last 243 here in the second half and that's why their lead has evaporated that plus the quick start to half number two by the Tigers 70 run in the last minute Plus for Albert Bama inbounds it out High to Estrada back to Sears on the right wing goes Baseline gets underneath off the glass ped and he is fouled an and one opportunity for the pride of muscle schs Martin Christopher sear Mark wanted that one that'll give him 17 points eight for 15 and just willed that one in Auburn with really good defense the intensity high on both ends of the floor but Alabama's best player wanted the ball in his hands able to take the contact attack the basket finish off the glass and a chance for a big three-point play here in Estrada leaving the floor with Alabama athletic trainer Clark hter going behind the Bama bench probably little blood somewhere they'll take care of that and get him back in likely very soon as Sears converts the n one and Alabama leads it 60 to 58 with 845 to go crowd back on its feet again here at Coleman Donaldson to Cardwell hands it off to Jones and a foul is going to be whistled on Nick Pringle a reach in foul for his fourth two points four fouls and one Rebound in 10 minutes on the floor for Nick and that's why Mohammed W will come in to replace it for the Crimson tie Mohamad wagi coming off of foot injury a couple of games ago he needs to do a good job of Defending and rebounding don't need him necessarily to score but needs to be really big on the defensive end Jones working against ritel double team throws it into the low post to Cardwell throws it to Williams into the paint spinning left handed shot up and rattles in and we are tied at 60 hard to believe but I think this is our first tie of of the night since it was Zip Zip 60 a piece our score with 807 remaining Ryland Griffin driveing to the right wing gives it off to W threw it away terrible pass stolen by the Tigers here's Jones throwing a lob down low tip no good Bama controls it it comes the other way Sears going downhill gets into the paint lays it up block from behind rightel is there though to clean it up second time rell's been in the right place at the right time for an offensive rebound great defense a play by Cardwell brell with the offensive put back the easy lay in and Alabama retakes the lead 736 in ticking Bama 62 Auburn 60 the tide trying to beat their instate Rivals and the number six team in America Cardwell giving it up to Donaldson between the circles Donaldson back left side Jones three no good rebound Claim by Nelson gives it off to Sears he'll bring it front Court Mark to Ryland steps into it another bank first three for Ryland Griffin his fifth on eight tries in bama leads by five with seven minutes to go big defensive stop Grant Nelson got the rebound Ryland Griffin in rhythm in transition defense couldn't get there in time and this crowd getting into it once again 11 makes on 26 attempts for Alabama Auburn's five of 22 from three tigers with it they throw it into paint Cardwell lost it got it back shot it it was ugly and Bama clears the Miss Here Comes Nelson giving it off to Sears we do immediate time out on the next dead ball Sears on the drive underneath circles all the way to the corner brings it out to the wing says come here set a screen for me nope get it over there and maybe you shoot it Ryland defended well reach in foul on Cardwell his third and we come to the media timeout 624 to play six 65-60 Alabama leading alurn here at home on the Crimson Tide sports network from learfield Tom has 65 Auburn 66 minutes 24 seconds to go in the ball game best move of the game is presented by Old Dominion Freight Line old minion Freight Line works hard to be the best in the game and is a proud partner of the and tied BP your nomination for the best move of the game well Mark Sears taken the ball strong to the basket a couple of possessions ago it was a one possession game Alburn with the momentum Mar seer's able to take it inside late in the shot clock a foul and n one a big bucket for Alabama and Ryland Griffin also stepping up making huge threes he's 5 for eight from the three-point line he'll go to the line for a big one and one coming up after the Dylan Cardwell foul Crimson tied shooting 42% from the field for the game check that I'm sorry 40% from the field 42% from three while Albert has made five of six from the free throw line Bama has made all of their six attempts Auburn 42% from the field but Brian just five of 22 from three-point range and Alabama has only lost once this year year when shooting better than 35% from three-point range that was against Purdue in Toronto and what did Purdue have Zack Edy the national Player of the Year from a year ago and he was Unstoppable in that game and Janai broom's been pretty close to Unstoppable he's already got 22 points and nine rebounds and he'll come back into this game having rested fresh Alabama needs to do a great job defensively yes guess the threes falling are important but Alabama has been really good against some good teams when they've gotten stops the biggest win of the year so far for Alabama has been in starford against Mississippi State a top 30 team in the net a difficult place to play sold out building a team that plays with a lot of toughness the reason they got that win is toughness on the defensive end last 624 so important for Alabama to get stops defensively and we know where Auburn's going to go even though they've only made threes they're dangerous from the three-point line but got to stop number four Janai broom that's where the tigers are going to go by the way that wi over South Carolina looking better after the Gamecocks beat Kentucky yesterday the free throw missed by Griffin after the timeout and it remains a 65-60 Alabama Advantage with 612 left to play Tigers throw it in the paint to broom kicks it into the corner KD Johnson three it's a brick rebound claimed by bro and he's fouled I Believe by wag it may have been on Grant Nelson but you got players jaw with each other a little bit it's been snuffed out whatever the little flame up was I believe that's the sixth team foul against Alabama so no free throws coming up ji broom trying to talk the officials into that he was shooting that wasn't the case alurn will inbound the ball but another Second Chance opportunity got KD Johnson to miss the three Alabama not able to close out the defensive possession really hurt Bama in their last game against Tennessee it's hurting them here in the second half against alurn Pat Adams talked with KB berad and now he's talking with Don Daly oh we're going to go to the good Lord we're going to go to the video review Once Again [Music] Roger did you see anything over there did did you see anything transpire that would call for this no no more than just pushing and shoving starting to take a look at it now on replay again wag had tough contact with broom he gets up gets right in the face of wagi now the officials have the headsets off so the decision's been made pretty quickly it appears from Birmingham we'll get more in just a moment I think it's just a common foul is what they'll go with on that so they'll just inbound it nice job over there Roger to uh keep an eye on that our Cooks Pest Control sideline reporter as we've got 606 remaining in the contest 65-60 Alabama with the lead but Auburn with the basketball foul was whistled on wge his first as Brian told you the Team Six six on the tide eight had been called on the Tigers Auburn inbound it for the Baseline Johnson to trigger it in does so out High to Baker mazera they get it to broom in the paint broom backing down spinning tough shot got it to go and he's fouled by wge well that's a nice move that's a patient move as well he's turning back over his right shoulder with his left hand every time he sets it up with a fake like he's going right he's not he's coming back to the left muhamad wagi in pretty good defensive position was physical down on the low block and Janai broom has been almost Unstoppable in this game he's got 24 points and a chance for 25 at the line broom's only a 62% free throw shooter on the year he did make his only attempt in the first half free throw up here and good and and he converts the n one to make it a two-point game 6563 Bama looking for a bucket double team coming Griffin dribbles away from it finds Nelson fakes a back door look gives it off to Griffin again Ryland stopping popping short on the three attempt rebound by Johnson and the Tigers will push it KD Johnson stopping on the left wing trying to go Baseline trying to step back swings it over to broom top of the Ark broom lets fly from three brick rebound claimed by Nelson in B will come the other way here comes Sears front Court throws it to Griffin spins past the defender Sears deep ball too strong rebound and a foul is going to be whistled on the Auburn Tigers a one in one up coming for Bama I think it'll be Mohamad wagi trying to get offensive rebounding position another one and one ran Griffin missed a crucial front end led to a three-point Point play Alabama had a chance to push the lead to seven instead a two-point game after the and one by Janai Brun Bama missed its last free throw try the front end of a one and one W hits this one though Brian big fella is a good free throw shooter he's at 77% coming into the ball game and now over 78 with that make Alabama in the double bonus the rest of the way and hopefully the sec's best fre throw shooting team will get there here late in this game both free throws good by wag and bades by four with 520 to go crowd on its feet again here in Tuscaloosa broom left side to Johnson top of the circle they'll feed it to Donaldson or a tripping foul on W actually with Holloway trying to move away from him but Holloway will earn his trip to the line to shoot one plus the bonus andw will exit to re be replaced by The Freshman Jer in Stevenson H away an 82% free throw shooter that is a mistake by Alabama not a ton of contact but unfortunately it'll be Auburn back at the line big one in one coming up for a really good free throw shooter in [Music] Holloway Holloway the one and one free throw up and he rattles it in 6764 Auburn now seven of eight from the free throw line Bama eight of nine second free throw up [Music] coming and it's good 6765 Bama's lead cut to two 58 to go here in Tuscaloosa colan Coliseum Bama leading sixth ranked Auburn and trying to add to that Advantage Ryland Griffin slips kept his dribble alive though being defended by Johnson gives it off to Sears 12 on the shot clock Sears now working against Johnson goes left crosses over hesitates steps back five to shoot working against Brun a deep three too strong rebound tipped twice into the hands of Griffin Ryland driving into the lane stepping through and lost the handle and Auburn has it with a chance to tie or take the lead with three great effort by ran Griffin another crucial Alabama turnover great defense by Auburn to knock it away tigers have it up top Baker maera stopping at the elbow stepping through leaner is up and good and we are deadlocked at 67 tied with 41 and moving here in Tuscaloosa Sears with it working between the circles Mark calling for a screen will start downhill against Brun gets to the rim off the glass and in what a move Mark Sears the muscle shs native gets it done it puts Bama back up by two with under four minutes to play Alabama has struggled with at The Rim twos against the shot blockers of Auburn but Mark Sears able to finish over Brun Johnson throws it left side to Holloway Holloway against Sears to Johnson Johnson flips it back to Holloway a deep three left side no rebounded by Griffin B ball 333 to go Sears bringing it ahead trying to add to a two-point lead Mark surveys the floor the defender on him is Baker maera Sears takes a deep breath 15 on the shot clock Sears says give me a screen Grant he does he plays off of it he has it at the elbow he has it now on the near Wing over to Griffin six five Griffin at four at three at two lost it picked up Nelson laid it up no tip follow oh wait wait a minute they called a foul they did call a foul thank you I thought it was going to be a shot clock violation but Nelson had clearly gotten that one off two free throws upcoming for Alabama Brian go ahead with your thoughts well it was a great job by Ryan Griffin because late shot clock situation it looked like it was going to be a shot clock violation because KD Johnson's defense against Ryland Griffin but Ryland able to get it up on the rim Grant Nelson with the offensive rebound he'll go to line for two after the break three five to play Bruce in full Thro as Bama leads the Tigers 6967 on the Crimson Tide sports network from learfield hey folks Bob bomhower here we're extremely proud that bomhower one of these Alabama huddles he emphasized several times just to make sure the message would stick three stops wins this game wants everyone to crash the glass as hard as they can both ends of the floor but especially on defense he's talking about how three stops will win this game with Alabama up two Brian only 305 to go yeah a couple big free throws coming up for Grant Nelson who's done a lot of things in this game hasn't shot the ball well but he'll go to the line a two-shot foul with 305 to play and defensively it is about getting stops and easier said than done with the way ji broom is playing in this game he's got 25 points 11 for 16 also 11 rebounds alurn has gotten on the offensive glass got some Second Chance opportunities here in the second 20 minutes Alabama needs to stop Janai broom hard to come with a double team because of the way that alurn shoots it surrounding Janai broom now Auburn hasn't shot the three at a high percentage in this game but tough to come with a double team because of the shooters of Auburn on the [Music] floor Grant Nelson at the line shooting two free [Music] throws first free throw up coming for Nelson and he knocks it home I know he's probably seen an Alabama Auburn game at some point his life prior to tonight but he couldn't know until he played in it now he does but unfortunately he can't make the second freebie in the lead stays at three for the tide 70- 67 proud again Rising is one here at colan Holloway to Williams swings it over on the far side to broom broom picks it up lets a cutter go by gives it off to Baker mazera Baker mazera spinning away from trouble going down the lane wild shot no but is fouled mightily by Grant Nelson got his money's worth but what is foul number two on the night on Grant in Two Shots up coming for Chad Baker Mazer Baker Mazer the number one free throw shooter in the SEC dribble hand off faked it to Janai broom and Grant Nelson came over exactly what Bruce Pearl wanted Baker mazera at the line his crowd get into it it's the sec's best free throw shooter free throw up and free throw is perfect the left-hander able to get it to drop a junior from Santa Domingo in the Dominican Republic 67 180 lb in the Lefty a deep breath before he tries the [Music] second he throw up and it is no good rebounded by Griffin and Alabama's got the ball up to with 238 to go a huge possession right here gives it off to Nelson Sears does gives it now to Stevenson Jared driving into the lane stops spin shoots and it is no good but he is fouled and the Freshman from Chapel Hill North Carolina will go to the line to shoot a pair and he almost got an n one opportunity that's a big time move from Stevenson who's been up and down in his freshman season graduated early was in the class of 24 and he is getting a ton of experience in a big time rivalry that's a big time move so close to an n one able to take ji broom off the dribble couple big free throws coming up to say the least for B and he rattles it in 82% free throw shooter is jiren Stevenson for 81% coming in he's now 18 of 22 for the C losing tide trying to make another one here free throw up free throw no good and Bama misses two of four attempts in the last 30 seconds but they lead by three with 222 remaining defend without fouling Auburn with a basketball Baker mazera gives it off right side they'll spin they'll shoot in the lane and they'll score and it's a one-point game as the bucket is dropped in for two by Jaylen Williams Bama basketball two minutes left to play leading by one ritel near side Nelson a dribble to his right trying to break down broom gets into the paint throws it out Griffin Ryland with nine on the shot clock nearly lost it got it back tied up on the corner spinning looking firing missing rebound Nelson claims it for Alabama and he is fouled and PD Johnson is called for the hacks and Alabama Grant Nelson will go back to the line to shoot two as Johnson just picked up his four what a big time offensive rebound by Grant Nelson able to go straight up and down using his length and 611 frame didn't go over the back because Auburn had pretty good defensive rebounding position Alabama with a rough offensive possession got a bad shot but crashing the offensive glass Nelson gets to the line free throw up and it's perfect for Grant Nelson okay maybe not but it's close enough to perfect for me no Randy Owen but I got it right anyway free throw up free throw good that one was perfect it was indeed 73 to 70 P leading it with a minute 35 to play Holloway top of the Ark for alurn Holloway to his right a bounce pass inside to broom spinning shooting missing TI out control by ritel Mark sear says Don't Force It nearly turn it over pick it up beat it with a stick kill it now he gives it off to Sears and Bama will reset things Sears working out near Center Court a minute 11 to go 14 on the shot clock Bama trying to make it a two possession game wimp standing up in the aisle over there he's living and dying with every possession as well Sears on the drive going down the lane reverse layup no oh absolutely yes with a flush another huge offensive rebound by Grant Nelson the tip dunk in the crowd going crazy Tigers Drive in Dish Johnson fakes the three goes in tough shot no but he's fouled and we'll go to the line to shoot two with 48.6 seconds remaining in bama holding a 75-70 lead natos doesn't like the call feeling like his man there's a jiren Stevenson on the foul straight up and down is Katie Johnson goes to the line but what a huge offensive rebound put back for Grant Nelson three throw up and good by Johnson how about Grant Nelson he's got a dozen points now but a double double for the North Dakota native as he's got 10 boards to go with it Auburn trying to make it a three-point game and they do as Johnson hits him both Bama to inbound it ritel trying to trigger it gets it into Sears Mark will bring it up with Johnson defending him 44 seconds to go 22 left on the shot clock Sears defended by Johnson Sears working left dribbles away from him playing off the screen from son stops on the wing 10 to shoot Griffin fakes a three had it poked away gets it back gives it to Sears five on the shot clock Sears at four downhill shot up no rebound tipped control by Auburn Tigers down three push it ahead right side Holloway Baker bazer three it is not good but he is fouled and with 12 seconds to go the best free throw shooter in the SEC will go to the line for three and a chance to tie it up he kicked out he kicked his foot but they won't review it it's a Miss call by the crew at the worst time for Alabama first of three for Baker mazera makes that one after he missed his last attempt 7573 Alabama leading it 12.6 seconds remaining two more free throws for Baker bazer free throw up free throw good one more with a chance to tie Alabama with two timeouts left alurn with three three BR Nelson was off balance trying to get out to Baker mazara on the replay clearly kicked his leg [Music] out the left-hander trying to tie it with 12.6 to go free throw is up and he missed it and Nelson cleared it and he got back and Grant will go to the line with 11.8 remaining shooting two to try to give Bama a three-point lead again you can't assume he's going to make it as You' mentioned the best free throw shooter percentage wise in the SEC Grant Nelson may have made the defensive mistake look more like a kick out by Baker mazara but not assuming that that shot's going to go in had a block out able to go up and get it huge free throws for Grant Nelson who has been so gutty in this game 12 points 11 rebounds couple of huge free throws coming up a dozen Points 11 boards and a timeout Albert time out see if it's a 30 or a full it is a full timeout not a surprise trying to get Nelson a lot of time to think about this one Brian to this point nothing disappointing about this game we need a w that's what'll make us happiest get your thoughts when we come back after pausing 10 seconds for station identification on the Crimson Tide Sports Network [Music] what a gutty performance by Alabama after the most disappointing performance of the year in a 20-point loss in Knoxville against Tennessee thought we'd saw thought we would see this team bounce back with effort and toughness and intensity that's been the case up 14 at the half but a huge Auburn run to start the second half it has been a battle Alabama with a chance for a signature win against a top 10 team the SEC Championship in the regular season the last three years have gone through the state of Alabama with auburn winning one Alabama winning two first place on the line here tonight this is a great rivalry regardless but so much on the line in Alabama has battled against the maybe the hottest team in college basketball Auburn has won 11 straight they haven't had any of those games be played within single digits they have been dominant over the last several months couple of months of the Season Alabama with a big opportunity right now with Grant Nelson at the free throw line with just under 12 seconds to play up by one Nelson missed his last attempt but he's six of seven in the ball game tell you what Bruce using a 30 after a full it's one thing for ice it's another to go deep freeze but that's what they're trying to put on Grant Nelson and Auburn still with one timeout Alabama has [Music] two two shots coming up double bonus situation never got to the bonus in the first half we talked about Alabama has been really good from the free throw line mixed success here late in the second half some big Mis free throws really by both teams that normally make it the pressure of this game so intense the veteran Grant Nelson going to the line trying to extend a one-point Alabama lead two squads getting after each other here at Coleman Coliseum Grant Nelson the first of Two Shots trying to make it a two-point lead and he does big big big make right there this one would be even bigger with 11.8 to go second one up second one perfect oh baby do it bamma by three 11.8 to go Auburn trying to inbound it looking looking struggling getting it in but it mid port to Williams and he did he walk no B fouled him that's a little too quick I think you want to foul with under five seconds to play but Auburn with almost a backourt violation but understandably natos does not want to let Auburn get a three-point attempt up and another good free throw shooter Jaylen Williams going to the line but again the box out needed in a big way for Alabama right here is Williams an 82% free throw shooter puts up the first and all he climed it Hallelujah hit off the back iron it's no good but man you better box out right here cuz alurn may not mind another one that looked just like that that's a tough rebound to claim look out Jared stevensson on your side free throw up free throw is good Bama lead down to two with 10.8 to go ritel to inbound it careful fellas ritel gets it into Sears they trap him he spins he has it knocked away and a foul is going to be called on Albert they call it on Janai broom who did not like the call well that was almost a jump ball Auburn had the Trap Mark Sears got the ball but held on to it in the corner Auburn had the Trap jump ball goes to the Auburn Tigers great job by Mark Sears getting the ball and also avoiding the jump ball situation he does a great job of not allowing the opponent to get their hands on it Janai broom doesn't like the call felt like it should have been a jump ball situation but Mark has been huge in this game he's got 20 points five rebounds eight assist and a chance to make this a two-possession game at the line Brian two shots up coming for Alabama with one of their best players to do it in Mark Sears 20 points in the game eight assists but the muscle shows Alabama native trying to make the free throws here and I think a delay of game warning has just been given to Auburn I don't think Bruce Burl Minds it trying to ice Alabama Shooters it didn't work on the previous free throws by Grant Nelson Two Shots coming up right now for Sears Sears has only had one free throw in the game so far made it but a great shooter on the season first one up first one's absolutely perfect do that again [Music] Mark 82% shooter coming into the game if you make it you don't foul you miss three-point game foul free throw is good and Alabama leads by four with 8.6 to go Auburn's got a run Holloway getting it into the front Court Holloway driving all the way to the rim throws up a wild shot no tip no run clock it's at zeros let's get out of here Bama wins it 7975 is Alabama oh baby not yet Blitz don't get out of here just yet there going to review the clock to see if it should have stopped with 2 or three and if so Brian who's got the ball regardless it's a two possession game whether it's Auburn's ball or Alabama's ball the Crimson Tide is going to get out of here with a huge win in a rivalry game on a night where the second half did not go the way they wanted Auburn storms back take taks the lead but Alabama with toughness getting it done on the defensive end making plays making huge free throws here late they're going to put five on the clock but whose ball is it auber's ball five to go you let him inbound it and you don't move right just don't yeah no fouls don't stop the clock two possession game you don't mind if they [Music] score they'll inbound it the Tigers will from the Baseline they throw it in Williams puts it up it's good but they're going to wipe it off he didn't get the shot off in time and now flit let's get out of here and while we're at it Strike Up the Band one [Music] more Bruce ain't happy which is a glorious thing when Bruce ain't happy I'm happy understand four ramama jamas and a y Alabama and a four-point win over the sixth ranked team in America and oh by the way it's the Auburn Tigers 7975 Alabama a winner improving their season record to now 13-6 5- one in Southeastern Conference play Bas in a tie for First with the Tigers who are also 5- one they fall to 16 and three on the year we'll talk with Coach Nate oats in just a moment with Brian passing what an unbelievable effort from this Alabama team in their most impressive win of the year you know this is a huge game cuz it's Alabama Alburn first place on the line but this game was big as we talked about before the game because it was going to tell you something about this Alabama team getting beat the way they did against Tennessee in Knoxville what does this team have to them how tough are they are they going to bounce back and beat a top 10 team get that signature win this season that has avoided them so far and they showed up ready to play with toughness getting stops making big plays late huge free throws defensive stops to end this game and Alabama with a huge Victory huge win indeed for Nate Oaks Alabama Crimson tied n to it coach great win over the sixth ranked team in America yeah I mean they're good teams we we didn't have a great start Ryan Griffin came in and saved us in the first half which was great you know he can bring some off he's played well against these guys you know then I didn't think our start to the second half was very good either but we had some guys come in you know I thought Grant really stepped up there uh in the second half jiren was huge for us thought he was big obviously Sears is ready to play in a game like this and he but you know Sears riy and trelly trell's been really good for us here lately you know you look at he had 14 points nine rebounds you know Gran Nelson had a double double thought he really manned up when we needed him to so had different guys step up we're going to have to play well to win this league we had to get this one to me it was almost a must win if we're going to compete for the league we we couldn't go two uh games behind them so you know they're a good team and they're going to be ready for us when we come to their place we're going to have to play a lot better at their place coach how gratifying is it to see your guys who have been close but be challenged the way you were this week you you question them in the most challenging way that a athlete can be with some of the things you said to see them respond to it the way they did has to make you feel really good about those young men in your locker room no great I mean yeah we challenged them how how bad do they want to compete you know and then we got down we told them they were going to face some adversity same thing happened last year here we we were down big late and came back and won but you know we were down big right out of the gate and you know Ryland was ready to go I don't know if you can see the intensity on his face but he was ready to go so uh you know he came in Mark Mark Mark's got an intensity about him we just got to find the guys that really know how to compete trelly was great I thought jiren's jiren's been great the last two three games he really stepped up know all he was going for the day yesterday but he'll Grant came along ways today too so we uh we've got some stuff to work with and we got a big one at home Saturday we need we need this place rocking like this Saturday just like it was tonight this
