NC State Running Back Jordan Waters on transfer journey from Duke and season expectations

Tim donelly here on 999 the fan joined by Jordan Waters grad student running back NC State wolf pack uh here at ACC kickoff in Charlotte Jordan I know what your off season was about it was about that that long Trek from Durham to Raleigh it took hours how how does I mean it's a short Trek like literally but it has to be one that that took you a while to you know wrap your head around how do you end up transferring from duke to State man I'm still amazed I walk in every day like I'm really here especially when I go back home and I go to the crib and I I got on my n state right they like bro you really go to I'm like yeah but it was it was a good transition now everybody took me in and welcome you what what happened to all the Duke gear so look a lot of a a company hit me up they were like bro you want to sell some gear I'm like n I'm going just give it out to my people back home so I've been getting a lot out so if you go to firmont North Carolina you might see a lot of Duke Blue a lot of Duke Blue all right uh how often do you bring up to your teammates at 83 yard touchdown from last year uh not often man I I'm pass that game but it was good experience I was going to say you have to keep that like when when some it's in the back now somebody say I'll bring it up uh Jordan Waters grad student running back NC State transfers from duke to to NC State this uh this offseason um we were talking with with Jordan Moore yesterday one of your old one of your old teammates and he actually said that you guys had talked on the phone yesterday are are those relationships difficult to keep up or or like have they changed it all like the friendships that was the hardest part for me leaving D was to leave my friends and those guys like family I met some of the greatest people at Duke but luckily I'm only 20 minutes I still go down there to get my haircut and every week I go down there and check up on them guys especially my dog jqu Moore pton and Maris Collins man those was my guys and that was the hardest part was leaving those guys uh I read all the preview articles right I'm I'm sure you guys don't but I'll I'll give you a little little summary uh one of the most often named things about what this season hinges on for NC State is getting the running game going over the past few years particularly with the running backs right the quarterbacks have had some success running the ball uh the the running game hasn't maybe been where you want it to be um do you feel that pressure coming in as as one of the people that everyone is looking towards for like the the key swing or that that that key matchup that that's all the all of these Talking Heads are talking about I don't feel like there's no pressure man I I feel like I come in and I can help balance the offense and we can run and throw the ball and we got a lot of great guys that help me do that and I got that have my o line and then we got dalen smothers and Kendra Rafael that's back there and I can't forget Demarcus Jones and Jordan p man they're doing all the dirty work that nobody sees they don't make the flashy plays but they going out there and doing all the Dirty Work is there uh are the transfer portal is so new right and and I played college football but it was pre- portal so it was able you know the the bonds you made this year helped with next year and the year after have you all been able to come together as a team with so so or especially as an offense with so many new faces from Grayson McCall Noah Rogers Justin Jolie yourself Smothers like the Carell there so many new faces most definitely man CU everybody got the same goal and that's the goal win of national championship and now I think we putting people in places where we can do that and everybody's all about it and all about winning and we I think we're going to do it do do you all talk about a national championship is it all the time man that's that's the goal I feel like that's not the goal then we shouldn't be playing all right uh how's Grayson mcco at putting his his kind of imprint on on the off man he's a dog man I knew Grayson before this not personally but just watching costal and the way he play and run the ball the trash talk and I'm I'm all for it man he hit me up I was like let's do it and when he come in I'm like f it let's do it and I we here uh Jordan Waters grat student running back NC State uh before we let you go I I saw online one of the nil opportunities being offered is that they can fish with you uh how legit are your fishing skills man they're legit ask coach D now coach D is you fished with Coach man he's he's he's real legit man but I learned a couple things from him man he's he's the real FR man really yeah he can fish uh striker bass carp crap and big mouth bass all right hey you learn a lot of learn a lot about somebody when you get him out there on a lake can fish though coach de can fish so it's it's it's bourbon cigars football and fishing that's him that's him that's him all right that I think that's a good way to describe him uh Jordan we appreciate you for hanging out good luck this season as you you make that that long track over the road yeah man I'm still moving I appreciate you though
