season more Gibbs white got the only goal of in the second half of the Reds actually made it three away wins in a row we'll discuss the game infall in the company of first of all Chris Almer from forest all over Chris how you doing great H it's funny you say three away wins in a row I didn't even think about that it technically is three away wins in a row but it's first win first away win H first clean sheet of the season so we're all happy satary night Delight it yeah I mean we won't say it was Sheffield United Southampton and Burnley necessarily but it still feels good it still feels good second guest today is uh Bal Chief in Chicago Chief how you doing uh I'm floating it's not even night time here I got the full day ahead of me this is how I like to start uh my days it's uh 11:45 here so getting a win uh in a Champions League spot at the moment so it's great stop the table we'll just we'll just fast forward to next season exactly exactly well we discussed the game and for like I say I'll kick off with some stats just to show how dominant we were for those who believe in that stuff uh they had 65% possession to our 35% which was kind of how you expect to go but we had 23 shots to five eight shots on target to one XG for believers 2.31 versus uh 0.2 felt like a really deserved win Chris what did you make of it in general just do you know what really really dominant first half performance with not much end product which was slightly disappointing because then your your heart rate goes up and you worry in the second half that things are going to fall away and sampton will get a scrappy goal somewhere but for the most part when we went into the game I was just sat there relaxed for a change just quite happy with our performance quite happy with nuno's in-game management and just delighted to get a win you know off the back of a week last week where we let Bournemouth back in the game and conceded late and could have had three points to to get a win today is massive and to get your first away win on the board as well it's just huge for confidence for the team and you know as I mentioned before clean sheet as well I'm just just very very very very very happy with the perform performance and you know Southampton kind of came into the game Scrappy they were filing us all over the place first half there was yellow cards flying around so for us to manage that well and uh not play into their hands was was great yeah Del loed uh this comment made me laugh sorry from I think it's from JJ you have moved the end of start boy Chief noticed that you you know mored into the Matrix um yeah in Ireland yeah it's it's just a dark room behind me with actual sunlight here and if I open it up it gets worse I mean was saying to me I look like something in the Matrix earlier but yeah um sorry for you're live from the International Space Station is what it looks yeah yeah basically having a bald head doesn't help because the lights of bounces off but yeah Chief you're watching in h Chicago with a group of other guys you were saying who who don't all support Forest but it was interesting watching it with them what did you make of it I I I loved it and I you know when the lineup came out I expected to see Ryan Yates slide in for danila I thought he looked so great last week when when it was Anderson in and was like okay looks like they're going to be on the front foot maybe and kind of go for it I I I thought they were going to play you said earlier in the week that we might just kind of sit back try to hit them on the counter let them make mistakes and that really wasn't the case it was it was a forest domination right from the opening whistle yeah our first half approach really surprised me the second half went how I thought it would go and we were good in the second half the first half really really positive and really took it to them which I really liked Like Chief says with um Team selection Chris I thought Yates would start minkovich re B he was kind of 5050 do you give credit for Nuno for going for the slightly more attacking option in Anderson over eight and what did you make of that Center half selection yeah I I think it's the right thing to do I think look I thought Anderson was going to start the season in the eight um I felt like today he was really good in the tackle not only on the ball turning out of trouble in the first half um I thought he was really really good in the tackle h and there was a couple of good moments where they were trying to break and he stopped up play and he broke it up I don't was good team selection uh the center back partnership yeah minkovich coming in I think you said to me there on something the other day mat you you mentioned like minkovich can slot straight in he's played 50 caps for Serbia he's played six years for Fiorentina so it was the right thing to do throw him straight in and we we'll talk about him more later he was brilliant today um yeah I think Nuno got it right from the start and I think Nuno did everything he could do to set the team up well first half it was just a case of the players end product and sort of scrapping us up top in the final third with Al langa and Hudson Ando getting doubled up by their defense and maybe us missing a couple of chances or our set pieces offensive set piece is not being as good but I think Nuno did well good team selection and it worked first half it's it's not his fault we didn't put away the goals you know no we'll come on to the first off we were really wasteful just sticking with milenovic Chief I mean Ellie Anderson I see he's getting quite a lot of love in the comments thought he had a really good game uh controlled the ball well but probably alanga was good as well but minkovich was probably my man of the match was he your stand out player or you looking at someone else no I think I think it has to be him I thought he was a wall back there it seemed like he won every ball in the air probably should have should have could have had a goal on a set piece so I I thought he had a complete game and you know he is as advertised and if you look at what Forest really struggled at last year it was balls in the air set pieces and it seemed like he really helped kind of shore up the defense um my favorite minkovich moment Chris was actually just figing injury he had cramp but he made it look like he was you know repeating PA denillo there that that's a bit of Street Savvy that we maybe lack last season and he he had something at the back leadership is it I guess I don't know it's a combination of everything as well and wasn't it just before that they chipped in a ball from a free kick and he' got his head to it clear I don't know if that was the move it was that that phase of play yeah that phase of play was good too like like you can't underestimate a defender's positioning most of the best defenders have ever played in the Premier League you know Rio Ferdinand John Terry etc etc they're all known for their positioning that's what makes them good center backs and a moment like that I saw the angle from behind the goal again when they when when I was rewatching it as he was down finding injury so to speak and I just thought that's that is defensive that's defensive effort right there like literally the other the striker has his arms kind of around him and he's just leaning back and he he big strong header away so he really impressed me he impressed me in the big moments obviously he missed sort of a semi-open goal there in the first half which was poor but he did what he was meant to do well defended really well decent on the ball positioning is so underrated uh for defensive players and his positioning was unbelievable today and he was really really good he could have been man of the match great debut for him yeah really good really good really good first half as well I guess the only downside Chief was we probably could have gone in two nil up three nil up even we we were we were good we just wasteful yeah I I I look at I I'll settle for just being on the front foot and and coming out for it and I think the goals will come I really I do believe in this attacking group uh so I I think it's coming and it's just a matter of like having those chances consistently it's like one of those like baseball analogies just like do the right thing enough times and eventually the the numbers will go your way so I was more focused on the habits than the finishing and I I really liked the way they played and they got the results so Nuno and everyone else looks great and then as the season goes along I think the chemistry will build and we'll we'll be finishing those chances I think so I said I watch said it half time on Twitter if we just keep playing the same way it it'll come and the question was can we and we didn't really second half Chris but we were still good in a different way were we I felt like we were Scrappy the first 10 15 minutes of the second half we were letting them into the game a bit more we were losing those loose balls in the middle of the park we weren't being Savvy when we were getting out wide because we found more space I felt second half on on on both of the Wings but we just that final product that final ball and that knowing not to necessarily go forward all the time alanga had a couple of um he had a bit of trouble on that right hand side at times cutting in h he had one really good offensive dribble and then there was another couple of times where he did he was losing the ball and they were getting Transitions and it was it was difficult for us so I felt like we were a bit Scrappy first 105 minutes but then we got hold of the game um and the next 10 15 minutes the momentum swayed back to us and I felt nuno's ingame management at that point in terms of getting sangari off when he needed to like sangari had a good first half but second half he was he was on a yellow card he was giving away free kicks he wasn't getting to lose balls and I think that was kind of the the moment where you know you needed some in game management even you me everyone was screaming for it and he did it and uh yeah no I thought he didn't pull pull pull the parachute and hit the panic button but he made substitutes of the right time so we we did get hold of the second half but initially when we started we started a bit slugo shap the blocks which hopefully will because those first 15 minutes are really really crucial in in the second half of any game um just a couple of P points to pick up on that people are noticing in the comments uh jot Silva I saw I think um Rafi was saying he came on he's already played for his Portuguese team so he can't go to Olympiacos on loan I'll say that now while I remember because that is uh muted and we're also could be signing um camo C from Porto who might Goos I'll pick that up on Monday because it hasn't happened yet but um just to note that and uh there was second point that I wanted to know and now I can't see it which always happens in these things I'll come back to it I'll come back to it um well something Chris said there Chief about are we just this is a wider point about the team are we a little bit ruthless and this is the and lacking ruthlessness sorry this is a wider Universal Sporting point but probably the top teams are ruthless and that's another thing in our development longer term do you think yeah I think we saw it at times today and I think you see it from certain players I think minkovich has some of that yat certainly does like he came in and it just the game felt safer when they made that made that switch and he had the dribble down to his own Corner he's tugging at the guy's shirt he he's all over him and then he takes the foul and it was like that to me like took the air out of the game it kind of gave momentum back to Forest and it's like you need the smart plays and you need the the moments with I thought Gibbs white did did a great job of this where he was winning those second balls I thought he defended pretty well when asked uh to do so so yeah I think that there is a little bit of that Killer Instinct that might be missing where it's like hey we got one let's go get another one put this game on ice and they just didn't quite uh do that today so I would that's a room for improvement for sure yeah but we won we won and we'll probably develop that point further this was the other point about Ramon Sosa um he trained so I don't know what maybe he's just not deemed um match fit yet so another one we've got uh Newcastle in the cup and we'll we'll touch on that at the end but maybe he comes back into it just going back to Midfield discussion because CH raises good point about Ryan Yates I thought he's really good when he came on um what do you make of sangar Chris good first half but yellow card seemed to throw him I thought he just went a little bit to Pieces is that a challenge of playing six in the Premier League when players are swarming you and you know you can't but you know one hour and you could be off he seems to fade in the final third of games I find or even the you know I felt like even last week H he had a great first half and then second half he C kind of just like faded a little bit into the background and he it felt like he was getting tired which is fine you can you can have a six do a really good job for 65 minutes and then bring on a Ryan Yates um so like I'm fine with it but he did he did fade and there was a moment in that second half maybe five for about five minutes where he just kept away giving away free kicks and everything he seemed to do wasn't working um so yeah look I don't think it's a worry I wouldn't be worried about it I think I'd like to see 70 80 minutes from him um I'd like to see a whole game from him but you know it's good to have him to come in first half he starts games really well I just just need to see him be a bit quicker on the ball in second half he just feels a bit sluggish and tired and I think that's and you know for for the for that matter of fact Dominguez when he came on a similar problem he came off the bench and couldn't get into Rhythm he seems to start games better than he comes off the bench with so I don't know um not not too I'm not too worried about it like that's going to happen players going to have those those moments in games and Nuno made the right up so I'm happy enough with that also there was a couple of nice defensive headers that he made from set pieces sangari first half particularly I noticed he was he was right there we need that like we can't just be relying on our tall center back milenovic to get rid of the ball like that we need people like wood or sangari to be back there and he did do stuff in the game that not necessarily everyone would notice so look I I felt like a reasonably good game but it was time for him to come off yeah good first half I thought solid first half um and yeah this is a side tangent the youth who came on for Southampton is it dibling he was absolutely Sensational you know he was really 18 yeah he gave Dominguez a tough time I thought Dominguez was fine when he came on uh but he the kid had his number so yeah that's just a a side tangent what's your take on sangar second season Chief now we're we're seeing a bit more of him uh he's a little jackqueline Hy you know first half he looked how he kind of did in the preseason and then second half he looked kind of how he looked last year and it and maybe it is a fatigue thing maybe maybe the lights get bright and the pressure ramps up where they they know they're trying to hold a goal and he he seemed like he was always maybe a little slow to react maybe doubting himself not playing on Instinct uh so there's that you know the cliche is you know players don't get better they get more consistent so I think that's going to be his challenge is can we have that you know that level of the first half more consistently and do it into I don't mind if he only plays 70 minutes you know and bring Yates on I thought that was kind of perfect uh but it would be nice if he could just you know because there there are flashes where it's like this is a player this is a six he's going to take us up a level and then he also makes you very nervous so we we'll see I I I'm encouraged I would say uh certainly more than I was last year uh so hopefully he can just continue to grow with this team yeah I think that's fair I think that's fair and yat absolutely loves these games Chris as well there was one in the corner where he won a foul well I think he he fouled Barett and Diaz where he just fell on the ball and he gave a bit back to the Southampton f fans because that was a real Ryan y scenario I thought wasn't it and him and Anderson and again just to reiterate I thought Anderson was was was really good solid like seven and a half out of 10 performance but uh yet yaty was good and and really helped manage the game better better than we did against Bournemouth I guess yeah like obviously a bit of an aerial presence as well so defensively if they start winning set pieces late in games which is inevitable when you have the the lead A team's going to press and win set pieces it's good to have them but I just felt like you know the good thing about bringing yat on last 20 25 minutes is you know he's going to go down and win a f you know he's going to get stuck into their players s Hampton had been making a weird kind of dogged game early first half maybe partially through the second half as well where they were getting stuck into our players and I think some of our lighter players were getting tired by that so I just felt like you bring a yat on he gets stuck into them he gets right up he's pressuring them when they're on the ball as well in the Midfield which is what you need you need that kind of pressure can't let sit back and let a team spray the ball around for 20 minutes and let them come at you you've got to try and take the initiative and I I just felt like he's I feel like he's brilliant at that that's who he is he loves an away game he loves getting in and stuck in and dogged and rugged him we still have the technical players on the pitch we still have the Al langas and the Hudson the doise and the Gibbs whites to do what we need it's okay to bring a player like Yates on and get him to do the dog work that he did today uh so yeah I I felt like it wasn't a master class but and he stretched the imagination but he did the things we needed him to do which is what he always does yeah I don't think anyone was a master class which I kind of like that you know we had a lot of solid performances minkovich probably at theree of it you've escaped The Matrix yeah it's a disaster it's a sunlight it's fine it's shining off your head lovely uh no it's good it's good uh right we'll come back to some other bits around the game in a second next home game is against New Castle but next Premier League home game is against wolves on the 31st uh reminder that the Ace isn't is straight after the final whistle and I'm feeling confident we're going to win that one now feeling confident we might win both of them so get down to nav uh free entry loads of food on the barbecues and pizzas no waiting around at all hopefully uh talking about our goal then Chief it's slightly ironic I think it came from a second phase off a set piece our set pieces before then had been dire I don't know what how would you summ P set peace delivery before then rubbish it's terrible I can't I can't I can't figure it out and towards the end of last year they took Gibbs white off of them and it felt like that they did made that switch a little too late and denil uh took some and then in preseason I thought Anderson delivered some great balls into the box and he didn't seem to have it today alanga didn't have it today so it's it's a problem but you know if you we talked about ruthlessness like they were getting on that second ball a few times and the goal they cashed last week was you know yaty winning a ball smashing in a shot and wood cleaning it up and it was kind of this similar type play today whereas a scramble in the box and our guys won the ball and and finish so right place right time but also being relentless fighting for loose balls yeah I mean the reason I don't bump Anderson into the man of the match bracket was because I thought his set pieces were so bad like he over hit one he's taking he's hitting the first man so but otherwise good but um again something to work on so yeah um Pretty good overall obviously to score the goal uh Mark says uh please hit like And subscribe that would be massive help everyone thank you what do your read on the goal Chris do you give credit for Nico for nicking in there and keeping the ball alive definitely H I think there's moments in games where I worry that n nik's going to get caught out of possession or you know he's he's there's going to be space in behind him today he had a reasonably good game there was moments for sure uh where it was crappy for him but that that's a big moment in the game you know like you don't go in and win that tackle we don't get the second phase we don't get the chance the ball doesn't go back in the box Gibbs white doesn't get the header he doesn't get the you know followup etc etc it's it all starts from that and because our set pieces have been so poor it came from a corner and then came out to Nico who had actually been sitting outside the box a lot in the first half and second half so it was almost like we've worked on that at least having someone with that much space outside the box waiting for the ball to come they've probably been looking at southampton's corners and they've been packing the middle and not having anyone on the edge of the box so in terms of offensive set pieces to sort of half go back on what you said said before yeah I thought our Corners were Dreadful because you know we had seven eight Corners something like that and I felt like maybe one or two of them were threatening you need to at least have 50 60% per of them in a threatening area so we're goingon to have to fix that El Lango wasn't great on some of the set pieces either but from that set piece the one thing we managed to do well which was was was keep Neko alive in the game on the edge of the box and of course uh it worked out and he you have to give him credit for that that's that's where the goal starts and that's where it comes from obviously Gibbs white does what Gibbs white does and followed up well on his own header but yeah I think I didn't give Nico all the credit in the world for that because that's a big game moment right there yeah he was good today he was good I think I see Dan scape in the comments makes a point about not being clinical with decision making going forwards which I agree with him and Dana but generally with the spotlight on him a little bit with Moreno coming in I thought he did well another player who's always in the spotlight a bit Chief is Gibbs why interesting performance some good moments with the goal obviously probably some bad moments as well I mean he was really sloppy with the ball a couple of times what was your take on him yeah not not his best it it he does seem like a guy where I want the other team to be afraid of him and it's the same thing where you want to have that consistency where there people when he gets the ball people are backing up like how do we get him to play how he played against Fulham last year you know eight out of 10 times and it just he he hasn't found that level of consistency either but the effort is never in question for me so I feel like when when he had to come back and break up plays he did that a few times and but yeah on the ball not not his best day for sure yeah it's just those instance like we had the break I I don't know what Southampton were doing they gave him 40 yards of space and his pass to Nico is maybe a little conservative I don't know it's so hard to be critical of players in that that position it's the super top level but yeah um I think there's more to come from him certainly what about after I mean what was your take on after after we scored Chris could we even gone on on one more did we look comfortable to you or not um I felt like we could have had a couple more chances but I felt like we were playing to see the game out more than we were playing try and Win It particularly the last sort of five 10 minutes of the game there was moments where you know of course if we're in the 94 95th minute like yat did in the at the end of the game drag it into the corner try and win a free kick like he nearly did and didn't in the end it was the Saint fre do that that's fine but I felt like there was moments we were doing that a little too soon sometimes I kind of just want to see us get on the ball like just get on the ball pass it around control your own destiny I'm not asking us to to get forward and throw bodies forward so that they can roll us over in a transition and get the leveler I'm just I feel like and I know most games go like this when the teams won it up the oppsy gets it you sit back in your shape and Nuno made changes in order to put a back three back there that's fine but I just I would love to see us if we're running up with 105 minutes to go to kind of do what the sort of elite level teams in the Premier League do which is get the ball pass around make them come to you and and just slowly build and build your own attacks and sort of defend from on the front foot so to speak I was a little nervous because that's what you are as a farest fan you saw what happened last week to to many the back of your mind you're always thinking oh gosh are they gonna are they gonna crash the box and score against us again late but uh for the most part we managed it well I felt like I do feel like Dominguez I'm not trying to pick on him today I just feel like he he got caught out a lot in the middle and there was a lot of transitions from him stepping in and out of space and letting them roll him over couple of free kicks he gave away but he is good energy so I understand why we made that substitute usually he is good at that breaking up play but uh yeah look I I I was nervous right to the end like any farest fan is um but we handled it well and it's good to kind of come through those tests as well I find it's good to get a test like that come through it come out the other side and go right we can hold on to wins we're not going to be undone easily at the end you know is the thing as well Chief because I don't think like Southampton aren't the best team we play in fact on the basis of that they might be the worst team we play I don't know but actually this is another thing is translates across all sports once you get a win like that you know you can do it and maybe gra you're doing that three four five more times hopefully yeah and and that's another area for Forest to improve over the last couple years where they gave away more points from winning positions I think than anybody else so being able to you know it's a put the game on ice and I would have loved to have a second goal I feel like alanga had one on a break I think this is one where he kind of shot it right at the goalkeeper after he cut inside he was cutting inside a lot today I felt like more so usually he kind of Sprints wide to the right and uh but we didn't see that that much of that today but yeah certainly and I think that's that's growth and maturity and maybe comfortability now with with Nuno where it's like all right like everybody kind of knows their role knows their job um and we can kind of close out these games so yeah it it was great to secure three points from a winning position when you were the the dominant team today so just take the three points and run it to the bank yeah he could have squared that one he heard you even heard Chris W screaming Anthony when he he should have squared it or Chris W who screamed that because I thought it was I maybe it was Ward yeah was black post wasn't he and in the CER I think like kiwi twang maybe I thought it was yeah it was wood what did your make of the Wingers Chris overall because um I thoughta was really good I think Chief's absolutely right he cut in a lot probably should have squared that one Hudson they're doubling up on him and he's always you know what he's looking to do all the time he only managed to do it once um but it kind of Might free up elanga to be more of a threat on the right yeah I think at that point look I think I actually think alanga was doubled up on a bit as well first half specifically um I think that's where you need your your fullbacks to kind of help out if if they're getting doubled up Ana and Williams should be going on the overlap so that that that then drags those two Defenders who are doubling on huton ad DOI or or ala out of position and then it gives them space and freedom to do do something else so I just feel like if you know the amount of times in the over the course of the last few months particularly last season we've given the ball to hson do G all right go to work or G all right go to work and now that they've kind of G right we've got a double up on these two because they're quick pacy skillful players who are going to cut inside or go around the outside now that that's happened it obviously we've seen it in this game they plan for it so you've got to have uh sort of a backup plan and the backup plan is get your fullbacks forward on the overlap and worry them get them going right down that line which I I don't think we saw enough of today if I'm honest with you um Mi comments on Tyro in the chat as well Chief some people saying he looked really sharp when he came on some saying he looks half fit I was kind of in the middle what what do you see in him right now yeah I thought it was both I thought there was one time where there was a clearance and it was a it was a free ball and it was you could tell langa was running on fumes and it was like Big T man like go get that ball big fast like go get it and like that was that was a moment and then you know Southampton got the ball back started going back the other way so there were moments like that and there was again it was the one where Yates ended up in the corner where I was just screaming at Tai just take that ball because he cut it inside was looking for a chance it's like just take that ball use that big body and box people out in the corner and just kill this game so there were a few moments but I do think that he brings that raw athletic presence that is so dangerous that I I W has earned his shirt with his time here but as soon as Taio if they deem him ready to go and start I do think Forest is a better team with 70 minutes of taiwo uh than than Chris Wood so I I hope they're he can stay healthy and they ease him back in especially if this and CAD deal doesn't get over the line uh so I I love Taio I thought he had his moments today but he he always leaves you wanting a little bit more and there and some of it was might have just been decision-making and and being able to read the game because alanga was never going to get to that ball I think that was in like the 93rd minute or something like that so yeah I know the one you're referencing and I totally agree I think it was even the 97th minute it might have been it was super late in the game and that had me sharing at him yeah I know what you mean and I agree um T I'm still totally on board with Tyro I thought that he looks like he's making progress but Chris Wood was good and um you mention Anda there slight maybe spaning the worst because Gabrielle Jesus is out and it says on the Arsenal official Twitter slight groin issue and K is on the bench I think as Simon says in the chat so hopefully that doesn't Scupper things uh we'll kind of monitor that through the week um we'll tell yeah we'll come on to transfer shortly just get your take on the final couple of minutes Chief in terms of nerves I think Chris is a nervous Watcher of football in general I was more chilled out than I was with the Bournemouth game because I didn't see South Hampton carrying a threat which I know is always a dangerous point of view but um how are you feeling just in the final few minutes oh my knuckles were white I was gripping gripping the C couch gripping the table I had I had a water bottle ready to throw I was like all right I got to be ready to be angry here so uh yeah I I don't know if I'll until they're up two in the last minute I don't think I'll ever really feel safe so that was it was a very nervous and I they defended I thought very well today I love the substitution going to a back five there but no I did not feel comfortable they slid one across uh you know the six-yard box there where it was like oh he could have got he could have nicked that one and gotten the defle into the goal so I was very nervous until the whistle blew I yeah I yeah that's a very fair point about the cross about um yeah what do you make of nuno's game management this this game Chris people got some Flack last week better this week with the subs or not no it was good I look I I to be honest look in game I I changed my mind all the time I go why isn't he doing this or why isn't he doing that even at the end I messaged you saying oh listen why is Nuno gone to a back three this is looting away all over again where he's sitting back then of course it worked so if I take a deep breath look back I think he made the subs at the right time and that's probably the be the biggest part of in game management is your substitutes and he he did them well at the right time yat came on for sanary at the right moment when Dominguez come on it was the right time for him to come on even though he didn't have his best game I felt like we were all screaming for to to come on as well Anderson did look a bit tired when he was coming off as well so it just the right Subs at the right moment Chris Wood got a yellow card at some point there in the second half good yellow card smart yellow card I like it I like it a lot I Know Chief would be he'd be into that because he loves his hockey so just take a player out if you have to but I I so I felt like Chris Wood could have come off five minutes later and he didn't he left them on knowing that he's experienced enough not to make another stupid tackle and it was just a strategic tackle so there was lots to like about his substitutes his timing of them and his in-game management in general was pretty good I do worry about that sort of like halftime moment where he bring at half time and when they come out they're they're a bit sloppy and I don't like seeing that um that that does seem to happen to us a lot under newo so we'll have to figure that out and manage it but for the most part he did everything right and you know we've just come off the back of losing our number eight last week in denillo um Alan and Ana he'd have to monitor their Fitness as well because they came off in the second half last week so how he sort of mapped it out today was was was really good and he deserves credit because we will we will go at him if we drew that game one all today but we have to give him credit for going away and getting a scrappy one-nil win uh at Saints their first time game in the Premier League this season and I think it's much more comfortable go to a back three when it's baly coming in so then you you know as opposed amab belli or whoever that was in that rotation last year where it's like all right we got a a veteran guy who's good in the air put him next to minkovich next to Millo and and let's close this game out so I I think the Train the business this year has been it seemed like they address a lot of areas and you're were talking about you know using the wing backs it feels like that's where Moreno is going to slot in so when you have that's going to be a weapon when when Hudson adoy checks in and you got to worry about Moreno break into the by line they they could be they're going to be a lot more dangerous in the next couple of weeks as he gets uh gets ready to go yeah definitely they should be like Hudson Dy Cuts in and now he's got a really good option on the overlapping because that sounds like Moreno's game so it creates two it creates a double threat so I'm looking forward to that and I didn't have a problem with the back three this time I did against Lu massively um when it was Felipe coming on but he like Southampton didn't have so much of a threat and I felt it just helped us manage it because they were going to toss balls in the box and they didn't have big guys so if you throw an extra Center half it just helps see the game out so yeah no complaints there people asking if I triple Captain's Harem in FPL State no I didn't and I did say to Chris this morning should I should I and I didn't yeah you you asked me if I was thinking about it and I said I haven't thought about it at all of course he he bus what was the score 3-1 in the end way he competes the way he everything he does so uh yeah I just I I I know he's gonna have a big role this in this team and he did it perfectly today did it perfectly last week part of me just thinks that they're just it's an intangible but they are a slightly better team a safe team when he's out there um correction harand did get a hat trick today yeah I thought he had the fourth I wasn't going to say it if I didn't know but I thought he had for want to break his heart I think you should because of that now you should have to go back into the go back to the space station if you can because of that go dark um what I was gonna say I just one more thing about the game I I like so Chief singles at Roy and Y Gibbs white didn't have his best game today but he came up big and he follow in the second ball he got up for the header and then got in for his second ball himself to score the goal Gibbs white does that I put him in my fantasy football team because I said to Matt beforehand you know what Gibbs white got 10 assists five goals last season over the course of a season he'll get like one goal or assist every second game minimum uh and he came up big today so despite you know there was a couple of really nice moments from him and obviously other sloppy moments but for the most part you have to give him credit he was there for that goal when our forwards or Wingers could necessarily put it away so I just want to just put that out there a little bit of a caveat on his performance that he won't be happy with but overall he's the man who came up big late so I love the celebration as well I think I'm Duty bind to put super Chats on the screen so um where's it gone hang on one second there it is uh thanks very much to miss foran podcast give me another 30 quid uh League as it stands so yeah Champions League here we come here we come so it's worth putting that up just for now uh like I say Newcastle and wolves coming up and the trans transfer deadline chief on Friday it feels like a big week in the context of the season if we particularly on the transfer front if we smash this week then it it could set us in good stad yeah I've talked myself into intia uh Dan White who's uh you know Forest New Jersey now he sent me this thread about uh Ina's movement and all I could think about was what that would mean for Morgan Gibbs white if you had a guy that could move and they can develop that chemistry it just you talked about what the five goals and 10 assists and I think that he would unlock help unlock Morgan's true potential so I really want that now I I really hope that that doesn't fall apart of the deadline everything else I feel like they're they're pretty set like they've done a they've done a really great job um kind of Shoring up some of these weaker areas and seeing what Anderson did today didn't make me feel like they'll miss danello that much or or have a need to replace him so yeah I hope it's uh I hope I hope they get in kedy over the line and then it's all systems go yeah I agree I just like one striker one signing away makes it like a really big window it's been really good window already Chris I think just by virtue of not losing Gibbs white and Murillo we've added some some depth just that one player whether it's Uno I know people have got their doubts about him but someone who can probably make take us to a slightly higher level uh in the starting 11 and then it's a fantastic window but what what what are you hoping for this week uh yeah that's the same thing I mean I I worry based on sort of what happened with danillo obviously um last week I worry about the the Midfield a little bit um Dominguez will come good I'm sure of it um and Anderson obviously did come good today so hopefully those two can cover that position for now and yat obviously played a bit of it last week I I would love another midfielder just just in case um because I loved having the there I was like our midfields fine now but it it's that's one more position I'd look at H other than that we're fine you know we've got the fullback in and the striker obviously is the big position so yeah I Savvy window like seriously Savvy window to get someone like minkovich in for the price we got for and seeing what he did today is ridiculous uh and our outgoings were good as well we sold niat and mangala for more than what they're probably worth um and yeah Anderson as well like all the signings have been fairly steady smart well thought out and they came in early as well I like that it's not like they they're coming in the last week of the window and then we're crashing them in we've had them in early we've had a lot of them Incorporated in preseason as well so for the most part I'm I'm delighted with the window and uh delighted with things are panned out and you know I'm just thinking we're undefeated you know what I mean only two games in but you know we go to wolves we beat them next week three go to the international break we're climbing the table it's it's just delightful you know uh was a good comment here yeah I agree with this one minkovich could be he could be huge for us he could big difference he was he made a big difference today I think and I'm not obviously Willie baly was unlucky to lose his place and I think he's got a big role to play if that's minkovich is kind of level then I'm yeah in the in the cup here against Newcastle just to see what he's like in a full game where maybe he actually gots some work because he never I don't know if he had to make a save other than that that uh penalty in the preseason so I I would like to see what a 68 goalkeeper looks like in the in the Premier League uh so yeah but I I I think it's just for me it's just a striker it's just really in CER and then I'll be Satisfied thoughts on Newcastle Chris because like we could play Miguel it's an interesting test as well because I I think like Southampton were bad today so I don't want to get massively carried away but we were good and that's the main thing we were good and we deserve to win but Castle an interesting game where maybe Miguel plays maybe J gets a start maybe Sosa gets minutes off the bench how are you feeling about that game yeah I think we've got to experiment a little bit don't we and I'm not saying the cup isn't important it is we've done well in the cup not torcy over the last couple of years FA Cup semi or FA Cup quarterfinal League Cup semi-final but I I do want to see us experiment a little bit and I I also don't want us to do anything um too rash in terms of like trying to play our full starting team purely because we've seen what happened last week we had a couple of injury scares with Ana a couple of times today even a little bit as well and I just don't I want to keep our team fit for the Wolves game and then after the international break as well hopefully so yeah I think I I I would start Miguel yeah and I think s has done all right by the way I think he's done perfectly okay but I would start Miguel I would experiment a little bit um I would wrap a couple of our key players in cotton ball let them rest during the week uh and and see see how we come out of Wednesday's challenge uh just before we go or start to wrap up do us favor you haven't already there's 500 people watching so uh hit like on this video I know I say every just seen wolves are play yeah Wolves playing tomorrow so webly can't look into that that they've gotel at home which is an interesting game would you play Mareno sorry I ask you guys would you play Mareno on uh on Tuesday against Newcastle I'm not checked if he's had a full preseason if he has then I think I would I'd give him a start and give him 60 minutes if he hasn't I'd give him 30 minutes and maybe he starts after the international break what about you Chris I'd probably give him some minutes but I would start probably TFO left back keep a off for now and maybe start Williams and then get morrera on after 60 minutes is a good show I'd like to see him get some minutes as well he looks good yeah yeah yeah it's worth it certainly then you don't want to be too you don't make too many changes because the Carib cup like it's a competition where you can have a good run if you get this is a tough draw but the next draw might be better and new the way Newcastle view it we'll discuss this more in the week but Newcastle are like there's pressure on Harry to win a trophy soon so I think they're G to come with quite a strong side because they can't keep losing Cup games early on um have they played today yet I'm not really follow tomorrow morning morning for me morning for you morning for you so yeah true true did I ask you if you got any final thoughts Chris or not I can't remember if I did no but look I I think at this point in the season every year that we've been in the Premier League which is three now uh I've always the first couple of games just gone please God get the win I never say it out loud I never say I'm just looking for a win because I I I really secretly just want that win to get over the line because if you go on a bad run in this league it can be really bad and look the last three seasons we got a win after the first two games I think we beat West Ham at home then last year was Sheffield United at home and this year is sampton away so to get that win on the board is really important we didn't do it last week we bounced back well today and it's an away win as well and a clean sheet which kind of turns a few of the narratives straight away didn't conceive from a set piece kept a clean sheet on and away game so there's lots of narratives that you know we like to look at as fans and they can put pressure on the team as well and today we've dispelled all those myths hung on for a dogged win away at Southampton we don't have to go there again now we can take them home in the second half of the season and beat them again so I'm just absolutely delighted to get off the mark That's the big one for me we're off the Mark we're going um we'll go chase down Wolves at home next week now yeah yeah it was yeah I totally agree big big to get a first win big to get off the mark big to get four points on the board takes the pressure off the Wolves game it's an opportunity now just lastly on the game Southampton to generate a lot of noise they put safe standing behind the the game the ground I'll see what Greg made of it there talking of atmosphere Chief I randomly about like midnight ends up watching like the 97 Bulls NBA Finals waron intros with the music I absolutely love it and to me it's like arguably the best sports intro in the world and we can't really do it in the Premier League we have open air Arenas but I know they do like college football NFL amazingly so as an American Sports ofici shardo who has come to love the Premier League what is the best intro in all of sports that is a great question I used to love that Bulls one too but I I think anything indoors you know is going to take a a backseat to what goes on in college football college football here is is religion especially in the Southeast they all kind of do it a little bit differently I'd say Virginia Tech they all they come running out this beautiful old stadium to uh Metallica Enter Sandman and then with Wisconsin the start of the fourth quarter they do this jump around where the whole student section so it's you know probably 40,000 people are all jumping in the stadium shakes and uh so college football is is the best sport for for intros uh and those to me are are two that really stick out Virginia Tech but they're all they all do something a little bit different where Florida state they're playing in Ireland today they have a um they're everywhere they're all around all the all the all the football fans are out I've been down in Dublin so they're they're all over the place the last couple of days yeah yeah so they have this their um their mascot is this guy Chief aiola was a seminal tribe they're the Florida state seminal and he rides out on a horse with a flaming Spear and spikes it into the middle of the field in the turf and then the place just erupts so the their college football is that will that will suck anybody in if you start watching and paying attention to the pregame and the passion and they got the the student ban going it's it is incredible and there's nothing else like it yeah I also thought of it because of Connie Gallagher's intro uh for Atletico Madrid where he's got like guys on Harley-Davidson's right again think and the lights I think it's just Conor ganiger so if we could do something like that we had like we had Emanuel Dennis at Rock City stand trying not to get stuck on the chewing gum I think was probably as good as we got but yeah it's interesting uh I think Glenn is in the states he says um Autumn win for the Raiders it's my favorite poem of all time and I don't care about the Raiders but that's that's a great you should look that up on YouTube the Autumn Wind is a raider it's it's and they have this guy name's John Facenda who used to be the uh narrator for all these old NFL films he's got this deep almost with a little bit of a rasp to it he's his voice will like send chills down your spine yeah and I appreciate people watching this there still 500 people we're going off on a Tang I love this stuff like I love the Brian kff video before our games like it makes me cry every time it makes me I I'd sit in the stadium I was with my my um wife when I when I went to the Premier League game against Chelsea couple of years ago and she's filming me and I'm like please stop because I just I I don't know why it makes me cry every time the way in which it's put together with the Robin Hood and then the end where it has that book book end of you know hope anybody's not stupid enough to write us off it's just H you know Wembley that was played as well oh yeah that is that's class yeah was there an emotional resonance for you Chief you came over last season in your first game and you're newer to the the club and the sport than us does that get you as well even as someone who's a bit less it hasn't been in your blood for Life yeah obviously I know who Brian KF is and I've done like the Deep dive into you know I believe in miracles and and the the history of forest it's probably different uh than you guys but it's impossible not to get caught up in it when they you know and everybody starts singing and it's that is something that is totally unique about the Premier League versus American Sports there's a lot of distractions there's a lot of stoppages a lot of whistles and you know especially baseball like you'll be having a full conversation and be like oh three Innings went by and I wasn't paying attention where when when I was in the city ground or in Wembley every eyeball is glued to the field for the entire duration and the and everybody is locked in so you have like these like everyone kind of just reacts and cheers and Unison where you get a little bit of that in in American Sports but not as concentrated uh where everyone is fully focused on the game there's no scoreboard like you know I don't know guess the attendance or whatever is going on in America where I think the in-game experience for foot your football is better than anything we do here uh let's Mo up the comments just before we go as well um Victor is an notra Dame alumni so she's on board with that um go who are the Tar Heels I don't know who that is North Carolina ah okay cool cool and um Fargo devil says uh he's got family in Dublin swords and Port monik is that anywhere near you Chris no that's that's that's that's their side but no it's it's it's cool it's a nice spot um Port Marik strand out there as well it's lovely yeah fair play anyone in Dublin Legend excellent uh Clemson that's that's a great one too so they all they ride their buses around the stadium and then so you have you have 85 to 100 guys on a college football team so they ride around and everybody knows they're riding around it's it's dark it's night and they're all cheering they're singing the fight song and then they have the they have this good luck rock that they touch called Howard's Rock and they touch it and then they run down this hill onto the field and the fan just erupt and they release these balloons in the air Clemson Clemson at night's a great one LSU at night is a great one so if you're if you're interested in college football I feel like the time difference really makes it difficult for you guys uh but college football the traditions in college football are spectacular found my YouTube rabbit hole tonight appreciate people
