Maryland Renaissance Festive 2024

[Music] hi B Trippers is anybody out there I wonder um oh hold on there we go um I'm a little bit late starting just a little but that's okay because if you miss this now you can always see it later um I'm Sharon Schultz known as the bay lady and this morning I am here in cranville Maryland this is the Maryland Renaissance Festival they have had this Festival in this state or decades wasn't always here but since they purchased this land now it's always been here so well it's not going anywhere either but it grows every year I love in particular to look at the people the ones that dress up I think that's like totally cool so um yeah so here I am uh if you haven't seen my tours before I do them in and around the um chesap Bay Area and um you can find me on Facebook and on um YouTube and lots of other places I think I don't know anyway hey Sarah how's it going I see you out there so thank for a nice uh walk through um I didn't get a signal when I first came in here so I had to get to a higher point which is where I am now so um I um you know I apologize ahead of time for any uh blank spaces along the way here the signal um May well dictate where we get to go so I'm getting ready to um walk now just a couple other things um my my tours are all um are entirely tip supported that means what funds um my ability to do these tours um comes from everyone who enjoys watching them I um I'm not please I'm not looking for to make a fortune off people I'm doing this because I enjoy it but you know I'm retired now and help with the mission cause like the festival fe uh for here for redfest and gas and things like that so every little bit just kind of helps it helps me keep going so I don't have to dig too deeply into my pockets so okay so I should turn this around but um first I don't know if I can show you or how I can show you but this is the um the newest of my renaissance costumes goes all the way to the floor there but it's it's my um my Irish Renaissance costume because um I wore it to the Irish railroad workers Museum um over the weekend for a program they had so anywh who I have to say this is one of the most comfortable Renaissance Al born so see a much of it as we can so oh my goodness let's see up over here they have play swords oh well there's kind of nice the swords and the it kind of like actually works of art right they're um they're not going to kill anybody which is a very good thing yes indeed that it is this is called Hollow Earth sword works now this Festival this is the beginning stages it um it just opened like maybe a month ago um yeah it open not quite a month ago it opened a couple weeks ago end of August right and it this will run through mid October so they're only open on on weekends I don't know about Friday I know definitely Saturday and Sundays and you have to get tickets online and just you know things like that but you can Google them you can Google anything right anything and everything yes oh look at this C oh my goodness aren't these pretty you know what their costumes are beautifully handmade but I tell you what they cost a lot of money for all that hand workk okay like for instance this is oh my camera's backwards wait a minute I think there's a fix for that hang on let's see there should be a button nearr my camera or don't nearr right then okay can you read it now oh yay look at that I got something right okay so that's a $300 jacket oh yes I am I'm talking to my friends here about this beautiful jacket at that it's lined and everything is so nice they have oh look Hoops for um um pett coat Hoops for the skirts oh and look at all these dresses and they've got accessories underground very cool very cool very very cool and next store what is this oh people can make things out of play Oh isn't this cool if my if my mother were around she would be over here doing this oh look at that made all how cool very nice [Music] do we want to see that why not right let's see how strong these guys think they are let's see if they are as strong as they think they are that's what I was asking you they have um like people that work here that are all dressed up and like they'll come around like you know kind of like traveling minals you know like that oh okay what's we got Junior's going to do it here huh let's see getting some quick instruction there Lord if I do that I probably throw my shoulder out or get a crick oh he hit it or get a cck in the neck anyway go wow good one he's a me how cute very nice little kid very nice yeah those costumes were nice weren't there here's more over here oh anyway what I was saying is it cost a fortune here like that jacket with $300 but then I have to remember that they are handmade but the reason I'm bringing it up is because there are um companies online where you can get costumes for you know less money like the one that I'm wearing I didn't get from here um I probably got it from The Pyramid Collection they have a lot of um you know things like what we're looking at right here know they have a lot of really nice things as well oh nice Cape oh nice wow I like tapes I have one or two oh and that's a little short one what is it called a hooded oh it's a capelet a hooded capelet how cute how cute very cute very very very cute okay now we got Kitty Fashions look at the pint size dress pint size what's we got in here up everything that the adults have just smaller see here see Marty magic that's what it's called it's called Marty magic look at that up there everything the realism here is so cool because they totally pay attention to detail right so here's some nice silver or compter earrings necklaces I've got a few things here in there I have a few pieces of jewelry that I got from here but I'm not um wearing any at the moment oh dragon ear cuffs oh I like ear cuffs I don't know about draging them what is this you can you can walk you can walk around with your bottle of wine look at that ni what else do they have in there think they have shoes too ooh wow J got it look at that wow huh hey it's like half a dozen in a row right or is he going for a full dozen holy moly or is he going till he misses until he runs out of strength [Music] he is rocking whoa too cool right does anybody count this down should would let me know if you figure it out oh my goodness jeez how long is he going to keep it up that's insane [Music] Oh Good Golly she's trying to break a record maybe hope somebody's cting for oh my whoa all right let's see something here [Music] oh jeez okay so the top ones 155 and 119 oh it's that oh my God he broke he broke the record 42 [Music] 43 4 [Music] 150 holy macaron wow all right oh he gets a break oh he's not done oh my God he is not done W you get a break he's not done that's amazing and all he got just now was a drink of water and he's ready to carry on wow I don't know if you can I guess you can the all the different costumes you know a lot of people you know improvise as well you know it's kind of like a mix of uh um the Renaissance period in Old England and I swear there's some Star Wars in here as well usually there's Pixies I haven't um I haven't seen any Pixies today lots of food here too see we got chicken and and ribs onion rings now did they have snowballs back in the Renaissance resp times you know H who knows look here's some uh let's see meat and wine that's true and boil thats yum here's a um a sitting area looks like there's a line to get in there too FR salad ice cream that's new that's totally new I come here every year actually more than once per season at least twice sometimes three times like I'm here now but um I'm also coming back with my family in October so that's pretty neat so this is the old gy lot of uh puzzle things yeah a lot of lot of puzzles oh Celtic jewelry oh I knew they would do this to me I love my Irish stuff so let's see may have to come back and buy something that's how I am right oh well I was also traumatized it's a lot um that jewelry is a lot heavier than what I would wear I don't like being bogged down I guess you could say I have um let see if I can turn it wrong I have this oh come on there we go I have this bracelet that I got in Dublin and all it is um is some green leather secured by a shamrock button so yeah hey Judy how's life been treating you hey did you guys believe that Summer's almost over is that not insane now look at these masks W right they get aome there's some more look I like the the ones look they look like leaves that's pretty neat huh look here's a Le oh interesting okay these FKS they're getting their hair br it how cool I've always wanted to do that but never have they'd probably hate to see me coming because my hair is so [Music] long I might as well get down from here there's a there's your choice of braid see I love that my daughter could do that for me she knows how to French braid and she's forever looking upgrading on um YouTube oh look here's a maze for the kids Renaissance Festival it's the nice painting drawing from 2022 so then you've got that n in there and not cool don't look like there's any kids in it though at the moment well here's another let's see what is this a theater H they have shows and such here I wonder if um I wonder when the next show is H what are these guys watching oh I think um I think this is jousting oh my goodness look it's packed like 3D holy moly jerky vegetarian jerky I don't see any [Music] spots oh they're not not doing anything right at the moment they're either getting ready to or they finished see if we can get in here look you see all these people standing and what they're standing behind is a ton of seats there's a lot of people here watching that oh here's Shields to go with your sword you can have a beautiful wooden Shield together with your beautiful wooden knife and swords right and Spears you there's tons and tons of people as you can see that is the uh supposed King of the Kingdom up here's more swords still wood just colors de oh hold on hold on okay that's a dead end that's not working the other side isn't much better so oh look real bows and they're not for sale wow wow anyway what your what the what's going on here is jousting jousting believe it or not is the state um sport of Maryland jousting [Music] so oh nice breeze just Blowing by now starting to get a bit toasty out here with the sun okay what is this oh like our K you've got um the knife throw ax throws that's pretty neat let's see what do we have over here something strange I [Music] think okay kind of like uh like an arcade kind of like a pinball machine right look at the that's cool I wonder if they really had something like that or if they just improvised on the modern uh model hard absolutely all 500 points think they might be uh starting to do something over here oh the music's coming from over there let's go check it out oh look you see people um like this couple over here they're eating roasted turkey legs that is like a a big thing um in olden days I'm thinking um there's a stand over there that sells the turkey legs so wow look at these costumes fabulous right [Music] each [Music] Mak okay off to find a shadier Grove oh isn't that refreshing looking pretty little Fountain temperature was only supposed to be 80 degrees today and um it might well be just 80 degrees don't [Music] know okay let's see what else we have games [Music] so this little area here is called The bu's Head Tavern it has the I think it's the biggest seating area here and um you know like any Tavern music and Ale right [Music] now look prel dogs mini corn dogs tell me they had those in whenever this was supposed to be 1600 something something there are so many people here it's crazy right [Music] oops sorry let's see all right we need to go which way this way SP that way okay yeah let's see what we got going on down this way oh look at the butterfly wings huh Once Upon a Time my grandkids would be loving them aren't they pretty I have granddaughters but much as I tried they weren't girly girls oh well all right what we have down this way we've got leather masks over here and we have Furs fine leather and Furs look it's a bunch of Tails a bunch of Furry Tails oh look at that and these they look even more realistic right look at that pretty fountain see what else do we have across the way it's a lot of food over there let's see ah thanes potatoes Belgian waffles cannonballs whatever they are some kind of oh they're meatballs okay barbecue meatballs and interesting we got wine over there place called The Brass Dragon what do we have oh tapestry oh pillows aren't they pretty oh you're different the tapestri pricey okay all right now tell me about this somebody enlighten me okay look these are Bell okay they're Bell pulls now the only thing I could think that you would have a bell pull for is if you had a bell that you would use to summon your servants your housekeeper your butler your whatever all right so who still summons their servants with a bell P anybody oh look at this lady well dressed lady behind the counter oh my goodness for you lady is she beautiful she looks like my cousin I think they were oh I love shiny things Lord help me I love shiny things no you're right there go right oh look this is the line for the ATM machine huh funny right okay I'm trying to uh I'm trying not to get too close to people because not everybody wants to be on camera you know they there I mean some people yeah for valid reasons you know whatever they may be person reasons but um yeah that's that's why you see on on television all the when they're showing a a news clip all the faces are blocked out of anybody nearby right holy crap look at that that's a thirst a mocha coffee smoothie now I know they didn't have that right they're all drinking ale back then that's probably what got them in trouble there's a photography studio lots of photographs and such okay this is the last look at this oh [Music] wow look at that just goes on and on and on and on well that one's pretty cheap wow wow that's that's inry know what we have here oh putting Flowers in Your Hair there the nice things in the hair h okay those are barrels it's a Brigadoon barrel company interesting wasn't Brigadoon the um that fictitious Scottish um Magical Kingdom right art of the wood oh look at that nice nice nice oh my goodness it's not a festival without face painting M my my my mind I wonder if they did that back then this place is hammocks and this is a a face painting oh look they have shepherd's pie in a pocket and interesting funnel cakes drinks oh oh look at this Scotch eggs oh my gosh oh they got expensive Scotch eggs oh jeez they are so good I learned how to make something that oh look at this uh what do you call that is it a gazebo not really a Pera not really not really okay so what else they have mac and cheese on a stick have you ever drag mashed potatoes cheese bread beef fingers with white pepper country gravy oh my goodness oh fried pickles have you ever had fried pickles oh my God they're so good deep fried pickles oh yeah awesome stuff well they have a lot of uh a lot of varieties to choose from they have a lot of venders look at this cheese stick on a steak no cheesecake on a steak cheesecake on a steak and fried ice cream and then chocolate covered strawberries Crepes nice I love the shade of areas I won't lie and iced herbal tea iced her ice herble tea IC or hot coffee what about IC or hot herble tea see the whiteart tavern they have a nice seing area over there too don't they definitely okay we got sausage on the stick hm if they had sausage on the stick then maybe they did maybe that was the Forerunner of the hot dogs the corn dogs on his stick never know oh sweet buttered corn oh look that's on a stick too huh look somebody's not I Happy House of House of musical Traditions oh my goodness got a freaking line has all kinds of little gadgets and stuff and that NE oh they got belly dancing things [Music] too little guitars oh here's there's more stuff oh you know I like this thing [Music] let's see we've got journals anybody do journals scented copper roses huh scented coer roses what do they have here I love water features those are nice yeah not to mention how relaxing it sounds even in all this chaos okay down the ramp we go there's the journals thought I saw a sign for journals guys get lost we're looking the hammer hitting thing we saw that didn't we that hammer H something smell some something's Something's Cooking something's all SM oh look at these outfits wow oh hair pieces look at that I have those at home too I have bits and pieces I mean I have I have a lot of interchangeable things um for renfest or whatever the occasion happens to be I can adapt leure Tru leather and suede straps for your creative needs like that special oh oh man you that reminds me of Wilma Flintstone I'm sorry let's see we've got a oyster bar over here oh cute oh shucks was I like that oh shs here's people that were making pottery H [Music] TS guys oh shs let's see unicorn clothing huh yeah a lot of clothing they also have rentals down here so if you um you know you don't want to invest you can right which uh could be fun then you could change up every year and try out all the different styles you know there's a lot of them so for sure okay I need a shady spot [Music] there's a lot of people in uh in line for face painting right how cute okay where is it I want to they got ice cream guess I have to watch where I'm going a little better right right oh there's that Dand again right yeah just rock [Music] [Music] you [Laughter] [Music] [Laughter] just like not bad
