Hi, good evening to you. Both police boats and dive teams are out on the water right now searching for the two men who they say are still unaccounted for after last night's crash. No crews specifically focusing their attention on those two break walls in the distance which you can barely see there. That's where they say the boat crashed just after nine o'clock last night. Now, police tell us the boat coming back from Block Island and hit the east break wall right near the mouth of the Connecticut River. Police recovered one man on board who was pronounced dead as they rushed six others to the hospital. The operator among them, police say tonight he's still listed in critical condition. Now, police say the boat was filled with a group of friends. They're estimating they're all in their late 20 early thirties and from the crews pulling the 31 ft speed boat out of the water this afternoon saying there's significant damage to the bow and the base of it. Police tell us the crash happened just as the tide was coming in last night and they're not sure at this point if speed or alcohol were factors and we did speak with one woman who knows this area well, and says at that time of night voters need to be careful. The breakwater is still visible. Um, but maybe not as visible like it's, it's darker. Um, so it's just a tragedy, you know, it really is. I've lived here on the water, I've been a boater. I know what it's like to be out there at night. Um, you don't mess with it and police have the boat at their headquarters now where they will inspect it to see how this all happened. They do say the boat does have GPS, but they're not sure right now if it was working at the time now, as far as the sh search rather, and police tell us they will continue until at least sunset tonight and then they will re evaluate whether they will continue through the night or pick things back up tomorrow morning, but they will not stop until they find something. We're live in Old Saybrook tonight. Julia Leblanc, Fox 61 Connecticut's News Station.
