coach first scrimmage of fall Camp um what uh what did you like out there and and what uh what looks to need some improvements yeah I mean first scrimmage we're at practice nine right now in training camp and I thought there were some really good things um I think what you saw is as you saw guys competing one offense would make some plays one defense would step up and make some plays same thing with the twos and threes um you know what I told them is I was really proud of the work that we put in up until now um I think that we have grown in each and every area that we've installed so far um where we have to get a little bit better is is cleaning up the details of our fundamentals um and then situational football whether it's two-minute low Red Zone goal line the things that win and lose your football games especially at the end or the things that we're going to have to focus on you uh you don't get the preseason games like like in the NFL how important are nights like tonight you guys have you know three weeks of practice before the season but only only a couple of these before before week one yeah I actually just to our team about that I mean each practice is critical uh it's important that we maximize each opportunity to get better and um I think when you don't have pre-season games it's good when you have a lot of veterans like we do um where you know you're getting great competition and you're making each other better um on each side of the ball uh but it is truly hard to put them in those game likee situations but you know that's what you try to do as a coaches try to put them in those game likee situations the pressure moments that they need to feel that they're going to f you know whether it's at Wisconsin or at Ohio State or you know here in Waldo I mean it's different when you when you're in those live games first time you got to see a new offense in somewhat of a a real game like atmosphere are they up to speed and how is how was install going with the offense yeah I was really pleased with the offense and where we're at I would not say that we're up to speed I don't think coach Bill or any of our offensive players would say that either I think we all know that we have a lot of work left to do that's what training camp is four uh we're about halfway through training camp we're practice number nine uh but we've got about eight practices left before we start our preparation for Wisconsin in our first game uh but I really like the progress that we have you know I think one of the things that we're really doing is we're doing what our what our players and Personnel does best um we're playing to their strengths we're putting them in position to succeed uh we're going to run the football well with our offensive line it starts up there um and then the play action pass game and being able to uh uh throw the ball down the field um it's what we're GNA have to do offensively to create an explosive play it's such a such a wide ranged question but what do you need to see in these next eight practices what does this team need to do to take that next step forward before week one yeah continue to put in the work like we had the first nine days I mean I think you know when you start early in training camp it's easy everybody's excited what's hard is is once your body gets tired you get sore you start to hit that wall now can you force yourself to do those little things to show up every single day and give your best that's what I want to see from a high level view from an effort and attitude standpoint um from a technique standpoint just cleaning up the little details so that we're fundamentally sound uh that we can play fast and physical and if we do that we will put ourselves as a team in position to to to win a lot of games
