We begin tonight with news out of Dara Scott where an early morning fire decimated a local landmark, Da Scott. As fire chief, John Robert says the schooner landing is a total loss. Hi, everyone. Thanks for joining us tonight. I'm Sam Olson Roberts tells us they got a call around about the fire around three o'clock this morning, a team of six departments managed to contain the fire, but they dealt with challenging conditions like winds and heavy smoke. It wasn't until 10 hours later, around one o'clock this afternoon that firefighters cleared the scene. Officials say there were no injuries. The fire marshal's office is investigating what caused the fire. The schooner has been a summertime institution in Da Scott for decades. The restaurant and its large river front deck have been a home to music fans who have enjoyed countless outdoor performances over the years. All the locals come, all the tourists come here. The music is great. The people are wonderful. The food is excellent. It's just total ambience. You just sit there and get lost in the water going by. It's just peace and now I'm crushed throughout the day to day. Members of the community made their, their way to the restaurant, to mourn the loss and to recount memories with others. Like, it's surreal. It's, I can't believe it. I heard about it in church and I just had to come and see, I just didn't think it would be this bad. I just thought maybe it's something they could fix but you can't fix this, can't fix the people that love this place so much. We're told the schooner employs 49 people and would have stayed open through indigenous People's Day while this is a significant loss for the town community members hope the business can rebuild.
