Andrew Heaney strikes out 8 Rangers over 5 innings on 8/21/24

He is four and 13 on the season with an, er, a of 4.2. 0, making his 25th start here this afternoon. A high fly ball out to right field though Jankowski plenty of time to get to it one away. Boy, he's carved up here though. Heaney's first strikeout of the afternoon two away. Well, we've seen Heaney with that good fastball but it's been a breaking ball here against reynolds. You see that nice tight spin right there as it runs right down and in, as reynolds swings over the top there is strike three called, but he comes out looking very sharp this afternoon, a couple of strikeouts in a perfect first and he swings and misses another strikeout for andrew Heaney. This time, he gets him with the rising fastball. He drops down a little bit, has a little bit different angle and runs it right across the top of the zone and he gets joe to chase that pitch out of the strike zone and Andrew strikes him out this time. Boy, I like that slider and the way it is moving here this afternoon, a 12 pitch swing and a miss another whiff by a Pirate hitter, another swing and miss on a slider, there's a swing and a miss, he strikes him out again. That is now what, six strikeouts today? 3 to 2 and he strikes out swinging. Now, the fastball right here across the top of the zone a little bit off the plate as well as he gets Taylor chasing the fastball for strike. Three Pirates with the bases loaded. Two men out. Nothing, nothing. The score oh two pitch and Joe strikes out swinging. And once again, andrew Hay gets out of a bases loaded spot.
