[Music] coming up into today's video we're going to go through some winners and losers from the preseason week 2 loss against the San Francisco 49ers we already put out an instant reaction where we cover all the injury updates all the takeaways and everything that I thought about last night but I had some time to sleep I was able to go back and rewatch some of the clips and rewatch some of the game and now I able to give you some winners in losers but let's go and revisit the scorecard because I do think it's important to set the scene and give some love to the players who played well but also call out the players who didn't now Josh dos I was literally just talking with producer Patrick seatman who is in charge of our Vikings Channel and he's familiar with Josh dobs the ponut looked like Lamar Jackson I don't understand why but the New Orleans Saints biggest Kryptonite is the ball dude that works for NASA I do not get it it makes no sense to me but the New Orleans Saints have to be better when it comes to containing and bringing down a mobile quarterback but Matt breida I was shocked to I was shocked to see that name to be quite honest seven carries for 24 yards Jacob coing had four receptions for 51 yards the Saints defense ultimately played pretty well especially the starting unit and guys like Rico pton rayon r a bunch of those players were good however the offense was pretty lackluster throughout the entire evening so we're going to go through my winners go through my losers but before we get into that I need to encourage you to subscribe to to the channel for preseason so far to be quite honest Rico pton the udfa quarterback out of pit State the former gorilla that was their mascot I had to Google it it was I I was shocked to see that there was a college mascot of the gorillas but anyway long story short versus San Francisco Rico Payton put up another exceptional game he had three tackles two of those were solo which was awesome he had this really beautiful pass break up where he actually ended up getting a little bit beat but recovered very very well and was draped all over the 49ers receiver and he earned a 60.7 PFF coverage grade and listen to this folks according to F Rico pton he leads all cornerbacks in the preseason in targets with 13 and he is allowed just three receptions for 31 yards he has forced five incompletions and broken up four passes while facing the second highest average depth of Target at 15.2 yards per Target and that's among Corners with 50 plus coverage snap so got to give uh credit to John Sigler for pointing out that stat unbelievable stuff for Marico p pyton last week he was the second highest graded rookie in the preseason across the NFL and he was really really good again uh last night I'm excited to see more from Rico Peyton I truly do believe there is a role for him to make the 53-man roster now Jordan Mims I want to talk about him as a winner because he continues to show off his versatility and continues to prove that he is more than just Jake Hayner's former teammate he is a good football player and we saw it in the passing game in week one he didn't get involved as a receiver in week two but he still got involved as a receiver in week one he got involved as a rusher and on top of that he got involved on kick return where he had some nice returns and hey in my opinion that's enough to carve out a spot as the running back three we know kendre Miller's dealing with injuries we know for a fact that Kendry Miller is fighting to make a spot on the roster and to be honest Dennis Allen seems like he's pretty upset and pretty annoyed with the kendre Miller injury stuff and we're getting close to having to consider Kendra Miller an injury-prone player so don't be surprised if Jordan Mims somehow climbs to the 503 man roster and ends up being the running back three I'm really rooting for kendrian Miller but I mean hey it's hard to make the club from the tub and I got more on kendre Miller in a little bit but I want to ask you this question who was the biggest winner versus the Saints for or versus 49ers for the Saints excuse me for me it was Rico pton he continues to have a really good preseason he continues to be good at camp I think that Rico pyton is going to put the league on notice in very in a in a very short amount of time so Anthony ory a former udfa linebacker from last year's class he is also a big-time winner he actually led the team in tackles last night and I think that Anthony ory it's going to be tough for him to make the roster considering the linebacking group is pretty much set at the top three guys with de Mario Davis Pete Warner and Willie gay but after that you know you got Jaylen Ford into the mix you got DeMarco Jackson you got Kiki Hudson so can Anthony ory unseat one of those guys I think he could and I do think that Anthony ory continues to have a good uh preseason and good summer I want to see him perform really really well next week in preseason week three so let's see if he can continue building off of that excellent uh offseason so far in preseason I guess you should say Tamm Hill um I know we have't listed as quarterback I will forever consider him a football player I I mean we're going to start te producer seeps remind me next time just put the flex designation next to Tamm Hill because he's not a quarterback he's not a running back he's not a receiver he's not a tight end he was lining up at fullback last night he was lining up at running back he was getting involved all over the place and I also do think that we're going to see a lot of tesm Hill in special teams on kick returns considering the new rule so last night uh T Mill had five carries he had a long of 11 yards and he was able to find the Saints only touch down last night on a fourth and one just punch it in I mean what what what else you going to do give Tamm Hill the ball because when he has the ball he scores points and when the Saints score points the Saints get wins and when they get wins the fans are happy and when the fans are happy everyone's happy and the sport becomes so much more fun so last winner for me uh Trevor Penning believe it or not I have Trevor Penning listed as a winner for me because I actually thought he played really really well the eye test for me it suggested hey at no point throughout the evening did I say oh my god get Trevor Penning off the field or oh my God another mistake from Trevor Penny none of that happened last night and and I went back and I re-watched the tape I re-watched the clips I rewatched the highlights and at the end of the day I was like you know what it wasn't all bad it was actually pretty good considering how bad things were last week for pre uh for the preseason week one game so Trevor Penning here's how he played according to PFF on 32 snaps last night so the overall grade at 65.2 in week one he earned a 41.5 so he climbed a considerable amount there now the pass blocking grade it did drop from a 52.0 in week one to a 33.7 I'm not totally sure why considering the sacks hits and hurries were all down from last week um I also will say I think Trevor Penning no penalties that's a win the Run blocking grade it skyrocketed from a 48.1 to a 75.5 now PFF is not the gospel you should not take it as the Bible but I do think it's a good measuring stick for offensive linemen because it's just kind of hard to put numbers and put stats for offensive linemen unless it's how many sacks how many pressures how many hits did they allow and Trevor Penning only allowed one hurry zero hits in zero sacks so I think it's a big win he needs to continue to develop there is no doubt about it the work is not done but this was good progress and the good progress if we can keep the ball moving and we can keep the snowball going that can turn into good production week in and week out now if you want to have a really good way to make some memories or if reason I have him as a loser I think kendre Miller is a good player I think he has nice skills I think he has really good contact balance he has burst he has the good Vision but the issue is he's not on the field and when guys like James Robinson and Jordan Mims are coming in and playing well it's hard to consider kendre Miller a winner if he can't even get out there and fight for his own roster spot I'm not saying that the Saints are going to cut kendre Miller but I could see a world where maybe New Orleans decides you know what we tried with kendre it didn't work we're going to roll with the udfa or we're going to roll with one of our other guys and we're going to try again in the draft next year maybe that's the route that they go or maybe they try and go and pay for a running back maybe they go and sign somebody in free agency or trade for somebody before the season starts but at the end of the world or at the end of the day right now for me kendre Miller is a loser and again I like him a lot but it's just I want to see more from him and he's got to be on the field and Dennis Allen straight up said it's hard to make the team if you're not on the field so he's got to see more I got to see more and I think you all at home want to see more as well now Isaiah fosi um the second round pick out of Notre Dame just a couple of seasons ago man this guy there needs to be a case study on him because he has the energy he has the athleticism and he has some of those traits that you want in a player that can be go and be really really good he's fast he's at he's energetic and he has a really good mindset in terms of the game of football however it seems like he is his own mental block last night he actually almost logged a sack but completely whiffed on it he overcommitted and I'll give credit to the 49ers quarterback for stepping up getting out of the way but again it's not like you're playing against Patrick Mahomes or Lamar Jackson Isaiah fosy need to get to the quarterback and get some and get those tackles and get those sacks he has two tackles and both of those came in yesterday against the 49ers so throughout the whole preseason two games two tackles that's not going to cut it when you're a second round pick Isaiah fosy I'm rooting for you but it has to be better now my other losers I'm going to kind of cheat and just say both these two quarterbacks um by no means do I consider Derek Carr a winner but the fact that he was the best quarterback last night for New Orleans was not good and the fact fact that Josh dos was the best quarterback in in across the game even more frustrating but Jake hayner last night seven for 13 with 76 yards you know there were definitely some good moments there but with Hanner I think that he really needs to show that he has an understanding of the offense I think he needs to show that he has the leadership I think he needs to show that he has the playmaking ability and that he has it better than Spencer Rattler and with Hanner I think he's a good player he didn't take any sa last night so that's a win in my book but I mean only 76 yards again it's a preseason game 13 throws like not going to go crazy about it but last night the quarterback play when Haner I really thought I was like all right Jake is going in second as the qb3 he has the opportunity to go and win the game for the Saints he can try and have a game-winning drive and really get some good mojo and get some massive brownie points in the Jake hner qb2 bucket but didn't and for me it just wasn't enough for me to be like wow Jake haer is definitely the qb2 but Spencer Rattler like I'm gonna talk I'm gonna talk negatively about Hanner I'm also going to do that about Spencer Rattler I get a lot of hate on my channel of wow you only like Spencer Rattler you hate Jake canner but that could not be further from the truth I like Jake canner I like Spencer Rattler but last night I did not like what I saw from either of them 27 yards four for eight in terms of completions two attempts he got sacked twice the pressure was all over him and I will give credit to both of these players they they're definitely mobile and they're able to move around the pocket and create more time and buy more time but at the end of the day for me it's just not enough I need to see this consistently I need to see him making deep throws I need or for both of them for the record I need to see some deep throws intermediate throws not just checkdowns to your second third or fourth option commit to not commit but hit your receivers throw the Deep ball this is the preseason this is the time to practice those against a quality opponent like the San Francisco 49ers so I got to ask you this question I asked about the
