live uncommon Mur a successful weekend over the weekend in Cincinnati and a challenging weekend with all those games and the heat but your team came out of it well and I think when you look at yesterday even though a tough loss what Bryce Wilson was able to give you out of the bullpen was a really big deal for this Bullpen yeah you know guys have been stepping up left and right uh on the mound and pitched very well wasn't as excited I know we had the 14 run game but I wasn't excited about our offensive output and I think that's something we got to FOC on a little bit going forward um basically if you're one of 13 position players you're you know you're basically playing every day you know guys that have delegated roles that don't get to play every day but um yeah it's a it's a challenge it's not like uh another bus to get to your baggage to get to your house to lay down to turn around and come back in you know a matter of eight hours it's a lot so um yeah I think uh I think it's underrated how tough these guys have it um at the same time I don't want to um you know act like these guys don't have a lot of privileges in life too but they do go through some really tough stuff what was your thoughts on how Tobias competed yesterday I thought he really hung in there and and fought through that start over the course of the game you know it's a little more complex than that I thought early on he was a little tentative about going about his business and I think once he settled in and and started going about his business to get us into the sixth inning was with the the shape that our pitching was in was very valuable back with more with Murph after this on the on Deck show built by Menard's on the Brewers Radio Network hello I'm Dan Fields and I have great news definitely my parents uh my coaches growing up for fun adley Rutman likes to play golf spend time [Music] outside and that will set the stage for Xavier Edwards selfishly looking for a single to complete the cycle toward short adamus has it gets rid of it quick and he's safe it's a single and it's a cycle the second ever cycle in Marlin's franchise history belongs to Xavier Edwards it took 30 years arise and now [Music] Edwards was um um I I I've known about this guy I've seen him for years and it's funky enough that it can be very difficult and you hand the ball to Freddy it feels like he's really starting to step up his game the last couple of turns he has he's thrown the ball really really well and hopefully that continues today the Cardinals know him but uh that's all part of it [Music] go back with you on the on Deck show built by Menards Brewers and Cardinals getting set for game one of this three- game series here today at American Family field a Labor Day edition of Brewers baseball the injury report is presented by Orthopedic Associates of Wisconsin there is a difference and only parus is been on rehab as has Hobie Milner so those two could be trending in a spot where they could be back at some point with the big league club good news in that regard for the Brewers time now for the keys to the game they're presented by Toyota visit your local Wisconsin Toyota dealer to check out Toyota's incredible lineup like the allnew Tacoma Grand Highlander and the Rav 4 Toyota Let's Go Places well the Brewers are in the midst of a long stretch of games 10 games over nine days for the Brewers of course it began with that double header on Friday they've had to lean on their Bullpen a lot so with Freddy Peralta on the mound even though the Brewers have had some lengthy starts in this stretch they could use another one out of Freddy today and try to save that Bullpen a little bit more as they get themselves closer to that off day that is coming on Thursday so a big key of course will be Freddy he's been great his last three starts 17 Innings and just one run allowed in his last three starts for Freddy Peralta he's had a lot of success against the Cardinals as well including five scoreless two starts ago against this St Louis team he has made three starts this year has a 159 erra against the Red Birds we have plenty more of the on Deck show built by Menards coming your way when we come back another great bright spot for this Brewers pitching staff Aaron Ashby he's looked very good in his three outings since coming back to the big Le Club we'll Ros to the track and wall that ball is gone a two-run homer for goldi number 350 in his career this is a guy that has an idea of what he's looking for that's number 10 on the season for Goldie as you mentioned number 350 in the career of Paul goldi now he's tied with Greg Maddox for 10th all time get gutsy and runs into an out there it is top 10 all time in strikeouts Justin Verlander Strikes Out Abraham Toro moves past Greg Maddox 3,372 career strikeouts for Verlander the future Hall of Famer adds another list to an incredible career and now he's in the top 10 all time and strikeouts 3372 back here here and um feel healthy um it's a wonderful feeling um but there there's been there's been a ton of people to help me along the way um you know all the coaches front office people um just the teammates um that have had my back and not let me get down on myself um just forever grateful have you learned a lot about the human shoulder through this process how much have you just tried to dig in and learn about that yourself yeah there was um especially early on there's a ton of questions I had for mainly Bren Bren was um the guy who rehabed me down in Arizona last year and um I feel like I just wore this guy out with questions um you know during the rehab process you always you feel good like you and mentally you know like okay my shoulder's fixed um but man it just uh the shoulder one of the hardest hardest body parts to to um get back and repair and um get it strong again there's so many intricate small muscles in there and so um I felt like every day I had a new question and they um just why isn't this working the way the way it should be but um no it just it just takes time and um yeah it's it's um it's a long process you hear everybody talk about UCL and Tommy John but I feel like even though that's a really tough long rehab M there there's kind of a template to what you have to do to get yourself back to being yourself again it doesn't seem like there is one yet with a shoulder everybody's a little bit different everything can take a little bit longer necess you know it's just there's more variables involved in coming back from it is that accurate yeah definitely I think I think at this day and age like with how refined the elbow surgery is Tommy John is um it's just like when you get it you're like all right fine like I'm going to miss a long time but I'll probably come back healthier because of it I'll throw harder um feel better so I think there's there's that and then you go to the shoulder and it's like you know 13 in up from the elbow and we have not a lot of not a lot of um experience or like um like you said a template of like what what's going to happen I think a lot of that's to do with um capsule stuff the shoulder is just such a complex moving um joint and to we just don't know lot you know the proprioception and when the labrums damaged and all of those little small muscles in there that tell your bigger muscles when to fire it's just um there's there's so much that has to be relearned almost and that's that's almost how I describe this process is relearning how to throw um there's there's you know tears that happen in laum that delay response to the brain that delays response to when everything needs to Fire and um you honestly I I think my advice to anyone with shoulder surgery would be just throw just keep throwing I think I think as much as you can throw is um you know going to make you better did you go try to find examples of other guys that had now it's time for eyes on the ball player can you find Aaron judge in this seat of Yankee fans that one is drill drill a judgy and blast that is absolutely crushed judge has done it again it is going to be caught by judge how about that so much fun to watch and there he is yordon hits one into right field for a base hit yordon Alvarez who crushes one deep to right for get about it hits this ball hard to center field back go Julio still going back near the wall this Ball's caught by Rodriguez no yon's going to go for third and he hits one down the line in right field this could be the cycle yordon heading to second base he is going to get there seventh pitch to Gunner leading off the game and Henderson drills it right field down the line that's a gunner oh that thing got out of here in a nan another lead off Gunner stunner and the Orioles jump on top 112. 3 mph 410 ft I'm not even sure I saw this ball leave the bat it was hit so quickly here's the guy that brings more o and Oz than any of them in show OT 3 one key for St Louis today well on the heels of that ball game yesterday for this offense keep pounding this is and especially with runners in scoring position yesterday 8 for 18 with rist but came back to win 65 Saturday and 14-7 yesterday arnado takes a low fast ball and it's one and one the Cardinals wrapped out 21 hits scoring 14 runs at three two run homers Lucan Baker Jordan Walker and Lars communityamerica.com to become a member today the Cardinals on kangam o x the Cardinals had a stretch where they lost seven out of eight and played the Cincinnati Reds Milwaukee bats here now in the bottom of the first coming back home from playing at Cincinnati the first pitch Palante throws strike one into Bryce durang now the Brewers w three out of four but the Cardinals were swept in Cincinnati the Cardinals did not do home run damage the Brewers did the leadoff man Bryce terang he can really run he checks his swing takes the ball high adamus hit four home runs a home run for Chio two for William conteras just going down the line Hoskins hasn't H much lately but he hit a home run so did Garrett Mitchell then the Brewers ended up winning three out of four here's a swing and this ball is hit to W who leaps and makes the catch wh was playing up the middle one quick step to the left to jump and terang is out that's good to keep him off the bases yep he was playing him in the right spot was able to get the right timing on his little jump didn't have to go too high in the air but that ball was hit pretty sharply by terang and you do have to keep him off 40 stolen bases for Trang and bante work John on holding Runners better but the Brewers will run as often as they can here is Jackson chrio 20-year-old outfielder and he's one of the rising stars in the National League taking ball one up and in 20 years old from Venezuela batting 276 120 hits 20 for2 for doubles two triples and 17 home runs the pitch by Palante a strike called on the inside corner Snooks is stepping up to the plate with a sweet treat for you when the Cardinals hit a home run score one free freshly made donut the next day at Snooks using the digital coupon that's the digital coupon only in the Snooks Rewards app and while supplies last that go as a batter's timeout it should I mean it should what he did is he went and got extra stickum on his Bat felt like he didn't have enough on there which of course you had some time to take care of earlier I think they should give him that now the pitch and that's taken inside cherio was looking for something away and had to get out of the way he almost stuck it in his ribs he did two and one on chero who's one for one with a walk in an RBI facing Palante Andre with the side step the kick his pitch right down the middle but a little bit High called the ball by Alonso Marquez the crew chief three and one on chrio with William Contreras Contreras and adamus have really been the offensive Pace Setters for this Milwaukee team this year the 3-1 cherio takes a strike he was taking a walk up the first Baseline and Marquez said uh uh ah not so fast well that should have been strike three that was a strike so was the pitch prior and churro should be careful about what he's complaining about now three and two Palante with the abbreviated wine the pitch on the way and that's outside for a w another guy you don't want to walk you know Cheo a little bit like uh what we hope happens with Jordan Walker you know a great young player a lot of talent that got off to just a slow start of course they signed him to an 8-year deal they bet on him long term and he got a big contract and just was not producing but kind of finally figured it out and of course Walker with five hits yesterday let's hope that's the same for him now William conteras he went three for 17 at Cincinnati the pitch he swings and sends the ball into right center field moving back on it is Walker to make the catch he moved back in the shadows back to the warning track and conteras is out number two now here is Jake Bowers left-handed batting DH former New York Yankee Bowers hits 200 nine doubles two triples 11 rers and 40 RB there are some weird shadows in this ballpark yes absolutely presenting many many problems for both teams over the years balante going after Bowers at check's Wing did he go no on the appeal to Mark ripard third that pitch was in the zone wasn't it it looked like it was the Shadow from the roof John that's again the roof's open but there's a shadow that it creates it's about it's an arc that actually covers FY at first and goes into the right field Corner the pitch on the way Bowers wraps it foul on the ground down the right field line and the entire warning track from right field to well not the entire one but from right field to deep left Center is all in the shade right now too Bowers with a count of one ball one strike two outs runner at first base Cho he's off to a lead bante from the stretch a long pause and he deals when he got down to 1 second he picked up the left foot and missed inside two and one on Bowers who has two home runs seven RB against the Cardinals batting 333 a double and a triple played an 84 games for the Yankees last year and he hit 12 home runs he has a lot of power balante with the pitch and that's topped foul rolling up the first Baseline a count of two and two interesting discussion last last night on the plane with Dusty Blake and about the pitch clock and and what he said is that we probably don't talk enough about how that really puts a pitcher and a catcher in a problem the pitch the pitch clock because you got to get to the right pitch you want to throw uh it just doesn't give you much time to uh make changes to shake off you got a lot of guys throwing pitches they're not convinced of the two- two pitch oh my goodness he missed strike three Alonso Marquez he's missed at least two pitches this inning that was right there well when when an Umpire misses strikes it affects the game oh man that was inside corner well above the knees perfectly placed I don't know how you do that any better now it's three and two with the runner moving chel with good speed at first takes off the 3-2 pitch ball for Lo and in pitches missed to juio and Bowers Bowers should have been called out and and chrio would have been out too you've got two walks and you should have two strikeouts and you wonder about pace of play and that's there it is here is Willie Adamas and Cincinnati he win 6 for 18 four home runs and eight RBIs Adamas with 28 home runs 96 RBIs the pitch by Palante little bit High I guess right there at the top of the Zone called a ball if we're going to have a shoe box size strike zone we'll have as long a game as we had yesterday with far fewer runs the one pitch with 2-1 balante deals and this is foul [Music] off will adamus is 29 years old play but Tampa Bay came to Milwaukee in 2021 he is at home run seasons of 2025 203 2428 this year volante's 1-1 pitch to adamus up and in and adamus gets out of the way two balls in a strike that's the uh early in the game control problems that occasionally Palante has with his Sinker it just kind of gets underneath it and it goes up and into right-handers instead of going down and in and usually he kind of gets that back but uh we've talked about it before first inning second inning sometimes kind of a steing out time for Andre but two on and two outs the pitch a slider away three and one gar Mitchell is on Deck Palante usually has to navigate a lot of traffic in the first couple of innings of a game he comes in with a six and six record a 3.8 er a no decision Wednesday against the Padres where he went five and 2/3 the 3-1 pitch here for adamus a swing and a ground ball foul on the third base side three balls two strikes cherio at second and Bowers at first will be running on the 3-2 pitch you know this uh Brewers offense doesn't need much help John well this offense is getting help from the home plate umpire Alonso Marquez here in the first inning the runners on three and two they take off the pitch is fouled out of play fouled back they'll reset and do it again [Music] Pedro PES is doing the catching today Goldsmith plays behind the runner Bowers at first Donovan the second baseman is up the middle win a deep short stop over a third arado deep and off the line another 3-2 pitch coming up as the runners lead it first and second they go and the pitch is fouled at the plate jurio at second to bar at first they're getting their running in here in the bottom of the first inning after taking WS let's hope the strike zone is just as tight when Peralta is out there big pitch coming up here with Andre Palante facing power hitting Willie Adamas the runner lead the long pause the runners go the pitch is swung on at a high fly Ball Deep left left field Nar at the wall and it is gone a three-run homer three nothing Milwaukee he just got that one out of here Newar gave it a nice effort at the wall he jumped at the right time and the ball was just over his glove that would have been a spectacular play unfortunately a three-run bottom of the first inning a couple of calls not gone plante's way usually that doesn't hurt you so directly but in this inning it absolutely has boy that was a good effort by Nar and left that's five home runs and 11 RBI in the last five games for Willie Adamas and here's Garrett Mitchell he went four for 10 in Cincinnati a left-handed batter the pitch to him and the home plate umpire does have a right arm he can raise strike one Mike goodness 3 nothing Milwaukee the one strike pitch and that's rolled slowly toward goldi he gets to it flips to First out at first with Palante getting there in time 3-1 on the play three ons three runs that is only one hit a home run by adamus onto the second 3 nothing calling all young Cardinals fans the Cardinals kids club presented by Rawlings and Hau is the official Cardinals play here the last two days the Cardinals had to out mash the Yankees they're going to have to do it again today down 3 nothing we're in the second Brendan Donovan takes a strike first pitch strike thrown by Freddy Peralta missed calls have cost Palante he had two walks and then gave up a home run to adamus a pitch Up and Away one ball and one strike Donovan has hit safely his last four going six out of 17 Paul goldi will follow then Lars Newar see what kind of answer the Cardinals can put together against Peralta there's a swing and a foul going out of play to our left one ball and two strikes for Donnie batting in the cleanup spot they play him to pull on the infield the third baseman Ortiz plays like a short stop and Donovan hits that one on the ground to the first basem flipped by Hoskins over to first to Peralta 3-1 on the out let's pause for an ID here on the Cardinals radio network powered by Greybar score big with one Cardinal Way luxury apartments now leasing is standing in the shadows while Peralta is a bright Sunshine so is the center fielder Garrett Mitchell the pitch goldi flinches takes a sinker down and in one ball one strike hitters are going to have a little trouble picking up the pitches for a while while I think that's true Goldie's been seeing the ball much better of late the pitch by Peralta and that is swung on him fouled out of play what I've seen is that he's handling the pitch away from him and he's reacting to the pitch in and just has better plate coverage he's not getting fooled as much and you know it's going to happen I mean hitting's hard but most of his at bats very dangerous barala has the advantage one ball two strikes and goldi swings and Pops that one foul out of play on the run is serious about our hometown team how serious are they John when the Cardinal score six drinks are only 60 cents all day the next day like today at participating locations because on the run as always St Louis serious well all the runs yesterday they ought to be giving you money for getting the uh drinks here's the one-w pitch and that's outside ball two two and two on Goldie I could suggest that I don't think that's going to go very far now the count two balls two strikes with one away Peralta with the kick the pitch gold Smith gets under this one sends it high in the air short right field here comes freelink to make the catch two outs five up five down for Freddy Peralta I think the Cardinals are going to have to be a little more patient against Peralta and see if the home plate umpire is going to have as tight a strike zone as he did with Palante out there of course the hitters looking for a pitch that he can drive and sees it in an area he's going to be swinging LS Nars hit safely in six straight eight for his last 25 the pitch a little bit low ball one over that eight-game hitting streak LS has not taken a walk he is struck out only twice two doubles a triple A Homer and six RB five of those runs batted in yesterday back to hit line drives isn't he I mean seems like every ball he hits he hits hard the pitch and that's taken for a ball four line drives you hit better things happen find holes hit the ball in the Gap somewhere get extra base hits that way occasionally get underneath it a little bit it's a home run two and0 the count on new bar playing Left Field he takes a pitch that is just outside three balls no strikes emper ala wants a new baseball William Contreras throws one to the mound that was on the corner knee high wasn't it was close ball three was the call on three and0 Newar takes ball four that looked to be in the strike zone the Newar gets on with a two- out walk leading to Jordan Walker so the grace area that we talk about a lot which is different than what folks see on the on any app they may have or wherever you might see the the Box the box is not really the strike zone and MLB has been explaining that to us which begs the question why they show it I mean honestly that's that's confusing to a lot of fans just to make that statement and and to all of us actually if if if it's not going to be the right zone why show it here's a pitch in for a strike to Jordan Walker at a five for Five Day at Yankee Stadium but there is a Grace area that's a little bit beyond what you see that is typically uh going to be graded as a strike if you call it a strike Walker takes a sinker low one ball one strike Jordan hit his first home run of the Season he hit nine while at Memphis this season right-hander facing right-hander duar leads at first base Walker swings and fouls that out of play baral is a bit of a Sidewinder too he kind of crossfires a bit I mean he's got very deceptive kind of of delivery been a really good pitcher for them Jordan played 117 games with the Cardinals last year hitting 16 home runs driving in 51 tall right-handed batter from Georgia checks and takes way outside two balls two strikes the Cardinals had luck in working the pitch count up against Peralta getting him out of the game the last time out after five innings that was back on the 22nd of August at Bush Stadium moved to first n bar is back no tag applied by ree Hoskins durang the second baseman plays up the middle for Walker Walker's been hitting the ball more to right field on outside pitches so he has a wide open area on the right side of the infield they play to pull infield and Outfield the 2-2 pitch he takes a little bit High the Brewers were walking off the field they thought Peralta had strike three now on three and two Newar will be running that was just off the outside corner on three and two for Jordan Walker Hoskins plays behind Newar who takes off at first and the pitch is swung on and foul out of play down the right field line Hoskins watches that go over the screen Jordan with the five hit game yesterday the youngest Cardinal with a five hit game since 1916 Rogers Hornsby did it and just a little bit younger than Jordan Walker and U I know that that's going to be a confidence builder for him going forward I wonder if Hornsby said a five hit game that's just sick like Walker did maybe on three and two Newar goes Walker swings and Strikes Out on a pitch away we go to the bottom of the second three nothing Brewers hey Baseball fans do you love Dairy but lactose doesn't love you hi I'm Bethany a Missouri Dairy Farmer and Louis Cardinals the cards on Kingo x.com RH Ys re Hoskins leads off and takes a strike over at the knees 3 nothing Milwaukee walks to chrio and Bowers then a home run by Willie Adamas in the first inning the Cardinals have had one base runner on a walk against Peralta a swing and a miss o and two wonder if a hitters in this game both sides will be a little bit more uh likely to take pitches early in the count because the the zone is so small we may see more taking going on which may result in more pitches for both starters the two- strike pitch is swung on and missed and Hoskins is out with this strike zone why would you go up there swinging yeah that was like in the American League in the 80s the strike zone was the size of a postage stamp and I wondered why anybody would ever go up there and swing forcing the pitcher to throw it right down the middle and they had some very long drawn out games as a result here's a pitch Up and Away to South freelake freelink is playing right field the Shadows have made it halfway between home plate and the mound the pitch that's a strike call learning in person or online at mville University they let you decide it's your education your choice create a personalized learning experience at mville.edu the 1- one pitch coming up up from Palante to Frey and that's in the dirt two and one there was talk back in the uh in those days John that there was a different Strike Zone and I and I think I experienced that a little bit between the American League and the national league I thought in the National League you got a lower strike more kind of Sinker ball guys and just felt like it was a different kind of game there's a broken back ground ball hit slowly toward the second basem Donovan unloads and just out at first but the first base coach that's Quinton Barry points to the duck out to look at that one they may want to challenge that one freck runs very well freck thought he was safe he's not moving and we'll see what the Brewers say and we are going to have a challenge on that the call at first is out made by Lance [Music] Barrett thewa is challenging the alcohol at first base We Have Eyes on this official umpire review brought to you by Clarks and I be seen at Clarkson iare yeah he's safe getting a uh look at it Donnie did everything he could to get the ball there but I think that's going to be overturned and it'll be an infield hit for freeli one of those guys that runs well and the Brewers fans just now seeing what I just saw and they are in agreement with me the ball got to the glove right when the foot hit the bag so Tai goes to the runner it's supposed to anyway the call on the field is out Joey Ortiz he's waiting on the grass between the on Deck Circle and Home Plate while Palante takes a warm-up or two while we go through this review well not as clear as I saw it the first time but I think he's still going to be safe I mean I wouldn't be stunned if they 4-3 is the call on the field out at first right it's still think it'll be overturned though well this is taking a while and we're going to get the verdict here from Alonso Marquez stand the run is out and Milwaukee will move your well that makes them happy here in Milwaukee and Felix's not Felix's not moving I don't believe it I'm staying here Lance Barrett says uh yeah I I feel your pain I made the call you're out so Milwaukee loses its challenge in the second inning see if that comes back to get Milwaukee well you know the coming Innings there's that old thought about the ball being within the glove John not necessarily in the back of the glove and it's so hard to tell what that really means here's Ortiz he swings lifts a flyball foul going off to the right and a souvenir for this big crowd here in Milwaukee when replay first started that's what we were told if the ball gets inside kind of the uh the edges of the glove not necessarily in the back of the glove it's considered a catch now I I think they backed away from that but I think that's what they were calling there here's the pitch inside well I I thought it had to be in the back of the glove at first it does now it does now it definitely does that's what it's supposed to be anyway the call on the field was out and after a review it's an out the pitch up and in a ball two and one on the ninth Play Sitting Joy Ortiz formerly with the Baltimore Orioles he got into 15 games with them last year and hit 206 with four RB Baltimore won the division last year the 2-1 there's a swing and a Fly ball that's hit well to left field nbar moving back with room he makes the catch Ricky will have the third 3 nothing Milwaukee they say consistency is the key to success they weren't wrong [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] he see they need some runs the Red Birds do as they Trail three nothing we are only in the top of the third inning and it's a first pitch strike to a PES on the Corner down and away and we're underway here PES hitting 241 has three homers and 18 RBI facing Freddy Peralta here today the Shadows still a factor the pitch to P is a strike 0 and two Shadows are about uh touching the mound right now they've been working their way from home plate and before too long they will cover the infield here but right now it's about half and half with the infield being in the sun and in the shade the 02 delivery to PES is hit hard to left center field that ball is carrying that is back and it's gone off the back wall over the wall PES delivers home run number four and the Cardinals get on the board that was an 02 pitch and he hammered It Well Done Pedro PES 31 Milwaukee so PES gets the Cardinals on the board with their first hit the Brewers have one hit also and that was a home run by the birthday boy will Adamas a three-run home run following a couple of walks back in that first inning by Palante Michael canani bats nice to have him back and he takes a pitch high for a ball the fourth of August was the first day that he was not available he went to the ilil with an oblique strain and he has missed 26 games which is not many frankly with that kind of injury and he swings and misses at that delivery and it's one and one now on canani see if he can get on base keep something going here with Mason wi batting [Music] next open stance at the plate for siani and the one-1 pitch is swung on a missed and he missed that one by a foot and a half that ball had nasty sink to it and that's vintage Freddy Peralta who stands 6 feet tall he weighs 22 lb and he is 28 years old making start number 28 one-w delivery is highing in two and two he's going to go back away I think with that I think he will Sinker I would seani was off to a slow start offensively this year and then he just hot fire got a two2 count here and the pitch to canani is hit right to the first baseman Hoskins and they threw him a pitch inside I'm stunned they did that they threw him a slider down and in he hit the ball hard he lines out to a leaping ree Hoskins I like the contact though oh yeah 100% McDonald's ticket Fest has been extended through September fans can still purchase tickets starting only at $6 to Great Guardians for three two out nobody on and strike one to Alec burles on the outside corner a sweeper catches that outer half Burley popped out the third his first time just two for2 against Freddy perala I would think he'd be a guy that well I just think Burley can hit anybody there's a pitch low and he did not swing on the appeal I mentioned Burley nbar and Donovan 5 for 40 combined against Peralta three left-handed batters who you expect to do some damage against a righty but not this righty one-1 pitch is grounded foul he's got Burley off balance a little bit Yeah burley's reaching he has an eight game hitting streak anytime you see a lot of that kind of movement with a lower half or you see the upper half and the lower half not in sync the pitcher is trying to get you to do that by the way changes speeds and location the onew pitch is a swing and a miss and there's another very very off-balance swing for burles which again is unusual the PES home run the leadoff home run here side first pitch to him as the breaking ball strike one terang lined out to the the Cardinal shortstop Mason wi who's playing just about the same spot he was last time as terang hit the ball right on the money but could not find a hole one strike delivery from Andre Palante is in at the KN strike two well thrown at 95 milph and terang down 0 and two ask for time and it's 156 central time there you go now he knows back in the box now that he knows the time Palante into the windup the 02 pitch is in the dirt he overcooked that curveball that's typically a waist pitch just to show it that for Palante there are times where he uses it effectively gets some swings and misses but more often than that he's just trying to get uh get you to look at something different shadows covering most of the mound now as Palante works with Pedro PES the onew pitch is grounded foul off the front leg of terang and we'll do it again need a new baseball bante has to get rid of the old one who is he's the one closest to the ball as it's just in front of him just in front of the mound and they'll give him time to get back to the mound before they restart the clock and here we go actually they didn't they should have he's going to clean up the M then he should get some more time next delivery is grounded to the right side that's handled by the sure-handed Donovan former Gold Glove winner as a utility player he's having a good season defensively again not making a lot of mistakes and durang is out 43 visit Ted Drews on chipa for Ted's delicious Frozen Custard and then visit their gift shop where curveball is a little bit high for a ball 77 M hour to Jackson chrio Cho walked and scored but should have been out say the same thing about Jake Bowers who walked and scored and should have been out there's a pitch low two and0 to chrio who's being very patient here against Andre Palante seani has him played in right towards Right Center he's giving him left Center the 20- pitch is high and don't walk this guy again 3 and0 the count 3 to one Brewers lot of baseball ahead here on game number 138 as you know John I say all the time never lose game 138 old baseball saying three-oh pitch to chrio is low and he walked him on four pitches not many of them very close either so not like the last time nope not like the last time before William contr bats for the second time let's pause for station ID on the Cardinals radio network powered by grey bar skip the drive-through line your favorite coffee house flavors are ready anytime with Prairie Farm's new Barista style single served ice coffees now at your local retailer visit prair farms.com KX k e kd2 k254 CR St Louis Allstar catcher William contras Brother of Wilson contras takes a pitch a little bit low ball one not missing by much just below the bottom of the zone and Palante had good sink on that Contreras just didn't swing at it if he had he might have hit it on the ground into a double play that's what the Cardinals are hoping for with wi and Donovan up the middle jurio a threat to run not going the 10 pitch is outside that just missed Palante hasn't been missing by much in some of his pitches now he did to chrio but he's been around the plate and yet has walked three batters already Cheo may want to go here 2 and 0 not going two- pitch is low ball three well then you start thinking about it John that's the worst part that is the worst part of it I can't walk this guy and that's usually happens or the pitcher will Groove one and really get burned I wonder if that's what happened to a in the first inning 3oh pitch contarus might be swinging here 3 pitch and it's inside we'll never know he walked it ask him for trouble backto back walks there were two walks in the first inning and then Jake Bowers the second one man at the plate was one of the two Brewers that scored in front of Willie Adamas who's now in the on Deck Circle well you can't pin these walks on the home plate umpire Ono Marquez no you can't Dusty Blake making the slow walk out to the mound to chat it up with Andre Palante boy he really needs the double play here and the left-handed batter that's kind of the uh wheelhouse of Palante Bowers has yet to hit into one this year well let's start now he's a flyball hitter and he also runs well that may be part of it 10 stolen bases in that limited playing so uh he runs like everybody else on this team long conversation on the mound and now it's broken up and a mound visit charged by the home plate umpire Alonso Marquez he is the crew chief Lance Barrett at first Jeremy rigs at second Mark rerer will be the man at Third Base today and here we are ready to go Runners at first first and second only one out Jake Bowers is the DH at the plate he hits from the left side Palante better against lefties than right-handers holds and delivers home and it's low ball one he's trying to keep the ball down to get the double play ball but he is fighting to fight to find the strike zone here after walking two already tied his career high with four walks in this game the one0 pitch is a called strike just barely at the bottom of the Zone alante has good sinking action the ball just kind of uh even on his cutter the ball sinks down at the last second gets a lot of ground balls has a really high ground ball rate needs one here and there's strike two also in at the knees and again the patience of the Brewer they're just not swinging the bat are they and they're getting walks walks and then damage that's not a bad formula Palante ready for the one2 pitch Runners not going the one-w pitch is grounded but foul as the first base coach that's Quenton Barry Jason Lane is the third base coach for Milwaukee the Brewers have walked 515 times as a team coming into play the most by far of any team in the National League what does that tell you they're good at it they've got a good patience the one-w pitches hit foul off to the left and out of play the Cardinals just to give that number some meaning again the uh Brewers have 5115 the Cardinals have 398 and they're about Midway no other team has over 500 well that's not true the Dodgers have 500 right at curveball is fouled straight back that was a bit of a hanger by pante may have gotten away with that Miami Marlins never walk or seldom walk they are the team with the Fest at 329 another one-w pitch coming up and another swing and a foul back and that was a good cut at a one-w pitch maybe had too much of the plate and it was up pitch count now at 57 for Andre Palante be ready defense be ready infielders the one-w pitch is grounded but foul again down the first Baseline so a tough at backat here for [Music] Bowers that was Pitch number eight in the ATB 58 total pitches for balante that's a high count working here in the third the high set and the pitch and it swung on and missed got him to chase a breaking pitch in the dirt that was a wild swing by Bowers well here we go again with Willie Damas at the plate with two men on who both walked what did he do two innings ago he had a three-run homer to celebrate his birthday today that's enough celebrating as far as I'm concerned Adamas with 99 RB on the year now third in the League pitch up and in ball one almost walked into that fans didn't like it they thought it might have been well Adamas loves to dive out over the plate two Runners on a one count on the Brewer short stop and the pitch has swung on and Miss got him with a slider and he chased a pitch that was never a strike a little over anxious there you're always a little over anxious on your birthday aren't you want to do something special why because it's your day that should make it easier I guess was easy last at bat see if Palante can get him here the 1-1 pitch is fouled off the catcher Palante and both Runners took off they don't know what's going on they're still running and they're waiting for a call we still don't have one from our home plate umpire home plate umpire raised both arms and then put him down quickly calling it a foul ball but pus took quite a shot on the half swing by Adamas redirecting that pitch off the Cardinal catcher Pedro pis looks like he got hit in the side of the face again on that pitch it went off the bat and then off the side of the Mask I mean he got hit I guess I would say he got hit in the neck I think that's the best way to describe where he got hit last time we saw him catching and I I felt like that affected his throwing for a couple of uh couple of games he says he's okay Oly back to the Cardinals Dugout we're ready to go we've got a onew you count on adamus see if Palante can finish him off he has two strikeouts here today two Runners on bottom of the third and the pitch is in the dirt blocked by PES two and two I thought PES was going to take the new ball and throw the old one out to the m right why not the slight of hand but he threw the old one out and the new one to Palante I would guess that that's happened before wouldn't you say I would imagine got to get him here you don't want to go 3-2 two2 pitch with two Runners on to it Damas is grounded to short wi has it and he flips to Second and the runner contres Force there and Palante gets out of it against the dangerous adames we go to the fourth inning Cardinals trailing by two 3 to one here in Milwaukee greatness doesn't happen [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] he [Music] the little ones entertained while you enjoy world class Golf and stars we are the original the one the only the Palm Beaches plan your trip at the Palm beaches.com Kingo x.com is Cardinals radio Cardinals trailing here as we move to the top of the fourth inning by a score of 3 to one the difference in the game of three-run home run by Willie Adamas is 29th of the season was that you walking into the booth with a plate of hot dogs a while ago no that was not me Dollar hot dog day it is oh how about [Music] that I can go get you some no I thought they were all yours yeah no I know how much you like hot dogs yeah you know I I I used to they do not conform any longer John to my uh special diet first pitch to arnado is hit in the air to center field he got underneath it and the center fielder on the move and he's still on the move and he's almost all the way to the infield as he makes the play that's Mitchell that ball kind of had very little carry to it I thought that was going to be deeper in the Outfield and I think the Brewers did too gry bar by the way John is your electrical and Datacom distributor helping to power connect or maintain your operations yep Greybar does that so one out for the Cardinals trailing by two Donovan at the plate and he takes a cutter for a strike [Music] Donnie grounded out the first time up two first and that's ree Hoskins playing over there they've got terang on the right side of the infield and he can play swinging the foul off to the left terang has the most defensive run saved in all of baseball he's at 22 and that we I think it's a poorly named stat it's not defensive run save that's not really what it is as the pitch is in the dirt it's not a one to1 thing like if you actually make a play and it saves a run you don't get one for that it's it's a formula so it should be named something else but the point is it's still a very good way of judging how good a Defender is and Trang has the best in all of baseball not for second baseman of any position anywhere so he can uh play him second left side of the infield they have Ortiz and Adamas cherio Mitchell and freeli in the Outfield from left to right and they can get it in the Outfield too they've got good speed among their outfielders barala has a 2-2 count on Brendan Donovan and the next pitch is lined in the center for a base hit a five-game hitting streak now for Donnie and the Cardinals have the tying run coming to the plate and Paul gmid that is a nice sound to it you know the the key thing here is to just make a good run for this last month that's right just take September 1st and what the Cardinals did at Yankee Stadium and build off of that give them a finish John that's it see what happens you almost I mean clearly you have nothing to lose I mean you just got to stay true do your best and try to follow um the big guys in the middle of the lineup who are swinging better including Goldie who swings through the first delivery flyed out his first time but another three hit game for him yesterday Goldie is now hit in eight straight games 16 for his last 31 the pitch to Goldie is taken low a pitch he was swinging yes about knee high and then dropping out of sight he homered against Dylan ceas of San Diego on the 27th at home that's the last home run his 20th of the Year 28 career home runs against Milwaukee the 1-1 pitch is taken low and is again his ability to take pitches out of the zone you could just tell he's seeing the ball much much better he had a three home run game here a few years ago against Milwaukee wasn't that early in the season am I remembering that feel like I remember that series The 2-1 pitch is outside I'm sure he does he hit three home runs he's going to remember it call that a strike two balls two strikes and it was Donovan not a big lead at first base Cardinals not wanting to run here with one out down by two and that pitch is and maybe now see if the Cardinals want to start Donovan Goldie can hit into some double plays he's done it 16 times and he has struck out six times in the last eight plus games he's cut down on that he has Donovan Whispering with stubby clap he wants to make sure he got the sign right make wa sure he heard it right he's not going the next pitch is swung on and miss and Goldie strikes out a good thing Donnie wasn't going whatever they they whispered was the right thing so 2 O Donovan at first for Lars nbar the walked last time and he has a six-game hitting streak going ball definitely carries out of this ballpark really carries when the roof's open sure does as it is right now the pitch to Nar is outside ball one there's that Sinker of Peralta he has such a good finish to that pitch it just last second just dies down and Away to left-handed batters and he throws it hard too the one oh Pitch is hit hard to right field but that should carry to the right fielder no it's going to drop in front of him as he was trying to uh well de me I guess I think he thought he was going to catch that ball but the ball did not carry he just had kind of Top Spin to it had a quick SN to it didn't it yeah nbar gets a base hit and the Nar fans here at the Ballpark give the obligatory n yeah he did he had Top Spin on that like the US Open SO waiting back on it was freck the right fielder again they're very good defensive players and the inning's not over yet first and third for the Cardinals tying run now at first base as we play here in the fourth inning for Jordan Walker so the Cardinals did very well with runners in scoring position in New York how will they do here in Milwaukee has uh pitches low ball one to jwok 8 out of 18 yesterday with runners in scoring position leaving seven on scoring 14 runs on 21 hits and they hit 500 during the series against the Yankees with runners in scoring position Walker with five hits yesterday the one oh Pitch to him is swung on and missed he pulled off that one he did it was 93 top of the Zone Walker got his average all the way up to 195 with that 5 for five day but he struck out the first time here today and the next delivery is swung on and missed and that was the pitch that he sometimes chases that's down that was a change up that he did not pick up very well that's what struck him out the first time up hard not to go back to that again isn't it one and two the count two Runners on for Walker and the pitch is high for a ball and the catcher contras threatened to throw behind Nar at first but he scampered back now it's either the change up or the slider away we'll find out which one they've obviously communicated about it because barala is ready set at the belt and the two- two pitch is a slider away for a ball and in a run down is nbar and the Cardinals now have the runner hung up at third and he's trying to score and he's going to be out Donovan out at the plate the Cardinals tried the double steal to try to mess up the Brewers but a late jump off of third by Donovan so hard to read that anyway but the throw went down to second base and he eventually is out at the plate and the cardinal [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] you [Music] it's still looking for one of those double plays for the Cardinals there goes the runner and the pitch is low the throw to second base and it's a wide throw and he's safe the throw was offline by PES and he's H kicking the dirt behind home plate it was on the shortstop side of the bag and by the time Donovan coralled the ball and slapped the tag down he was safe at second the Cardinals actually looking at it but they say play on so Mitchell picks up his seven stolen base he's in scoring position for Hoskins and if you're going to catch a runner trying to steal the throw has to be right down there on the bag sure does bante checks the runner at second delivers there's a highfly ball to deep left field backing up his new bar and it's over his head and over the wall a two-run home run and the Brewers flexing their muscles again this time it's Hoskins his 23rd home run and it's 51 Milwaukee a that's only his third hit in the last 27 at bats and two of them have been home [Music] runs he knew it the minute he hit it that he got it just right he went down to get a slider not a bad location maybe not a sharp one from Palante as he throws a strike to freck who bounced out his first time on a play that was challenged by Milwaukee so Milwaukee only has three hits in this game but they have made them count next pitch is grounded foul just past the third base bag that was close to going over the B Milwaukee now with 153 home runs and the Cardinals have 143 home runs with the P's home run here this [Music] afternoon Cardinals trailing by four now in the fourth still nobody out Frick grounds that ball over the head of Palante you better hurry Mason win he does throwing a strike to Paul goldshmid boy does he get rid of the ball quickly throws out the Speedy freeli for oute number one well Palante had a chance to snag that ground ball hit past him also if he catches that ball instead of going under his glove now that's a what a could have should have conversation but you we all do it in baseball what if what if [Music] then things would be different of course the what if in the first inning is what if the strikes were called correctly on a couple of cardinal pitches from Palante we may have a different score here strike one delivered to Joey Ortiz who flyed out the left his first time he's played a very good third base in the games we've seen against the Brew Crew they've got a new player on their bench by the way whose first name is Brewer I think that's a little bit of there's a Fly ball to center field and that should drop fani can't quite get it good attempt to throw it second base and they got him trying to stretch it into second with the tag made by Donovan and he ends up falling on top of the runner Ortiz who went barreling into second base the dive by canani couldn't quite get it and Mason wi went all the way out there and picked up the ball for him and threw it in the second to get Ortiz at the bag lot of excitement a lot of effort on that play by everybody canani W Donovan and Ortiz and he is out at second and Donnie after making the tag boy his head went backwards and Donnie was just making sure he was okay that was a crazy play going to be a base hit and out at second fast ball misses up and in for a ball he's getting attended to Ortiz is on the Brewers bench next pitch is low for a ball that ball touched the an didn't it it should be should be 8 64 that's the way I see it there's a swing and a a ground ball hit past arado into left field for terang he's got a base hit now he's going to run Chan is very good that he's going to [Music] run the Cardinals are going to have to get somebody ready in the bull pin pitch counts getting up there for bante still have two games to go in this series and you'd like to see Palante go a little deeper into this one one thing we have not mentioned yet is it's Steven matz is going to start game two tomorrow that was announced this morning Steven matz 1-2 against Aaron Sali 4-8 moved to first base he's back safely as Palante has really worked on uh holding Runners at first base durang's going to go I'll bet you not yet so we going to foul down the right field line and that is twisting out of play and almost home run distance off the bat of Jackson chrio who's very talented he's walked twice in this game he's batting with two [Music] outs 51 Milwaukee Brewers they've out hit the Cardinals 5 to3 and they've out homered them 2 to1 and the homers are the difference in this [Music] game bante working to the 20-year-old chrio as a one strike count next delivery is Bounce foul so he's got him 0 and two and when you have him 0 and two you have to finish them [Music] off well you don't have to but you want to Cho bats from the right side he's up in the Box the 02 pitch is a pitch out outside for a ball don't see too many of those that's interesting well now I bet they go always a good time to go after The Pitch Out Tony larusi used to pitch out twice yes he did not going the next pitch is outside but not on purpose two and two so when you throw a pitch Out The Pitch Out should be about what chest High or so to a catcher who's standing up and jumping out of his Crouch to catch the ball so you get him in one smooth motion to throw down to second 22 pitch not going again is a fouled at the plate again two and two pitch count is way up there now it's 84 for Palante and at some point you're right the Cardinals are going to have to get somebody up out in their Bullpen they have three lefties out there and five right-handers and I'm not counting Steven Mass because he's now going to start tomorrow added to the Cardinal roster for the month of September moved to first base and they're going to call the B on Andre Palante the first base coach was calling for that on the last time he threw over there Quenton Barry and it looks like oi maro's going to want a explanation of that from the first base up Lance Barrett wanting to know exactly what Andre Palante did and Ali may be saying wait the first base coach doesn't get to call that does he you sure you called it that's what I would be saying politely of course you say it politely he's actually pointing over at Quenton Barry right now all he is so I'm sure that's what he's saying very self- congratulating himself by clapping over there I saw that he was in the ear of the first base ire on the other throw over there so clearly they picked something up not sure what he did but whatever he did he did it two balls two strikes runner at second base after the B and that pitch is low for a ball and Cho where's he going Cho um is so used to walking he was making his way to a first base on a 2-2 pitch so they tell him he has to keep playing faces up to the pitcher just in time after doing that and a 3-2 pitch from Palante is outside now he can go and chrio has walked three times in this game runner at first and second for William conteras before he bats let's pause for station ID catching with Williams brother Wilson out with a broken finger two balls two strikes on Pedro pis the pitch a swing and there's a foul ball that's going to be a souvenir way down the left field line got to say the Cardinals have been pretty lucky with the production that they've gotten out of both Herrera and PES Herrera more on the offensive side PES a little more offensively including his home run here in the third the two- two pitch Pedro fouls a fast ball back to the screen with Peralta raring back trying to strike out Pas with the high hard one you lose your catcher two different times for as many games as they've lost Wilson Contreras that's a lot of uh learning and relearning you've got to do and a lot of teaching you have to do with young catchers here's Pedro with the pitch hand here one and two and that's right where he is and and he he wasn't there for a while we thought he was worth it when he was hitting 200 but then when he got up to 250 absolutely needs to be out there every day canani 0 for one the one-w pitch n way sending another one fouled down the left field line off the end of the bat that bounces off the Sidetrack the play that Mason wi made on the ball that canani didn't catch in Shallow center field I didn't think that canani had a chance to get to that baseball not even a chance but he got very close to it almost caught it then the ball bounced to Wi who threw into Donovan to get the out of second now on one and two the pitch a swing and a slowly hit ground ball it goes to Hoskins flipping to First just in time Giani is up 3-1 Peralta didn't joint.com the one-w pitch is swung on and fouled just nicked it running down to second base ree hos Hoskins he's going to have to go back that's a foul ball he doesn't believe the second base umpire well you know one thing I it frustrates the Daylights out of me that an Umpire Marquez said nothing about that being a foul ball I mean there was no indication so you might as well go cuz you don't know what if it's if it's a swing and a miss and you don't go you're in trouble feels like the Umpire needs to be louder and clearer about it ball being fouled now on one and two Riley O'Brien with a runner at first the pitch a swing and a foul ball back do you have an attendance guess I do not well I have one oh do you 41 1,731 well we'll go with yours today I feel like that's pretty pretty close you're taking a day off on the holiday yeah well Brian would love a ground ball here from Frey K directly to one of the fielders and here is a ball that's hit down the right field line and that's going to go toward the corner on to third Hoskins and he's going to hold there on a double by S Frey boy he just got enough of the bat on that got jammed but hit it over the first baseman gold Schmid's head kept it fair by and it just hugged the line until it got over there by the sidewall and by the time Walker chased it down Hoskins was standing on third base and freake picks up his 18th double of the Year being so good in spring training Riley O'Brien was injured his first outing of the Season at Dodgers Stadium and just recently returned now the Cardinals have to play the infield in Ortiz takes a sinker low for ball one we're in the sixth inning second and third nobody out 5 to3 Milwaukee the runner at third is Hoskins now the pitch by O'Brien a sway and that foul ball goes to our right we saw a lot of strikeouts didn't we from O'Brien early on and a lot of weak weekly hit balls because of his ability to both throw both the Sinker and the slider the pitches were going in both directions crazy and he was tunneling very well with that the one-1 pitch in the dirt two balls in a strike the whole idea of tunneling is that when pitches come out of the same spot and one goes left and one goes right or one goes up and one goes down that makes it very tough for the hitter because you see the same pitch 3/4 of the way to the plate before it starts to move and unless you got the spin figured out you're done two balls in a strike second and third the pitch a little bit low a three and one count Hoskins got on with a walk and then Frei hit the ball down the right field line for a double as 18th of the [Music] year the 3-1 pitch outside ball four three batters three base runners nobody out no one throwing in the Cardinal Bullpen here's a mound visit by Dusty Blake fedro PES Paul goldi comes over from first Donovan in from second base arado is on his way over to get in on the ACT it's Hoskins at third freelink at second Ortiz at first and the Brewers are set up for a big big inning and when they strike they can strike fast so Riley Brian's just got to take a deep breath here and kind of uh relax and start over again just a bad start for him here he's getting a good good opportunity here in September for the Cardinals one that he actually earned as we mentioned in March uh but uh but going into the season off a good spring training you look at his brief time in the majors he's untested at the major league level no doubt well he's tested today and so far he's on the hot seat well one thing we've really learned especially over the last couple years and not learned for the first first time but been reinforced with is the difference between the minor leagues and the big leagues the minor leagues a great training ground you see a lot of flashes of Brilliance you just don't see the same kind of consistency the pitch on the way a swing and a foul big swing there by Bryce durang who has a hit and three at bats oskins got on with the walk freck doubled Ortiz a walk that is seven walks by Cardinal pitching today the one strike pitch that swung on and lined and Paul goid makes the catch at first base couldn't double anybody off but he took two runs bed inway from Bryce durang wow nice play very nice play now a double play and you're out of it but a star on that one for Paul goldi and he was playing pretty shallow too because he wanted to be able to make a play at the plate if the ball was hit to him so he was inish yeah but fortunately had enough hops there to make that play here is Jackson Cho he has been on with three walks in a quarter run the bases are loaded he takes a little bit low ball one it is stunning how many bad calls the Cardinals have gotten on pitches down in the zone that was a strike and with the bases loaded the guy struggling you can't afford to lose that kind of pitch the 1 pitch Cho takes a strike called this time well you don't get those low calls a pitcher has to put it on a t for a better yeah exactly that's what happened in the first inning that's what happened when adamus h a home run after walks to chrio and Bowers now with the bases loaded the 1-1 pitch a swing and that ball is hit high and deep the left field and gone a grand slam for Jackson chrio and it's 93 Brewers [Music] the Brewers have powered their way to this lead today a three-run homer a two-run homer and now a slam in the sixth inning we talked about the Brewers striking quickly and a pitch goes all the way to the screen William conteras a 10 count 18 home runs for chrio the pitch by O'Brien taken low for a ball 9 to three Milwaukee the pitch on the outside corner a strike to conteras one out in O'Brien that's a strike call Home Run Derby today the Cardinals have two the Brewers have three but they had men on the pitch outside a three-run homer two-run Homer and a slam the Cardinals have been out hit 76 and Trail by six the pitch outside that's a walk the third given up by O'Brien Jake Bowers is coming up openen is a little bit thin today for the Cardinals they had to use a couple of guys yesterday I know they'd like to stay away from kitridge for one today and certainly with the score as it is Ryan Fernandez pitched yesterday here's a swing and a foul ball by Jake Bowers the seventh man to bat in the inning for Milwaukee like to stay away from John King today certainly you're not going to use Hesley so I guess Kyle Ley would be the guy Bowers the batter the former Yanke a left-handed hitter takes a pitch low check swing and a ball high and outside two and one can we do like we did in spring training a few years ago and just end the inning end the inning and yeah send them B out back out next inning a leaded first for contras the pitch outside ball three three and one seems so uncomfortable now doesn't he on the mound he does not really have the command of his fast ball and you just don't know how far you can go with him the pitch on the way a strike called three and two Bowers took a step like he was going to walk you'll see at least one more pitch bers has yet to hit into a double play this year and he uses a batter's timeout here before the 3-2 pitch nine runs seven hits no airs four left on from Milwaukee three runs six hits no airs four left on for the Cardinals the eight walks today aren't all the Fault by even close to the home pled umpire no they're not the pitch a swing and a miss Bowers strikes out two two down and Willie ad Damas is coming up he celebrated his 29th birthday by hitting his 29th home run of the year and we are going to have a exceptional living kingom x.com is Cardinals radio 27-year-old Kyle Ley who play his college ball in Colorado Mesa is on the pitch facing Adamas the eighth batter of the Milwaukee 6th inning and the Brewers have put up a big number four here in the sixth the swing and a miss with adamus trying to hit his second home run on his 29th birthday he hit a three-run homer in the first inning 9 to3 Milwaukee three in the 1 two in the fourth four so far in the sixth contas is the runner at first for the Brewers the pitch a swing and a foul out of play I would think that the Cardinals would want to use Ley for the rest of this game and not have to use another relever and that means he's got to throw two plus Innings last time he saw him was the 26th of August he pitched the scoreless inning against the Padres the two- strike pitch in the dirt and blocked by PES so the last um what two weeks he hasn't ped a whole lot pitched four or five times in two weeks and he's had some very good numbers the overall ER is good for lehe and I just think he keeps getting better and better done a nice job he managed to get ahead of adamus here the pitch a swing and adamus that's one that's foul boy adamus is something doesn't get cheated NOP one and two ad Damas with a home run a force and a Fly ball out Ley looks to first base the one-w pitch a swing and a miss and Ley strikes him out but poor runs on one swing by Jackson Chio his 18th home runs a grand slam Ricky has the seventh with Milwaukee leading 93 a swing and there's a [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] homered twice in this game he has been a big part of the Cardinals offense they've scored three runs unfortunately the Brewers have nine and it's strike one delivered by Brian Hudson again he went to alt high school was drafted originally by the Cubs big tall left-hander came on to finish off the sixth inning in relief of Freddy Pera who was on the upside of this game swinging a foul back by PES and he's got two strikes on him Andre Palante on the downside he went five innings gave up five runs Riley O'Brien twoth thirds of an inning and he was touched up with two hits three walks and four runs allowed to slam by chrio so three crooked numbers on the board for Milwaukee three in the first two in the fourth and four in the sixth all scoring on home runs the O2 pitch to pes's fouled back he's had both of his home runs in this game with two strikes so there's something positive we have Sunshine working its way toward the first Baseline coming through the windows high above the field here on the right field side Hudson has his sign and the pitch to the Cardinal catcher PES is swung on and missed got him with a slider that's how the top of the seventh starts for one night only Billy Joel and sting take the stage at Bush Stadium that's right at Bush Stadium Friday September 27th is the day get your tickets while you can go to cardinals.com concerts Michael canani bats from the left side against the left-hander C's 0 for two and he pops this one foul off to our left and out of play is lined out to First and grounded out to First seani hitting at 254 had a few rehab assignments this week to get ready for his life back here in the big leagues there's a slider and that catches the outside corner 0 and two eight walks delivered by the Cardinal pitchers today Kyle Ley got his one man Adamas to end the sixth he's in now for St Louis but damage against both Palante and O'Brien next pitch is outside with the ball and that is the slider of Hudson so the Brewers have only out hit the Cardinal 7 to6 but they have outp powerered them big time 93 Brewers as we play in the seventh it's the first of three and the Cardinals are either going to have to come back in this one or win the next two days to win this series Jack Swing on a slider two and two very very comfortable afternoon in Milwaukee the score is not so comfortable home runs by adamus Hoskins and chrio next delivery is outside three and two well all you can do is give him a finish you'd say that about the season and you're saying that about today or I am at least give him a finish canani at the plate with Mason wind to bat next canani over for his last six now but that's spanning a not a long period of time because he was on the injured list for quite some time payoff pitch is taken outside ball four and that could have been strike three what a small Strike Zone today I do not think fans like walks just don't think they do do pitchers don't like him pitching coaches don't like him managers don't like who likes walks nobody but that's what we just had and the Cardinals of course are happy to have a base runner in canani who does run well and Mason win at the plate Outfield not very deep in Center I'm surprised Mitchell's very shallow and the pitch is inside ball one almost seems like walks be get more walks too pitcher starts to get a little nervous about the strike zone that's that's the big question and here comes the hook and the hook being Chris hook pitching coach for Milwaukee tell he's got a good staff this year and you say you give him credit or the pitcher credit it's always the players in my mind the players do it or they don't but his uh Brewer staff which of course he's guiding and leading they have a 363 Collective ra that's the second best in the National League so they can uh they can pitch as a whole they've got a lot of good pieces good Bullpen dein Williams of course is their closer back off the injur list they did a good job of maneuvering their Bullpen when he was out they did he was out a long time they sure did the Atlanta Braves the only team with a better earn run average in the National a that surprises me as well the Braves that's how they're hanging in there with that wild card the pit to win is outside so bris hook didn't tell him the right thing apparently as he threw another pitch off the plate two and0 that's not really how it works SE the runner at first win at the plate a 20-0 count Hudson delivers and that's in the dirt that one not even close three and0 wouldn't you like to have a remote control for the baseball like you do a drone and you can maneuver that from The Dugout well isn't that what video games are but I'm talking about real life here with baseball that well there's a lot of people think video games are real life 3oh pitch is a strike that loop-de-loop well that's what the good pitchers do with the movement on their breaking pitches split finger pitches fast balls well don't give any ideas John we might go to that drone controlled baseballs the 3-1 pitch has popped up left side as wind was reaching for that Adamas backpedals a couple of steps and makes the play he was in the shadows in Shallow left field and that's out number two now Sunshine is just about to U Spotlight home plate from the windows high above the stands here on the first base side how about a spotlight for Alec Burleson the Cardinal batter who was 0 for three today he's popped out struck out and he's also fly out first pitch to Burley is grounded foul again an off-balance swing for Burley he is just not comfortable at the plate today well the five run seventh inning just took the wind out of the Yankees yesterday and I get that feeling that the Slam by Chio has done the same to the Cardinals today I'm sure it has they're only human one strike pitch is outside one and one not that they're going to give up but that's a six-run mountain time here two outs in the seventh hard to play the game when you're frustrated and when you give up a slam trying to get back in the ball game that's frustrating the line out with the first out of the inning made it seem like the Cardinals could get out of it swinging a foul but the line out by terang and the Brewers hadn't scored yet was followed by the Slam by Cho double play would have been better but the slam is what happened one and two the count on the Cardinal DH Alec burles and that's low but Riley O'Brien getting an opportunity here at the big league level he hasn't done much with it yet not yet boy you look good in spring training he actually had good numbers in Triple A after he was reinstated but again big leagues is a whirlwind of a different story it really is two ball two strike pitches fouled off to the left again I mean you're talking about the best of the best well the best of the best get to play professional baseball and then the best of those advance to the big league so it's a it's a separator for those that get to play Major League Baseball and you can't expect to be able to make mistakes and get away with it at this level check swing and he didn't go slider away so 3-2 count that means canani will be off with the pitch Burleson looking to extend his hitting streak he has hit in eight straight games batting 282 for the Cardinals coming into play today looking for that first hit and he's got a 3-2 pitch coming out and there goes canani the 3-2 pitch is inside ball four two walks in an inning with a 93 lead with a 93 lead that will uh make a manager boy a little bit and while he's boiling let's pause for station ID and before ronado bats let's pause on the Cardinals radio network powered by gry bar skip the drive-through line your favorite coffee house flavors are ready anytime with Prairie Farm's new Barista style single served ice coffees now at your local retailer visit Prairie farms.com KX k k HD2 k254 CR St Louis our anado 0 for three in the game takes a pitch low for a ball how about a big fly here if the Brewers can do it why not the Cardinals big fly make it 96 then a base hit a base hit a homer by Walker and now we're tied and well what else do we want well I like the first approach the home run here by arado one pitch is hit sharply but foul and that was an ronado line drive again outside of the third base bag down the left field line they're going to have to run that one down before we can uh begin play again he has 23 career home runs against Milwaukee Goldie has 28 of them almost had another one in the sixth 1-1 pitch to arado is swung on and missed the goldie double by the way they hit off the base of the wall if that would have gone out of here Goldie would have uh tied Joe dagio on the all-time home run list that's going to happen at some point and we'll see what arado does with this delivery he's down in the count one and two and the pitch is fouled off a protective swing on a pitch from Hudson 90 M an hour on the Sinker Hudson doesn't throw particularly hard that's might even been his for seamer but he's tricky he's got a good slider and he's got a one-w count and the pitch is high for a ball that one not close to the zone and a 2-2 count that pitch also at 90 mph two walks in the inning canani and Burleson a two2 count on ronado at the plate and the pitch is grounded foul got a very good wrinkle we got a lot of words for breaking pitches I like to call them wrinkles there a little bit of little bit of swerve to it the 2-2 delivery is a called strike three at the bottom of the Zone arado strikes out it's time to stretch here in Milwaukee and I know what they're going to do they're going to roll out the bar the barrel here the seventh inning stretch presented by SeatGeek the official ticket Marketplace of the at the Milwaukee Brewers one of the front office guys in public relations did that he did a great job and of course we had the Take Me Out to the Ball Game and then we just rolled out the barrel so we're getting it all done here the seventh inning stretch this old production was presented by SeatGeek the official ticket Market Place of the St Louis Cardinals will be the first full inning of work Mitchell Hoskins and Frick in a game brought to you by Budweiser official beer sponsor of Major League Baseball crack open the game with Budweiser and enjoy unrivaled flavor and refreshment Mitchell has grounded out singled and grounded out today Ley working with Pedro PES who has hit two home runs for the Cardinals first pitch is grounded to First and Goldie has it he's going to take it himself one pitch one out and a good start for Ley here in the seventh inning he has been really helpful for the Cardinals out of the bullpen for the uh red birds Cardinals will have Steven mats tomorrow one and two up against Aron savali who's 4 and8 our pregame show tomorrow begins at 5:45 so a normal evening start time here during the week at of course holiday Day game today our play byplay tomorrow will be at 6:30 and we'll be very happy if you join us tomorrow in the Cardinals radio network powered by Greybar there's strike one to Hoskins Who has struck out homered and walked Hoskins with 23 big flies he's been a good acquisition it's a little bit all or nothing for them and he was nothing on that as he swings through a slider I shouldn't call him nothing but the average is low and the production is high so that's what I meant by that but a very good piece for the Brewers and a good pickup in de sat out all last year with an injury and the Phillies just tried to decided not to invest further in him the slider low and away which is always frustrating when you're the player you get hurt you're expecting one thing and then your team moves on from you and well it's going to happen to everybody in this game at some point maybe more than once one two pitches low two and two [Music] 93 Brewers we're in the top of the seventh inning there's one out Mitchell ground out to first now it's Hoskins Who swings and misses and Strikes Out second strike out for Ley who looks good today and unlike the pitchers in front of him he's attacking the strike zone too Palante had five walks in five innings Riley O'Brien three walks in 2/3 of an inning so South felic will bat with two outs nobody on [Music] first pitch from Le he is outside for a ball and could have been called a strike but I won't play that tune again freck batting Ortiz on Deck next pitch is a called strike that one wasn't a strike and called a strike so the counts right Scott canani and Walker in the Outfield from left to right as Victor Scott took over for the original leftfielder Nar who was Pitch hit for swinging a Miss as he swung through a pitch at the top of the zone that had some hop to it from lehey trying to pick up another strike out he struck out two of the first three batters that he's faced and he's one and two on freck who was one for two in this game the pitch to him is swung on and missed he struck Him Out Boy Le he really looks good we go to the eighth John will have it for you Cardinals need a ton of runs as they Trail 9 to3 when you buy eight or more gallons with the fuel by Brown k and a great Law Firm Ross is a new pitcher he's a right-hander for the Brewers replacing Brian Hudson Joe Ross will pitch to Brendan Donovan Paul goldshmid and Victor Scott II there's a pitch right there for a strike you know that disclaimer always works better when you turn your microphone on John i' learned that it helps yeah interesting Discovery the Brewers are in the driver's seat right now 9 to3 in a pitch inside one and one on Donovan Donovan has hit safely his last five games with eight hits in the last 20th bats two out of three today with a run scored Ross is the third pitcher of the day from Milwaukee and the right-hander deals just inside that looked like a strike the pace of play is pitchers attacking the strike zone umpires calling pitches in the strike zone strikes and batter staying in the batter box yep it's that simple the 2-1 down and in ball three the Brewers have walked four while the Cardinals have walked eight Le he looks good today he struck out three sure does the pitch by Ross fast ball that hums in there three and two on Donovan Donovan doing what he can to try to get on here is the Cardinals need base runner after base runner down by six only six outs to work with and here's Ross with the pitch Donovan fouls that one off to the left and that goes off the screen go SMI has extended his heading streak to nine with a double he moved Donovan over to Third Base where pinit lukan Baker drove in Donan with a sacrifice fly that made it a two-run game but cherio hit a slam in the bottom of the six for the 9-3 Advantage the Brewers own now check swing and a ball down and in a lead off walk donov is on for the third time he's had a good day very good day now Paul goldi keep the line moving goldi a fly out strike out and a double off the base of the wall in right center field the 26th double of the year to go along with 20 homers 55 RB Ross checks on first base and that's where Hoskins is holding against Donovan the pitch outside and low a slider from tall right-hander Joe Ross Ross formerly with the Washington Nationals he's 31 years old a look to First and the pitch outside ball two from Washington to Milwaukee 2015 to 2021 with the Nationals his 18th game he started 10 a two and six record and a 405 ER for the Milwaukee Brewers the 20 pitch for Goldie he checks his swing and a strike is called Ross working away from the Cardinal first baseman trying to work back in the count two and one maybe a go pitch here for GOI playing off the line in right field South Frey the pitch cols gets out of the way of a fast ball up and in well there's been a lot of what I would call defensive seeming pitching today Cardinals have had well two guys do that Riley O'Brien and Andre Palante looked like they were working backwards a lot always kind of behind in the count not attacking the Zone the 3-1 pitch here for goldi he swings and sends a highfly ball down the left field Line cherio running over into foul territory and the ball goes out of play three and two on goldi cherio tracked then along with Ortiz and Willie [Music] Adamas B GOI with a 3-2 count now back to first base St clap talking with his base runner there Brendon Donovan and with ree Hoskins the first base first baseman for Milwaukee holding against the runner the Brewers about hit the Cardinal 76 and Lead 93 nobody out in the eighth with a man on the 3-2 pitch here for Goldie a swing and a miss a pitch down and Away strikes him out one down and Victor Scott thei comes up for the first time lukan Baker batted for L's Newar hit a sacrific fly in the sixth inning then Scott took over in left field far as Luke and Baker's RBI John five straight games that he's played in where he's had an RBI kind of nice to see him uh get a chance to contribute here at the big league level here's Ross out of the stretch the pitch Scott with a good swing and a foul ball back Victor Scott batting 168 he's had five stolen bases on base percentage of 211 Scott has played in Center Field playing Left Field today now that C's back the pitch a strike on the inside corner o and two is Ross after walking Donovan and going 3-2 on goldi gets ahead 0 and2 on the rookie outfielder Scott rolling the bat right down to the knob Donovan leads it first Ross with a look over there and the tall randers pitch a swing and a miss strike three after the walk to Donovan strikeouts of gold smith and Scott and here's Jordan Walker Walker had five hits yesterday but he's over for three today a strike out a fly out and a ground out crooked numbers up there in three innings for Milwaukee totaling nine runs runs the pitch by Ross Walker swings and misses a slider and he missed that by plenty the Cardinals so scored solo runs in the third and the fifth on PES home runs and Baker sacrificed fly in the sixth inning a lead walk to Donovan he's still at first base with two outs Walker takes the pitch down the middle to strike called on two we've seen Jordan do that a couple of different times and that again more experienc he has the less he'll do it but chased the pitch he couldn't hit and then took a pitch right down the middle same pitch one slider was way off the plate one slider right in the middle of the plate on o and two here's Ross the kick the pitch on the way a slider just off the outside corner and Jordan thought he might be out on that one he was headed back to the Dugout wasn't he that's one and two Walker would like to get on and give pis a chance two outs in the top of the eighth inning game one of a three-game series in Milwaukee the pitch a swing and a miss after a walk to Donovan Ross Strikes Out gold Schmid Scott and Walker onto the bottom of the eighth 9 three Brewers that ball is hit hard goes outside one ball one strike then Ortiz walked and he was on when Cho hit a grand slam in the sixth inning and that was the dagger in this game 9-3 Milwaukee in the bottom of the eighth Le he deals up and in for a ball four four of the nine runs John that the Brewers have the guys who scored them reached via the walk now the pitch by Ley a swing and there's a high fly ball that's lifted in
