My Reaction to SCSU vs FAMU 5th Quarter 2024 | Marching 101 vs Marching 100

hey y'all jayen Myro here and we're back for another reaction this time it's going to be against South Carolina State University versus Florida A&M University the fifth quarter and I'm looking forward video I will have that in the description below um so without further Ado we going to get started right away and it looks like South South Carolina state is going to be first so let's do it oops there we [Music] go I like the Baseline [Music] oo they opened up [Music] la [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay hold on hold on hold on I think the song is called real be the right way I can't remember the name of the song but I know what song this is nice nice um nice song choice I like that nice arrangement um tubas had a very nice Baseline um trumpets you know they sound pretty pretty decent um the band sound good I like that Arrangement moving on [Applause] it's Africana yep [Music] a [Music] W nice and clean that s good um sounded much better than when y'all played it back over at um at the MX swack challenge um if I like the song that um South Carolina played but I like the answer that um FAMU brought back and I like the sound better from FAMU it was just much more Fuller um nice Unison note at the beginning um yeah I'm going to give FAMU that one right there all right next round [Applause] [Music] [Applause] ah him is so weak [Music] man your Trump is is are holding y'all back carrying this song [Music] you know what that was not a bad arrangement I actually like that um I notied when the trumpet are playing in the mid-range you can hear them loud and clear but when you when when it comes to like upper register music you can they just cease to exist that was a good arrangement um overall I think the tubas man they were carrying that song man they were just piping the entire freaking song the low brass was on it I um when the trombones had the Melody I heard the saxophones with their little part I thought that was an overall good arrangement and I'm looking forward to see what family you got the answer with that [Music] I'm [Music] March okay so um marching March 100 proparazzi did say in the comments that he had to cut off the March because of copyright reasons and I've heard this song before and should I judge this round should I judge this round I think I want to honestly I was going to probably because when I first heard that they were playing March like oh they they're responding with a March you know I was going to give I think I was going to give South Carolina state that that point anyway because I just really like that Arrangement like it was a really really good arrangement and like I said the tubers really carried it and I don't know if a March was a good answer you know to what South Carolina state was bringing and they sounded great F sounded good sounded really really really good but I've heard that I heard that March before I heard that March before and um do I want to give that do I want to score this round do I want to score this round I going to give South Carolina state that point just because I like their Arrangement and the fact that FAMU was about to play a March this like I feel like if you're going to play a March let that be the very first song you play or whatever or play play with a band that you know it's going to come back with the March you know um but yeah again the March sounded from at least a little bit I heard sounded great but you know the fact I'm just I'm giving South Carolina state the point just because fam responded with the March it's like all right I'm going to move on I may take this point back depending on how the rounds go but um for now I'm going to give South Carolina state that win [Music] [Applause] nice volume [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] where swords are state pulled man I don't know I think I like that more than what fam you play I'm going to give South Carolina state that wi man they shocked me with that like what family you respond it wasn't bad but what South Carolina's played oh my goodness they that they I was shocked it sounded good it sounded really good and yeah I'm I'mma give him that win now FAMU came back nice and crisp and loud and that size compared to FAMU size I'm just like impressed like they're giving me nice good sound they sound good I have nothing bad to say about that I mean could have been of course they could have had add a little bit more musicality I guess but you know this is a Fifth Quarter man supposed to supposed to be like energetic and stuff but you know they sound good let's see what you got [Music] FAMU another one I haven't heard from FAMU man man man you just slapped my ass with sound like holy crap y I was just like okay well y'all just shut me up okay um as far as the song that I liked better damn um I like both I I like both um I think I'm GNA give that one a tie because that was a nice answer to what South Carolina state played um because I was ready to give South Carolina state that win but I'm gonna give it a tie because I like that answer and the sound and the yeah that was a good answer all right moving on [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh [Applause] [Music] about that that song could have sounded a lot better if they just have freaking trumpets um I could not hear the melody it felt empty it felt really empty like it was missing something and I feel like yeah that's their weakness man they shouldn't they shouldn't have played a ballot man it's like I feel like their weakness was exposed when they played that song because it's like where the hell the the the upper middle register at you don't hear it it's like it's missing um but yeah let's see what fam you got to answer with that [Music] okay World Wis [Music] [Music] Mo come on tubis [Music] [Music] the sound [Music] man nice triple that tuas [Music] all right family won that one that I didn't have to even think about that one yeah family won that one that was yep Fe want that one straight up there was a lot of um that ballot that South Carolina played it exposed exposed their weakness basically on the opposite end what FAMU play it exposed their strength their sound their balance it's like now they they family always been balc but now they're they're actually adding you know more volume to their to their sound and woo that last song they played just shut me the crap shut me the hell up because it was like God damn just the this sound just boom just slapped me in the face with sound so yeah that that was um that was good and then unlike South Carolina B I can hear fam's trumpet like hubba hubba trumpets man because I was hearing them whatever part they were playing I heard it it was nice and clear so good job um fam trumpet with that and just good job with the band in general um is there is there another round let's see [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right base tal drums [Music] [Music] okay percussion okay percussion all right [Music] I hear that bell tone [Music] okay so I guess there was no other round with that okay let's stop okay so what I'm going to do is first of all going back to the March there was there's another channel that did the fifth quarter I'm going to see if they um recorded the March I'm going to listen to it off camera and I also I'm also going to see if fam you played another song outside of what South Carolina state played so I'll be right [Music] back okay all right so shout out to B World Outlet this is another channel that also recorded the fifth quarter um I'm going to send them I'm going to send a link to their Fifth Quarter in the description if you want to see I guess the entire Fifth Quarter without any interruptions so I just listened to the March that FAMU played I can't remember the name of it but um yeah I'm going to give South Carina State at that point I'm going to they're going to keep that point because there was a lot of tempo inconsistencies with them playing this and the tempo was just everywhere it was all over the place um it was pretty off um the wooden sounded good the band sounded good it just was not together at all and I don't think a Mars was a good answer to what um South Carolina state played so South Carolina state is going to retain that point all right so let's see if FAMU plays something outside of what the last song South Carolina played let's see pretty sure it was um Elsas if anything but around is around so this is the final round right here y p elus we're going to play it's part of the round so we're going to listen to it [Music] la you I [Music] there we go oh [Applause] [Music] ooo good job [Music] trumpets oh how about that to White oh pea julan [Music] white hubba do hubba hold on hubba do I haven't seen that I haven't seen him in a minute I didn't realize that was him conducting yeah but hubba do I'm going to count that as round since it was around I'm not sure why Hunter Paparazzi didn't play it I guess because it's El's and you know everyone knows if fam plays El's like the final song that's itting time to wrap it up and go home but I'm going to count that as round I'm going to give FAMU that win because it it was just better than what um South Carolina state played but um yeah that's pretty much the fifth quarter we got fam with one two three four points and we got South Carolina state with three and honestly the main reason why South Carolina state got points to begin with is their book man they had some pretty good songs and some of their some of their their songs um kind of threw me off with their sound and stuff I was not expecting it to be this close I thought it was going to be just a blowout with FAMU winning but a lot of the songs they played they just had a good book man the only reason why family W is that I think they had a overall Better Sound and some of some of the songs they played was was better than South Carolina but but South Carolina has a pretty pretty strong book they just need to work on their sound they need to work on their trumpets their trumpets actually let me switch over really the only issue with the um the band is their Trumpets like the tuas South Carolina State tubas y'all carried that entire Fifth Quarter man y'all was piping the entire fifth quarter so yeah shout out to their tuba section I thought the percussion was pretty solid too everything was solid just the trumpets man y need to work on the trumpet like I feel like when it comes to the mid-range we you can hear the trumpet very well but when it comes to the upper register they just disappear you just don't hear them and that ballot they play completely exposed that so yeah they just need to work on their sound FAMU has the sound they just need to work on their book they have the opposite problem they sound wonderful they gave they gave me nice clear balanced sound with volume they they just need to work on their book that's all they're they're the opposite so South Carolina they got a good book they need work on their sound FAMU got a good sound they need work on their book so there it is so that's pretty much my thoughts of the fifth quarter let me know what you thought let me know who
