three games three wins how much does that one mean your first win here uh all of them mean a lot because the first one was my first game as a Liverpool manager the second one was my first home game and this is the first uh big win I think if you want to call it like this so all of them mean a lot to me what would be your assessment of of where it went wrong today compliment for Liverpool and for the players how they finish and score great goals it's quite simple I think we were in the game I think it was equal level head tohe till half an hour and then that we make two big mistakes you made a change at halftime casemiro came off was that anything to do with an injury or was that purely to change things up you know when you are to0 down against Liverpool their quality is um they are very Dynamic especially Midfield area so we brought someone on with legs that was Toby K and the change you made in the second half it didn't go down well with the crowd here how would you explain that to United fans why you made the change you did I think it's a good question from you because um first start from s first start from kacho and yeah then you decide to bring players on uh who has can have an impact Dio he deserved it he can have an impact but then bring a player off who is not used to 90 minutes just a word about your your forward line Le Diaz gets two mosella makes two then scores one it seems if You' inited this group of players it's it's it's like the greatest riches any manager could inherit I would emphasize today more on the work rate without the ball from these three and from our free midfields that kept on running kept on running and kept on arriving in the jewels so that was for me very very good to see that Deco do this toight I'm tempted to ask what's changed because on the face of it not a lot I think we look a bit more secure defensively I think we've were a lot more controlled her game today um you know obviously 3 now and yeah it could have been more the clean Sheet's massive for us you know when you come away to your Rivals like man united then it's so important to keep a clean sheet and that's what the manager said before the game you know the first objective today is to keep the clean sheet and then we've got the quality on the pitch to score goals and I think we prove well there's an awful lot to dissect with you both after that starting with the goals because Manchester United as Eric tenh alluded to were their own worst enemies yeah I mean it was it was a bit of a shocker he sort of dressed it up after the game saying half an hour we were good they were okay for half an hour but then two massive mistakes I think from Camero and and and got dragged at halftime he gave the ball away 13 times in the in the first half alone Camero and we'll have a look at him here Mark I mean we know what he's done in his career but it just looked he was he was Miles off at the day and he's in a good position for a number six of course and you see it comes back to him here now you know he's got options what does he do can he go to the can he go to to the right back take a touch to Mai D's really high up as a left back as well the last thing he can do is take this first time he can take a touch he's got more time he thinks now Manchester United are buying in trouble look at this numbers going for there three three Defenders and of course five attackers this is at home to one of you know the form teams of of the Premier League and of course they're cute up at the back post brilliant ball from Salah and Diaz comes in off the wing and it's a it's a fantastic header and I'm afraid it's casamero again you know he's had such a bad day at the office again you talk about the Press you know arnest lot talks about his press Diaz presses from the front he Nicks the ball off casamero and and again it's it's it's pure from him he should get it a away to maybe xerx and away and I look at Martinez here as a center half he sees Diaz once he has another look at him again Mark twice now he should be man to man inside the Box you know space doesn't score goals but players do I think he's got a lock on to De and Frank the third Go's very similar yeah I think some things are individual errors I think those two particularly but I think when you look at this just a structural problem with Manchester United kobby M is's receiving his ball he's back to goal six players already beyond the ball so he's got to try and wriggle and he can't and all of a sudden within a second you're four against two and you're trying to recover and against the team where that's one of Liverpool strengths always has been how quickly they they execute those of counter attacks they just left open and then this kind of summed up really the the game for them in terms of this is straight away on the kickoff and then you make that mistake now without getting too individual about it I think that's probably as much of a mental issue at that point youve just conceded you know that you're conceding in the dangerous moments you have to play the safer pass to go back or take another option and that's summed up where Manchester United were in that period of the game and after that the game was done is it essentially that you use the word structural when when you talked about the third goal and where Mania was compared to everybody else because when you compare and contrast that to Liverpool's Midfield today you have seen structure in in every phase of play really yeah well I think Andy Robertson alluded to it then in terms of looking safer defensively more secure defensively and I think you want to control game and you want to been more secure a lot of that comes from the center of the pitch and how you set up now we saw K Manu looking like he didn't have any options whereas the balance in Liverpool's Midfield today was completely different and they've talked a lot about buying a a top class number six but the way they play a day they don't necessarily need that because of their setup so you have McAllister and grain bur but those sort of two next to each other as two sixes and so took up this position higher on the left hand side you see in aces of space there if he chooses to take that pass and now very quickly through playing very well through the lines they're going six against four against Manchester United and they're in big trouble and we know when they have that quality we know Liverpool have been capable of this for for many years playing through teams at PACE but they seemed a bit more balanced to their Midfield today than what sometimes Liverpool may have had previously where there was a lot of rotation and a lot of different movements here you generally see there the two players behind the ball sub like behind the Midfield giving them an issue and when you have those two players and those connections and the distances are always good they rotate off each other have a good understanding of each other but if they were to turn the ball over at any of these moments those two midfielders are always backing up play so it's smart players Dynamic players as the manager said there there was a lot of energy in their game but you see again here one can receive those two are close together so Lam makes a run just to open up the space and what you want to do do these things when you change play is get your your Best Wingers One V one with Defender so I thought the balance was fantastic we very happy the small tweaks very smart I think from the manager there he's come into a machine of a team with a lot of talent and a dynamic style and there's a small change that you think leads you into seeing what you see there and and I think it was interesting today as well because a lot of people have been talking about the different style more passes more buildup we see that in the first two games here against ipswitch and brenford where they've had bigger control of a game but they come up against what you might see as a potentially more difficult opponent at Old Trafford today and I think their decision was made to go okay we're going to have that structure but when we can play through when we can miss out that press from manchest play through them because you can play through Manchester United when they play like they did today and they found a really good way of doing it without losing balance to the team Ju Just on that Midfield again and shabos like playing a role very similar to to the one that you played but but from you as a midfielder and from you as a as a coach will that will that have taken virtually ever since slot got there to work on that and that and how much is it coaching how much is it individual well it's both I think you need good players and you need players of intelligence um and attributes and he talked about their energy to be able to make the movements and to continuously do so through a game of that level so I think it's both it obviously helps having good players with a good understanding and they've been well coached not let's not forget what the the previous manager done over a long period of time so those tweaks would have been done on a training ground and then you obviously need to players to take on information and also react to a game you know when you are saying we can be a little bit flexible within a certain structure you're understanding that if mallis and I'm sure it will happen where he will just want to you know he will see a moment to release himself then it's up to the other midfielders to balance off that Manchester United's Midfield has been an issue for a long time it's been an issue ever since Eric tenh arrived and wanted to sign Frankie D young didn't get Frankie deong right they've tried again with their Midfield this summer do do the hierarchy need to take some blame here in that the man that they've chased all summer apparently in agarte arrives on Deadline day can't be registered and he's waving at the fans rather than playing in front of them I mean it's not all on ten har this is it no it's not on T but you look at the you look at the squad to you look at the bench even you make changes the the bench is is is way for thin they've made a lot of investment this guy should be starting today it definitely should be and again you speak you know Dan ashford's G in there Jason wilock they are people above but have they come in too late should this been done who do you blame you blame ten hag do you blame the powers of be above but at the same time Jim redcliff was there as well you know all them people the you know the hierarch the directors know when they're watching that today 3-0 was was it could have been a lot worse Andre Roberton said after the game you know 3-0 was was was was respectable score line for Man United because it could have been four five6 they had so many chances but AAR should should be should have been registered you said they chasing them all summer he should been he should have been playing today the the other the other contrast as well between the two teams you know the clips you show of of Liverpool is every time they get the ball in the final third it was slick and the passes went to who they were intended to and you again you go back and contract pass that to Manchester United in the final third yeah well I think when you have balance within your team we're just talking about Liverpool there then then I think it's much easier to sort of construct the attacks with Manchester United a lot of their attacks and they have been for a while very quick and fastpaced they moments that happen and they've got fast players and talented players at the top end of the pitch but when you attack quickly it's sometimes hard to follow up play when you're not structured patterns of play don't matter so much in these moments they're off the cuff and xer here you see there is a supposedly number nine slightly a false nine who's not Fallen up place you'll struggle to score goals if it's like that and again when you see here they had a few moments you go okay that's just a bad decision from gach and now we're early season and and he a good young player young players will make those sort of mistakes but this with Anana here can we make handles can you support him with field to play that's the lack of connection through the team there even though he's getting a clap it's a bad connection yeah it's frustrating spos because they have got the players like Bruno's probably one of their best players and today he was I know miles off again he's got options here gacho's right I think it's the easy option but I think Bruno Fernandez is easy enough to play that through the middle for xeri and he's through in a 1 V one situation again it's the wrong choice in the final third and it's I don't know rashford you know go through the teamw mark to be honest but rashford is straighten as well down I don't I don't know it's just you're probably right the word rushed everything seems to be rushed the top teams you see Liverpool great examples Frank new four everything seems to be calm in the final third all them sort of Snippets we shown in man united it's always rushed it's always like you know the one you saw where garnacho and and xeri should be arriving into the box like I know ten hagu with well I think I don't know him that well but I think he should be doing patterns of play on a daily BAS bases xeri should be arriving onto that and Sir gacha does a blind pass into that space he's miles off it is it a harsh and unfair question to ask if Liverpool look like they have more of a plan under slot after three games than United do under 10 hard going into his third year is that is that harsh and unfair I don't think it's harsh at all you know you know I think the questions will be asked big te over the next couple of weeks International break now he's got a twoe break there'll be lots of questions I I know there's a lot of man united fans are really angry with performance with the result and as you say it's not like he's just come through the door like slot's been there for three years I think slot has inherited a better team and better individual and a better player Liverpool a better team than Manchester I don't think too many people would disagree with that so T hog himself has said that yeah he spent a lot of money as well well he has and and and in terms of Recruitment and big signs and big players there are some that have really not come off for them and as a manager and I've been in that seat you understand that he'll be going well if my you know I need players to be able to play if I want more control of a game I need have midi if I want to be a more of a pressing machine as a team I need energy in my team I need center backs that can cover there are so many parts too so he will have his reasons for that so I've got sympathy for that but the problem is when you look at that and it's it's a well spoken thing about Manchester United is that you don't quite know what they are what what sort of team they with Liverpool and the top teams you generally know and that's that's a real um there's a lot to that you have to recruit well you have to be aine as a club of a manager of an idea can we help him and back him and that's what's been missing there's a bigger picture than just pointing a finger at the manager but I think think when you do look at some of those tactical details there when they're repetitive you go you got to find a solution CU that is your job all right
