hey welcome back to the channel finally after two weeks today we're talking about Jeremy fin Lon and his homophobic slur against essendon we're going to go into a deep dive and have a look and see if it was as bad as they say it is now this happened Port versus essendon a few weeks back and fin L was being investigated by the AFL uh after admitting to a homophobic slur I think it happened in the third quarter he probably called the endm player a we don't know who the endm player is because they won't tell us but I think I figured out who it might be so if we have a look here it says it was picked up by the onfield Umpire microphones so supposedly the umpires heard it and then at 34 Time Finn L made the club aware during the break and I think he told Ken hinley which would explain why at the final siren he was on the bench and then after the match he supposedly went up to the S player and apologized and this footage is actually on KO but you can't record off KO but it looks like it might be J cwell that he said it to because that's who he apologized to after the game you can see it on KO in the postmatch interview when Conor Rose is being interviewed and of course you got Fox footy reporting on it a pretty unsavory moment in what's been an absolutely thrilling weekend of football well I guess if he actually did go up to the match committee and let them know at 3 quter time and then he also came out and apologized for it it shouldn't be that big of a deal right but of course they're going to make it into something that's not so from this he ended up getting suspended for for three matches for making the slur which is probably a very severe penalty for someone who has just said a couple of words um especially since he came out and said that he was sorry for it and actually reported it himself but it also says it was called out by the bombers during the match I can't imagine ratting on another player for a few words I mean it's pretty sad so it says here after the match he apologized to the Target which I think was J cwell and on Sunday he made a formal apology describing his words as unacceptable now in addition to the three- game ban he's also needing to complete a pride in sport education course which he had to pay for which is again a harsh penalty now the only thing that's interesting here is that Port Adela ended up going three in one they played freem manal the next week and they only just beat freem manal and then of course this week now they've been smashed by Collingwood so they could have used Jeremy finlon in both of those games but because the AFL is PC Port Adela had to follow their you know the way they have to do things and so they can't actually fight it and say no we wanted to play but in those two games he would have been really handy as a forward he kicked three goals against essendon in his last match now a lot of this comes back to the alist Clarkson incident that happened preseason when he was find $20,000 for just calling someone a I mean he called Jimmy Webster that uh and chased after him that was still a little bit different to this incident but then it goes on to say these words are hurtful and totally unacceptable and has no place in football but funny enough Clarkson is 55 and fin L is 28 so they come from different Generations so clearly it hasn't been Stamped Out of the game and people don't have enough education on it but having said that who says what words are acceptable and what words aren't both of these guys are not homophobic and just saying a few words to another player and not even at a a gay person makes no sense here and they tow the party line and say we will improve our game and make it as safe as an inclusive environment for all anybody can play well any male can play for any club no matter what their sexual preference is so it already is 100% inclusive and the funny thing to me is the way they keep dancing around this stuff so here he says the word I used has no place in our society or our game why don't you actually tell people what the word is then so people have a clear stance and understanding of what can be said and what can't be said now as you know Jeremy finl went on a podcast which his wife runs apparently and said that the sanction actually pissed him off but he later came out and said that he took it people took it out of context and that he wasn't actually pissed off that the afo gave him a sanction he was pissed off that he actually said the word and let his team down and then you had doofus Eddie McGuire having his say on it as well and after hearing Eddie's comments it's pretty laughable coming from a guy like this who was as high as a position as you could practically be at college would being the president and at the time said that Adam Goods was King Kong so it is funny that he is now coming out and saying the guy doesn't listen and there should be a bigger suspension
