let's go into the night with Rick Baloo on 1010 XL 92.5 [Music] FM going to come right out and say it Sensations are outstanding some are of relief some are of pleasure but getting a scope this morning that 5 to 10 to 12 whatever seconds it is until you go under may be the greatest feeling that any man or woman could have and I'll just leave it at that my goodness I've had insomnia I've been nocturnal uh since I was a bartender back at docs on Tennessee Street in the early 90s and I you know I don't know what goes in I've been told before the Michael Jackson drug or or whatever but man it is glorious and then it feels like you're down and out for five six hours and but you know you're up actually you could be down for a little bit of time but it feels like the nap lasts about 30 seconds if you've ever had it before and if you're 50-year-old or obviously you've been scoped before and um if you haven't get ahead of it get checked out and that's exactly what did take place to me uh earlier tell hoping to be here yesterday just way too many complications and hopefully we'll get back to the uh bottom of everything because this is not the time of year that I want to miss there's way too many great things happening right here in Duval Debbie did Duvall and she gone but she's messed up uh some things here along the First Coast and that'll include Florida State on their way down I 10 here towards um Jacksonville they were supposed to practice tomorrow at UNF Thursday at UNF we have now been told this came in moments ago that they will move indoors and they will actually do it at the flex field which of course the Jaguars used to practice in it's right there tied into DA's place you know I'm glad they're coming cuz I'm getting an opportunity to see him practice both Wednesday and Thursday I I will admit though I'm a little surprised I'm a little surprised they would come all this way to practice indoors and obviously they got folks over there on the Doppler and I understand the what Mike Norvell is trying to achieve here he wants to make things uncomfortable for his football team he wants to put him in a door storm room he wants them to get away from the way things have been at Camp day in day out my understanding is over in God's country it's been a very good camp so far okay everything is on dju and that passing offense well a wide receiver or two step up um is DJ o young Lele going to be able to really work on his percentage as far as completing passes last year at Oregon State 57.1% that's not going to cut it in Tallahassee I think the way that this team is right now they're going to be real good at running the football I also think they're going to be real good at defending the run I'm concerned about the QB wide receiver relationship I'm concerned about linebacker play I think their secondary and their defensive line is going to be outstanding maybe as good as to you know rival what they did a year ago and think of the guys including two guys who went high in the draft Fisk and vers off of their defensive line right here in town Jer and Jones now a member of the Jaguars Ronaldo green and members of the AEM Dent wasn't selected but seminal fans know that he was a valuable part of that secondary for years I actually think the defense has a chance to be as good if not better uh than a year ago but I'm pleasantly surprised that they would come here with the weather being the way that it is but they are and they'll be scheduled to go tomorrow now at the flex field uh that's going to be around 9:30 or so on Wednesday uh don't know about Thursday hopefully we get a good day tomorrow they'll be able to go over to UNF and uh give it a go on Thursday so that's a very latest there for Florida State and again I'll have a full report coming up on Wednesday's program as to uh The Good The Bad and The indifferent my understanding as well so far remember Florida State started a week earlier than both Florida and Miami Georgia started a day after the hurricanes and Gators because Florida State plays in Two and a Half Weeks which is just crazy I mean it really is they play on the 24th today is what August 6 so they play on the 24th on that Saturday it'll be a high noon toe meets leather against the ramble wreck of Georgia Tech whether you're ready or not football is here have been a lot of injuries for Florida State and you know we kind of say that tongue and Che uh tongue and cheek because it's um you know I mean you talk about threats you talk about uh hey don't you dare ask Mike norell if a guy is injured or why he is not practicing I dealt with that right wrath a year ago my goodness and hey he's the king right now Mike nval walks on water Mike Norvell can exhale and hurricane Debbie will blow out of the state of Florida and this is all on him he has completely turned that program around but don't you dare whisper injury for not playing I learned my lesson a year ago Mike you won't get that out of me Wednesday or Thursday that is a promise the Jacksonville Jaguars ladies and gentlemen they have released the depth chart see what week one in the preseason provides hey what's next is Kansas City gon to get out of Doug Peterson Who the hell's actually G to call plays maybe that's coming up I mean this is such an exciting week right here in Duvall it really is and on the surface I look at it and it's mysterious let's go straight to the cont let's go straight to the safety position where today there was enormous news Gregory Jr right sent packing released actually technically waved injured uh much like what we saw with um Brent Peterson Doug Peterson's son uh earlier I guess it was over the weekend officially if he is not claimed Gregory Jr will come back and be a part of the injured reserve for those of you who don't know about injured reserve you don't count against the 53 man roster you do count against the salary cap let's look the Jaguars presently right now up to datee according to overthecap.com they have 2,476 th000 remaining that doesn't include the two signings they made earlier today I'll get there in just one second so Gregory Jr if he is not claimed by another team will come back here in Jacksonville he will be placed on the injured reserve he will get his salary for the season and the good news is what they're saying is they haven't given up on this young man he has an opportunity to rehabilitate he's got an opportunity uh to work on you know his game and hopefully he gets better both healthy you know both healthwise uh and as well ends up becoming a better football player he he did leave because of a knee in y so that announcement uh came in uh today uh which I find uh really interesting along with you know the The Cutting of Adam gotus I think Adam gotus just got caught up in a numbers game he was probably the ninth or 10th interior defensive lineman I mean at times he played the big end uh in a 34 where did he sit in a 43 he was a little bit of a tweener was he better suited as a guy as an outside pass R and well they got young guys they like rashim green DJ Coleman you know another injured player in uh in Dixon who's gone down twice now in the last week a draft pick in Miles Cole or is he a guy that is still a backup behind Mason Smith Jordan Jefferson Tyler Lacy Jeremiah Leed better you know kind of in that category did a few night things around here but it appears his career is over he was officially released today by the Jaguars all right so the big news is they go out and they get a veteran they go out and they get a guy that has played a lot in the National Football League in Adrien Amos all right he was selected in the fifth round or excuse me he was selected in the uh fourth round the 2015 draft by the Chicago Bears and of course he's been recently a teammate with Darnell Savage for four years in Green Bay he did spend last year with both the Jets and the Texans but I think this is a guy who comes in and I you could almost expect early on if he performs well that this is a guy that you're probably going to have to count on uh in Camp and through throughout the very beginning part of the Season that would be my understanding to me outside of pass rush end which depthwise remains a concern for me okay after Walker after Hines Allen and after Trevis Gibson rolled the dice with a pass rush end I've always been a little surprised by the lack of depth at safety the two backups Andrew Wingard and Daniel Thomas are very good special teamers now wingard's out he's got a knee he probably is not going to be back during the early part of the regular season I don't know that for sure but that has been commented on and that is kind of the understanding right now as far as I'm concerned that hurts for two reasons it hurts on special teams and it hurts if you're taking on a football team that's going to run it 35 40 times game you don't want Andrew Wingard in your secondary if you're facing a passing offense you don't want Daniel Thomas in your secondary if you're facing a passing offense um I've wondered all along would jarian Jones win that nickel spot and if he was to win that nickels spot with Darnell Savage join Antonio Johnson join Andre Cisco and then give the Jaguars three guys that they can still rely upon at the safety position well what happens today lo and behold here comes the Jaguars depth chart and it's the first surprise that we have seen after everything where we have been told that Antonio Johnson is the safety and that Darnell Savage is the nickel you look at today's depth chart they're starting nickel back is Christian Braswell they're starting strong safety Andre Cisco and they're starting free safety Darnell Savage okay to me Cisco is a free safety to me Savage is a strong safety but he's been playing nickel Christian brazwell has really had a fantastic training camp and he has earned that okay I thought he would be probably Savage is still considered a nickel maybe the fifth corner you know I kind of had it going Derby Tyson again Savage is your nickel jaran Jones is a backup nickel and a guy threatening and then Christian brazwell well today's dep chart says mm that's not the case Darnell Savage you're starting free safety and again chrisan brazwell in as a Niel take it for what it is it's a preseason depth chart but we haven't seen a dep chart it's the first time we've had this opportunity uh to actually take a look at it so take what you want from it and that's exactly what I'm doing as we get things started here but it does create a little bit of uncertainty as to what is going on in the Jaguar secondary or does it really just go back to what Ryan neelsen has said since the day he got here he wants guys that can do multiple things defensively and maybe what you know maybe that's what this defense is going to be all about the one thing that I I I kind of expected with Mike Caldwell remember the great Tampa defenses when they won the Super Bowl and it's not like I covered the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and I knew what they were doing play in play out especially on the defensive side but they were like New England in some aspects during you know Bill bellich back back whether it was Romeo kenell or Matt Patricia no matter who it was as his defensive coordinators were New England had such a hybrid style where they really confused offenses it it felt like in Tampa Bay they could do so many different things defensively that they completely dictated what the offense was doing not the other way around right I mean you can Syracuse can press you defensively in college basketball but isn't it your job to beat the Press isn't it your job to run your offense and not get out coached and and manned defensively it felt like New England did that for years it felt like Tampa Bay was able to do that with the way that they mixed and matched and did so many things it felt like Tampa Bay never ran the same defensive play twice in a row thought Mike cwell was going to bring that here and he didn't what Mike cwell brought here was very Bland was very boring it was very vanilla Ryan neelen again I I'm stopping myself somewhat because I guess if you rewound the tape a couple of years I was probably forecasting I know I was forecasting this with my cobwell and I was burnt uh but it feels like it's truly going to be different now under Ryan Newson it's always different right your third wife fourth wife it's always different it's always the one right it's always different Within new there was a media scrum after the practice on Saturday uh inside EverBank stadium and I I got to squeeze out a a couple of questions from tank bsby until uh other reporters joined the scene I think they were among the most important questions that you as Jaguar fans would like to hear when it discusses the second year running back for the Jaguars so let's get to that right now again this goes back to Saturday after the practice uh it was military appreciation day and the Jaguars did an outstanding job Jaguar players as well with military here in Jacksonville but in immediately after I caught up with tank bsby day nine here first one actually in the stadium um how different is it after eight practices at the m center uh there's no difference you know uh just day in and day out same thing you know a different grind longer practices and just coming out here it's the same thing though you know kind of the same for me cuz it's my second year doing it so kind of used to it a little of how it feels and stuff just taking care of your body and being prepared for this want to go back to yesterday I thought it was a statement day for the offense working on short yardage in the end zone you had a couple of tou Downs included that one when you went flying through the year what did that mean for you and this offense uh I mean you know just getting opportunities to get going you know the field the game out the field practice out and uh get offense going as much as I can and do my job the much the best way I can you know um day in and day out I just focus on doing my job and doing what I can do to help this team so that's what I'm focused on you're going to get more bats this year more opportunities that that's already been told To Us by Doug Peterson how important is it though for you to really master that as far as short yardage I mean whatever my opportunities be my goals is to master the best possible way I can and provide for this team the way I supposed to so I'm looking forward to it and uh just ready to get going looks to me like you've worked really hard since OTAs on your hands you've had an unbelievable nine days of training camp when it comes to catching the football can you put your finger on anything that's happened or anything that's changed for you uh you know just repetition and um catching the ball consistently looking it in and um doing my pre pre-workout before practice and after practice you know just doing my things like that get me ready for practice I catch the jug like a 100 times and you know just doing what I supposed to do but you know it's basically about filling the game out filling practice out so that's how it is for me and um just very excited thank you thank you tank Bigsby on Saturday that is one of the biggest surprises for me so far in training camp the hands of tank bsby I've always really pumped this guy up last year at the Miller Electric Center I did and so far this year I think he's absolutely looked apart make no question about it if the Jaguars are going to take that next step they have to have a bounceback year when it comes to rushing the football with both tank bsby and obviously the going to make these folks hang around please for a little bit so we'll get to that momentarily right now as mentioned he covers the Jaguars beat for the Florida Times Union always a pleasure to talk Jaguars football with Demetrius Harvey young man how are you I'm doing all right how are you guys doing I'm doing good we're doing great here um the depth chart we finally got one and uh yeah let's just go straight to the the the safety position I I was one of those who believed that when Darnell Savage got here he would be a safety he hasn't been working at that position were you surprised by today's depth chart when it got to the secondary yeah no I mean I'll be honest I'm not surprised if only because you know these dep charts when they first come out you remember last year even um I think they had Blake hands at left guard starting I mean that never happened okay so so so you know normally when I read these depth charts when the preseason here I'll get a good gauge on how the team might feel about a particular player um maybe as a backup but but necessarily the starters unless they're a guy that you know for sure it just usually is not the case we've seen out at practice um how they line up I know Ryan neelen has said constantly that there is no depth chart um we can't necessarily speak to specific lineups exactly but I mean it's pretty obvious that you know Darnell Savage has played some nickel they've talked about him playing um he's played a lot of nickel and Antonio Johnson has played a lot of safety um with Andre Cisco on the field as well I think that those things are standard and those things that have been said by the Jaguars coaching staff um so yeah you know this dep chart it's interesting for sure but it's not necessarily something that'll actually come to fruition you know let's stay with the defense because obviously most of the attention is on Trevor and the the Jaguars offense but I think the pleasant surprise has been Ryan neelon uh in this defense and I want to get some of your thoughts but the first thing that comes to mind to me Demetrius this feels like a better coverage football team it it really does it it seems like they're faster and I I always look back to what Devon Lloyd said recently and I know it's been kind of talked about in a different way from other players but he talked about how there's not a lot of thinking there there's a lot of you know we know what to do on every given play um it just makes me feel like maybe in last year's defense or obvious the year before as well um you know that defense might have been a little bit too complicated maybe there's too many checks maybe there's too many voices maybe there's too much movement or whatever the case may be and I think that what Ryan neelsen and his staff has done um is just make them play a little bit faster and and to your point I think they have looked fast I think they they've looked uh quick to attack I know Andre Cisco had a few interceptions the other day I wasn't able to attend because of the tropical storm um but but you know that that just goes to show you know the development of not only the defense as a whole but also the secondary you know we talked about the secondary a little bit ago and I feel as though that that's the most important and the most interesting group among the entire defense just because of how much change is expected you know when you go when you move on from ran Jenkins you move on from Darius Williams you bring in Derby you bring in Savage you bring in all these other guys you have Antonio Johnson moving up um it's going to take a little bit of time but to me it doesn't look like they've sort of um missed a beat it looks like they're they're ready to roll right now and I think that that's the encouraging part I think that Ryan neelon is is going to be able to have this team or this defense prepared to play week one which is the most important aspect yeah Ronald Darby's been better so far than I I believed he would be I it really didn't move the needle all that much for me when I heard about that signing uh over the summer jaran Jones went healthy off to a really good start uh your thoughts so far on one pleasant surprise for me as well so far in Camp that's the performance of Christian brazwell yeah yeah no he's been he's been very good and it's been very surprising because obviously last year um he didn't really play you know he had the hamstring I believe it was or maybe a quad whatever it was a soft tissue injury that pretty much derailed his entire season and we haven't really gotten a chance to see much from him um from from that draft class and so now we're able to see him on the field he's been healthy um you know he's been playing nickel and he's been you know talking about by the defensive coaching St of excelling in that role um I think Doug Peterson even talked about him the other day so you know he's a guy that is is another young player I feel like while it might not happen this year depending on how they use Savage and and how they use other players um he could be somebody to to go ahead and jump in you know depending on on how they want to configure the defense so yeah having a guy like Christian brazwell there and and and seeing his accelerated growth uh is very positive Demetrius Harvey's Our Guest the Jaguars off today back at it tomorrow and Thursday of course preseason game number one will be Saturday night at EverBank against the Kansas City Chiefs Demetrius Harvey beat rider for the Jags covering uh the Jags for the Florida Times Union uh Devin Lloyd 12 to 15 pounds bigger uh really appears to be relishing his role now in the middle and he was all smiles when we asked him about it last week he really was and and it's interesting because you know like we talked about at the top you know Deon Lloyd's listed as a will linebacker not a Mike on this depth chart he's also as an or with Chad Muma um but you know from what we've seen in practice um it seems like Devon is huge I mean the guy I think he said he's 252 but but the thing is Rick I I haven't noticed and I don't know if you've noticed any loss of Step I don't think that he's gotten slower because of his weight um which is encouraging and and so you know I do think that he's a guy that they are going to depend on a lot this season um him just being able to attack and and and be as aggressive as Ryan neelson likes to say you know I think that that really shows out in practice neelon even talked about you know he had this one play where he broke up a screen just split the Defenders blew it up right away and that's exactly what you want to see from a guy like Devon Lloyd who's had some struggles you know in the past of of maybe not knowing where to go and and so slowing slowing the game down for him has been crucial and I I do feel like you know this added weight him playing in the middle him being able to sort of attack the line of scrimmage um at any given point I think that that's going to be a Plus for the team that's the word attack and you know for the third year we've wondered are they going to you know maybe put Lloyd on the line of scrimmage are they going to Blitz him from the linebacker position I even asked him during the presser and again he just kind of smiled and he gave us a a let's see what what are you because it's so hard they're not going to show us everything or or even half of what they really want to do here during Camp when there's full media accessibility what are you anticipating most uh that should excite Jaguar fans about this Ryan neelon defense yeah I mean I I I just think that they're going to be playing a lot more clean if if that makes sense I think that this is going to be a defense that won't give up the easy um touchdowns there's not going to be a lot of mental mistakes I think last year you can even point to just you know the the the the game against the Cleveland Browns um where David en joku had a had just a a ridicul day you know the guy shouldn't have been he shouldn't have been wide open as often as he was and and you know fantasy football player shouldn't have been as happy um and and I and I really do think that with the way that Ryan neelen has sort of orchestrated this defense um has sort of brought them all together another thing that I found very interesting and um you know people can can think a different type of way if they want but I like the fact that there are different players going in with the starters there there are different players you know shifting in and out because injuries do happen and you have to know exactly how to play with any given player at any given time so to me to me I I just think that the the clinginess the clean um Ju Just them being able to to play a you know ideal football game is is sort of something to look forward to if if you're a Jaguar fan all right last defensive question uh it's cool to see Walker and Hines Allen you know with their hand in the dirt um last year I thought Devon Hamilton before the injury I thought he was the best defensive lineman at the Miller Electric Center he he appears to be off to another really good start early on what do you make about him now apparently fully recovered yeah Devon was a guy that I thought too was going to be incredible last year um just based on training camp and what we saw from him even in 2020 um two you know he was a guy that was clearly ascending they gave him the contract for a reason um he had just had his first baby a baby boy boy and so it was just set up for him to have a great season unfortunately he had the back and and I I do think that this year he does look he does look Stout he looks big I mean he dominates in one-on-one um he's incredibly strong I think that he's a perfect nose tackle for this team um so yeah I have nothing but good things to say about Devon I think that he's going to be um in for a pretty good season you know missing missing 10 weeks before you play and you get thrown into the regular season that's almost an impossible task and he was still able to go in there and do it so I think that speaks to speaks a lot to his ability a lot to his character final couple of moments with Demetrius Harvey who covers the Jaguars with the Florida Times Union I'm Rick Belo this is 1010xl and 92.5 FM right here in Jacksonville we're going old school giving all the attention to the defense and now just only a couple of offensive questions all right they walk back this offensive line outside of Mitch Morris I know Doug Peterson said he wasn't overly concerned when asked yesterday morning but when you have Harrison Rob son and Cleveland already go down this early your thoughts yeah I think it's concerning and especially when it comes to a guy like Ezra Cleveland who you know he arrived in Jacksonville hurt last year um had had the issue with the foot um continued to to to get hurt again I forget what the other injury was and then you know this year he's he's he's hurt again with the heel now you know like you said Peterson hasn't necessarily said that any of a concern um but but you know he did he did mention that ezro might be held out a little bit more than a guy like Robinson or or obviously Harrison with the concussion um so to me it is concerning I don't think they necessarily have great dep at guard um and so that's something to to sort of keep an eye on it's sort of like last year you know they came in with um no left guard basically like like I said at the top Blake hands was there so you know it's going to be interesting to see and I do think that that's something to to to keep an eye on you know outside of um Ingram and krik and I'm going to put Parker Washington and there three guys that I thought started really hot and have continued to be hot we've seen the progression of uh of Trevor we've seen the progression of the rookie Brian Thomas Jr uh there was a little bit of concern by some of the media and certainly by the fans that first week of practice what have you made of the offense since really that that awful Saturday their fourth day of practice Yeah you know during that time too the first five days about um could kind of see why the offense would struggle a lot and and everybody tried to provide all the context but you know whenever Trevor throws an interception that's going to be something to talk about um from what I've seen over the last you know several days you know the offense looks great it looks I don't want to overstate it but it looks it looks much better and much cleaner than the first five days and that's something that's encouraging because now that they're able to go downfield more now that they're able to sort of hit Brian Thomas deep you know th those kind of things um they seem to be able to excel a lot a lot better and you know I I just think that um for now at least until we actually see them in the regular season I think it everything looks fine um you haven't seen too too many drops you haven't seen um too much confusion at all um and so the the really everything sort of hinges on Trevor Lawrence um you can kind of tell why Gabe Davis was brought in the big body why Brian Thomas was brought in the speed um and I think that you know guys that you mentioned part and all of them are are are really looking good so so yeah it's it's encouraging I I still just need to see it in the regular season all right last one for you and it's somewhat of an unfair question because we'll know more Saturday night and we'll certainly know more next week when they practice against Tampa Bay and whether or not this offensive line is able to be out there but based on what you've seen do you believe that this rushing attack with the emergence of tank and Travis etn is going to be better than it was a year ago I think it will and it's not necessarily based on what I've seen I mean we saw the goal line drills Travis did well tank did well and then di got stuff that's pretty much what you want to see um but but at the same time you you can't really tell until they until they get on the field but still um with bringing in Mitch Morris I do think that he's a guy that's going to be um a much better player than than than a Luke forner so you know I think that he's the Catalyst for that just having some stability on the offensive line will will pay dividends so yeah I do think it's gonna be better there's it's a pretty low bar so so there you go Demetrius Harvey covers the Jacksonville Jaguars for surprised at all if not only is he a member of the 53 but he is a guy that could possibly be your third safety on opening day as I've said all along outside of dep at Edge I'm concerned about safety depth and my understanding is that it's been Andre Cisco and Antonio Johnson as your starting safeties today's depth chart the first one officially announced will blow you away a little bit again they didn't even have Devin lyd in as a starter they have him as an or with uh with Chad I think Demetrius Harvey did a nice job expressing that it's not necessarily Tom fery but you're going to see things on the dep chart you're going to be like what what's really going on but I've always been under the belief that they have three safeties Cisco Johnson and Savage even though Savage has been working as a nickel okay Andrew Wingard is a special teamer who's a guy that can help you at safety against the run and he's out with an E Daniel Thomas is a four core special teamer he's a gunner after that where where you going Eric howlet Josh Proctor Terrell Edmonds Adrien Adrien Amos has got a lot of experience in this league and he also played with you know Darnell Savage now last year he was in New York with the Jets and he was with Houston and again I'm I'm I'm saying this and I haven't even seen him practice yet so you know I get I get a pipe back here a little bit but but there are some additions now Adrien Amos and even late last week uh the addition of a guy who could be Edge number four in rashim green I I think they possibilities okay I I certainly wouldn't bet on it but I just think it's something to uh to really consider right now defensively speaking this football team has been hit hard early on I mean Doug Peterson talked about it again yesterday this offensive line cam left on Frid with a shoulder he did come back in work on uh early in the week in including on Monday right individually worked in individual drills did not work in team drills there's no contact uh involved Ezra Cleveland okay went down it appears to be a heel Ezra Cleveland and he's a guy that on Monday once again did some individual drills didn't working team Anton Harrison concussion protocol the good news is Doug Peterson believes he could be back working tomorrow morning with the Jaguars still that's three fists your offensive line and these are three Smart Guys these are three individuals that you got to get ready for season game number one I I still though with all the importance of the preseason and what Doug Peterson did say yesterday about you know thoughts on game number one and it used to be just a couple of series is it going to be this first team offense getting a full quarter on Saturday night against Kansas City I do you want Trev Lawrence out there passing the football going through his progressions if you have three backup offensive linemen in there think about that for a moment really really consider what I'm saying now for all I know all three could be bad but that's part of it you're going to put Anton Harrison back out there in a game situation I guess it's four nights away um a couple of days after going through the concussion protocol I I I don't know I don't know how significant the concussion is I I don't know what they're thinking on this is you got a left heel for Ezra Cleveland do you want him to possibly reinjure that you've got a KN You' got a shoulder for cam Robins same deal so where's the importance of preseason game number one protecting your franchise quarterback as opposed to going to three backup offensive linemen that's a huge issue uh for this football team Deshawn Dixon a guy sustained a knee injury watched him go down last week went down again on Monday that's bad news uh on that defensive line Eric Armstead that was positive stuff from Doug Peterson talking about how he's getting closer after his offseason miniscus surgery not going to be a part of things Saturday against Kansas City but could he be pulled off that pup list uh later this week could it be next week uh we'll see let's see some other injuries Jordan Jefferson held out a team portion uh of drills on Monday because of his ankle ventro Miller here is good news you know that that hand which we've seen taped up and we first saw it on Saturday when they practice inside the stadium Doug Peterson says he thinks he's going to be able to give it a go uh coming up on uh on Saturday night ventrell Miller is a good football ventro Miller is a guy that I I want to see get out there and work I'm just nervous as I know not nervous but I'm just I hate using the word concerned all the time but the guy just can't stay healthy and that's such a um that's such a disappointment you know when a guy gives it his all you know he's a good football player you you know he's a guy that can actually help you but the guy cannot uh you know get out there and uh and give it a go 5722 buly one are the chances the Jaguars keep three quarterbacks I I don't think it's going to happen because this is going to be a tough roster are they going to keep a seventh wide receiver are they going to keep a seventh DB are they going to keep an extra pass rusher are they going to where are you going to cut where you going to cut bait here you know you going to go from are you going to cut a tight end are you going to cut a bat are you going to cut an offensive or defensive lineman um they went out and gave up a draft pick for M Jones this organization believes that they can win games with M Jones if Trevor was to go down CJ Beth's a real good teammate I think that they would love to be able to place him on the practice squad keep him in the room if no one else picks him up I've always been a fan of a third quarterback but you've invested all this money in Trevor Lawrence and now you just brought in a backup who has started a lot of football games recently in New England I I think they feel this is the way to go about it they will add another quarterback whether it's CJ bethard if he goes somewhere else and they'll bring in a young arm and uh certainly make him part of the uh part of the practice Squad I I don't think there's um there's any doubt about that uh all right all the stuff in on movies as I kind of expected uh it to be um movie wise uh y y got 3613 boo I've heard a lot of teams are thinking about using their safety as a kickoff guy they won't be using kickers this is an ongoing um really you know for lack of a better word this is an ongoing story that we just don't have an answer to yet and I don't even know if we'll get the complete idea of it during camp this is fascinating to me and you know I I don't want to be a get off my lawn guy I kind of want to just embrace it and say oh isn't this great but there's a part of me that's like what are they freaking doing doing how dare my NFL how dare your NFL goes gimmick on us I mean it's like the ABA bringing out the the different colored basketball or it would be the NBA announcing hey we're now bringing in a four-point line it it just the NFL doesn't need this the NFL works and I think there's going to be a ton of penalties I think there's going to be a lot of kick returns I think there's going to be massive breakdowns I mean how you going to have the coverage here all you got to do is get through that line of scrimmage and you got 75 yards of daylight so are we going to see it be like I almost said like the Jac lamea neutral zone trap defense and the New Jersey Devils the boringest hockey that we ever saw are we going to see like two free safeties kind of settle back or two your faster players settle back in case you know a a a kick returner breaks the line of scrimmage he should have just left it alone you should have moved the it back and had kick returns the way that it was I understand it's for safety okay and I understand that the NFL is so concerned about CTE and safety as out of the other side of their mouth they're screaming about adding more games so they can make even more money they're so freaking hypocritical it's nuts they ruined it they took away the best part of the game the most exciting part of the game is a kickoff and they ruined it again it's it's just think of what you're think of your mindset college and pro it's incredible you take the tunnel you run out the field it's the national anthem it's the meat at the 50 yard line it's the flipping of the coin I mean just think of the excitement as you watch that coin turn over and over is it going to be heads is it going to be tails and all of a sudden your team receives 80,000 plus on their feet no one standing it's a tou back it takes away the most exciting part of the game and now you're going to put this gimmick Arena style football I do I want to embrace it JJ I do I want to be a fan of this I want to say boy isn't this great thinking by the NFL what a genius move I'm thinking it'll last this year honestly I I don't think it's here to stay at all it especially when teams start returning it for touchdown sounds like crazy and we realize like what a difference it is now I I I don't think it sticks around or they change the rules or do something with it I don't see it sticking around for very long it like sort of remember when they could review pass interference yep for one season I think that's coming I'm going to go into this open-minded even though I just kind of melted down on it I I I just you know things work it's it's it's you know I think we talked about it over the summer at one point it's like coca colola had the best um the best recipe ever but all of a sudden some you know whipper snapper shows up and says let's change the taste of coke and people freak out you don't need to change at today's dep chart you're starting Corners Darby and Tyson Campbell you're starting strong safety Andre Cisco not free but strong Cisco had three picks on Monday you're starting free safety is Darnell Savage and you're starting nickel is Christian brazwell Antonio Johnson is listed as a second string or second team strong safety again I wouldn't make a huge deal about this dep chart but I I believed all along that along with dep at Edge and right now I think in Jacksonville Hines Allen Walker and you know you're putting a lot now on Trevis Gibson who's clearly Edge number three not a lot of depth at Edge not a lot of depth right now at safety with Dewey out and and Daniel Thomas uh listed there as well Wingard and Thomas are big parts of this football team on special teams and dy's a big part on this football team if you have a lathered up Derrik Henry on the other side or or a team that's going to run the ball you know 35 40 times but if you got a quarterback that can spin it and
