going into another field you know I know we have to start from the top but I just I think I can act good enough to start from the top you know but I don't I don't really I don't like uh I don't go too much for acting I like I like the reason I took the Buck White play is because I could say what I want to say and we had a lot of bold poems in that song and a lot of you know whites you see them you know they couldn't stay too long cuz it was it was true people come to be entertained but the play was so true and we had a song that Oscar Brown Jr wrote called us all over now Mighty Whitey and when that song Ford got over you know one fell walked up he must have been from Georgia somewhere he said we don't have this mess down I we and got up walked on so uh you know like I like real life drama like Jesse James and Billy the Kid and and white her and all of these Fells who were courageous in history Jack Johnson was a black man who married white women when black people couldn't even walk on the same side of the street and he would walk down the street with his wife all throughout Alabama and the cluer man would come to the fight and say if you whoop this white man you going we're going to shoot you and he said but you going to have to shoot me I mean he didn't have no black panthers or no Muslims or no Angela Davis or nobody to help him back in 1901 one man acting this bold so now they make movies about him and he plays the history of Great Men and who did things you know so like uh I enjoyed the real life drama and more so than just a lot of acting you know well however you've given a no well physically physically like uh I had a swollen jaw that was all but if I had looked like he did and if I had to know that the world knew that I was put up with intensive care no visitors no phone calls for 30 days I'd be so shamed you know even they took me to the hospital to check my jaw and I said please get me out here quick cuz I know it's going to be all in the Pressed I'm in the hospital they said we just want to check at jaw they said they they they said it wasn't broke nothing was wrong it was just swollen and I got at it quick so like uh and and a funny thing like I guess it backs up what he said about losing still Champion about the way I'm fighting every month and the top contenders in the business and like you know I'm it didn't didn't seem to hurt me I'm still going moreines Japanese can the Germans can everybody's not American can go and do what Negroes can't do so quit being Hypocrites on this TV the whole world no Negroes the lowest the most down the most disrespected and the less protected than anybody it well where can't you go Muhammad and I'm one big I'm a got $10 million I'm a great fighter so I can go I'm not talking about me I'm talking about the brother watching this show can't pay his rent yeah he ain't got nothing well what about the white man who can't pay his rent lot of it's his damn country he should get out there that's his fault yeah it's his damn country not all the poor are black and not all you got some poor white well then I'm looking for my black Brothers you look out for your white brother that's that's what I was saying earlier I a say hate nobody I don't hate nobody Congress what what is Let's help each other help yourself first what is what is the answer well I think the answer if there is an answer people want the truth all it's laughing and giggling now you're talking about well you laughing and gigl TV time to tell you laughing and giggling like everybody but you see the laughing and giggling that is not phony the laughing I have a function here my function is to entertain make many people out there happy as I possibly and man I do it every day that's your job that's right it's your job don't say it's phony because it's not phony I don't have a phony bone in this body you want to know why I'm not coming on giggling my teeth I didn't say that I said you look troubled I didn't say why aren't you gigling and laughing I'm always troubled well no not always CU you're in the world full of Hypocrites if I wasn't who I was I'd be someone's in the restroom so I ain't got no time to be looking like I'm so happy yeah but my brothers are catching hell and catching hell and catching hell D yeah yeah that's right and all you all Hypocrites and all you a hypocrite yourself well uh what's the answer the answer is that you know it's easy to sit back and call everybody else in the world a hypocrite I'm not going to call anybody hypocrite I think I think everybody has right to op white person in this artist it's ah when I tell the truth of my people ain't nothing but a hypocrite I don't I don't hate black people and I don't see well I don't dislike them and I you know and I don't see why you should well then you get with the government and tell them to get together and unite and do something but Mohamad you tell them to get together you take your face and your complex to the White House and repay the black people for all the work they have done all the slaving get down brother some nobody didn't do something repay well let's maybe we ought to start back in Africa with the tribal Chiefs who sold the slaves and slavery in the first place you know you can't go back and rectify 400 years they didn't sell you L can't do it they didn't sell you to Lynch us let's be happy they sell us to you to bers time for time for Liv we be right back TV show we seem to change we seem to no longer want to be black so my position is to stay who I am in my position as you say the world best in my field and 100% no compromising no Uncle tomman stand right with my people my women and represent them in the way where they can say well he don't drink he don't smoke you don't see him with no blonds and brunettes he makes millions of dollars you don't see him over here you know you come to my dressing rooms you can't get in for the black people in them cuz ever since been a kid I've get so mad have seing all these black women and black men mared out of the race and making uh liquor commercials and and and doing things that will mislead the masses who look up to them so me being one who they look up to I try to walk tall walk straight and always right with my own kind work always say there's one who stay with us we all brothers and sisters this is what has motivated me to do these things because otherwise you would see me in the movie tomorrow with a blond headed blue-eyed Fox oh I love you Darlings but but here come Mr Clay Mr Frasier Mr Patterson you don't know what color is they see him so now that we're free we won't have our own names but people like P people like frasers they don't take no parts in too much stuff like freedom movement of black power taking stands or giving up nothing or bucking the system if it's against their people so they just slow some people slow and some are quick so you think Fraser and changed their names then if they were no I don't say that 10 years ago what uh you call a black man black you'd have to fight now you'd have to fight if you don't call him black see yeah and the African hair you see the long hair they used to hate and they used to call each other your nappy head they try get straight hair and died like yours but now they want to be like AF yeah so plenty of money I mean today I'm short and I needed the money well then you won't even be needing this probably uh it's $233.12 yeah all of this then my fight won't probably last as long as I've been on this show for 200,000 that's 200 something thousand and you got me all this time for $200 [Applause] poem while I'm sitting here concerning your show I like your show dick and I love your style but your PIR is so cheap I won't be back for a while you know something when I first came on your show you were so humble and model when you were just getting started and the bigger your show gets the cocko you get you kind of noticed that he was so nice and I I admired you so much and and people like uh uh sometimes um David Frost would get you know kind of tricky and rough questions and people like uh Mike Douglas sometime would kind of Conor you and U people like uh the other show um Griffin sometime kind of cor you and you and Johnny Carson Johnny is still nice but you you you were one who was so you like a little school boy you're so innocent you're so nice and later you getting kind of tricky I just want to say that is that right is there any charge for this psycho analysis why do you think that is I don't know why do you think when a person gets into a position of uh being somewhat known uh they suddenly become uh well they become intoxicated like an intoxicated man will do something that he wouldn't do sober this is an expert talking now you realize that some people get intoxicated with wealth some with narcotics alcohol and some with greatness and some with Fame and and fame is kind of intoxicating you a little you kind of you act a little drunk you don't act like it used that I got to watch you I got to I got to get prepared you had attorney general going do you have a job in your department I could uh yes I I got a perfect job for you I hope I'm not saying nothing to hurt the show but it's true oh no no how could it hurt the show I got I used to be on guard when I came on your show I'm not on guard now I have to watch you you're a little afraid of me aren't you from here on out I'm going to have to thank twice before I come on here he just got up and walked off I mean like I thought it I thought it was a commercial did that scare you both when I was you for a minute uh I actually thought it was you fighting uh Marciano in one of those Computer red fights I want to say right here on Nationwide TV looking right into the cameras anybody who's connected with the computer uh thing uh maryu who originated it I thought it was really serious I thought they really had something accurate but it's really it's not real and I'm a man who speaks his peace and I'm not the kind who will tell a story uh there's no such thing as a computer uh that can take uh Joe L's record and Jack dsers and you feed it and it tells you what would have happened the night they had fought uh how this all started this marry War from Miami came up with the wild ideal he wanted to see who's the greatest heavyweight champion in history and the black people look at this has been a racist thing because they got all the great Fighters together uh and and Jack Johnson he wasn't good enough to get to the finals Jack Johnson net Fletcher Ring magazine who's the Bible of boxing will tell you that Jack Johnson was one of the greatest you may hate to admit it because he's black but he was and after Jack Johnson you couldn't find nothing no greater no better than Joe Lis in his day every kid all over the world every planet Earth know the name Joe Lewis the name Joe lwis is boxing and with my speed and my style and my record a fell named Jim Jeffers beat me who was a slow flat-footed heavyweight and if he had beat him in the first or second round I may say well maybe he got lucky that night but for 15 rounds he out pointed me so I imagine the world's slowest heavyweight and the world's fastest for 15 rounds he caught up with me he out punched me he out moved me and he beat me on points so the and if you ask the average white person who's the greatest Two fighters ever lived the average one on the bar fight fans Jack Dempsey or Marciano which is nature if you ask the Italian he'll say benanti you ask the Argentina they might have their champion of the Africans Dick Tiger so if you ask the average black man on the streets who's the greatest fighters ever live today they'll either say Muhammad Ali sugaray or Joe Lis or Jack Johnson I mean a black man so now uh Jack Rocky Maran and Jack Dempsey ended up the last two fighting for the title Marana won and my lawyer protested and said that uh this wasn't right it t in my image so uh marijuana said I got an idea why don't you in Marana get in the ring and box for real I said the man's farted something years old and it's impossible he said well we will fake the fight we boxed 71 minute rounds stopping about a half inch from each other's face not really punching he put the fake sound in it then he put the fake blood in it and he had me to take a knockout he had Mar to take a knock out that was you then on the screen yeah yes I thought they had gotten people who look very much like you this was me and uh they they they spiced all this together uh there were seven endings he knocked me out I knocked him out uh he tked me I tked him he won a decision we went into the post like he was winning and I was losing he was losing I was winning and one draw and whatever the computer said they were supposed to spice this together like if the computer says Ali comes out with two Jabs and Mar out of ducks were they supposed to had all this in advance but reason I those this computer thing was phoning because I did the staging I told Marano how to move cuz by not hitting each other and actually making it look real and stopping the fraction from each other each punch had to be planned beforehand so uh I staged and and one segment two or three segments of that uh phony computer fight I noticed one round I went for two minutes another round I did we did go for three minutes Mar s was a little heavy a little tired so we went minut at a time into another clowned a little showing off and and he did also but but I gave up about two rounds like that and until I was knocked down I was quite sure I was winning on points as far as as far as far as I would say as far as punches land didn't rounds now I lost probably six rounds I think I won nine but mhm but that was the opinion of the judges and that's all over so you know since I'm protesting we just do better next time if we have another one another surprise is in the fight itself [Applause] I didn't I didn't realize that uh I was U I didn't realize that I could be hit so many times with the same punch you know usually one or two one or two left hooks or right crosses I usually catch on to it but I have to give it to them I ain't taking nothing from him he's really good as far as slugging is concern he's not skillful but he's real strong and he keeps coming he takes five or 10 punches to land one but when he hits you you shook can you remember the instant that you hit the floor or is there any moment of it that's blank in your mind well you remember no you just remember being down and trying to get up you don't remember the actual punch and the the pain from it all the going down all you realize is there is no pain it's just numb is there ever pain in the ring well the hips were because I didn't catch no body punches just hip punches right on the hip next morning I barely could walk yeah yeah can you hear you can hear it yeah you can hear it but you really don't pay much attention to it I've been in the game now probably 19 years mhm I'm 29 years old now and just over half of my life has been boxing so I don't pay no attention to crowds you I mean well under the minds of the judges I believe seriously if you watch the fight and the punch is actually landed uh not to be boasting but the way I look now is just the way I look the morning after the fight not one scratch not one blem it's just to bruis YW no Cuts or no marks no blood no wor but I think the punch is actually landed in the rounds won I believe I had the edge but it was close but still like for an example a referee had me losing 11 rounds mhm and I know I didn't lose that many rounds and the rounds that they gave you were not necessarily they didn't all give you the same rounds they those people but usually I win so uh so far out I'm so far out ahead of my opponent on points until it's not close all these knocked out so it was just close and just lost and that's it figh who get hit a lot do that I may be soaking mine before I got h i I got hit more in this fight than than I would say my last six fights put together would you would it be safe to say then that you have more a lot more respect for Fraser than you let on before Oh yes as far as his hidden power's concerned yeah I didn't really believe here the first few hooks that I got caught with I figured they would probably luck or but soon catch on to it but it happened all the way to the end surprised me how many rounds could a guy fight before he just drops I don't I don't see how you can do 15 well that was pretty hard that night I think I'd have been good for about four more and that have been it yeah yeah four or five more and you didn't dance like a what was it you were going to float like a butterfly and dance like a sing like a be or something like that and and you you you res round dance like a flat footed butterfly some of the no offense uh I'll let you off his time but been um been going 15 rounds and moving and boxing too I mean as far as outpointing the man and moving too you burn extra energy where he's mostly walking in and blocking them and taking them he's he's not really Turing himself out like retreating and retreating for 15 rounds with a man like Frasier who's always on you I probably could go for eight or nine and then be completely exhausted after that and no heavyweight in the history of boxing even danced as much as two rounds constantly Rhythm and B being moving and boxing to the to the left to right to the front to the back and this is something that's never been done even Marana Joe LS Dempsey wal cart no heavyweight in history of boxing has Champion has ever been a dancing master but but I had to slow down a little because after I predicted round six and after I saw he could take everything that I had and I saw his power if you notice after the four fourth round I got mostly flat footed it took my time to preserve energy and I needed it too but but before you used to dance a lot more are you saying that you well next time I have aged have you aged Noti naturally have aged we all yes but uh I think frasia if I fought frasia say three years ago when I was supposed to be at my best I think I wouldn't have done as good because I'm stronger now and he's so strong I wasn't as strong as I am now I'm right at my full maturity at 29 not really old and not young but anyway uh the next time if we ever had a rematch I believe I could stay on my toes and move more because I have found out that he gets tired too you know and I think I could keep it up all the way if I train properly and you don't buy the idea then that the the years off that you missed um have been that damaging well not as far as actual combat is concerned but prepare and mentally I'm off and as far as like when the rest the day of the fight and what to eat the week before the fight and when to stop training when to lighten up you can your timing can get off and preparing yourself because I haven't trained for so long but the actual fight itself I think I'm better do you think you slued off a little bit in training you seem to say so when you're talking to Howard coell uh that maybe you could have trained a little harder this time and Run 5 miles did more road work yeah and I could have uh taken a little more serious but I didn't when was that picture taken in life with your belly hanging over your trunks oh that was about four weeks before the fight and you got all that off in four weeks yeah I was pushing it out a little trick the people come back after three and a half years of um uh this question was submitted by Hubert humphy I would say I would say if a man uh referring to my layoff yeah I would say if a man just AC sat down and did nothing and then had a six week notice like I did I myself couldn't have done it but a great athlete I'm sure many race is when they retire if he's not too old it's in his blood to get out and do a little running if it's not in competition just as health I see old men in Central Park and place at 65 and 70 years old running so I'm sure that they didn't believe that for the P three and a half years that I was off that I was just setting up because they said I couldn't fight and doing nothing I ran about on average of three days a week went to the gym every once in a while I kept pretty well tuned up or otherwise I couldn't have been ready in six weeks for Jered quar it was a good fast fighter yeah honestly now can really you it's not because you're frightened you're just nervous two nights before you can sleep night the night before is hard to sleep you watch television walk around think about everything involved it's rough you know especially my contest is this one mainly because we had about 1000 million people watching it which is about five times as many people as you have in this whole country and if you could picture just everybody in America in one Arena how many people 200 million is and just think about 1000 million and all of this and plus some hard left hooker coming at you too you know all this is rough you know make you think it's hard to sleep but uh see I tell you something I'll say now on air for the first time but I had a crack rib that night and if you watch the films of that first fight on my H was right here all through the first round and James Ellis hit me up two days last two days in training and this real pained me up until even I would say a year after that even going into the Patterson fight saw but I I overcame it with a shot of novan that nighted the fight in this re but when I first fought list in the second time I mean that whole rib was pain him and I was hoping I didn't get hit there cuz I fell out right there so why were you yelling at to get up then well just Clowning just few things I quit doing you know got to stop no harder than as a matter of fact I didn't train as hard for Frasier as I did for Jerry Quarry because I was conscious that this was the comeback fight quarry was a fast fighter good boxer of all places was held in Georgia and uh that's where I got my first uh Senator Johnson there got me my right to fight and then um plus the governor proclaimed that day a day of morning the day of the fight and all this stuff is on your mind too politics and stuff and I really had wanted to win that one I really trained hard hard hard but for frasia I trained about like I did for I would say the chavalo fight of the power fight I didn't really kill myself well thank you for being here I held you longer than you had plann to stay and it's a great pleasure to have you because they gave me hell for trying to be human now I think men Wide World of Sports we get along real well how coell and one reason I love Wide World of Sports I love working with them was because mainly the poor people got a chance to see my fights and the people in the hospitals because the fights were like cheapest tickets are like $20 when I fight in some theaters ringside CF went up to $11,000 a seat so and then the average seats go up to like $200 a seat I mean ringside so by Wide World of Sports showing the fight crippled people and people who had all type handicaps couldn't walk paralyzed people could sit at home and watch the fight a few days after so I think it's bad that Howard Co all anybody at Wide World of Sports would make a decision for the whole public and keep the fights off TV just because they don't think the fighter is qualified the promoter thought the fight was qualified enough to guarantee me 300,000 and they guaranteeing the heavyweight champion of Germany 150,000 me 300,000 next month in Zuck Switzerland how wide world Sports say it's not fit to be shown why is it that the ger German commission loated the swits commission loated all the boxing signs of the world located they put up $450,000 in advance and who's wide Roller Sports are how Co s to say the fight is not fit to be seen they should let all the people take a vote and say that we don't like to fight this is the only thing I hate about it since since I CAU since I caught so much hell for trying to be nice and taking it easy on the man look out from here on because I'm going to be blasting I'm going to knock I'm going hit him I'm going to fight until he falls and if he gets up I'm going to knock him down again and if anything happen they can't say nothing else because they got on me for not being rough enough you understand so look out whoever the next man is he is in trouble guys coming up that are interested in sports well I wouldn't advise none of them to be an athlete because it's too risky you know like I'm one of the best and I've got a break Joe Fraser got a break but like if you have an accident or you break a leg or you or you don't have the talent you should have you spend your life trying and the next thing you know you're in a certain age bracket you didn't make it and life they consider life a tragedy one thing for sure if they go to school learn to read learn to write take up some type of occupation and use their brains and not the fist if they have anything to do with box and be the manager cuz usually they get all the money but don't the fight in itself of being an athlete I wouldn't advise no young black men to be now that black people are coming into power and now that they're becoming independent and starting to think in the way of self we need electricians we need mechanics we need doctors we need nurses we need scientists everybody uh uh lose except me but uh I I don't believe I don't believe I don't believe that no wrestler could beat me not even I challenge Gorgeous George once the match and he ran out you mean you think you could be the professional wrestler yeah eat him up well I would say a great great great fighter would I would say would have to be born I mean me myself I've never received top-notch training I've never been to training camp and I can't find nothing around to let passed over eight rounds with me so I mean I was really born to boxer fighter mhm I think that's true of the leading people in any field question all right there's a lady right there question how can you always be so sure you're going to win when you say you do in the round that you say you do well then if I uh if I told you how I knew then uh you would be the greatest too as far as fighting is concerned but uh it's mostly scientific I study my opponents and we them check the history and check this height for an example of fought a fellow named Charlotte pow in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania a year ago few of you may have read about it I predicted round six but after I met him in person I realized that I could cut it in half and do it in three so the day of the fight I cut the prediction from 6 to three and that night before a sellout crowd of 22,000 he fell in three so uh I thought a fellow named Doug Jones about a lot of you sports fans heard about that people say I missed my prediction because the fight win 10 Rounds with their wrong first I said Jones in six then I said Jones and four six and four is what 10 right you are young lady there with the white coat you look so young I was wondering how long you've been fighting well I've been fighting 12 years Jee I've had 9 something let me see I've no I had about two 260 am fights two time Nation I show you how great I am two time two two time National Golden Glove Champion two time National aaou Champion International Diamond belt Champion Pan-American game champion and 1960 World Olympic gold medal winner in Rome it's a heck of a record all of those fights see all of those fights and I'm still SM I was yes young man uh do you think Uncle Sam has something against you no why did you say that well he called you up to get your physical well everybody everybody go to that to the right at this time though well I don't know it's the law is the law I mean you can't they don't care they don't care they took evess presler didn't they I mean they do uh for an example Sunny Liston he's scared to death I went to his house about 2:00 one morning a couple weeks ago and drove my bus up in his yard knocked on his door pulled him out of bed and almost beat him in his front yard and the policeman had to come with dogs to break it up and that's enough to scare anybody is this a true story guess it was true is in all the papers and everything I went to his house woke him up I I I just I'm tired of talking about it I'm ready to go ready to go yeah I'm tired I be getting this thing get off yeah all right question when is your next fight going to B she was out of the room a little while ago I don't I really don't know uh Sunny listen I hope but I might have to I might have one tonight people should be really checked before they go in the rain and they really shouldn't go in the ring with certain people like list they shouldn't let him in the ring now seriously this is going to be the biggest upset in the center of all box and that that that that that's he's old man he's 40 years old that man don't belong in no ring with no 21 year old man like me he Sunny 40 going on 40 he's shaving and somebody got word to that young man out there Casas we've had a lot of guests on the show we've never had any that gotten more laughs and it's a great pleasure and an honor to meet you we wish you the best of luck in the thank you [Music] Steve moed before this fight that this man was going to throw dirty shots hit behind here there you go right behind here that's totally legal and the referee just as dirty as him he didn't say nothing about it look at him all them punches illegal not his backside the referee will come in and he say something to us man because I'm doing it too see I'm telling them now watch this
