[Music] here's Brody Brazil well first off we're what basically a year removed from the Pack 12 breaking up as a conference after a 100 plus years of existence and I still think it's one of the most unexplainable inexplicable stupid things to ever happen in college sports or Sports in general it was a conference well put together all the right geography all the right schools all the right initiatives and what they couldn't get a proper media rights deal so they break up last summer more on that where all the schools went in just a second to summarize how things have been scattered but it appears that Washington State and Oregon State sticking with this and being the pack two well they've got four new friends that have entered the conference Boise State San Diego State Colorado State and Fresno State that's a lot of State schools as part of the pack six I know they'll Ste still keep calling it The Pack 12 but point being is there halfway back in terms of just quantity of total schools that they were at before remember for so many years it was the pack 10 when I was growing up that's the way the conference was when they added Utah and Colorado back in the 2010s it became 12 so whatever the situation and the number game we want to call it the pack whatever they're back to six and just to recap how we got here it was last summer and this kind of happened progressively two schools leaving at a time like every couple weeks ACC eventually got K and Stanford Big 10 eventually got USC UCLA Oregon and Washington Colorado Utah Arizona Arizona State went to the Big 12 and Oregon State and Washington State uh they stuck with it or maybe they didn't have realistic options and they were kind of stuck in where they were and I would imagine that some schools saw this coming but couldn't leverage themselves out of this those 10 schools found a way out but two of them didn't and now maybe they're being rewarded for their stick toi ifess and I don't know how big the reward is going to be based on what this conference is going to be so Boise State Colorado State San Diego State Fresno State they'll all be joining before the 2026 season so this is not happening next year it's happening the year after that thing is any college conference and I almost said college football conference because this is basically what it's all about you need eight total teams eight total schools for an FBS minimum that's the football bowl subdivision basically if you want to have Bowl games have your teams in bowl games and be recognized you need eight teams in your conference so six doesn't fix the problem and that's why there's still a lot of speculation about who who's the other Tandem and it does seem like schools might come in geographical tandems here and yeah kin Stanford right back in the mix I saw a lot of people from a lot of different places a couple days ago and this all came out saying hey kin Stanford might be interested in coming back but wow they just signed with the ACC and so could they get out of that would that be easy I'm not so sure I mean this is kind of more of a of a dream scenario than reality but for K and Stanford they're both committed to the ACC until the summer of 20136 and reports from front front office Sports say that both schools all the schools in the ACC have signed in to the conference's grant of rights which basically says we are sticking in this all of us until 2036 with the exception that right now FSU and Clemson they're trying to get out of the ACC and they're doing so through the legal process that's right they're going through lawsuits to try and detach themselves from the ACC and move on to a different conference so might be worth keeping an eye on if FSU and Clemson can get out of the conference then at least you know there's a path and you also probably know what the cost of that is going to be what's the respective penalty that Ken Stanford would have to pay I also think the other thing about this is watching Ken Stanford it's this is about football I understand that but all the other sports and teams for C and Stanford they're going to have to do that CrossCountry travel to places like Pennsylvania New Jersey and all the East Coast stops because yeah they're in the Atlantic Coast Conference being 20 mi away from the Pacific Ocean yeah so my my point point is as this first season goes on and they get to the reality of the geography that they signed up for there might be some more incentive for these two schools to say we got to do anything we can to fix this and get out of here I mean look at the the football unique opponents for both Kyle and Stanford how many times is Cal played Florida State in a football game or the University of Miami or Pittsburgh or North Carolina state or wig forest and Stanford's playing Syracuse and Louisville and North Carolina State SMU why did I put a question mark next to SMU firing myself for doing that and Clemson again look at the teams home and away and all the Unique travel and opponents just football-wise but also include all the other teams and sports so going back to the new pack six again this is partly about K and Stanford situation maybe they're a good fit maybe not the conference it seems is officially going to live on I mean they're not subtracting these two teams they're not eliminating the conference it got down to the slimmest of margins I think you can get because a one team one school conference that's not a conference you're in a silo at that point it cut down to two teams the bare minimum you could get now they're back to six so the conference it seems is poised to live on in some way shape or form and yeah I understand all those schools basically make this a revamped Mountain West Conference and people are going to say that about it and they're going to have that mindset about this conference and these schools and these teams that it's just the Mountain West rebranded now the Pack 12 is able to take care of all this and help those schools come over and displace um them from different conferences because they have a ton of money from when 10 schools left they paid the Pack 12 a boatload of money so they're sitting on a large amount of money they can go out and acquire these schools and bring them back in I will say from the schools like Boise Boise State uh San Diego State Colorado State um and Fresno State that the geography is decent right at least we're not doing the whole conference thing on both both coasts that's ridiculous for college kids and student athletes even with the nil deals that's still ridiculous so at least I like the Geography about these schools and by the way UNLV Wyoming Tain and Memphis are also rumored to be contestants for The Pack again what do we call this eight maybe if we get two more schools UNLV Wyoming I get it toan and Memphis uh now we're breaking that whole geography barrier here that's not exactly Pacific so here are my takeaways for all this number one if media rights deals were everything with the prior pack2 now they were setting an extremely high standard with those schools and their caliber and their programs and their history like 109 years of existence they should have got top dollar they probably could have also settled for something very good for all the schools they just couldn't get it together almost like too many chefs in the kitchen and they couldn't agree on something lucrative even though there were plenty of options and avenues but if media rights deals weren't good for the former Pack 12 like what's this pack six or eight going to get this won't be the same Powerhouse as before you'll look at it maybe in 5 10 years and say oh it's the pack eight pack 10 again but it's not going to be USC UCLA Washington Arizona State I mean different different sports and teams and programs I do think it would be good for for Stanford and Cal to jump back into this quite honestly if they're not going to be in you know one of the other Powerhouse Midwestern or SEC type conferences which you know it's impossible and very difficult for them then coming back to a pack eight situation pack 10 situation where you could be a top dog you could add leverage to that conference with your programs then I think that would be a good thing it'd be good for them and it'd be good for the conference but let me also step back and step aside here for just one second because if we're centering a lot of this about football what about that potential upcoming college football Super League do you know about this it would be the case where hypothetically 40 to 50 schools basically say we're taking our football program out of NCAA we're putting our football program into something brand new it's governed separately it's got its own conferences it's got its own champion National Championship players can make money I mean the schools will pay them the league will pay them whatever exactly it is basically these schools would be taking their football programs lifting them moving them over and putting them in this new super what's called a league it's not even a conference here's the thing though you know they're not going to make this a 75 school thing they're going to cut the line somewhere between 20 30 40 maybe 50 so if if you're setting yourself up to be in this uh let's call it mid mid pack eight can I'm not using that right I know kids use the word that's mid but this conference would be mid if they did it this way it'd be mid are you taking yourself out of even having a chance for being in that super league if and when it forms and by the way I've heard from multiple people multiple times that something like this is in is in conversations right now have your separate National Championship have your separate playoff system basically be a feeder to the National Football League and that's what the biggest heaviest schools would be in I don't know that any of these schools in this conference would be part of that so is this a good place to take shelter and stick with the NCAA maybe but does it also pigeon hole you from being excluded from that potentially so it's good news it's bad news good news is the conference seems like it will persist it will exist the bad news is maybe it just doesn't have the leverage the kick or the clout that it once did let me know what you think about all of this in the comment section below also while you're down there hit me with a thumbs up I would really appreciate that helps me this video and this channel I would like that but I would love it even more if you also take one quick second right now before this ends go down there and make sure you've already hit that subscribe button that way I definitely get to see
