top five but it's it's always top three in the end is it so I'm going to try and I don't know if you heard that click there but anyway um I'm going to try and do a top three of my um Bal contenders so that's what I'm going to do towards the end so uh yeah listen let's dive straight into this list and the first thing that came to my mind and the first thing that stood out to me is listen I don't want to sound like an old head I don't want to be that guy that keeps saying back in the day but listen I think it's obvious and I even rolled out another list I went back in time 10 years to compare the 30 man list this year and the 23 man list back in 2014 and the difference in quality and the difference in names people is absolutely staggering bro like if I can just read off the names yeah if I can just read off um the names of the balar contenders list 2014 Gareth Bell Karim Benzema Diego Costa dbo ctoa Cristiano Ronaldo and Maria Mario GZA Eden Hazard Zlatan Ibrahimovic Andre Siesta Tony K Philip L kavier Masano L Lionel Messi Thomas Miller Manuel Neer Neymar Paul Pogba Sergio Ramos Arian Rober James Rodriguez Bastian Cher and Yaya T Quality quality Galore I look at the list this season and I'm like or this year rather and I'm like I don't know man this is a bit this is a bit mey I can't lie like with all due respect to all of the players nominated yeah I don't know if some of the players have if some of the players actually deserve to be on that list and looking at the list as well yeah there's I can easily cut this down to 10 and I could have spared people that 30 do you get what I mean but let's go through the list man listen Jude Bellingham Jude Bellingham fully deserves it I believe he fully deserves it he had an outstanding season won the Champions League top score of La Liga is it joint top scorer or top scorer H I can't remember uh joint top scorer or top scorer of La Liga please correct me in the comments if I'm wrong um won the Champions League like I said won La Liga and you know it if it wasn't for that lost England final I do believe he would have been in poll position at this moment in time I don't think he's in poll position to win it but yeah like I said sometimes in football it it plays down to the smallest details and we talk about the details in a minute and you'll get what I mean but I think Jude Bellingham deserves to be on the list based on the season he's had um obviously I've criticized him a lot this season but I can't deny his greatness do you get what I mean so Drew Bellingham deserves to be on that list we go further to hakan chalano this is a strange one I'm not going to lie obviously he was instrumental in uh Inter Milan winning the league Inter Milan with a very very dominant and positive strong display this season in s and they were by far the best team like nobody could nobody could rival with them so I think they fully deserve to have won the league but I don't know for hakan Chalan to be on the Balor list I I don't know man I struggle to excuse me I struggle to accept it has he had a good season yes but just because you had a good season doesn't always mean that you have to be on the balar list now if you had a good season and you actually performed consistently over over the um the whole season and you were present in the big games and in Syria I can that predominantly means the Derby against AC Milan the big one against um what's it called the big one against Juventus the big games against Roma against uh Atlanta against Juventus do you know what I mean them type of games I don't know if I said Juventus twice but you get my point I don't always know if I remember Chalan having out having a standout performance against some of these teams now of course he was instrumental over the course of the Season yes but I don't know man this this one is a weird one so does he deserve oh and by the way I'm always going to say at the end does he deserve to be on the list yes or no does hakan shanu deserve to be on the list or do I think he should be on the list probably not next one Dan kakal 1,000% scored in the Champions League final well first of all won La Liga scored in the Champions League final won the Champions League was instrumental at his age and I have to commend him instrumental at his age yeah for Spain and Spain of course won the Euros um it looked a bit shaky at one point because he got suspended when he got that red card and I was like but then he came back and it's like he never left so um so yeah man listen Dan kakal fully does he deserve to be on the list do I think he should be on list absolutely uh Ruben Diaz or for my Portuguese people Ruben Diz um again a strange one won the league with man city was he the best defender at Manchester City I don't even think so you know I think there were other people or other other Defenders better than him last season I'm thinking of Nathan AK I'm thinking of josko gardol I'm thinking of Manuel aangi and even when it comes to the Euros was he the best Portuguese Defender arguably not actually no he wasn't because Pepe for his age had an outstanding Euros bro and I know obviously there's the age difference there and I know Pepe wanted to lead by example but Ruben Diaz you have to ask yourself questions if you're getting outplayed and out is it outshined or out shun can't remember anyway English is not my first language um if somebody else is shining more than you and that person is significantly older than you probably like by 20 years or something or less than 20 years so I don't know man Ruben Diaz is a weird one I don't know why he is on that list if I'm honest um so do I think he deserves to be on the list I would say no next one AR sorry I just I just spoke in Russian accent bro let me just keep it because I always want to pronounce people's names correctly in it but yeah anyway um Aram doik that's his name Ukrainian Striker plays for Roma now obviously played for um Jona in Spain got them their first ever top four finish qualified for the Champions League which is something they've never done before so it was the first in their history so he's largely contributed to that I think he scored something like 22 or 23 goals in the Liga last season if I'm not wrong so he was a pillar in that team and he largely contributed to jeron's success but again I'm like does that warrant him being on that list because if we're just going off oh he scored X and amount x amount of goals bro there were other players on there were other players in other competitions that scored bare goals as well and then you could probably make the argument that okay they deserve to be on that list I'm thinking of someone like um vikor Garis he absolutely tore that Portuguese league apart why is he on the list and again like I said one season one amazing season doesn't always warrant you being on the Balon list remember in my head to be on the Balon list you have to have had an exceptional season turned up in all the big games or most of them and have had outstanding performances to the point where when people look back at your season that's what people want to talk about oh yeah he was he had a standout performance this this this this in this game do you get where I'm coming from so it's a bit of a strange one to see dock in there so I wouldn't have put him on on that list if I'm honest Phil folden Phil folden um of course amazing season with Manchester City um won the Premier League PFA player of the year so I think that speaks for itself and some of the again when I think about folden immediately I'm thinking about all of the the the standout performances he's had whether it's in the Champs whether it's in the in the Premier League the Champions League against Real Madrid away yo do you see what I mean like those are performances you don't forget even in the Prem some important goals he scored when City needed a goal boom he popped up with one or two or three because he scored hattricks as well so absolutely Phil Phil Fen deserves to be on the list despite his very poor Euros I have to say despite his very poor euros and speaking of Euros Aram doik another one his I wouldn't even say Paul he had a disastrous Euros I didn't see him at all with Ukraine so um Phil Fen definitely deserves to be on it um Alejandro Grimaldo exceptional season with lusen um put in some insane numbers as a fullback I've never seen this before um unfortunately didn't play a minute with Spain but hey he won the Euros it's on his CV um but I think in the long run it's going to be between him and Alejandro Bal um is his name Alejandra as well I think it is it's going to be between him him and Bal um but to be fair gura had a fantastic Euros as well um his season was a bit no with Chelsea but with with Spain during the Euros yeah there's nothing you can say about it but anyway but yeah like I said it's not because you've had a good season or good Euros that you have to be on here because I'm talking about kuura having a good Euros but he's not on the list you see what I mean so Galo you know what based on the exceptional season he's had with lusen I would say because again there are standout performances I can think of when I talk when people talk about Galo so I would say yes I would I would have put him on the list earling harand speaks for itself and the crazy thing is with earling harand to his standards it's not a good season because he didn't he didn't smash records like he did in the first season um and he didn't win the Champions League the only thing they won was the league so um but he finished top scorer in the Premier League and um he won the Premier League obviously didn't qualify for the Euros so would I say harand deserves to be on the list probably no but it's not a no of no he's dead but no as in it could have been better why excuse me um next up Matt hummed I'm a bit surprised by this one um because I feel like they put him they put him on this list purely because of the Champions League run and don't get me wrong yes Dortmund went to the final it was it was great for them to get there but to put harand sorry to put humm on there even though I'm a big fan of him to put humm on there just because of his Champions League run is a bit wild in my opinion um yeah it's a bit of a weird one so I would probably say no not really Harry Kane again a strange one because record after record after record in the Bundesliga but he didn't win no titles and on top of that he was very unfortunate was part of that losing team England lost the final against Spain and he was part of that so yeah it's a strange one um but you can't deny that Harry Kane was in everybody's mouths um whoa pause hey yo hey yo I I take that back yo that that's wild you can't deny that Harry kan's Harry Kane's name was in everybody's mouths because of all of the ridiculous goal he scored or the ridiculous number number of goals he scored um so I would probably say yes he deserves to be on the list Tony K my guy retired from football um exceptional season with Madrid won the Champions League won La Liga was instrumental in that um I believe he was instrumental in Germany getting so far in the Euros he was absolutely pivotal in the way Germany played um so you know what yeah despite Germany not making it past Spain in the quarterfinals I would say yes he deserves to be on that list next up adola lman um adola lukman amazing amazing amazing campaign of Europa League scored a hattrick in the final but again it's another one where I'm asking myself I don't really remember having him stand out performances in S I can't really think of and I've watched a lot of ser last season I can't really remember I can't really remember him having standout performances um in in C I can't remember and I can't you can't just put him on the list because he scored a hatrick in a European final don't get me wrong it's an amazing achievement but I don't know I would probably say I wouldn't I wouldn't have put him on the list so no for me Emiliano Martinez um won the cup America with cup America with Argentina um another title with his country um saved Argentina's behind multiple times multiple times um but again his season you know what this is a bit of a conflicting one because he did have a good season with Aston Villa qualify for Champions League you can't deny stuff like this do you know what I mean especially with the season the career he's had so you know what I'm going to say yes he deserves to be on that list uh Laro Martinez Laro Martinez um I've always been at conflict with this one because I don't know man it's like he does well when people don't look at him but then when it comes to the big stage and him people expecting him to perform the lights go out and he chokes so I don't know man obviously captain of Inter Milan um won siia convincingly was part of that scored many goals but again even with Argentina I swear he only started playing because somebody got injured um so yeah I don't know man I I would probably say no I'd probably say no no he just doesn't deserve to be hon list kilan BPP now this is um this is a strange one because he has had a good season by his standards with PSG top scorer won the league top score at his Club um but again didn't win the Champions League even though he had uh important goals against Barcelona didn't win the Champions League with PSG uh his Euros with France in my opinion was catastrophic it was not good at all ah but because of his name he's going to be on the list anyway is't it because of the name so if it was up to me I would have said no but because of the name he's on the list so yeah Martin odard is on that list as well uh strange one again for me because I don't get why he's on there um if I'm not wrong it's 11 or 12 GA for the full season with Arsenal last season um okay yeah had a couple of good performances with with Arsenal but again I'm I'm trying to find a reason why he should be on here because finishing second you don't you don't you're not nominated on the balonar list for finishing second in my opinion that's what I believe um didn't win a title with Arsenal crashed out the Champions League against Bayern ghosted in pivotal games for Arsenal last season didn't turn up Fulham I think Aston Villa the two games that they lost I don't know I don't know I I personally I would say no I would say no Dano now this is a a specific one because he didn't have the best of Seasons with liik I think he missed out on injury for a month or two could be more please correct me if I'm wrong in the comments and he only played with Spain because pedri got injured until pedri got injured he was he was on the bench and he was replacing pedri when he got when B would get subbed off so I don't know even though listen the times that he did play he ended up being very important for Spain but does that warrant him being on the list like I said just because you had a good Euros doesn't mean you deserve to be on the list so I would probably say no but congratulations to to him winning the Euros he was he was very important for for Spain but like I said over the course of the full season at litic I don't know I really don't know Cole Palmer Cole Palmer now that's a that's a no break now that's a yes for me bro because bro he had a fantastic season with Chelsea didn't win nothing but cool fantastic season with Chelsea by far their best player by far I think he top scored them okay Chelsea didn't finish in a good position as a team as a whole but Cole Palmer was was a constant in that team every time Chelsea played and more often than not you looked at the score sheet and you see Cole Parmer on there every single time Euros with England every time he was on the pitch Cole Palmer was involved in a goal or made the difference or scored himself every single time so for me no brainer Cole Palmer absolute yes he deserves to be on that list Dean rice just like Martin odard I don't know why he's why he's on the list didn't win anything wasn't pivotal with England in fact his Euros with England was kind of average if I'm honest um and if you asked him if you ask him he'll probably tell you the same um because I think deon's an honest guy the same way he was honest about his red card on the weekend I think if you asked him did you have a good Euros he'd probably say nah I don't think so um and like I said with Arsenal the only game I can think of where he stood out was the game against Manchester United when he scored the winner at at the Emirates I don't know again Arsenal fans can maybe tell me otherwise please do so in the comments if you think so but I don't think he deserves to be on the list listen the next one I'm just going to say yes rodri absolute no-brainer by Far Man City's best player in my opinion one the Euros with Spain yes went off injured but bro all the games prior you can't deny he was a Cornerstone of that success of that Spain team winning the Euros absolutely pivotal so yes yes yes he deserves to be on there Antonio rudiger Champions League winner La Liga winner was very instrumental with Germany going to the the quarterfinals but there were moments where I did see a bit of frailties there were moments where I did see a bit of weaknesses so as much as I love my guy rudiger when plays for my country Germany I'm going to have to say no doesn't deserve to be on the list bukayo Saka this is another strange one because didn't win anything with Arsenal but he was a constant when he came to Arsenal was a constant but again just like odard there were a lot of games where he went missing where Arsenal needed goals and he didn't step up however with England his performances were better but then again like I said it's Define margins in it um so I am going to say you know what I am going to say yes he deserves to be on the list just because he was always N I have to keep it real man I've got to keep it real n I'm going to say no man I'm going to say no sorry Arsenal fans um William CBA uh probably Arsenal's best defender last season um was in the Premier League uh team of the season as well um by far the best defender in the league if I'm honest even though Arsenal finished second um had a very solid Euros with France um obviously up until they but Spain um so that does have a little bit of a negative effect on him but his performances can't be questioned more often than not he was always imposing himself he was always excuse me he was always there Arsenal won a lot of games because of him kept a lot of clean sheets so even with uh with France kept a lot of clean sheets sorry so you know what I'm going to say yes you deserve to be on it federo valde I'm going to say yes man he's been so important for Real Madrid not in terms of goals or assists but you always need somebody that you can rely on in Midfield and federo valde has been that guy bro he he never gets tired bro scored important goals when needed but bro he was so important so pivotal do I mean with Uruguay it was a bit even though Uruguay had a good um thingy had a good cup of America and they went all the way to the semi-finals and then played for the third place he was a Cornerstone for that team as well he was a very important part of Bea's Squad so yeah Valverde I'm a big fan of his man huge fan of it so I'm going to say yes he deserves to be on the list venicius Jr now let me start with his um cup America campaign disaster I think nobody can look past that it wasn't good crashed out in the quarterfinals it wasn't good at all and it was the game that he didn't play he was suspended for because he lost his head in in the third group stage game so venicius the only reason I'm going to say yes is because he's been a constant in Real Madrid's quest to winning La Liga and he was a Cornerstone in in Madrid success in winning the Champions League so I'm going to say yes and he scored in the final that's very important as well so yes I'm going to say yes via from PSG um had a good season at PSG had a very good season arguably their best player even even better than mbappe in my opinion um so I am I am going to say yes because in terms of Portuguese players around the world he was probably probably the best yes better than Bruno Fernandez yes better than Cristiano Ronaldo and all the other ones so I would say yes via deserves to be on it um he was good for Portugal as well during the Euros Nico Williams Nico Williams I'm going to go ahead and say he won the cup out the day with b b he was absolutely pivotal for Spain winning the Euros or in Spain winning the Euros um one of the two star boys with Lal so I'm going to say yes niiko Williams fully deserves to be on there man um scored some important goals really revealed himself to the world um by putting in these monster performances against seasoned professionals breezing past them like they weren't even there humiliating some of them along the way all the way to the final yeah he was outstanding and obviously in the in the um in the final as well did he score I think he scored so niik Williams absolutely deserves to be on him man Florian vits I did say remember I did say if Leverkusen was going to go unbeaten and they would have won all the free trophies that's Bundesliga dfb p and the Europa League I would have said that fuan VZ would have had to have an argument to be in the top five for the Balor because that would have been insane bro but obviously they lost the Europa League finals so that puts a slight minus point in um on his CV when it comes to the Ballon I should say but I'm still going to say yes he deserves to be on it because like I said fuan V was one of the top three most important players for lusin um this season and again I will keep saying it for someone who had an ACL injury to come back like that and to perform like that on the highest of levels Europa League um Bundesliga and you're going to tell me yeah it's not high level bro do you know how many times they had to come back and win games I swear there's a comp out there of how many times Len came back and always scored in the end and won or drew the game and he was always involved in those last minute games um in those last minute goals let's say if they if
