when I first started with the Spectrum streaming service on Zumo it was a great deal at $24.99 less than 6 months later it went up to $29.99 a 20% price hike in 5 months and sure it has hundreds of apps but so doesn't my Apple TV and any other TV that's smart it also has live local TV channels but again my antenna has that too and I don't have to pay a subscription every month to use my antenna I've been using the mul leaf antenna and I really like it I bought it for one time cost and I'll link to it below if you're interested because it's pretty handy I did like the remote that was on the analog Spectrum traditional cable boxes the one that had the cable that actually plugged into the back that remote had up and down buttons page up and down buttons and really got the notion of channel surfing when the Zumo came out I love the price point it was a lot cheaper a lot less expensive but it was also a lot cheaper in the sense the remote has no no page up or down button so comparing the traditional analog cable box to the new Wi-Fi compromise that is the Zumo box it really shows you how they could have built in these features but they just passed right over them it doesn't make me feel very good as a consumer of the product now you do get the cable TV and the live local channels all at a fraction of the price with the Spectrum streaming service so that's really its selling point that's its anchor but again on some of the stuff they've overlooked with the technological implementation they had massive Cloud DVR issues and all of their competitors have Cloud DVR services and none of them have the reputation having to give their customers money back for unreliable DVR service so with all these options out there maybe Zumo is just the latest example of an old traditional cable company who failed to get on the bandwagon of what was possible over streaming services until it was too late and maybe that's how it will end for spectrum maybe they'll get gobbled up by somebody like YouTube TV just for their content and their their streaming rights but at this point I can't defend spending 39.99 a month for something that was a lot cheaper last year at this time and is still really difficult to use let me know your thoughts in the comments below and if you have any ideas about which streaming service you prefer that has a DVR let me know that too because I'd be interested in doing reviews on those
