so we found out how Kevin Hayes got treated from Kevin Hayes himself and he dropped a lot of things today that I was not expecting him to say so I'll talk more about it coming up here on locked on said about him getting traded from the St Louis Blues to the Pittsburgh Penguins okay I was not expecting this at all to come out but it did so I'm going to obviously talk about it I want to talk about Duke and some line changes but my main focus obviously is Kevin Hayes and what he had to say because accountability is quite a nice thing to have after some time before I dive any deeper I just into it I don't want to continue to wait so this was posted by the way from the hockey news I was want to give my sources out there from Lou um quak obviously who does a fantastic fantastic job um writing all things about the St Louis Blues so hey spoke on a zoom call with the Penguins media and basically he talked about what kind of went wrong so um Hees basically said it was a pretty quick phone call um I traded your contract to Pittsburgh on what dog Armstrong said to him so it was through a phone call now that we found out how this all went down so there was no meeting it was nothing like that dog Armstrong called Kevin Hayes hey I traded your contact contract to Pittsburgh so that is the news that's how Kevin Hayes found out he got traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins now I know in other teams players have found out through social media things like that it was Doug Armstrong calling Kevin Hayes which I can truly respect because again I think Doug Armstrong is a Class Act and I do believe that he does have the best interest um Kevin Hayes says I'm very excited to get back into the Metropolitan Division I feel like I've been in the Metro pretty much my whole career besides last year and I'm used to it I'm used to the travel and excited to get back in that division so again hazed was then basically reiterating and saying you know what I'm happy to be back where I'm comfortable he played with the Rangers Philadelphia obviously so I feel like for him being out in St Louis that's s of like an excuse to me um the travel is the same no matter where you play you're going to have the same amount of home games and same amount of away games so him saying that off the bat to me the way that I took that is Kevin that sounds like an excuse that you made about not performing well last year in St Louis but Hayes went on I felt like last year I couldn't really find a role in St Louis and I didn't play my best hockey before I read you the rest of his quote he had a role he was the third line center that is a pretty big role to have I feel like again excuses we know you didn't play your best hockey but you had a role you weren't getting you know in and out of the lineups like some of these other players uh you were pretty much consistently at the same you know role every time you stepped onto the ice so I don't understand what he meant by that did he maybe mean like a role in the locker room like I don't know what he exactly was thinking and I'm not saying that he's this awful person but again saying that he's used to the Metropolitan nail saying that he didn't have a role here in St Louis just seems to me like excuses you're on a hockey team Your Role is to contribute so the team can win but again what do I know right so he continues on with that quote um eager to get this season started to kind of show I can still play in this league and become a part of a winning team before I continue on with that quote to show that I can still play Kevin you had an opportunity in St Louis to prove that you can play the game another thing that kind of annoys me about this quote the Penguins despite the fact that they have cdy Crosby they have Malin I understand that they have some really well-known players some of the best players you know that have played in this past decade or so a little bit more actually you are a part of a team in St Louis that just won the staling cup five seasons ago you had so many opportunities to excel here in St Louis it's not like you're going up against SC in St Louis no disrespect to the current team from last season that were like you know that big of superstars that would over you know power you in away you had so many opportunities so to me again it just seems like he's knocking down the blues so the blues aren't a winning organization when the blues had their 50th anniversary in the NHL a crazy stat came out and they only missed the playoffs nine of those 50 seasons and you're telling me that the blues are not a winning organization short the blues only have one cup but that was so recent again you say you're excited to come to the blues and to wear the blue note and then you're GNA switch up and say I'm excited to be a part of a winning organization really Kevin that just again it rubs me the wrong way because of how welcoming everybody truly was towards Kevin Hayes but again there is still more okay I still think I can produce in this league and I want to show that to my teammates and coaching staff I understand what he is saying about showing his teammates and the Penguins coaching staff because again they did you know take his contract and you know he's with the Penguins now but I also wouldn't blame the blues for you not producing well because you couldn't find a role so to say maybe I'm being a little too harsh and negative but it's so frustrating when you watched a player just not keep up with the team and then he's saying things like well this isn't a winning organization essentially because he wants to be a part of a winning organization like I'm reading in between the lines and I'm not really liking some of these quotes uh that were being said about it uh Kevin Hayes went on I think being comfortable definitely helps I feel like last year I honestly enjoyed my time in St Louis and the guys on that team were amazing in the locker room well first off the guys on that team are are amazing in the locker room some of the nicest players I think I've ever interacted with personally um I just never really found a role at all honestly I'd have good games and then I would have stretches of bad games in order for me to kind of get back to where I think I should be in this league just building the right building the right relationships with the coach gaining trust in the coach and being able to play in all situations is he insinuating that him and Drew banister didn't have a good relationship I think banister was very fair to Kevin Hayes seriously he only healthy scratched Kevin Hayes towards the end when they were trying to make the playoffs because he wasn't producing um relationships aside a coach will never keep a player in if they even if they like them so much um they're never going to keep them in if they're not producing it doesn't matter how much a player you know likes them or not so again another thing where I'm like really that's what you're going to say Kevin went on there is a lot going on I think the style of play that I have is I'm a pass first type of player and I think I want to switch maybe have a little more shooting mentality I tried to make the players that I play with a little bit better around me I think the opportunity in Pittsburgh will allow that did anybody else remember Kevin Hay's passing last season now not going fck andol me neither so oh my goodness I did not expect to be this annoyed about some of the quotes because it's kind of a little bit passive aggressive a little bit um he's saying things like he enjoyed the guys um but and I get that you have to be excited about your new team okay but why even go on to say some of the things that he's saying like I don't even understand um in St Louis I never really found the direct role I don't want to say they're going into a rebuild because I don't think they are and I know hold on what he's talking so much about us I don't want to say they're going into a rebuild because I don't think they are and I know when that was said to me the guys in the locker room they didn't really appreciate it but I just didn't fit into their plans I guess it's definitely an ego shot when you got two teams in two years but I'm pretty confident person I've been in the league a pretty long time I've had a successful seasons and I know what I need to do to make sure my game works in this league and I think I'll have a good opportunity in Pittsburgh to do that Kevin Hayes then went on instead of being more of an ego shot I'll use it as motivation to kind of show the two teams blues and flyers that I can still play and produce in the league Kevin Hayes it's not that deep it's it's not that deep nobody is looking at you and saying oh yeah yeah we're going to watch Kevin Haz now next season in Pittsburgh and make sure that he doesn't do well they don't care what happened was very simple you did not produce on the blues the way that you should have they wanted to get rid of your contract and bring in other talent that we're going to produce okay um nobody's taking away what you've done in your career nobody is saying oh yeah yeah this guy's career doesn't matter because he had one Bad season I defended you so many times Kevin I've gave you the benefit of the doubt I've gone on to Pittsburgh shows and defended you I have defended you so much as a hockey player because I understand that bad Seasons happen but something to prove and not fitting with the blues plans you would have probably still been here if you produced well last season it's not like the blues are having this roster that's going to be stealing cup contenders on paper but hey I guess whatever you want to use as motivation in Pittsburgh this to me honestly you're talking about ego that seems like an ego to me how about thank you St Louis for picking me up and giving me an opportunity thank you Doug Armstrong thank you coach buuy because he was with buuy for a little bit thank you coach Bannister there was no appreciation you were two teams because the Philadelphia Flyers wanted to get rid of you as simple as that they wanted you gone they gave you to St Louis we gave you an opportunity do you understand how special it is to wear the blue note and how so many players seriously would love to have the opportunity to be the center on the third line you have that opportunity you weren't even a fourth line guy I'm sure Nathan Walker would have loved to be on that third line last year but it was you Kevin you had all the opportunities you didn't get healthy scratch until the very end of the season even though you had bad stretches you still were in the game I hate that this is being said about an organization that gave you so many opportunities maybe too many opportunities and here's the thing you can say that I'm being too critical and being too harsh but it's just the reality I will talk about Zack bald duuk but I am not done talking about this Kevin Hayes stuff yet I didn't expect for this to really get me this annoyed um let me know what you think are you an wayed by the comments that he said I'm going to continue on but times but Hey listen if you produced well and if you scored and you passed the puck gain Puck possession you would still be on the blues you would still be on the St Louis Blues they only got rid of you because you didn't play well last season and that's the truth okay maybe I'm overreacting but those comments that were said just sounded very like I want to be a part of a organization we won the Cup in 2018 what do you mean like well 2018 2019 season but you get it um I'm very flustered actually right now um oh Kevin Hayes like I know it was 2019 but I'm M 2018 2019 I was just freaking out because a winning organization now I just want to see when the Penguins penguin's last cup win was in 2017 so two seasons before we won the cup was the last time the Penguins won the cup but they're the winning organization apparently to Kevin Hayes so uh there's that okay I'm a little flustered and annoyed but I'm gonna play you audio right now while I come down of a play that I want to talk about so ever since you've been brought up to the St Louis Blues you seem to really be impressing fans can you tell us a little bit about you know what like in scoring and really getting the city going behind you yeah I mean uh the fans are amazing in St Louis we had a we had a huge game on Saturday night and they were there it was pretty fun my family was there too so it's kind of it's kind it's kind of cool so yeah I like I like the crowd was pretty and you had your 21st birthday and you got a goal on the same day what was that like for you to have that kind of experience yeah for sure it's kind of crazy when you think about it uh I mean uh my 21st uh birthday and scored my first goal so it was a a huge day for me and uh yeah I'm pretty happy and just looking forward for to the next few games cool awesome I'm a big fan of Zach B duuk really excited about him and I wanted to play that just because I wanted to talk about him more today I'm so mad about Kevin Hayes but I wanted to show that audio but I'm really mad still like shaking I don't understand how you can disrespect a team like that but that Bal duuk is a player that is going to be somebody that is going to represent the Blue Note very well he produces um he has a good attitude and he is everything that the blues should want in a player I just cannot get over the fact that Kevin Hayes literally said that I guess they didn't want me um that's not it I don't know I am I annoyed absolutely I just personally think that Kevin Hayes just robbed me the wrong way today is anybody else this annoyed about those comments or am I I know you're watching on YouTube right now here in lockon blues am I overreacting I just personally cannot get over the fact that that was said and then I hear a guy like baluk saying really positive things and honestly I just am quite amazed that he said those things I don't know it's just it's insane to me it's insane Behavior to me but baluk makes me excited like that's like the thing like I'm so excited about bald duuk but yet when it comes to Kevin Hayes I'm angry and I guess that's a good thing that they got rid of him because if he said that to Penguins media could you imagine what was set in the locker room by the way like I'm sure he talked trash on the blues all the time like there's no way and I you know I'm going to be very honest with you I do stuff obviously in Philadelphia um many of you probably know that by now I know W Secrets out no but I do and I've covered Kevin Hayes with the Philadelphia Flyers okay so I do have a different perspective on him which is why I was so defensive of him throughout the season here in St Louis because I have spoke to him before I have you know I spent a lot of time with him actually um in the locker room and you know and I think that there is a part of me that is a little surprised about how he spoke about both the blues and the Flyers um to be in the NHL isn't honored I know there was bad blood when he left the Rangers and now I get it you can't always hate the teams that you don't play for anymore honestly because at the end of the day you're just Burning Bridges but I'm just annoyed because I was always a huge Kevin Hayes Defender and I feel like that kind of just bit me in the butt so I guess that's on me right you cover a guy for this was my one year doing this podcast with the flyers for two years before this podcast so for about three seasons I covered Kevin Hayes three and a half actually and this is how he talks about his former team so lesson learned right um it's fine it's anywh who line changes this is going to be short this is going to be sweet we can get into details later but obviously there are a lot of questions with our lines for this upcoming season now that Kevin Hayes is no longer here that um third line Center position is open we also have an interesting comment that I made today I was on let's go blues radio today so that episode's coming out tomorrow and I said to Jeff Ponder who does a great job I said Jeff am I the only person that thinks that Captain Brad and Shen should eventually be the center of the third line and they acquire a really highly skilled Center to take over that Cent uh second line Center position he was like I kind of feel you on that I feel there is going to be some line changes obviously with the new players that we brought in and on defense too the defensive pairings as well having sud come in it makes a lot of sense why he um obviously got brought in because of nail T Krug so it makes sense but I do believe that you know defense to is going to be a little bit shaken up a little bit um what I like a lot though is that we do have um foxa and I do believe that he will be that third um line Center I know that you know he produced well when he was out in Dallas and the thing is the third line I think the fourth line you know I feel like Nathan Walker is still safe I mean he did sign up to your extension last season so I feel like he's fine but I am interested to see what they do with that third line I think it's gonna go to him um now the Joseph Brothers um are really interested to see what they do uh I am a big fan though of Po I think that he is going to do a great job and I think that um I think on defense you have to just kind of assume everyone's going to do better than you really um expected but I feel like Matthew is going to be okay too um I feel like you know at the end of the day Matthew I mean it's going to be a little bit more work I mean he's a less Winger maybe you see him on that third or fourth line but again I I have a more of a feeling that it might be the fourth line then the third line and they might be able to elevate some guys up by the way it's Cappy's
