Cleveland area weather forecast: Scorching heat approaches

Of course, these dangers are lingering because we have more hot weather. Yeah, we got more hot weather heading our way as we go through the week. You remember what the high temperature was a week ago? Uh, seventies, seventies. Yeah, everyone was like so long ago it's like fall and now we have the opposite. Uh, and that's gonna be the case as we go through the week ahead. So quite a difference just a week can make to our temperatures. 72 was the high last Monday we were 10 degrees below average last Monday. Uh, this Monday 91 was our high today. So 10 degrees above the average for today. So quite a temperature swing, uh, from one direction to the other and it's also been a big swing in our humidity as well. You probably felt that difference, uh, from what we had last week to what we're starting off with this week, we do have that weather impact alert for tomorrow. It's gonna be even hotter and even more humid for tomorrow. So particularly concerning will be that peak heating time kind of through the afternoon, early evening hours. That's when we could have that heat index near 100 degrees. That's what it actually feels like as you step outside. So as you go through the day tomorrow, stay hydrated, stay cool. It's gonna be an air conditioning inside kind of day for a lot of folks. Uh, we do have a lot of those school closings across the bottom of your screen, uh, with a lot of kids already back to school and some of the buildings that just do not have the air conditioning to keep kids cool. We are gonna see the heat continuing at least in terms of above average temperatures and very high humidity. Um really as we go through the rest of the work and school week all the way through Friday. By the time we get to Saturday, we do see a break in the heat and that's gonna lead to some actually really nice conditions as we head towards Labor Day weekend. So we just gotta get through this work and school week and then that weekend does look really nice for the vast majority of your plans. Now, all of this really because we have this dome of heat and humidity that's set up across much of uh the central part of the country and spreading into the eastern part of the country as well. Uh This is gonna be what we really focus on as we go through this week. You can see a lot of the shower and thunderstorm activity is kind of along the outer edge of this storm system. So we're gonna see really limited chances for showers and storms. We're not talking about washouts, really just things that kind of bubble up with the heat of the day and whatever is left over from what happens during the heat of the day. We're gonna hold off until later in the week before we see, uh, more widespread rain chances and then the cooler air returning. So that's something a lot of us are gonna be looking forward to. Uh, in the meantime, we've got a lot of heat alerts out there through the plains Midwest and that extends all the way into our western counties. Those folks have heat advisories in place for tomorrow. Uh, really, it doesn't matter whether you have that advisory or not, it's gonna be hot and humid for everyone tomorrow. We do also have air quality alerts, uh, for Cleveland kind of that metro area into far northeastern portions of Ohio. Everyone's gonna have some of those issues for tomorrow, whether you have that alert or not. It's just gonna be one of those days. Now, as we go through the next few hours, temperatures are not gonna change too much. We're only gonna drop back in the lower seventies. So we're not talking about a lot of relief as we go through the overnight hours. And again, tomorrow is gonna be even hotter for us. We start off in the seventies close to 90 by lunchtime that afternoon into early evening time frame is what we're really gonna watch. Temperatures get into the nineties. I think we stay dry through the daytime hours with the mix of sun and clouds. If you are heading to the Guardian's game, it's gonna be a hot one out there with temperatures close to 90 degrees for first pitch National Design. Right hour by forecast. We're gonna fast forward to tomorrow night. Models have been a little back and forth with this. It's really gonna depend on what happens during the heat of the day tomorrow and what we have for tomorrow night. We're gonna watch that potential after midnight for some shower storms to come moving through. If we get some of those to develop and push through, some could be on the strong two potentially severe side, damaging winds and heavy rain, primary concerns there. Rest of that extended outlook, we're gonna keep that heat and humidity around through Friday with that at least a chance to see showers and storms each day, some lingering showers, Saturday morning and then we are looking very nice for that long weekend and into next week.
