the manager's office to hear from Mike schel plus we'll bring you scores from around major League Baseball the Pod RS postgame show starts now on the Pod RS radio network onew pitch the walls swinging a Miss strike three Robert Suarez wears back for 101 mph fast ball for the final out and the Padre's win the game 4 to3 they take the series 2 to1 and a winning road trip and it'll be a happy flight home back to San Diego Robert Suarez locking down his 30th save of the Season Padres take two out of three from the Tampa Bay Rays they win it 4 to3 against the Rays on this Sunday Sam Le it with you inside our San Diego Studios as we wrap this one up good to have you with us on our postgame coverage Padre's improved to 78 and 61 Rays dropped to 67 and 69 on the season Padre's four run six hits no errors the Rays three runs four hits and two errors and the Padre's now has Bob said we'll have a happy flight back home they take on the Detroit Tigers tomorrow at 3:40 so it's a very very quick turnaround after a cross country flight but you'd certainly rather make that flight after a win after a winning road trip Padre's go uh 4 and three on this road trip to St Louis and Tampa Bay as we welcome you into our postgame coverage we'll hear from Padre's manager mikeil coming up in just a little bit we'll also recap this game from start to finish all the radio highlights for you I'll tell you what though as we begin things here this was a weird game it was sort of a a grinded out long game it started late uh after the very nice pregame ceremony for Fred McGriff who was uh inducted into the Rays Hall of Fame certainly very very deserving Fred McGriff former Padre as well but we started uh a little bit late with the ceremony we knew it would be a little bit delayed but it was just a a long day and sort of a a weird game in a number of respects let's start with the fourth inning the Padre's take a three nothing lead Jackson Merill another great moment the Home Run uh makes it two nothing Padre's get another run they lead three nothing and at that point as we got into the sixth inning the Padre's are sort of cruising along in this game they're leading three nothing Dylan C quite frankly was doing exactly what you wanted today which was be really good and going deep into a game and he was cruising along and then sort of weirdly he just lost command of the strike zone in the sixth inning throws 10 con uh consecutive balls at one point in that sixth inning in fact to begin the sixth inning walks two batters and then a single then comes out Jason Adam comes in he ends up hitting a batter then a double play brings in a run then a wild pitch and just like that we were tied at three in a game the Padres were cruising in and then it became a question of which Bullpen would blink first and the bull pins did a pretty good job in the seventh inning in the eighth inning Padre's had some Base traffic in the ninth inning Xander Bogart a sack fly makes it four to three and Robert Suarez does allow a couple of base runners in the bottom half of the ninth inning but closes the door and the Padre's Win It 4 to3 on what was again sort of a a long weird game in the sense that the Padres had three runs in one inning the Rays had three runs in another inning Padre's got the final run of the game in the top of the ninth inning on a sack fly was a little bit dicey in the bottom half of the ninth inning with the tying and winning runs on base but the Padre's find a way to win it so it wasn't you know all that pretty today uh per se but uh they do find a way to win it Padres again improved to 78 and 61 and now at the end of today and by the way the diamond backs are up big against the Dodgers right now in Arizona we'll have a full look at the out of town scoreboard coming up a little bit later on but the Padre's at worst will end this Sunday uh right there with the Diamond Backs tied with the Diamond Backs for that top wild card spot entering tomorrow remember the Diamondbacks and the Dodgers do play one another tomorrow as well while the Padre's come back home so if you're the Padre's right now you wanted to take care of business you wanted to win this series I'll be honest with you had the Padre's not won this game I don't know that you would have felt great about this road trip facing two teams that were hovering around 500 and the Cardinals and the Rays and look I think you you'd like to go a little bit better than 4 and three even with that said especially considering the Padre's won the first two games of the trip in St Louis but as Tony pointed out during the postgame wrap-up they continue for the most part to play a good brand baseball they continue to find ways to win they're not as scorching hot as they were earlier in the second half but now you had a winning road trip you're 4 and three you come back home hopefully can get things going at home and continue to find ways to win so the Padre's find a way to Win It 4 to3 against the Tampa Bay Rays here today when we come back we'll recap this game from start to finish we'll hear from Padre's manager Mike schil much much more to do on a beautiful Sunday here in San Diego as the Padre's win it they take the rubber game of this three- game set four to three the final Padre's win it more post a post game after this e e e e e our postgame show continues here on the Padre's radio network final score here today Padre's 4 and the Rays three Padre's hang on for a nice win against Tampa Bay as they win Su out of three on the road in St Petersburg Florida at the trout Padre's go four and three on this seven game road trip to St Louis and Tampa Bay we'll hear from Padre's manager Mike Schult coming up in in just a few minutes so stay tuned for that first let's recap this game from start to finish what moments had the biggest impact on today's game we'll paint you a picture with our game recap on the padr radio network let's start with Dylan CE he was great early on nine up nine down Jackson Merrill helped him out in the bottom half of the third next pitch swung on line drive heading towards right center field Jackson Mill racing over makes the catch on the do what a play by Jackson Merill eating up some real estate diving at the last second R fed of extra bases so a great catch by Jackson Merrill as part of that scoreless third inning CE by the way had four strikeouts in the first three Innings of this game that included number 200 on the season for Dylan CE as he once again surpasses that 200 strikeout Mark the Padre's had some early Base traffic against Ray starter Ryan pepio Runners on second and third with one out in the first inning they did not score a base runner on in the second and again in the third but we still had a scoreless scheme going to the fourth inning Xander Bogarts L off with a single Jackson Merill was next two and two the count to Jackson Merl Runner goes pitches swung on flying ball to center field the play B Xander's going to have to get up and head back going back to the wall he reaches up it's gone it's a home run for Jackson Marill off the bat I didn't think they had a chance of getting out of here just carried and carried home run number 21 on the season for Jackson and the Padres break the z0 tie on the two-run home run by Jackson Merill home run number 21 on the season for Jackson like scan said also RBI 78 and 79 tying the Padre's rookie single season record we'll have more on that coming up a little bit later Padres weren't done David Peralta singled Luis campusano walked pepio came out Ray reliever Cole suser came in Mason McCoy laid down a sack bunt to get the runners to second and third Luis arise was intentionally walked to load the bases with one out jerks and profar hit a sack fly to left that scored Peralta from third base the Padre's had a three to nothing lead CE was cruising he worked around a walk in a single in the fourth inning he put together a one two three frame in the fifth Padre still LED 3 nothing heading to the bottom half of the sixth inning and all of a sudden CE just couldn't find the Strike Zone he walked the leadoff man Jose Siri on four pitches he walked deand Diaz on four pitches he fell behind Brandon La two and0 allow singled to load the bases ceas was taken out Jason Adam came in Adam hit Junior Camero that brought home a run to make it 3 to one Josh low then grounded into a double play that brought home another run to make it 3 to2 there were two outs a runner still on third base and then this happened Adam out of the stretch position next pitch check swing it gets away from cusano and all the way up to back stop of the screen and the run is going to cross wild pitch he'll be charged to Jason Adam and we now have a three fre ball game the Padre's three nothing lead has evaporated here in the sixth inning Adam would in the inning with the game still tied at three Padre's didn't score in their half of the seventh inning Jeremiah Estrada pitched the scoreless bottom half Edwin useta pitched the scoreless top of the eighth inning in the bottom half Tanner Scott came in from the Padre's Bullpen he dealt with a couple of base runners but he kept the game tied we went to the top of the ninth inning still tied at three Ray relever Manuel Rodriguez on the mound he walked Jake cronenworth to begin the inning Manny Machado single that sent cronenworth to Third Base so the go-ahead Run was 90 ft away for Xander Bogarts two two pitch to Xander swung on Fly ball to center field pretty well hit this could score Tyler Wade he's tagging up Siri is running in Wade is going to tag here comes the throw but he air mails it all the way over the catcher way scores pades have a 4-3 lead on the play Manny heading towards third he's safe Xander Bogarts getting it done with a sacrifice fly Padres with a 4-3 lead and Manny Machado standing on third base so the Padres did have a four to3 lead courtesy of that Bogart sack fly he got the job done Padres though did not get Machado in from third so they LED just four to three heading to the bottom half of the ninth inning Robert Suarez came in for the save chance he got the first out but then a walk to Ben rvet host a series singled Suarez then got a pop out from Siri or excuse me Suarez then got a pop out from excuse me Jose cabayo single to send rvet the second base so Runners on first and second then Siri popped out for out number two so the tying run was on second base the winning run on first base Padre's up four to three two outs in the ninth inning the game was left up to to Taylor walls who had come in earlier to pinch run for yandi Diaz it was Suarez against walls onew pitch to walls swinging a Miss strike three Robert Suarez rars back for 101 mph fast ball for the final out and the Padre's win the game 4 to3 they take the series 2 to one they end on a winning road trip and it'll be a happy flight home back to San Diego Robert Suarez locking down his 30th save of the season and that was that nicely done by Robert Suarez stranding the tying and winning runs on base final score Padre's four and the Rays three Padre's again now 78 and 61 Rays dropped to 67 and 69 the Padre's go four and three on their seven game trip to St Louis in Tampa Bay and now the Padre's come on home to San Diego for a game tomorrow against the Tigers final totals here today Padre's four run six hits no errors and for the Rays three runs four hits and two errors Ander Bogarts the sack fly in the top of the ninth inning the big difference in this one the go-ahead run the winning run as the Padre's Win It 4 to3 let's go back to Tropicana Field and here's some postgame reaction let's pull up a seat in the manager's office and he from pad R's manager Mike schelz presented by sley food spice up your culinary life Mike what can you say after that one the way that you guys run scored the runs right and then the fact that you were able to come back yeah I mean it's what we do we uh you know don't like to give up Le that's that's not what we do it's not very common for us um but if we do get in position where we need to uh fight back we do um you know Jax with the big two- run Homer gets us up on top you know Ma with a good bunt um then we go back out kind of beat ourselves in the in the six with couple walks but puts a little blemish but not much on Dylan I thought Dylan was fantastic he was great through five and um you know um I thought Adam came in and did a nice job in a tough spot um with the bases loaded but uh bu pin was good after that was really good and um really good bat by crony that set us up for the ninth and Manny another Nic bat and bogy with the situational hitting it's like f Jake walk was your 10th right and you took a lot of counts deep you're that's a recurrent story it is I mean you know um we uh we did a really nice job against all their starters the whole series we're able to work pitch counts take really quality bouts at bats we've been taking good you know at bats against starters really for a long time now but um showed up warmed down just got taking rless of bats ready to hit but not giving in Jackson has that two-play stretch in the third and fourth the catch in the third the hom run in the fourth it's just another game where he kind of makes you say wow it does make you say well that play that's a you know it's clearly a highlight real tyght play and of course the swing was big too but man what a what a tremendous play he's uh he's helping us win on both sides of the ball it's amazing to see how he's come along as a converted Short Stop in his first season in center field and make plays like that um he's an athlete and he's one of these guys just gets it done um so you know it doesn't surprise us anymore we don't take it for granted but you know clearly he's gone out and done a nice job in center field Dylan was almost as sharp as his b and then suddenly was not what did you see and what yeah I mean he was you know one hitter through through five you know cruising stuff was really crisp got his 200 strike out congratulations um I thought he thre the ball very well like the ride on the fast ball he's he was throwing over he wanted to top of the Zone working the slaughter off of it looked like vage Dylan and just uh you know a couple close misses in the six for a couple walks and uh little soft base hit and you that was it we turned to calendar in September now and you got uh San Diego Arizona the doers how do you what's the moood in your clubhouse right now how's the club feeling coming down in stret here uh we're excited about moving our clubhouse is always good we got a fun Clubhouse you guys like to play um you know we just happen to be in September now we're just going to keep going and getting after and playing good baseball so you're going to pick up some ground Arizona was up 9 nothing early in their in their game so okay so so they're going to catch a game and you guys catching him off right exciting time for you guys right now yeah we're excited it's what's it all about it's the fun stuff to keep on a topic that you don't really address because you're focused only on your team right there are some hot teams behind you how big does every Victory feel now we play our game man you know I got zero zero ability to affect anything that happens outside of this Clubhouse and I wouldn't even begin to think or try so we take care of our business and that's the way this game works decision about who would take vas's spot in rotation no not yet we'll we'll announce it let you know Jo Joe mus will pitch tomorrow and we will go from there that was Padre's manager Mike schilz after this 4 to3 win against the Tampa Bay Rays Sam love it back with you inside our San Diego Studios as we wrap this one up you heard Mike say there at the end Joe Musgrove on the mound tomorrow or the Padre's on Labor Day against the Tigers remember a day off Tuesday and then Wednesday and Thursday against Detroit Padres have not listed as you heard there they're starters for Wednesday and Thursday so we'll see how it all shapes up remember uh there's the question of Randy vasquez's spot there's the question sort of looming uh could it be darish potentially one of those days uh depending on uh sort of how things shake out so uh maybe not all that surprising that the padrs are still in the process of determining what Wednesday and Thursday might look like but we do know it'll be Joe Musgrove on Monday before we go to break here I I just wanted to to focus on the last couple of questions there really what they brought up and look the Padres as Bob and Tony alluded to in the wrapup at the end of our our broadcast look they are not as scorching hot as they were at the start of the second half right you look at the last and let me pull it up here to make sure I'm right give me a second here as I scroll up up up on my notes pardon me they're now 9 and8 in their last 17 gam still 28 and 12 since the All-Star break you zoom out a little bit 28 and 12 since the All-Star breaks terrific nine and eight though in their last seven scene um you know it felt like a little bit the last couple of weeks here like they've sort of been shredding water a little bit which is not you know the the worst thing in the world but I I just bring this up here just to not that the expectation would have been for the Padre's to remain as hot as they were that was probably unrealistic but with that said look the bottom line is this as we enter September first day of September here today Padres started with a win Padre's have to keep playing well nobody says they have to go undefeated they have to lose one or two games they're not in that kind of position but keep in mind the Padre's are battling with the Diamond Backs for that top wild card spot right now Atlanta is only a couple of games behind uh the Mets are a game and a half out right now Braves play later today that could go back to two out or even just be a game out by the end of the day depending on what happens in Philadelphia today the Cubs have played really well lately all of a sudden they're three and a half out of a playoff spot my point is this the Padre's have built themselves a little bit of a cushion they built thems into a good position in this postseason race there's no doubt about it they're in a really good spot but you got to keep playing well this is no time for the foot to go off the gas pedal nine and8 last 17 games that's okay I think you'd like it to be a little bit better than that moving forward but the Padre's got to keep doing what they did here today this was not you know the prettiest of games uh it was kind of a weird game Padre's got three runs quickly to take a three- nothing re lead Rays got three runs quickly to to tie the game at three and then it was three to three until Xander Bogarts won the game with a sack fly in the top of the ninth inning to give the Padre's a four to3 lead and the Padre's bull pin holds on Padre's just got a got a keep doing what they did today really doesn't matter how as cliche as it sounds find ways to win and they got to keep playing well here they're in a really good spot I don't think anybody would argue that but there are teams behind them the Dbacks the Braves the Mets the Cubs there are teams playing well so the Padre's got to keep playing well too that's sort of the point of the whole conversation when we come back we'll tell you about our relief pitcher of the game at of town scoreboard and much much more to do if you want to get a phone call in might get to quickly 833 288 0973 the phone number as always if you want to chime in final score Padre's 4 ra three on the Padre's Radio Network e e e e our postgame show continues here on the Padre's radio Network final score here today Padre's four and the Rays three Padre's take two out of three from the Tampa Bay Rays they go four and three on this road trip to St Louis and Tampa Bay now they come on home for the start of a uh home stand tomorrow on Labor Day it's a bit of an interesting schedule as we pointed out a handful of times already Padre's play tomorrow at 3:40 p.m. look it it's a rough turnaround to end this 18 game in 18-day stretch the padr aren't even on the plane yet and they play at 3:40 tomorrow it's a cross country flight what's that a five plus hour flight at least right I mean it's Tampa Bay so I mean they're not going to get in I'd say not that I know when exactly they're they're going to you know take off but at this point is anybody going to be home before 9:30 10 p.m. probably not so uh again 3:40 p.m. first pitch tomorrow thankfully the Padre's have an off day on Tuesday then they continue the series against the Tigers on Wednesday and Thursday three games against the Giants Friday Saturday and Sunday to wrap up the home so look is what it is hand their dealt 18 games in 18 days we'll see if they can find a way to wrap up that stretch with a win tomorrow Padre's do win this game to wrap up the series in the road trip four to3 against Tampa Bay let's tell you about today's relief pitcher of the game which pitcher was able to come in and slam the door shut it's time for the relief pitcher of the game in support of the Jacobs and kushman San Diego Food Bank providing food assistance to local children families and seniors in need to get help or give help visit San Diego foodbank.org our relief pitcher of the game today really have a few options here let's just run through them quickly Jason Adam we would take out of the conversation because even though he wasn't charged with any runs in that sixth inning all the runs were charged against Dylan C he did hit a batter he did allow three runs to score again he wasn't charged with any there was a wild pitch so again you know all those runs against cease but I wouldn't say he shut the door as the intro says Jeremiah Strada really good seventh inning scoreless frame Tanner Scott working out of trouble in the eighth inning Robert Suarez stranding the tying and winning runs on base in the ninth inning picking up his 30th save of the season so he could go different arguments with all three I'll give it to a Strada though he was good in that seventh inning walked the lead off man but bounced back to get the next three batters including a strikeout to end the inning and also add this into Estrada's case today the Rays tie the game in the sixth inning three quick runs in really an inning that sort of unraveled on the Padre's and then the Padres don't score in the top of the seventh inning you could feel in the game that the momentum starting to turn once the Rays tied it and it just feels like Estrada going out in the bottom half of the seventh inning throwing up a zero keeping it tied at three going to the eighth inning just sort of leveled things out a little bit calm things down a little bit in the Padre's ultimately get the run of the ninth inning to Win It 4 to three so for that reason Jeremiah EST Strada will be our relief pitcher of the game when we come back full look at the out of town scoreboard we'll tell you about our player of the game we'll have our play of the game coming up a little bit later as well if you want to chime in on the phones you can we'll get through them quickly 8 33288 0973 the phone number again 833 288 0973 final score Padre's 4 raise three on the padr radio network e e e e AR Eco Water So Cal pod not the pregame show the postgame show continues here on the Padre's radio network I promise today's game already happened 4 to3 the final score for the Padres against the Tampa Bay Rays have I ever done that I think in almost I have I think maybe the second time I've done that no oh Frank says I've done it before okay sorry wasn't thinking not the pregame coverage we are in our postgame coverage as the Padre's uh winning here today 4 to3 against the Tampa Bay Rays and the Padre's now head home for the start of a home stand tomorrow we've recapped this game we've also heard from Padre's manager Mike schil again if you ever miss any portion of our postgame show you can go back and listen to it on the inside San Diego baseball podcast we'll take a full look at the out of town scoreboard coming up in just a second we'll also hear our play of the game first let's tell you about today's player of the game in this 4-3 Padre's win which player had the biggest impact on today's game let's find out who is today's player of the game presented by Valley View Casino and Hotel catch every game at patties and Bs plus enjoy $4 beer every Thursday visit Valley viiew casino.com today two two the count to Jackson Merill Runner goes pitches swung on flying ball to center field to playall Andre's going to have to get up and head back going back to the wall he reaches up it's gone it's a home run for Jackson Merill off the bat I didn't think they had a chance of getting out of here just carry and carried home run number 21 on the season for Jackson and the padr break the 00 tie on the two-run home run by Jackson Merill Jackson Merrill the player of the game today with that two-run home run gave the Padre's a two to nothing lead they'd go on to take a three nothing lead that lead would eventually evaporate Rays made it 3 to three Padre's get the run of the ninth inning to Win It 4 to3 but couple of notes on Jackson are play of the game today because of that home run and by the way also made an outstanding catch in right center field in the bottom half of the third so he had a very nice day at the plate and in the field couple of notes on Merill with the Home Run and the RB today he picked up rbii 78 and 79 on the season he is now tied with Bonito Santiago for the most RB for a Padre's rookie in a single season 79 RBI Santiago had in in 1987 so undoubtedly Merill is going to pass Santiago with the next RBI he has again 79 RBI for Merill now ties Bonito Santiago for the most in a single season Santiago did that back in 1987 and you might remember Santiago also won NL rookie of the year so Merill trying to join Bonito Santiago in that category as well his 21 home runs now ranked fifth in Padre's history history for a rookie as far as home runs in their rookie campaign the list looks like this just so you know Hunter Renfro hit 26 and 2017 he's the leader Nate Colbert had 24 and 1969 Jed jerko had 23 and 2013 Fernando tati's junr hit 22 home runs in 2019 the interesting part about that is that he did it in less than 90 games so how many would he he have hit in his rookie campaign had he played the full season and then right now it's Merill at 21 home runs fifth in Padre's history for home runs in a rookie season so Merl's got a chance I mean again 26 is the record by Renfro he's five away from tying Renfro he's six away from setting the record it's not impossible he'd have to hit a bunch in September but I mean there's certainly a world where he gets pretty close here he hits him pretty regularly now so again Merill player of the game very nice job two run home run 79 RB's next RBI has will set a new Padre's rookie season record let's take a full look at the out of town scoreboard tell you what's going on around the big leagues let's take a trip around the bigs and tell you about the scores you need to know in our outof town scoreboard presented by Jensen meet where great taste meets Integrity let's start with the finals around round Major League Baseball already today Orioles beat the Rockies 6 to1 in Colorado Rangers beat the A's 6 to4 the final in 10 Innings Josh Young hit a three-run walk-off home run in that game for Texas the twins beat the Blue Jays 4 to3 in Minnesota Royce Lewis a three-run home run to put the twins ahead in the eighth inning in that game Mets beat the white socks two nothing in Chicago earlier today Francisco Lindor a home run for the Mets in that one as beat the Royals 7 to2 in Houston yordon Alvarez a two-run home run in that game for the Astros Guardians beat the Pirates 6 to1 in Cleveland Tigers beat the Red Sox 4 to1 in Detroit Riley green a two-run home run in that one for the Tigers Cardinals beat the Yankees in New York 14-7 14 runs on 21 hits for St Louis today at Yanke Stadium Cubs beat the Nationals 14 to1 in DC Cubs playing well right now they are in the postseason race again we'll recap it before we go Reds beat the Brewers 4 to3 in Cincinnati and 11 Santiago espanol a walk-off base hit in the 11th inning for Cincinnati games going on right now we have three Marlins ahead of the Giants 7 to five in San Francisco in the seventh inning Angels three Mariners two in Anaheim in the seventh inning and finally the game you care about the most Diamondbacks ahead of the Dodgers 10 to3 in the seventh inning Arizona scoring eight runs in the second inning in that game so again Dbacks 10 Dodgers three in the seventh inning in Arizona and that is a full look at the out of town Scoreboard on this Sunday so let's just take stock of where things are right now in the postseason picture again that game is not final between the Diamondbacks and the Dodgers with the Dbacks lead 10 to three but this is the way things look right now at this moment Padre's are a half game up on Arizona although again Arizona is winning right now so those teams would be even again if Arizona does win tied for the top wild card spot and then the team that's technically behind which is the Padre's right now uh would be in the number two spot but battling for that top spot and whoever's not in the top spot has the second spot Atlanta in the third and final wild card spot again they are playing the Phillies uh coming up here shortly so uh did I say that I don't know that I got to that in the Adat scoreboard did I say Braves and Phillies I don't think I did sorry about that Braves in the Phillies at 4m. in Philadelphia that's the only game not yet underway so the Braves hold the third and final wild card spot uh the Mets at the moment they won today so they're game and a half out again if the Braves win today Mets would fall back to two out the Cubs won today so they're three and a half out behind the Braves as well again Cubs won today so the Braves if they win that would fall back the four out if the Braves lost though Mets would be a game out and the Cubs would be three games out the interesting part right now is that the Cubs all of a sudden are in it I mean they could be three games out at the end of today and only one team ahead of them in the New York Mets so again we said it a little bit earlier the point is this that the Padre's are in a good spot right they've got some cushion when it comes to the outside of the playoff picture but you got to just keep playing well Padre's got to keep doing what they've been doing in the second half doing what they did today finding ways to win I will tell you it feels like today was a nice win to to not have a losing road trip to win two out of three you know it's been a little treading water as of late Padre's 9 and8 in their last 17 scene games it felt like a nice win here today before you get on a cross country flight with a tough turnaround tomorrow Padres is in a good spot they just kind of keep doing what they've been doing in the second half keep playing well keep finding ways to win but uh look this this postseason picture this race is not over we got 20 plus games to go and there are really five teams in the mix right now as far as the NL wildcard picture so that's the way things look in the Wild Card race uh right now again not everything final yet but that's how everything looks at the moment when we come back we'll hear our play of the game we'll wrap things up get you ready for tomorrow if you want to squeeze a phone call then you can 833 288 0973 final score Padre's 4 Rays three more after this on the Padre's Radio Network e e e e ER water I did it again our Padres post game game show continues here on the Padre's radio network Sam love it with you inside our San Diego Studios fle score Padres 4 Rays three I promise I'm not trying to do that I I promise I am not like doing a bit right now how does that happen two straight segments and Frank and I were just talking about it during the break how does that happen H we are in our postgame coverage Padre's Win It 4 to3 against the Tampa Bay Rays my theory as to why I've done that and for some reason today I've now done it twice in a row where I've come back and said we're we're in the midst of our pregame show when the game's already over we're in the postgame show my reason is this and I'd be willing to bet whenever I've done that I've been in the studio because Frank Frank would agree here that the sitting here at 3:15 p.m. it feels very similar to sitting in the studio at 10:00 a.m. when we hit the air for the pregame game coverage today it just does we don't get a ton of sunlight in here uh we have the the ring lights on in front of me so everybody watching on YouTube or wherever you're watching the video you can see me but it kind of looks the same so my apologies I don't know thank goodness we have an off day Tuesday I think I need it my goodness all right postgame show continues as the Padre's Win It 4 to three it is it's a circus it's unbelievable all right enough of that that Frank all right let's recap this one quickly then we'll hear our play of the game again this was sort of an interesting game sort of a weird game in a sense Padre's scored three runs in the fourth inning Jackson Merill a two-run home run they would get another run in the fourth inning against race starter Ryan pepio on a sack fly from jerks and proarts make it three nothing Dylan CE was rolling early on he was perfect through the first three Innings of the game he went into the sixth inning really in cruise control Padres is a 3 nothing lead but then he issued back-to-back four pitch walks he fell behind the next batter two and0 it was 10 consecutive pitches out of the strike zone to begin the sixth inning and a single loaded the bases then Jason Adam came in he hit a batter for uh the first run to come in double play ball made it 3 to2 and a wild pitch allowed another run to score that made it 3 to three it stayed a 3-3 game all the way until the top of the nth inning in that top of the ninth inning it was right-hander Manuel Rodriguez on the mound for Tampa Bay Rodriguez issued a leadoff walk to Jake cronenworth Manny Machado singled so the Padre's had Runners on first and third the go-ahead Run 90 fet away Xander Bogart's at the plate in a 3-3 game and Xander provided today's play of the game two two pitch to Xander swung on Fly ball to center field pretty well hit this could score Tyler Wade he's tagging up Siri is running in Wade is going to tag here comes the throw but he air mails it all the way over the catcher Tyler Wade scores poers have a 4-3 lead on the play Manny heading towards third he's safe Xander Bogarts getting it done with a sacrifice fly pandr with a 43 lead and Manny Machado standing on third base our play of the game not every day we have a sack fly as our play of the game but that's what it is here today Xander Bogart's a sack fly in the ninth inning got the job done gave the Padre's the 4-3 lead they go on to win by that final score so when you you want to talk about impact in this game that was it right there where the Padre's without that sack fly so for that reason Xander Bogart's our play of the game the sack fly to put the Padre's ahead four to3 in the ninth inning it's very rare we have a sack fly as play of the game but very appropriate here today all
