Promises of the House of the Lord

all righty so as promised I'm going to kind of share some of my thoughts and insights on President Nelson's most recent general conference talk rejoice in the gift of priesthood Keys now he mentions a lot but I'm only going to focus on a few things because I think it's best to read through his message and to invite the Holy Ghost with you so that you can learn what heavenly father wants you to learn um one of the things that was very important to me to study was his invitation to study Doctrine Covenant section 109 which is the dedicatory prayer of the Kirtland Temple and there are a few things in that section that was really really powerful and president Nelson even touches on many of the things that stood out stood out to me as I was studying it and I loved what president Nelson said about the promise about how the temple will be a house of Faith a house of learning a house of fasting a House of Prayer a house of order a house of glory and a house of God president Nelson said that this list of attributes is much more than a description of a temple it is a promise about what will happen to those who serve and worship in the house of the Lord and this is a promise that's for any any house of the Lord that we go to we have over 350 350 I think 375 maybe my sister knows better what numbers we're at right now but that's how many have been dedicated announced or currently under construction and this is a promise to each of those temples when we go and enter and worship and serve in those houses of in the house of the Lord and president Nelson says that they can expect those who go and serve and worship in the house of the Lord can expect to receive answers to prayer personal revelation greater Faith strength Comfort increased knowledge and increased power and that was one of the things that really stood out to me was that increase in power in the dedicatory prayer there it's mentioned multiple times that the power will dwell in the house but it will also be able to be filled within the individuals that come there are many times where I've gone into the house of the Lord served and worshiped and I come out feeling feeling that power feeling the ability that I can resist temptation a little bit more easily that I'm able to look forward with like look forward and overcome the challenges and obstacles in my path that I am trying to overcome the I'm able to recognize and learn the things that I need to learn more clearly the temple really helps me to be able to become more holy I want to be able to pray more I want to fast more frequently I want to be more orderly in my conduct and follow follow the Commandments it is a wonderful blessing to be able to just go into the temple and to be able to learn from heavenly father one of the things too that he mentions and that I really really enjoyed is the fact that angels will have a charge over us there are many times especially when we feel confronted by those who want to tear down our faith where we sometimes feel like we're standing alone in our testimonies and there are times where we honestly have to be the only voice that stands up and speaks out against the injustices of others or to speak out speak up and declare the truth that God has restored it can be scary to do this but the reality is that angels are with us and it's a promise that when we go to the temple and go into the house of the Lord to perform ordinances and we make covenants with God that he will send his angels to Bear us up and to help us to find the courage and the strength to do what is needed heavenly father knows because he had to stand alone but the amazing thing and the thing that I love the most about the garden of Gethsemane in the accounts in the scriptures is that there were Angels there that helped him get through those lonely times and I promise you too that there are angels around you and that heavenly father is wanting to help you and if you don't feel like there is that assistance go to the temple go into the house of the Lord and pray to know that you're not alone and if you can't go in either due to worthiness or you're not able to travel to a temple read the scriptures and study about the temple read through Dr Covenant 109 and ask heavenly father to show you the truth of that promise I know that heavenly father loves each and every one of his children he wants us all to receive the blessings that Abraham was given that is the beautiful thing about Elias coming to the temple he he brought back the ability for us to receive the same promise that Abraham received and his promises are glorious and they bring such great hope into our lives and so I would invite you to read through this talk if you haven't already but to and if you have go to the temple and see the promises for yourselves and I will hope that you'll record those things for yourself so that you can reflect upon them again and again and I hope that you will thank Heavenly Father for the matchless gift of the house of the Lord and that we have the authority to bind on Earth so that we can be bound in heaven I am extremely grateful for Heavenly Father Who sent a prophet to teach us these things and for a prophet who was able to have these things restored and I'm grateful for the house of the Lord that I am able to go and to be reminded of his promises to us I say that in the
