tomorrow kamla Harris and Donald Trump will face off in their first and potentially only debate of the presidential race many polls show Harris and Trump are tied ahead of the debate being hosted by ABC News in Philadelphia there will be no studio audience and neither candidate will be allowed to have any props or pre-written notes both candidates have also agreed to keep microphones muted while the other is speaking and joining me now is CDV news political analyst Eric ham Eric good to see you as always the debate is tomorrow what are you going to be watching for well of course all lies are going to be on KLA Harris can she actually stand up to the scrutiny that she will certainly get not only from Donald Trump but from the moderators many have not seen kamla Harris take questions since she took her place at top the ticket and there are still nagging questions about who kamla Harris is but also what she stands for and what she plans to do as president so this will be an opportunity for her to actually be able to reset for the American people but more importantly uh this will be an opportunity for them to see kamla Harris in that position as possibly commander-in-chief it's been made clear that the microphones will be off while the other is speaking how will this change things well we know that the Harris campaign wanted those microphones on and they were attempting to try to do that to set Donald Trump off that's not going to work tomorrow but again KLA Harris has not actually been on a debate stage in more than four years we've seeing Donald Trump constantly taking questions uh from the Press doing town halls and of course we know about that first debate with Joe Biden so there is so much on the line for kamla Harris tomorrow and actually both of these candidates particularly in light of that recent poll by the New York Times Sienna College poll that show Donald Trump with a one-point lead clearly what we're seeing here is kamla Harris's strategy while certainly allowing her to gain enormous momentum and raise copious amounts of money seems to have actually reached his wall and now it's time for the Harris campaign to actually do something different can that actually begin tomorrow with this debate of course we'll know in about 24 hours how important is this debate for both of them well this this debate I think could be the defining moment for determining who wins and no November uh we know that right now not only is the race neck and neck in National polls but when you look at many of these key Battleground States it's also a a toss up especially in perhaps the biggest prize in Pennsylvania which both of these candidates are feverishly courting and so what happens tomorrow could give either candidate some separation in the polls leading into November when you think back to the debate between Trump and Biden do you think we'll see a different Trump this time oh that's a really really good question I do believe that Donald Trump will perhaps be more aggressive not less going after kamla Harris on a number of issues including the issue of race uh we know that he has questioned her racial identity and I suspect we will see more of that play out tomorrow of course everyone will be looking at how kamla Harris is going to handle that and also can she make the pivot to also talk about the accomplishments during her 10e vice president and also what she plans to do we know some of the key hot button issues that will be on the debate stage tomorrow of course will be women's Reproductive Rights and immigration will those be issues that either candidate can use to their advantage we'll see what happens tomorrow well I know I'm really looking forward to watching that is our time we'll have to leave it there H thank you very much Eric as always you bet thank you Eric ham is cdv's political analyst and we will have live coverage of the ABC News presidential debate simal cast we'll have a pregame show with Chief political correspondent vashy Capello starting at 8:00 pm Eastern tomorrow on cdb news channel and CDV news.ca
