the Minecraft movie trailer has now officially been released online and people are not really loving it if I had to put a percentage on it it's about 80% of people being negative and 20% of people just trying to stay delusional optimistic that this actually looks good well whatever the case may be some people watching this trailer might be a little bit confused on why aren't all the humans blocky why is Jason Mamoa wearing a pink coat and did they really need to give Jack Black Steve a v neck and then the same color shirt underneath kind of defeats the purpose of a v-neck if I'm being honest with you well what I'm going to be doing here for you guys is giving you a trailer breakdown for the Minecraft movie I'm going to tell you straight up front do not expect any Hardcore Minecraft Easter egges from this video I am a casual fan into the Minecraft world but what I do have to offer instead is character descriptions who these people are their motivations how they got into the Minecraft world and what you can expect from this movie so while I could spend hours of this video going look a diamond sword in the back TNT explosive boxes I afraid I'm going to have to let you down in that department cuz I think I've played a total of 3 hours Minecraft in my life but I still am going to get you prepared for this movie so please if you catch a Bigg Easter egg that I didn't let me know down below and overall after now hearing what the Minecraft movie is going to be about are you down for this but all right diving straight into it here look giving you my personal thoughts on the trailer real quick as a casual fan into the Minecraft unit Universe I didn't hate it I think when it comes to the CGI and the look of the Minecraft world I think it looks cool the blocky animals the Penguins even this shot of a dogwolf howling into the cubed Moon I think they actually got the look of the Minecraft world down pretty well it just becomes so jarring when you have these physical humans that look completely out of place in this universe maybe it would have been a Sonic the Hedgehog situation if they tried actually making these humans look blocky but it definitely feels off even more so with Jason Mamoa in that pink leather coat while the creeper is coming up on him so it doesn't surprise me at all that the majority of fans right now are kind of disappointed with this trailer they're looking at it and saying it's a jamanji ripoff why is this a Trope of real people into the Minecraft world why can't we just be in the Minecraft Universe along with other comments saying the movie should have just been completely animated Jack Black is just playing himself at this point oh so many complaints but we're going to try to power through but now getting into specifics about this trailer so we are obviously looking at four humans who have entered a portal into the Minecraft Universe although these colorful outfits make it hard to pinpoint what time in our history they are from it is said that they are from modern day so the 2020s starting off with the little kids in the group we have Henry who is said to be the youngest sibling to Natalie played by Emma Myers Natalie is also the Le legal guardian of her brother both their parents have died and they decided to move to Idaho to start a new life it's here in Idaho where they meet Daniel Brooks's character of dawn who plays a real estate agent who helps them find a house in the process of looking for the home the real estate agent gets close to them befriends them and then I guess ends up being next to them when they get sucked into the Minecraft Universe now when getting on to Jason mamo's character he is by far the most interesting looking one of the bunch here his name in the movie will be Garrett it is no secret that he looks like a man stuck in the 80s because well he is said to play an old 80s Video Game Champion someone who was maybe an expert at like an old Donkey Kong Pac-Man or a Galaga game he's even said to be running a retro video game store that is failing no one goes to because that is just what's happening to video game stores out there nowadays and well with Jason mamo's character being an expert of retro video games I think it's just going to put a whole different perspective on my Minecraft that is a much more advanced video game although in this universe they're not really treating the Minecraft world as a video game it's more said to be an alternate universe where they just get sucked into now Jack Black Steve will be the outsider of the group that teaches them about the Minecraft universe but before getting onto details about him looking at some of the creatures that we see from the Minecraft world in here our first creature we get a look at is a pink sheep this was one of the first designs that got leaked of the Minecraft movie and fans were quick to point out that a pink sheep is a rare find in the Minecraft Universe even Googling it now it says you have a 16% chance of stumbling across a pink sheep and I felt like that was a good sign cuz if you were someone who is a fan of Minecraft it looks like they're digging in deep and pulling those creatures and characters into the world from there we also get a look at piglins into the Minecraft Universe who are racing in now it's actually said that these piglins are against creativity that they don't like when creative stuff is done in the Minecraft world and their purpose in the movie will be to come and destroy anything that's creatively made the piglins are also said to be led by one of the main antagonists of this movie General chungus I am not kidding that is said to be the real name of the pinglin leader General chungus who I'm not sure is either this character here cuz he has kind of a leader look to him or possibly this character in the back surrounded by the piglins although I'm more inclined to say that this is an Enderman that is also a well-known antagonist in the the Minecraft games looking at this shot here of the dogwolf that is howling into the moon we did hear early rumors that the Minecraft movie was going to be about the crew trying to help Steve locate his animal and I said this is probably a good reference to how when people play Minecraft they really befriend their dog their wolf they feel terrible anytime they accidentally die or get put In Harm's Way so it's just one of those things that Minecraft fans know of like oh you got to take care of your animal but now getting on to Jack Black Steve before diving into more details from this trailer now Jack Black will be portraying the character of Steve which is a common character profile when you start up Minecraft although you got to admit putting them side by side don't look very much alike they couldn't even get the v-neck right but although you would think that means he's someone who's always lived in the Minecraft Universe and is the reason he didn't show up with this crew that doesn't look like that's going to be the case instead it said that we're going to get a long backstory in the Minecraft movie pertaining to Steve where he first went into the universe back in the80s since he was able to come into the Minecraft world he's been able to come back and forth from it slowly living his life more in the Minecraft reality than the real world because he thinks the real world is cruel mean and hasn't been very nice to him and over the years he's just been building his own Minecraft village and world like here you can see the piglins have invaded what looks to be Steve's Village cuz you do see here a sign that says Steve's lava chicken and so Jack Black Will essentially be the experienced character the one that'll tell us everything we need to know about the Minecraft Universe to all our newbie characters who know nothing about this world and that'll also be the way new audiences get to learn about Minecraft and the answer to what they're trying to do in this movie can be found in the hand of Jason Mamoa here you can see him holding a glowing block it said one of the ways these people got into the Minecraft universe is by making two blocks in the outside world touch creating a portal that they then stepped into leading them into the Minecraft universe so with that in mind it looks like they're looking for the other block so that they can again combine them together create a portal and get back to their world so I totally also get people saying this is a jamanji ripoff cuz you can see those plot points being brought into the Minecraft movie but I feel like they're still doing things that Minecraft fans will enjoy like this sequence here where they're forced to gather material to build items which is something you do in Minecraft at one point in the trailer it looks like they destroy a tree and they get a bit of wood bringing us to a crafting table where they have to compile different items so that they can build whatever they need stone wood concrete you can see at one point it looks like they were even digging into their own Pockets to see if they can come up with needed material a battery an eraser and what looks like a half-eaten pretzel so I don't know I am kind of interested to see how it plays out the main thing that is making me excited for this movie is director Jared hes cuz again he created Nacho Libre and Napoleon Dynamite two movies I find endlessly funny and although there wasn't really anything in this Minecraft trailer that gave me that Jared H sense of awkward humor I'm holding out hope this teaser was just showing some of the Bare Basics and the rest of this movie will be a lot funnier a lot more entertaining but that is all the information I currently have for the Minecraft trailer I am
