early in my career one of the glaring disparities was the rates of gun homicides among black males we should be outraged that we've allowed this to be what it is for so long when gun violence is a preventable public health issue the center seeks to change narratives and this dominant view that the solutions are driven by the criminal justice system we have to approach this differently we seek to Elevate and promote Community Le approaches to gun violence understanding that there are structural systemic determinant of Health we are trusting and funding researchers scientists Community leaders in a unprecedented way really demonstrating the value in Equitable Grant making we want to change the gun violence research field with health focused Solutions and community-driven solutions [Music]
