[Music] hi everyone I am Nicole Adler I am a speaker human rights Advocate and host today is a very important day is women's equality day it's a reminder that women's rights are human rights August 26th marks the 104th anniversary of the adoption of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution which guaranteed women the right to vote but this day also calls attention to women's continuing efforts towards full equality listen to what our woman leaders of today have to say hi I'm Senate President prot tempor Emeritus Tony Atkins representing San Diego women's equality day celebrates the 19th Amendment when women won the right to vote after Decades of marching advocating and organizing as the first woman to lead the state senate I know how important it is for women to have equal voice in our government your vote is your voice hi hi I'm assembly member Stephanie wi from California's 10th District which includes areas of Sacramento and elg Gro on women's equality day I'm honored to join Nicole Adler in highlighting its significance it's been over 100 years since the 19th Amendment granted women the right to vote marking a pivotal achievement in American history while we've made progress challenges remain women especially women of color remain underrepresented in Congress face significant pay gaps and continue to struggle for Reproductive rights as a female elected official I value the voices of women in our democracy and shaping policies that support our equality I respect and honor the legacy of the Trailblazers who dedicated and risked their lives during the suffrage movement as we approach one of the most critical elections since the 19th amendment's passage your vote is more important than ever hi California state Senator Carolyn menar here to commemorate women's equality day the passage of the 19th Amendment and to remind you just because we have the right to vote does not mean the fight for women's equality and freedom is over our rights are on the ballot this year this November and the subit work too hard and sacrifice too much for us to stand on the sidelines and not vote their messages are truly inspiring if you're not registered to vote please visit the website wer to.ca Dogo if if you have a disability and need assistance reging to vote visit disability vote ca.org this November your participation can shape policies that Advance women's rights and ensure Fair representation so make sure you register to vote and vote by mail or in person by November 5th just make sure to protect the progress we have made for future generations to build upon and let's create a world for future generations of women that is fair Equitable and full of Promise thank you [Music]
