Clement & Florian Berthier, Menetou Salon Sauvignon Blanc, Loire

hi everyone luke here in wallingford and today i'm tasting through one of the whites in our tasting box so today the wine in question is the manitou salon from the bertier family in in the loire valley so clemont florian bertier who run the estate um we work with them directly and bring over a few different wines from them across the board they're really really fantastic value for money they've got a great everyday pinot noir then they've got accosted of general black blends a little bit of gamma with pinot and then they've got a great song ser on the white front what they're a bit more well known for are the poi fumes and songs but one wine in particular that we've always loved having in the range and never fail to to sort of be impressed by how good it is given the price is this men are too salon so it's 15.99 in a case um and it's from a little village about 20 kilometers further down the loire from song ser i got exactly the same climate very similar soils um with those fossilized marine shells that give you these really sort of pure and vibrant refreshing wines um and then in the winery they make all of the whites the same so protecting everything from oxygen just to retain all of these sort of vibrant fresh fruity um aromas and flavors so on the nose yeah really crisp very very fresh you know lots of lemon a bit of grapefruit maybe a hint of melon and then that sort of trademark gooseberry kind of a remo aroma that uh sauvignon blanc gives on the palette so delicate and so light and it's got that trademark acidity from sauvignon blanc maybe not as as searing as it once was in the past uh given the warmer sort of vintages that we've had in recent times but it's still refreshing still leaves the palette nice and nice and cleansed it's just such a sort of classic wine that does everything you want to lua valley sauvignon blanc to do and it does it at a really great price so do pop into the shop we've got a bottle open you can have a taste and hopefully you'll enjoy it and then maybe take one home with you cheers
