Time to change the clocks! Will daylight saving ever stop?

Intro 637 and happening this weekend for shaving off an hour because of daylight saving time. So you'll probably be a little tired come next Monday. But there are several reasons why the Commonwealth has not seen an end to standard time. Fox 43 sir. Williams joins us now live in the studio with the timeline of the proposed legislation. Good morning, sir. Bills Good morning. So back in the 2021 2022 session, Republican State Representative Ryan mckenzie introduced House Bill 335 which is asking to the Uniform Act of 19 or excuse me, 1966 and keep daylight saving time year round now, although it was passed in the State House, it failed to gain enough traction in the State Senate. Then in 2023 that session, State Senator Scott Martin reintroduced a resolution urging the federal government to allow states to choose for themselves which time procedure to follow that motion is still pending. And so is another motion because Representative mckenzie reintroduced another bill. This is how Bill 272 which calls for observing daylight saving time year round in the Commonwealth. Now, as of right now. House Bill 272 is currently under consideration by the House State Government Committee. But when I reached out to Representative mckenzie's office, Your thoughts he declined an interview but told me they would need action from both federal and state governments. There's also a similar bill in the Senate sponsored by Senator Lisa Baco, asking to amend the Uniform Time Act of 1966. So we wanted to know what you guys thought about springing forward and falling back, getting up early and maybe sleeping in late. And you guys answered, we posed this question in our Facebook. Would you like to see the end of daylight saving time? And of course, the answers varied, but the majority of the answers called for ending daylight saving time and making standard time permanent. Now, I asked you guys earlier what you preferred, but I wanna ask you guys, how hard is it to adjust for you? I know I have to keep pushing my cat's, uh, feeding time a little earlier as we're getting closer to the weekend. But what's the hardest part about springing forward and falling back for you guys? Well, I mean, just for on our schedule, everyone's excited about that extra hour of sunlight and how it pushes that. But that also means that it's still really, really bright out when we're going to sleep. So, from our perspective, that's, that's a big no, no. And just losing sleep on these hours alone is very difficult I mean, I know, you know, we've been doing this shift for years and yeah, you're gonna be very tired on Monday, but we'll get through it. Right. The blackout curtains are a plus. I have those too. Yeah. Well, we will continue to monitor the, monitor the proposed legislation and keep you posted on its progress. So make sure you head to Fox 40 three.com for any more information. Thanks, sir. I'll check back in with you soon.
