leading by nine hand off to Mason had a big first half and he is stuffed on this play Germaine Johnson in there to make the stop we welcome you back inside possession heavy in favor of the 49ers their defense has got to make some stops and get the ball back to Aaron Rogers well they've got to make some stops I think when you look at this first half whether it's the offensive line or the defensive front for the 49ers they they they've won you know they've been able to handle it the Jets have not been able to get the running game going to take any pressure off of a Rogers and offensively the Jets they do need to start getting something going because you've got to believe here in week one this defense is was getting fatigued in that first half pressure on P Samuel makes the catch gets a block from use Che and has a first down Solomon Thomas a former 49er had pressure and then Deo Samuel quick throw pass is caught by KD and he's able to Lunge forward out to the 47 a gain of six Quincy Williams an all pro from a year ago made the stop well Kyle use Che he goes in motion and he is just running up the sidelines and you've got to believe that someone upstairs pointed that out to KY Shanahan on run pass s Gardner back in there for the Jets here's Mason made the most of it third down coming up is CJ Mosley out there to make the stop a gain of one and now two players get into it that looks like DJ Reed and Joan Jennings third and three see what started that 147 [Applause] quick throw Jennings catch first down working against Michael Carter and Jennings is limping coming up after that catch well the Jets bring a fiveman and four elements of a hip drop tackle that need to be present for a penalty or a fine that was pretty close here's Mason over the right side Jennings came out after to that play and he's in some pain he's got three catches iuk has one and here's the end of that play wonder if maybe he re-aggravated it sure looks like it trying to walk it off not getting any attention at the moment second down and eight herie us Che to the 40 another all proe for Kyle yusek in his 12th year out of Harvard a gain of six well the 49ers got away with one there because it looked to me like at least I think they did Jordan Mason looked like he was moving before the snap of the ball few yards to bring up third down and [Applause] two Mason with 77 yds on the night now over 80 and he's got another first down for San Francisco a gain of eight and this offensive line Troy's done a nice job tonight for San Francisco They up I mean then he's on the linebacker level and but if you can't finish runs you're just simply not going to carry the football for Kyle Shanahan they blow this play dead in fact mcaffrey last year had over a th000 yards offense 5yd penalty remains first down it's against mckivitz maccaffrey had over a th yards last year running between the tackles which was the most in the NFL and Mason is picking up right where Christian left off well and that's what Kyle talked about when we visited with him on Saturday that you know so much of their run game is on the edge and yes we've seen we've seen a fair amount of that here tonight but he really felt to have success running the football against this defense he wanted to force Quincy Williams and CJ Mosley he wanted to force them to make tackles between the tackles and they've done that play action pting use check the catch first and goal well they let use cheek get away down the right side Che I just think the guy's a heck of a football player and does so much offense [Applause] tonight Mason well played and in the middle of it to make the stop was Jaylen Holmes who was just activated up off the practice squad the fact that the 49ers have had to settle for some of these field goals when they've gotten down here they've got a chance to open this thing up because they have continued to maintain possession of the football and they have here to start this second [Music] half second and goal Mason bobbling it but a touchdown for Jordan Mason and that caps a 70 yd drive and how they just open it up and then Jason or Jordan Mason you you have to then see the really welld designed and executed by that offensive front and those two guys on the perimeter making those key blocks Kyle Shanahan took over together by the [Applause] 49ers and a return by Gibson Xavier Gibson broke one tackle but can't make it to the 25 he went down but they didn't blow it dead and for now they're letting the return go up to the 30 fun to watch you know good for him having a career night and couldn't be happier for him but there's a lot of people that are making it special because they've opened up some nice holes for him little play action and Hall has got a nice catch and run you know Robert solo when we talked to him I specifically asked about the run defense and whether that was a concern coming into this year now I think a lot of people look at the yardage last year and they think that they they weren't very good if you look at yards for carry they actually were better than what they get credit for but with that said when I asked Robert Sol says when we want to stop the run we'll stop the run and they did not stop it in the first half you knew that they were going to come back with it with the success that the 49ers had and they didn't stop it on that drive either so the 49ers are having a night running the football against this defense hand off to Hall and on first down gets five Fred Warner made the stop Mike Williams signed a one-year deal former charger coming off a torn ACL in the first half was involved in four snaps so they are easing him back in and and we have not seen much at all of number 18 in his new Jets uniform no we haven't and and we haven't seen anything from alen Lazard either he dropped a ball earlier and and this was going to be kind of his reemerging game after the last season and the struggles that he went through but he's yet to have a catch play action from Rogers again pressure off the edge and the pass is broken up and now picked off intercepted by fling and fouls after the tip by Lenor a flag is down on the sideline it came in late deodor Lenor knocked it up into the air and fling and fouls made the diving interception field is an interception after that play was over unnecessary roughness number 99 of the intercepting Team 15 yds will be enforced from the end of the play first down time out they call the penalty on Malik Collins after the interception Lenor made the play Rogers throws the pick 49ers coming off five straight scoring drives last three were all long drives here's pressure and this pass for KD he and Pie cannot connect and we go back to the interception yeah it's never just working in unison and this defense under Nick senson first time defensive coordinator they have really been balling tonight here is Mason on second and 10 carrying tacklers for a first down look like Marshon Lynch that's like I said there's no disguising this offensive line is a lot of good stuff happening Mason Cuts back meanwhile for the Jets Hassan reic is still the lone hold out across the NFL Bryce Huff left the Jets signed a three-year deal with Philly coming off a career-high 10 sacks we'll see the Philadelphia Eagles next week at home against the Falcons on Monday Night Football they make the deal with Philadelphia to get reic knowing that reic wanted a new deal in the final year of a three-year contract they have not been able to come together theyve really not been communicating at all reic wanted a trade at one point and that is just sitting there as pie throws too high for use Che it'll be third down and eight so sitting there and when we talked to Robert Sal about it said I haven't talked to him he held out hope late in the week he'd be here for week one but he's obviously not here third down and eight cie over the middle flag flies and the pass incomplete for $800,000 for each game that he misses defensive tackle tackle quinnon Williams the leader of the Jets D told me he hasn't spoken to reck either he said we've just got to win without him right now two now you you watch this Jets offense and and are they built to come back in a game like this against this pass rush you know they got an improved offensive line for sure what a throw What A Catch and there's Lazard so he had the early drop but this was laid out there beautifully by Rogers for 26 need Lazard because without Mike Williams a guy who can go make a lot of those contested catches he's only really got Garrett Wilson Williams is out there one of the rare sidings of the night for big number 18 not a part of that play as gree Hall gets two well Mike Williams you go back to last year prior to that injury he he tore his ACL in the third week of the Season he had had 19 catches at that point so he was off to a huge start in 2023 before he had that unfortunate injury and it's been very limited in Camp hasn't been practicing a whole lot they could sure use him and really anybody who's eligible getting down the field making a play for Aaron Rogers second down and eight Rogers back pedaling and a drop by ree Hall he's fumbled tonight and that one right in his hands couldn't haul it in Hall one of the young stars of this league and is you're looking at third and [Applause] looks with Brandon IU Debo Samuel George KD fig toss birie over the middle and he's got Jennings good to see him back in the game after l off earlier he's got another first down and 15 yds for number 15 well the action in the back field you're going to see the impact that it has then and why there's no rush you see there it affects the defensive line he sits back there finds the open man first
